Guest Reviews
- simcoop2 (8/5): - Central location in Old City. Round corner from family and near the Kottel. Very functional and comfortable bedroom. Coffee machine is a great extra. It would be helpful to have plug sockets closer to the bed in bedroom.
- simcoop2 (8/5): - Central location in the Old City of Jerusalem. Had all facilities needed. Very clear instructions on access. Coffee machine was a nice extra touch. Margit the landlady was very responsive and helpful. We were there in middle of winter and the bedroom and stone floors were rather cold, and heating could be stronger.
- Raanan (9/5): Great stay, highly recommended! host should be more available during the stay - The place is amazing, in a great location, and offers very good value. The only downside was that we tried several times to reach the host for a few simple needs during our stay, and unfortunately she wasn’t available. When we did reach her, she was very kind and helpful — but at the moments we needed assistance, we couldn’t get in touch, which was disappointing.
- Julie (8/5): Shabbatvin the Old City - Beautiful property. Convenient location to Old City. Great bed and shower. Quality linens. Noise which is an unavoidable part of being on the main road of the old city.
- Steven (8/5): - We liked the location. It is very small, but had everything we needed for 3 days in the old city. There is no view at all as there are no windows. A small courtyard to sit outside but you can't see anything from there.
- Attila (10/5): Csodálatos. - Minden. A környék, a berendezés, a hangulata a szobának. Ilyen nem volt
- Narda (10/5): Just love it! - It’s the second time I’ve visited in a month.
It feels home and love the energy and beauty of the curves even in the stunning bathroom.
Love the proximity of the Kotel and the markets with the fresh orange and pomegranate juice.
The sound of my next door visitors praying and singing. The shop guy in Cardo street playing an instrument and taking me back to the hotel as I got lost.
Love Margit the owner who is always responsive even in the early hours, when she arranged a taxi for me at 02 in the morning so I won’t miss my flight as my taxi didn’t arrive and I couldn’t use my phone to call another.
If I could I would live there. Not applicable 😀

- Marek (10/5): Excellent location in the Jewish part of the old town - As a Jew I would give 12 points for the location, if I could. Close to the Zion gate where we parked the car and close to the Kotel and the Rambam synagogue. It is a small and cosy hotel with three rooms. The owner was very nice and helpful. Our room was maybe a bit too small for 4 people (two adults and two kids), but it was perfect for two nights.
- Michael (10/5): - Clean and perfectly situated for the Old City. There was some life noise until 1am from properties behind, but only on one night.
- Trevor (10/5): The only place to stay when visiting Jerusalem - Inside the beautiful old city in the Jewish qtr, 10 mins walk to the wailing wall. Character remains from centuries before but modernised for guest usage. Beautiful small courtyard and private entrance. Lovely caring owner who makes sure you have everything needed. This will be my got to place in Jerusalem from now on. Nothing
- Heinz (10/5): Exceptional - Very special. Only check out at 10:00 could be 1 or 2 hours later.
- Marina (9/5): Location, location, location! - The location was amazing. Had small fridge and few utensils and plates. Very accommodating staff. Sofa bed was not very comfortable but bets were great!
- Natalya (10/5): Exceptional - It was amazing experience and perfect location! We definitely want to come back.
- Mike (10/5): Repeat stay. Simply the best! -
- Rachel (10/5): Perfect stay for a couple in the heart of the Jewish quarter - Amazing location. Cozy place. Super clean. Modern facilities with the atmosphere and design of ancient Jerusalem. Romantic small shared garden. Easy self checkin. Nothing I can think of
- Chana (10/5): We are so grateful for the Lagatia, an affordable and adorable place to stay near the Kotel. - Charming, cozy and very clean rental in the Jewish neighborhood in the Holy Old City of Jerusalem.
The hostess thought of everything! From slippers, toiletries, a blow dryer, towels, and continuous reliable hot water for showering in the 5 star bathroom...to the hot water urn for shabbat, as well as a small toaster oven, a one burner cooktop with cookware, a koomkoom, a coffee maker with capsules and complimentary cookies, but even scissors which we needed to open groceries, and candles with matches and wine glasses for shabbat. The bed was comfortable and the room maintained a comfortable temperature even during a cold spell, without even needing to turn on the heater. Nearby there are plenty of places to eat, bakeries, dessert shops, and a very useful makolet.
