Guest Reviews
- Janice (10/5): -
- Stephanie (10/5): Incredible stay with breathtaking views - I cannot say enough great things about our stay. The staff was incredibly kind, the rooms were comfortable, spacious and came with more amenities than we even expected and the view from our room was breathtaking. My only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer. We will, without question, be back. I have no complaints whatsoever
- Janice (10/5): - The location. The views. The breakfast room. The arch style. The doors.
- Robert (10/5): Beautiful, serene, peaceful oasis - The views and private balconies really set off a serene getaway There really wasn't anything I didn't like about the property. If I was really getting picky I would prefer a pergo type floor instead of carpet but that would really be diving deep
- Erin (10/5): - The room was spacious and comfortable. Staff was very nice and helpful. The view in the fall is incredible.
- Tim (10/5): - What a beautiful facility, and piece of property. We were visiting The Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, and this was a reasonable driving distance.
Our hosts were friendly and accommodating, the rooms were clean, and the views are awesome.
They even have a fire pit that overlooks the scenic hillside.
They had a continental breakfast in the morning as well.
- Mary (10/5): Highly recommend! - The lodge is so welcoming and in a picture-perfect setting surrounded by trees and forests. The rooms are clean and spacious. The leaves had just started to change, and the scenery was beautiful. We had a simple breakfast, which was just enough to get our day started before we headed to Cooperstown to the baseball Hall of Fame. It was a 5 minute drive away. We ate lunch in Cooperstown at one of many restaurants and dinner at Boca. The food was wonderful. I highly recommend the August Lodge. We enjoyed everything.
- Melissa (10/5): -
- Sara (9/5): A beautiful place to spend a relaxing night…or more - The beautiful view and friendly staff
Loved the set up for a campfire overlooking the mountains A protein selection or two on the breakfast would be great
- Michael (10/5): - The room was clean and larger than a hotel room. The staff was very helpful and very knowledgeable about the area and what to do. Very good choice.
- Paulette (10/5): - We loved everything!!!! Best place to relax…. Staff very knowledgeable about the area and very willing to make suggestions that did not disappoint!!!! We’d stay there again. View was breathtaking!!!!!
- Ann (10/5): Wonderful hotel - The staff at this little lodge is so kind. We were one of only two families both nights, but we really enjoyed our stay. Beautiful views, convenient to the HoF, delicious coffee.
- James (9/5): Remote relaxing getaway - Beautiful remote location with expansive views. The lodge has nice lounge area and screen porch for all to enjoy. In the evening you can light a wood firepit and sit out in the adirondack chairs. We watched a full moon rise. August Lodge is located 5 miles from Cooperstown and just down the hill there is grocery store. The room was spacious and comfortable with a patio to sit and enjoy the morning. Breakfast was continental with machine coffee, muffins and yogurt. The chocolate muffins were too stale to eat but the blueberry were OK. Pool hours closed at 7pm unfortunately so we could not enjoy the hot tub in the evening.
- BRAM (10/5): First time stay - I stayed by my teammates. Very close to baseball fields.
My only complaints are its dark, lights limited the tiny lamps most didn't work, the tables they were on were lower than the bed.
Shower head flow was hard to remove soap provided.
- wayne (10/5): HOF location - Great location. Nice amenities and breakfast and friendly service
- Jaime (10/5): -
- Patricia (10/5): - Beautiful location
- Amy (10/5): - Safe. Clean. STUNNING. Loved staying in this hidden gem so close to Cooperstown! Heated pool and swing set were great for the kids and there's a fire pit for s'mores that overlooks the wildflower meadow. Total homerun.
- Amy (10/5): - Safe. Clean. STUNNING. What a great stay so close to Cooperstown! A hidden gem in the mountains.
- Kirkland (9/5): Superb -
- Oliveira (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steven (10/5): Excellent - will return - Quiet area well maintained N/a
- Tonya (10/5): I would recommend this lodge to others. - The pool closed too early.
