Gold Coast Family Cottages rents weekly Saturday to Saturday from July 1st to August 31st. Daily reservations are open a week prior from the stay date for July 1st to August 31st, but are always open from September 1st to June 30th.Guests are required to show a photo ID and credit card upon check-in. Please note that all Special Requests are subject to availability and additional charges may apply.

- 570charlettb (10/5): Mai Tiki Family and Friends takeover - My weekend experience was amazing with my friends and family. We booked 13 cottages and had a dinner on the beach. Everything was amazing. Some rooms are a little smaller than others so they may need to put more pictures on their website and looks better in person. We’re definitely going back.go Friendly staff and very clean. We didn’t realize to drop shoes in bucket outside of the door until therefore we don’t track sand indoors… noted! Thanks Mai Tiki!

There's no store for 5 miles either way, also I'm short and the coffee pot and toaster were in the cupboard above the stove, the bathtub didn't plug so I couldn't take a bath until I found a plug under the sink buried under and behind towels and toilet paper, I had to climb and look for everything.

- Amy (10/5): Amazing stay, definitely recommend! - I loved that it was right on beach, there’s a cute raised patio you can enjoy watching the sunset or sunrise. Perfect for children, too. The only things I can think of is- it’s kinda empty, it felt clean and everything but adding a little touch of “home” would top it off. It would also be a good idea to maybe offer kayaks (for additional pricing) since it would be the perfect location.

Sitting area and beds were very comfortable. All the amenities you'd expect at a beautiful lakeside cottage we're right there. It also has a great patio area and sugar sand beach down to the our awesome Lake Huron. Price wasn't much more than a basic hotel room either. Will definitely be going to stay again in the summer. - Daniel E. (8/5): - Very nice cottage, nice beach and deck. Inside is clean and modern. Location between Tawas and Oscoda was perfect for us. Fully equipped and furnished! The outside could use some cleanup that didn’t affect our stay in anyway. The gutters were filling up with growth. Deck could be stained. But, again, nothing that affected our visit. Cottages 1 and 2 face the street, 3 and 4 face the lake. All cottages are in one building like apartments. Good sound proofing, we could not hear the other guests. Also, it appears that the rooms can connect together like some joining hotel rooms. Would be great for multiple families vacationing together.

John came and meet me for the key and gave me the 411 on everything..Shook his hand and we were chilling until we left the next day. We had a fire at the pit and kids fished. Beautiful view..Reminds you that your grounded on a planet..Just in case life has you wondering if this is real or not Leaving:)

- Jennifer (6/5): Ill pass - Lovely little space until you realize the person next door is smoking pot 24-7 in their rental and your entire space smells like a Cheech and Chong movie. Every time we left and came back the smell was so strong it made us want to vomit. Not the hosts fault of course. Just know the walls are thin and you hear every move your neighbor makes and if they are rude enough to smoke in their side of rental, you smell it. Not much of a beach area, pic is deceiving. Beds not great. Oven set the smoke alarm off. Gas stove did not work unless you had a flame to light it and we did not. Only 2 glasses and a couple cups. Old rusty pans.

There was always shade available on the outside deck. The property itself was great. I think the neighbors might of helped them selves to the wood we had purchased and put in our fire pit.

- always0440 (6/5): No swimming or walks on beach here - The beach and water are there but it is blocked with boards and you can’t swim - the beach is only a dozen yards - can’t walk on it. The place is clean but this is really just apartments with adjoining walls -you can hear everything through them - furniture is old and needs a good cleaning. Sorry folks. It’s an average at best. And, nobody answers the phone!

It has a wonderful view with a private beach, a wooden dock and a small play ground for kids The unit was clean with a full kitchen equipped with a huge fridge, a microwave, a burner/oven and everything you need to cook (pots and plates). We had a great time.
- Anonymous (5/5): serious updates needed - i can’t really say - bed was comfortable 1. we thought we’d be able to walk a beach or swim disappointed 2. living room furniture has disgusting stains - had to put blanket on it to sit 3. no streaming - cable available but tv was size of a laptop and no casting 4. cement floors appeared covered by ceramic tile from thr 70s - like summer camp 5. beds very squeaky - really bad 6. walls paper thin - can hear entire conversations or kids crying/screaming 7. outside chairs were white plastic and stained from years of dirt - no real beach chair 8. no strip outlet in kitchen - had to keep disconnecting microwave, coffee pot or toaster 9. manager never returns calls or picked up 10. no dust pan to sweep up sand tracked in 11. hangers impossible to use - the kind you can’t steal but also can’t arrange 11. poorly stocked - only one glass and two coffee cups 12. No D/W which is fine but only one sink and nowhere to rinse and no drying rack 23. steps off deck to sand are so dangerous and falling apart - almost too big of step down at an angle for most people to make without serious risk of injury