We parked in the Central Parking lot and used their App which gave a discount and cost 40 shekels a day instead of 70 shekels a day. We shlepped our stuff but theoretically one could taxi from there and get quite close to the Lagatia.
For those who need to know, there are like 6 steps up to the room with a railing to hold on to.
Overall we had a really wonderful time, savored every minute in the holy city, and truly enjoyed our stay at Lagatia.
- Sylvia (10/5): Our stay at the Legatia apartments - We had the most magical and outstanding stay in the Legatia during a weekend that included Shabbat and Yom Kippur. The apartment and the whole place is just gorgeous, quiet, and simply perfect. Margit is the most wonderful host, very attentive and responsive to our questions. We will definetely return to this lovely place!!! What an amazing way to experience the Old City of Jerusalem from the true heart of it!!!
- Adam (9/5): Excellent -
- Zajac (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richard (8/5): Great Choice for the Old City! - If you wish to stay in the Old City of Jerusalem, this is your place. It’s one block from the Jewish Quarter and ten minutes walking to the Kotel.
The room is comfortable. The bathroom is great. There is a patio outside that’s very private.
A grocery store is one block away. There are plenty of restaurants within a ten minute walk.
- Sebastian (10/5): Awesome location, friendly owner. - This place was freaking awesome! It was a last minute booking as the hotel I originally booked canceled last minute due to the situation in Israel back in Feb 2024. Margit the owner was in communication the entire time and she sounds very pleasant :) The place itself was extremely cozy and the facilities were top-notch. The toiletries and the bathroom itself was amazing. It can easily give any 4 or 5-star hotels a serious run for their money. The location - well it's literally in the Jewish Quarter of Old City so you're in walking distance to everything. The tram stop is a 10min walk outside the gates allowing access to other parts of Jerusalem with ease. I had been traveling for about 4 weeks by this time around the Middle-East and had stayed in some dubious hotels but Margit's place put a very warm smile on my face :) Was my first visit to Israel and look forward to coming again! Absolutely nothing! BOOK HERE!
- Paweł (10/5): Awesome place at Holy Land ❤️ - Location and great staff. The location allows you to feel the atmosphere of Jerusalem.
- Nadejda (8/5): Very nice accommodation in the old city - It has perfect location. It’s in a historical building that adds to the atmosphere. Everything we needed was provided. The host was very quick to respond. It is a little bit worn out
- Terry (3/5): Cramped and noisy - Location was handy This property was very cramped and was continuously noisy throughout our 2 day stay. The owner is aware of the noise emanating from the family that lives above, but does not disclose this. Reading the feedback from previous guests, it is clear this has been an issue for quite some time. The amount of noise and banging is not what a paying guest should have to endure. The owner was advised of the terrible noises on our first night. The screams from the children were like they were in an open park but at midnight. The owners response to our complaint was to go into to the courtyard and ask the family to close their windows. Perhaps a more tolerant guest may understand the complexities of living in a cramped environment and the charm of the old city, but as a paying guest, I expect a more upfront and honest description of what the reality of this property is. I have personally spoken to the owner, who has said she would make it clear in her advertisement that there is noise and late night singing etc. If any of the above is not in the ad, you should avoid booking this property. PS none of the locals know where or what Legatia is.
- Antoine (9/5): Superb - Great location and super friendly/helpful host
- Roxanne (8/5): A beautiful property run by a delightful lady in the heart of the Jewish quarter! - A wonderful property in the best location, minutes from the Western wall, souks and lots of dining opportunities. Rooms were lovely and it was useful to have a private kitchen. Everything was thought I’d by the wonderful owner, from the thoughtful chocolates left, to the slippers, to the toiletries. Fantastic! The lights on at night brought in the bugs, so I couldn’t have the bedroom light on for more than a minute in the evening of the entire room would be crawling with bugs, all over the bed, pillows, walls- everywhere. Couldn’t be helped and certainly no-ones fault but something to be aware of at night when staying there.
- Guijt (10/5): Exceptional - Legatia was for our family a place to feel at home in the amazing Jewish Quarter of Jerusalem. Shalom!