- James (8/5): - Views are stunning, pool and hot tub stunning, relaxing and quiet location, staff very friendly and helpful, breakfast adequate. However walls paper thin in and could hear neighbours conversations.. but staff moved our room without hesitation .. thank you for a nice stay
- Pascarella (8/5): Very good -
- Staci (10/5): - Wonderful and friendly staff with a quaint vibe. Great for large parties as there is plenty of room to hang out. Very clean. We will definitely stay there again+
- Stephen (8/5): Basic, but very good option in Cooperstown - We arrived later in the evening. The door would not open with the key, so the manager came and showed us a little "trick". The place is more "motel-ish" with outside stairs and doors. No interior access like a hotel. It is a little rustic, but seemed to be clean. They offered a very basic continental breakfast, which was a nice feature, but we were there on a cold rainy weekend and the seating area was not heated, so we had to take it back to our room. It was a nice, slightly lower cost option in Cooperstown and I would recommend it if you want to save a few dollars and still be in a clean room.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Overall, for a small locally owned property, it’s nice. There are some nice amenities like the kitchenette and patio with chairs, big outdoor pool, fire pit, swingset etc. Seems great for young families.
There were a few things that were just a little off. Mainly, housekeeping, even though I specifically requested it they didn’t touch our room and we had to go ask for towels. They only left half a roll of toilet paper on the room. The bath towels felt slimy, I literally couldn’t wait to leave so I could go take a shower elsewhere and feel clean. The room smelled musty. The walls and ceiling are very thin, we could hear the people next door and were woken up by the kids upstairs both mornings. Also the mattresses really need to be replaced very springy and uncomfortable.
For the cost, it was a good deal. I’m sure it’s a great place during the summer when all the outdoor amenities are usable. I’m not sure I would stay again jus because of the level of cleanliness and comfort of the room and bathroom.
- Carol (8/5): Great value with log cabin Adirondack feel - Staff very friendly.
View would have been great if weather had cooperated.
Neat screen porch to hang out in.
Nice porch right outside our room.
Good value. They really should invest in new towels (frayed edges) and sheets (pilled). .
Carpet needed help.
Loud heater
- Colleen (9/5): Superb - Lovely location. Staff were excellent.
- Leonora (8/5): Very good - friendly staff, good coffee, Blueberry muffin
- James (10/5): Exceptional - Super clean, comfortable, and spacious Everything was great!
- Holly (9/5): Staff was friendly and had a great time. I would stay there again. - I enjoyed the scenery and view. The water smells.
- Mike (10/5): -
beautiful setting in the country.
warm and welcome (not sterile like most motels)
- Patricia (10/5): I loved the atmosphere of the setting and surroundings. - Great Location. Loved the grounds and the view from the room. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were spacious and had great amenities.
- Donna (10/5): - This is a very quaint lodge away from the hustle and bustle of town. The staff was so friendly and nice.
We were here from Atlanta to see the Baseball Hall of Fame. They were helpful in other local sites.
Breakfast was a simple continental. Visiting in late October, that’s what we expected.
Deer came up into the yard. Sun rises and sun sets were beautiful.
If we ever come back, we will definitely stay at the August Lodge again.
- Pam (9/5): I would return for sure - Staff was very acommadating. View was fantastic. Great fire pit. Screened in porch very nice. Went in fall so no pool or hot tub. Bbq grills nice and clean. Went in fall. Website says room service? Not when we were there. All brochures in room need to be tossed and updated.
- mlb914 (10/5): Beautiful view for the changing leaves - We visited at the end of their season so things were very quiet. The pool was closed. The views are beautiful. The rooms are very big with adoration each end, so you can go the the parking lot or go out the other door to a fire pit area. The room has a kitchenette that we did not use. Desk staff was very friendly
- Hayley (9/5): Lovely - Lovely location with great views . Huge but cosy room with kitchen area. Nothing
- Michael (8/5): - We stayed for 2 nights. The staff was very friendly and helpful and made for a nice stay. The only issue we had was finding the access road to the lodge. The sign was hard to find and not sure which drive to follow, looks more like a private drive but once we got to the lodge, all was good and would definitely consider staying again, hopefully with the weather a bit warmer to enjoy the outside more.