Although I didn't need to use much, the kitchen seemed to be nicely supplied. The only negative was the hard and flat pillows on the bed. They were terrible but everything else was great. If I need a place to stay again, I'd definitely go back.

Our unit was very clean with full kitchen. Kind of updated retro furnishings... just what you would expect for an "Up North Michigan" cottage. Lots to do and experience in the area.

- maric83ava (8/5): Very nice in the off-season, too! - We were pleased with our four-night stay at Gold Coast in mid-October. We were busy during the day, and it was chilly/rainy, so we didn't spend time on the deck or beach. So sad to see the beach erosion due to record-high water levels. But the deck is large and would be a fine spot to enjoy the sun and lake view during warm weather! Our unit was clean, comfortable and well-appointed. We were especially impressed with the pristine cleanliness of the fridge and microwave. Plenty of towels, paper towels, dish soap. Big plus staying here: you are directly across the street from the Camp Inn, a top-notch full-service restaurant. Would definitely return to Gold Coast!

- Verified traveler (8/5): - The room was nice. Comfortable. Very clean! The winds were extremely high and cold during our stay so we didnt get to enjoy the beach much. However we would reserve here again.
- ARKSugarLand (10/5): Wonderful place to exhale and enjoy Lake Huron - This was a wonderful place to stay for two nights enjoy Lake Huron. I have raved about the location and comfort to everyone who has asked about my trip. It was truly a gem. The beac is clean and there is a nice firepit as well.
- swils07 (8/5): Wonderful Beach Location - We stayed with our 2 boys (5,7). Before arrival we let Gold Coast know we were celebrating our son's birthday and they went above and beyond by having a gift for them when we arrived. So thoughtful and the personal touch is not something you these days:) We rented a cabin that faced the parking lot (the lake views were booked). The cabins are small but sufficiently sized and well cared for. All of the furniture is newer and in great condition. Some things have been updated inside the cabins (furniture, light fixtures) and some things still could use spucing (the stoves, tub, bedspreads). Our cabin was pretty clean (I am very picky). The beds were actually VERY comfy! The beach was never busy while we were there and thankfully we had kind, quiet neighbors during our stay. The deck is great to sit on and enjoy the view and the beach is nice and clean, not rocky! Some things that would be nice if improved: 1. Bedspreads..the sheets were nice quality but the coverlet and other blankets could use updated. Our blue soft blankets on the beds we did not use because they were covered in hair (not ours). I think they were clean but hair just sticks to and gets trapped in those types of blankets. We brought our own bedding anyway so it wasnt a big issue. 2. Storage: It would be super helpful to guests if some hooks were added in the bathroom and near the cabin door to hang towels, swim suits ect. The bathroom really doesnt have any storage so any extra hooks would be helpful. 3. It would be really nice to have some more "homey" touches. Not necessities but would be nice to have more rugs in the bedrooms, hand towels in the kitchen, ect. again not necessities but would have been nice to make the cabin feel warmer. In hindsight I wish we wouldve booked a lakeview. For a whole week when our kids go to bed by 8pm we just stared at the TV because we couldnt leave them alone in the cabin. Staring at the lake wouldve been nice:) Overall this is a great little place to stay with a family. Customer service is excellent and the cabins/ cottages are well cared for. Compared to what else is available to rent in the area this place is very clean and nicely updated.
- nancy332 (10/5): Great place for families - Gold Coast was perfect for our family of 7 adults and 3 young kids. We had 2 cabins and they were clean and well furnished. Evan came by frequently to ask if we needed anything and was quick to help as needed. The beach and large deck are perfect! We all loved it and will be back next summer. Thanks Evan!