- Benjamin (9/5): Superb - - amazing location, right in the jewish quarter of the old city
- old-scool, almost cave-like dwelling, that really makes you feel the historical significance of the place....
- while still offering all amenities of a modern hotel room
-well furnished and equipped with everything one needs and more. Incredible welcome -gift.
- large and comfortable bed.
- check-in and out went swiftly, even though we arrived late - the apartment smells a bit musty after some time without ventilation, likely due to the old building fabric.
- it can get quite loud in the early morning, when garbage bins are rolled over the cobblestones outside the bedroom window.
- Asaf (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing stay. The owner was 100 percent communicative with all our requirements and also was very flexible with the payment.
This place is really recommended.
- Julie (7/5): Good - The location and facilities were wonderful. I think some insect mesh on widows would be helpful.
- Dawie (10/5): David Putter - Location perfect for old city Jerusalem visit .
Megit very helpfull .
Room perfect. I loved being in the Jewish section. All good, highly recommended
- Michael (10/5): Would definitely return - Excellent location. Very clean and comfortable. Slippers, bathrobes and toiletries in the room, which we were not expecting. Just 2 small issues which wouldn't stop me returning.
1. the outside table and chairs was shared with the other 2 rooms and there was only space for 3 chairs and a table (Didn't effect us as the other people were not using it when we wanted to)
2. Our room was at the front and you could hear the noise of a cart being pulled down the road outside at 6am (Managed to get back to sleep and it is what you expect from the old city)
- Maryana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Will (6/5): Pleasant - Great location for old city No soundproofing around windows and neighbors were extremely loud and awake almost all night both nights
very hard to sleep as the noise funneled into the courtyard and into my room, had to sleep with pillow on head to muffle the noise
- Kate (9/5): Perfect location in the Old City to explore the heart of Jerusalem. - The location was fantastic (in the heart of the old city) and Margit, the owner, was lovely and very helpful. The studio needs a little sprucing up maybe but I know the painter was due in the day we left.
- Mihai (8/5): Very good -
- Mariasha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Norbert (9/5): Perfect place for few days stay at Jerusalem’s Old Town - Margit is an incredibly friendly and helpful host. The apartment is perfectly located in the very center of Jerusalem between the Jewish and Armenian quarters. You will find there everything what you need for few days stay at Holy City. Although, remember that it's not a modern place, but rather an atmospheric small apartment in the very old town. As you walk in, you can feel the dampness, but that's probably how it is in every house in the old buildings of the center of Jerusalem. But after a while it didn't bother us anymore.
- Brett (8/5): Excellent location in Old City ! - The owners were very, very helpful and the bed was very comfortable. It was all very good, but I made the error of thinking there would be 2 single beds when I booked. We had been camping so we had gear to compensate 😀
- Joseph (10/5): Exceptional -
- Safia (9/5): Superb -
- Alicia (10/5): Wonderful and clean accommodation in the Old City - Wonderful location in the Old City. Lovely and clean. We loved the experience of staying in the Old City, and it was very convenient. Great if you want an Old City experience.
- Alexander (10/5): - Best spot to stay. Location is incredible. Inside the old city with great access to the sites. The room is very comfortable and well stocked with everything you need and more. The owner is kind and helpful. Parking can be a challenge, you need an app that is a pain if you have a foreign number or don’t know Hebrew, but that’s the way it goes in Jerusalem.
- Eva Marie (10/5): Little Jem in the Old City - We were so excited to be able to stay in the old city. Legatia was convenient, clean, cute and comfortable. We absolutely loved our stay there.
- Nyasha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pınar (9/5): Superb - The location is great. We highly recommend. The most important thing is the host is very helpful and kind, this is very important for a tourist couple. The bed and pillows are very comfortable and clean. Wifi did not work at the bedroom.
A bit noisy in the morning
- James (10/5): One of the best part of our trip! - The location couldn't be better if you want to be in the old city. The hostess was available with everything we needed. The price was an excellent value. Everything was very clean. The kitchenette was perfect. I can't say I personally didn't like anything about the place. If you are the type of person that likes fancy resorts this may not be the place for you but if you want to stay in nice place with character in a great location stay here.