- Erica (7/5): Beautiful view okay amenities - The view Quality
- Kerry (10/5): Exceptional -
- Miguel (10/5): - August Lodge was amazing and every aspect of our stay was great. The room was big and comfortable. The balconies were amazing. The view was breathtaking. My Wife loved the fall foliage, my son and I loved the fact that we were about 10 minutes away from the baseball Hall of Fame. The service was great. Everyone was super friendly and very accommodating.
- Susan (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful location
- Matthew (10/5): - The August lodge was a fantastic stay. Unbelievably beautiful property with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. Large, comfortable room. Delicious breakfast included. A bit of a drive from Cooperstown, but worth it for the price and peaceful setting. A really great lodge! Staff was super nice
- Edith (10/5): Lovely Little Break - Lovely get-away-- it feels like a family trip to a mountain cabin. Very friendly people
- Stacey (10/5): - Such a cute place! Views & staff are spectacular!!
- davidqL7309HG (10/5): Amazing Stay Near Cooperstown - Beautiful small lodge near Cooperstown. We stayed two nights in this wonderful lodge. The rooms are quiet with a private patio or balcony. The views are amazing. Our stay was out of season, so breakfast was smaller than I expected. If we ever return to Cooperstown we will stay here again.
- Valerie (10/5): - Very remote and quiet. Beautiful surroundings. Clean and comfortable. Great coffee and plenty of choices for a self serve breakfast.
- Pelliccione (9/5): Superb -
- Martin (9/5): Superb -
- Carolyn (8/5): Beautiful place, breathtaking views. Staff was courteous & friendly. - The location was beautiful with spectacular views of the valley. Fall foliage was breathtaking. Not enough insulation in between rooms as we could hear people talking. Putting on the fan when we went to bed helped.
- Theresa (9/5): Perfect location, great price, fantastic staff. Would stay again and have already reccommended. - The location is perfect! Just outside of Cooperstown proper and perfect for all the activities I had planned. The view is unbeatable, I could barely sleep because I just wanted to take in the view at all hours. The lodge style was beautiful and exactly what I was looking for. Price was right, staff were super friendly and helpful. A tiny bit more attention to detail such as cleanliness of the shower curtain rod, rust stains on the washcloths & towels, vacuuming behind furniture. Otherwise perfect!
- B7403TFjohnc (8/5): Very nice people - This is a Mom and Pop place located in a field outside of Cooperstown. The rooms were more that adequate and clean. This would be a great place to bring a group with kids because there is plenty of room in the field for the kids to run around while the parents use the grills to cook dinner. Don't expect much in terms of their breakfast - bananas.apples and bars that look like they came from the corner gas station. But, the people who run the place are wonderful, kind and down home friendly. We would return.
- Kirsten (6/5): - I thought this location was a bit closer to Oneonta. One of our drives in was much more direct and less curvy, no matter what you are going to have some scenery. I really liked all the hand painted doors and wood trim. The towels were great, but the bedding was kind of basic. We enjoyed a very good coffee and a great view in the morning. If you like a simple breakfast you will be satisfied.
- Gallant (8/5): Great location and atmosphere. Wonderful for a weekend getaway, but the water should be checked for bacteria so as not t - It was beautiful! Great location and spacious and comfortable beds I called ahead to inquire about the pool and hot tub and was told they were open. When I went to use them 2 days later, when I arrived, I was informed that they were closed. I feel a heads up would have been appreciated.
While the rooms were spacious and clean and comfortable, the water in our room (including the bathroom and kitchen sink ) smelled like raw sewage. I am on immunosuppressants for Lupus and was scared to brush my teeth or use the water for bathing because I didn’t want to get sick.
- Joanna (8/5): - Beautiful views, great coffee. Limited breakfast options but still doable. Kitchenette lacked some basic tools like cup towels and dish cloths. No ice bucket or wine glasses.
- Rayn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Judy (8/5): Very good -
- Carolyn (10/5): - Wonderful!
- Pamela (8/5): - Very close to Museum and nice pool and hot tub. Pretty views.
- Jeff (8/5): - The views from the lodge were amazing. A lot of good dining in the area. The only complaint is the water in the bathroom had a weird smell but a great experience and we would definitely go back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Cooperstown weekend - The lodge was in the country which was very nice. But it does have well water and sulfur the water had a terrible smell to it. The room was nice, the bed could have been a little bit more comfortable. Overall it was a good stay. The continental breakfast was nice, had a nice indoor and outdoor area to eat breakfast, very nice view. And the staff helped with whatever you asked for.
- David (10/5): - The staff was great, an amazing view and property. A throwback to simpler times.
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Veronica (10/5): - It is an amazing place to stay. Love it
- Anthony (8/5): Very good -
- Oleg (9/5): Superb -
- Rosemarie (4/5): - Need a lot of work especially the door.
- Bill (10/5): - They need to spend more attention to detail
- Gregory (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nelson (10/5): Staff was excellent. Close to dreams park - Fire pit Better lightening in room. Maybe more dehumidifier
- Jeff (9/5): Great place, perfect location, and friendly staff. Convenient to everything, yet private. - The location is perfect, close to Cooperstown Dreams Park. Very convenient location for the baseball fields and to the town of Cooperstown, along with the lake beach. Great restaurants close as well. Upstate Bar and Grill and Bocca are both excellent. Double Day restaurant in Cooperstown provides both good breakfast and lunch. The staff, Brian and Carl were very friendly, informative, and great to chat with each day. The only two changes that would make the rooms better would be different pillows and a larger bathroom. The door to the bathroom in our room made it difficult to move around especially when two people are trying to get ready at the same time. bring your own pillows if you are particular. the room bed pillows are a less desirable.
- Daniel (10/5): Great place!!! - It was awesome! I’ll stay no where else when I visit Cooperstown
- Daniel (5/5): Would not stay again - Location The tub spout was loose and the shower did not work
- Gregory (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful hotel! Scenic view!
Staff are incredibly friendly. Close to everything, but just far enough off the main roads to enjoy some peace and quiet.
- Jonathan (10/5): We will definitely consider returning if staying in the area. - The breakfast was fairly standard. No prepared food, but cereal, cereal bars, yogurt, coffee, etc. I could hear conversations from the room next door, and the in room coffee was insufficient.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Everything was and beautiful.
- Michelle (10/5): - Great
- Verified traveler (4/5): TV not - TV very limited channels. Claimed Direct TV would not come to fix.
- Lois (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (9/5): Great location and great room - Great atmosphere and location with great views.
- Michele (8/5): - I can’t say anything negative about our experience. The staff was super friendly, room was clean and the grounds were beautiful.
- Richard (8/5): - Beautiful setting—country location but very short commute into Cooperstown. Friendly staff.
- Leigh (8/5): Amazing views - Lodge had amazing views and was a nice one night stay prior to visiting Cooperstown. Could use a little updating, but the 1960's vibe made it quaint.
- marycZ466RV (10/5): Perfect location for our wedding! - We had our wedding at the August Lodge this September. Everything was absolutely amazing. From the views to the rooms to the staff. We had our ceremony and reception right at the lodge. The staff was accommodating and helped us every step of the way. We also booked all 25 rooms for our wedding guests. Every room was clean, tidy, and impressive. Our guest especially enjoyed the private balconies and patios with each room. The rooms were large, and allowed plenty of room for my wedding party and guest to get ready for the big day! We can’t thank the August Lodge enough for a truly incredible experience!!
- Jaime (8/5): Very good - Breakfast was fine but a little underwhelming. More savory options would have been nice. It was heavy on the sweet stuff. Other than that it was a great stay!