- Antonio (9/5): Amazing Atmosphere Experience at Legatia! - Amazing atmosphere at Legatia. Best than a 5**** inclusive experience Bit of painting at the corner of the bathroom needed.
- Arshad (8/5): very good - Breakfast not included. Location is excellent. The Host Margit was very friendly and cooperative. Location was very good however it is in pedestrian zone. Taxi or car can not reach directly there. You have to get off at Parking Lot of the Jewish Quarter or Christian Quarter and then walk. If you have luggage with you, then it is problem rolling over uneven narrow streets to reach this place. Street light is poor, was difficult to key in entrance lock code owing darkness as we arrived around 9 pm. The apartment was very cold upon arrival. A split Unit installed could not provide enough heat for a comfort level, next day a portable small heater was provided which helped. Check-out time was 10 am which is not usual or standard. Upon request it was extended to 12 pm
- Helle (8/5): Very good - Nice studio
Good location A little cold in winter.
- Zsuzsanna (10/5): Exceptional - Margit is a very kind host. The apartment is in an excellent location.
- Stephanie (9/5): Superb -
- Iqbal (9/5): Superb -
- Johanna (10/5): Exceptional -
- 25672 (10/5): If you can stay here, do it! You won't be disappointed. - We loved everything about this beautiful space and the host is extremely accommodating and kind. Great location, comfy beds, the best toiletries ever, everything one could need was there: map coffee /tea, cookies oranges, laundry service, sewing kit and the list goes on. The host was very responsive from booking time to our departure. If you can stay here we don't think you'll be disappointed. N/A
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic location. Well equipped apartment. Amazing hostess. The 2 beds were good. But the futon wasn't the most comfortable. The children slept fine though.
- Roy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (10/5): fantastic stay. Great comms with owner, very warm welcome. apartment and has everything you need and is on the doorstep - location and check in experience are excellent parking but that’s Jerusalem
- Sohaib (10/5): Exceptional -
- Robert (9/5): Superb -
- Elaine (9/5): A most enjoyable stay in the heart of the old city of Jerusalem. - The apartment was in an excellent location and easy to access. Our lovely host had left a welcome treat and tea and coffee making facilities and was communicative and supportive. Highly recommend.
- Guro (10/5): My husband and I liked Legatia. Cute little place! -
- Cressida (7/5): Good - Excellent location. Really helpful host. Great to be able to get washing done. Clear, quirky apartment. Lots of useful information in the room. Smaller than it appeared, which was problematic when needing to use the sofa bed (leaving only uncomfortable chairs and a tiny table). Very poor kitchen facilities - the hob felt dangerous to use, but was vital when travelling with a child.
- Karen (10/5): Perfect place, perfect management - The "manager" Margit is an INCREDIBLE person. She is always there when needed and goes way beyond any possibilities whatsoever. If you want a "security blanket" being in another country, Margit is IT!!! I cannot say enough about her. When she is around, you KNOW all is in order. AMAZING!! If you book during the Jewish holidays (Passover and the Jewish new year which lasts one month), be prepared for transportation delays.
- Melissa (10/5): Wonderful Host. Best Apartments in Jerusalem’s Old city maybe the best in Israel. It feels like home - Margrit the host is the best. She is friendly and helpful. The apartment is wonderful, clean and right in the middle of Jerusalem’s Jewish quarter in the Old City. This was the second time we stayed with Legatia and certainly not the last. Nothing
- Maya (9/5): It was a fulfilling and humbling 4 days to be able to visit Jerusalem - We loved our stay in the Old City. Excellent location, clean, spacious and comfortable accommodation especially after walking around and experiencing the culture. Margit was very accommodating and looks after us before and during our stay. Nil to mention
- Thiago (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gilad (8/5): Legatia Great Place Great Hospitality - The place and hospitality are wonderful. The hostess makes every effort to please the service and stay at the place. The location in the old town makes the stay an unforgettable experience.
The room is equipped with all 5-star amenities. It's just a pity that access to the place is not possible by car.