- Joseph (9/5): A happy visit - Very comfortable, clean and well maintained Breakfast was a little on the light side although I do love Cocoa Puffs 😊
- Anthony (6/5): - Property was beautiful, lodge was nice but the staff was missing. No room makeup or cleaned up. Needed towels and had to bring ours to the front desk for an exchange instead of having them brought to us. The “breakfast” was cereal and granola bars. Nice grounds and building but staff and amenities need work.
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Margaret (6/5): Beautiful area, but weak on service. - While the property is on a beautiful piece of land, we were disappointed with the service. There were only 3 customers at the hotel. We asked for a nice room with a view. The man at the counter said all the rooms are the same. Then he gave us a room facing where workers were putting up a wedding tent, instead of one overlooking the valley. We did not realize until the next day what the options could be, otherwise we would have asked to move.
- james (6/5): - cleaning services need improvement, replaced towels, left used towels on bathroom floor
- Ruth (10/5): We all enjoyed our stay. It was located exactly where we need it to be for what we wanted to do. - It was an amazing place to stay. Very quiet and out of the way of the city. Beautiful area and nice pool, which we had to ourselves. I would stay there again in a New York minute. All staff was wonderful. Not one thing!
- Anthony (8/5): - We booked this hotel not sure whether it was truly decent or not. Had good reviews so we went with it. It truly was above expectations. It is lodge more than a hotel. The best part was the beautiful landscape in the mountains. It sits atop a mountain, so you can see out through the valley and horizon hilltops. So nice. My only complaint, was that the TV in the room did not work correctly. We could not control the TV with the remote nor turn it on or off. Other than that, I felt it was a great place to stay.
- Jan (9/5): Superb - Location is very quiet, yet convenient to nearby attractions. The handmade woodwork inside and out is stunning.
- Jessica (6/5): - I loved the view from the property. The location is beautiful. However, I didn't like that the breakfast is just muffins and cereal. The rooms also smell alittle moldy, so I do think this place is pricey for your stay. It's an average place to stay for the night.
- L3168BMmh (2/5): Very disappointing and uncomfortable. - This place needs a whole lot of updating and a lot of "elbow grease". This is not a luxury hotel. Unfortunately we had this for a week because our child was playing in a baseball tournament at the Dream Park. Their website looks great but in reality it is far from it. We found the "suite" in disarray. The shower stall bench area had built up dirt and had not been properly cleaned. The towels were worn and thin and not enough for the guests, the rooms were dirty, no broom, the frying pan had been burnt and not suitable to cook in, the spatula had built up burnt scorch marks, utensils were hit and miss and the utensil tray was filty. The microwave hadn't been wiped and cleaned. The sofa and chair were stained. the screen door was filty and the glass doors needed to be cleaned. The "night stands and end tables" were dirty as they were carved wood and dirt particles had settled in the grooves. We had to go to the office to get extra toilet paper (they would only give you one at a time, the same with any towels). We had to request dish soap, dish towels to wipe the dishes (only one at a time), plastic garbage bags. There was a worn and smelly sponge scrubber to wash dishes so we requested a new and clean one. An evening desk clerk insinuated that these things were in the room and did not believe us so he came up to the room to check it out! Uncalled for! The lighting in all rooms was very poor. The head manager/owner was not available because he was on "vacation". A fine time to be gone. We were all so disillusioned and very disappointed. It is a beautiful location but not worth it to be uncomfortable. The reviews really need to be updated as well. After travelling a great length of time no one needs to encounter such dissatisfaction. Sorry that I did not take any pictures to display and verify these conditions. Good Luck.
- Robert (10/5): Would stay again! - Stay was great. Staff was friendly and addressed the very few requests we had. Room and common areas were very clean. Loved the balcony areas. Would have liked a few more choices on the continental breakfast but that’s about the only Minor negative
- Joe (4/5): Was a little let down after seeing pictures of the facility - Location and view Flying bugs, cobwebs in corners, white flacky stuff on the floor, mini fridge didn't work, room is outdated. Price of $226 a night is high for the room
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Mostly nice, but breakfast is a joke.