- Judith (8/5): - Inside the Old City, so very hard to find and get to. Google Maps only gets you to the Wall of the city, then you have to park your vehicle outside and lug your bags to the place, which was a hike. Once you got there, it was fine. Clean, very friendly owner, and once you got there, very convenient to what we wanted to see and do.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very friendly proprietor and a nice place to relax after a long day touring the city. Very convenient for being in the old city.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is a perfect place to stay, walking distance to everything, as a Catholic all the main places are not far les than 10 minutes, Margit is so sweet and kind, we definitely will recomend this place to friends and family.
- ChrisEvans (10/5): - My husband and I enjoyed a 10 day stay at the Legatia. Special thanks to Margit, who took exceptional care of us. We highly recommend this small apartment, which has all of the essentials. Margit informed us on first meeting her that she was happy to assist us in any way; she was more than accommodating: providing all the coffee we wanted, extra towels, recommendations, and help with hard to obtain theater tickets. We will happily return here to visit Jerusalem and Margit. The apartment was a perfect place to return after a full day of sightseeing. Located in a perfect spot of the Old City, it was accessible to everything. And Margit was more than a hostess, she was like the best concierge one could have in a new city!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - the property is very unique and centrally located, Host was one of a kind, she went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable and had a pleasant time. I'd highly recommend it.
- Connie (8/5): Fantastisk - Fantastisk lejlighed og værter. Der er meget lyst, så man skal kunne tåle støj.
Ligger i hjertet af den gl bydel. Check for parkering inden i booker i den gl. bydel.
- Mira (8/5): Chill, elegant homestay in Old City - Really special apartment-style residence in the old city. Great for pedestrian exploring and immersing yourself in the neighborhood. Don’t plan to bring a car (parking is outside); there is no daily housekeeping, but Margit is super helpful with laundry, recommendations, and making you feel at home.
- Brian Viuf (10/5): Great stay in the Jewish quarter - Great stay in the Jewish quarter in Jerusalem! Small room for 3 people, but it was clean and the lady who owns it are very friendly and helpful.
- Clint (10/5): Gem in the Old City - Located in the Old City, so close to the best tourist sites. Very clean (wife loved the overhead shower head). Proprietress (is that a word?) was super nice and helpful. A little small for 3 people, but it is in the Old City where space is limited. I can not recommend this place highly enough!
- Jem (10/5): - Beautiful apartment, amazing location inside Jaffa Gate and the manager was very accommodating and friendly. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Jerusalem!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Directly in old city - Wonderful small appartment with patio. Getting out of the gate, you are in two minutes away from the Cardo, 5 from the temple mount and the excavation area, and 10 from most locations in the old city. Very nice and helpful landlady.
- Drew (10/5): Great Location in the Old City - Very, very nice place to stay in the Old City. The owner, Margit, is an angel from Chicago. You can tell she is an angel because she does no have a Chicaaago accent. Convenient to Western Wall and Church of the Holy Sepulchre, both of which gave me goosebumps. If you go to the Muslim Quarter, go way in. Gets much better on the far side otherwise it is Muslims selling "Guns and Moses" t-shirts to Christian tourists. Something undignified about that. I arrived on a Friday afternoon having not planned around Shabbat. Fortunately, Friday evening is when the Western Wall is quite the sight. Old City has no decent food. Even the bagels are horrible and they have never heard of pastrami there, as far as I can tell, but the Armenian spots are open for dining on Friday and Saturday, and right nearby and they are all so friendly. The modern part of Jerusalem, King David Hotel and Yad Vashem are very close but way down and up a valley so move across the valley for part of your stay to go there.
- David (10/5): Lovely location inthe Old City - Brilliant location in the Jewish Quarter of the Old City . Great place to stay!!!
- Domini (10/5): A hidden gem in the old city - We absolutely loved this sweet little place to stay! Located conveniently in the heart of the old Jewish quarter near the Zion gate and nearby parking, it is an absolute gem tucked away behind an inconspicuous blue door. Inside there are just three rooms centred around a sweet little courtyard with a bright basket of flowers. Our room had its own basic kitchen with a selection of teas, luxurious shower with a large shower head and dead sea mineral washing lotions, and a comfortable bed in a cosy room of white-washed Jerusalem arches. What more could we want? Perhaps just to ask the spritely birds outside to keep it down a bit at 5am, but then I guess that was half the charm! Our hostess Margit was extremely welcoming, accommodating and helpful. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely come back on our next visit to Jerusalem.
