Guest Reviews
- Richard (8/5): -
- Stephen (7/5): For one night it was ok - Looked a lovely building
There was one member of staff visible which didn’t inspire a reasonable hotel Whilst it was reasonable decoration the furniture was a bit shabby
- Richard (8/5): - Room was very large with plenty of space Paintwork a little dated but won't mark down for that
- Sezgin (7/5): Sakinlik arayanlar için ideal - Temizlik Kahvaltı ve konumunu beğenmedim
- Deborah (8/5): -
- Jessica (8/5): Comfortable, beautiful, amazing staff - I really liked the quiet, the peace, the space and the area. Exactly what I needed for the weeked I thought breakfast would be a buffet rather than to order but food was delicious
- Parveen (8/5): -
- Nigel (7/5): Basic room, friendly staff, good restaurant, breakfast which was included in the price was good, big car park. -
- Steve (8/5): Lovely Overnight Stay - Excellent Value for Money All good 👍

- Richard (10/5): - Wonderful hotel, amazing staff, plenty of parking, quiet. Great value for money. Bed was a tad hard
- Graham (8/5): One of the most pleasurable couple of days away my wife have had in years. Well done Sreveton House Hotel and well done - Location was quiet & peaceful. Staff were exceptionally attentive. Alex deserves a special thankyou for her kindness. Our party of three were celebrating my wife’s birthday and Alex made it special. Hope she enjoys her time with her father back home in July. Price vs value unbeatable
- Neil (8/5): - Location, price, service, room Not a lot...
- Maryam (1/5): -
- Ann (8/5): - Lovely hotel, great location. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Very good breakfast, hot choices made to order.
- Tarn (1/5): Poor management and room not as described on the website. - Receptionist (Alexandria) was absolutely lovely and went out of her way to try and help as best she could. Room was not as described- booking.com states it has a bath and it did not. The main reason for booking this was due to the bath!! My wife turned down the room as soon as she was shown to it, so cannot comment on how comfortable the room or bed was, though it looked lovely. Manager Sunni dragged his heels in giving us a refund over this misleading description (or even properly talking to us, for that matter). We were told there were no rooms with baths available. We asked to change dates to a day when there was a room with a bath available and this was denied (this was meant to be a relaxing night away for my wife- it didn’t need to be this specific night- she didn’t *need* accommodation, she needed relaxation, and her relaxation is a bath!!). It was very hard to get any kind of back and forth with the manager as he was doing this all over the phone and through the receptionist. Unfortunately, despite it looking lovely, we cannot trust it now so won’t be returning.
- Sargeant (10/5): -
- Luis (7/5): - Easy access and relaxing area.
Reception very kind. Some stuff on bathroom need looking at.
- Chloe (5/5): Hello I have got to the hotel to be took there is no spa however when I sent a email the other day I got told we could -

- sonia (10/5): Relaxing - It’s lovely place to stay. The staff are really friendly and helpful and the food is amazing. It a rural location so may not be for everyone, but has quick access to Didcot, Abingdon and Oxford
- Simon (6/5): Welcoming and comfortable stay just needs some tlc - Warm comfortable quite room had a good nights sleep friendly staff Shower was mouldy and dusty shower head. Fixtures were hanging off the wall. Towel rail leaked over bathroom floor. Bed sheet had a hole in it. Overall felt tired and neglected. Breakfast food was good but was confusing with the amount of preserves with nothing for them to go on such as croissants or toast

Amazing Breakfast
- David (6/5): Staff great but needs a tidy up. - The staff were very friendly and helpful and breakfast was also very good. Having lived in the area for along time I was looking forward to staying but unfortunately the grand old Biulding is looking rather tired inside, in our bedroom the carpet was stained, there were water stains on the ceiling and the paint work in the room needed doing.
It’s a shame because it could be a really nice place if it was looked after by the owners.
- Tracy (5/5): Has the potential to be lovely, but it’s worn and tired now. - The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was very good and so much better than expected as it was cooked to order and not the usual lukewarm buffet you get in so many places now. The property is tired and the rooms are disappointing for the money. It needs an investment of cash to bring it up to the standard it needs to be. We moved to a 4 poster room as we didn’t like the first room they gave us which was allegedly a deluxe double. The beds are not extra large as described which was disappointing. The bathroom was horrible. Paint was peeling off the walls and the radiator. The shower tray was cracked and chipped and the sink had a really bad brown stain all around the top of it. There was no fridge or water in the room. The mattress felt old and the towels and bedding were average at best. I had to pay another £66 to change to this room as well! And no hot water one morning!
- Salman (10/5): -
- Mark (10/5): Friendly, warm and welcoming. Very enjoyable evening meal too - Beautiful old building. Very comfortable room Nothing
- Gareth (9/5): - The food was amazing, staff were extremely helpful N/A
- furze (7/5): -
- Deborah (8/5): - Convenient and staff are lovely It is looking very tired and in desperate need of repair and decorating.
- Deborah (10/5): - Convenient Looking tired
- Yolanda Venessa (7/5): - Friendly and welcoming staff. In desperate need of an upgrade. Torn curtains.

- Amie (4/5): Aversge, the photos make it seem much nicer than it actually is - Great location The features were out of date, sometime dirty and just in need of TLC. The photos make it look like everything is brand new but I felt absolutely shafted with the thin and dirty carpets, radiator that I couldn’t turn off and other things.
- Katrina (1/5): Cold - Good location to a wedding we were attending Bedroom was so cold we didn’t sleep and had to put hoodies on at 2am to find some warmth
No hot water to shower with in the morning
Inedible cold breakfast and drinks in the morning
- Shane (8/5): -
- Neal (9/5): - Nice staff Ants in the room and no hot water
- Anthony (9/5): hit the spot - Nice quiet traditional English country hotel in a good location for travel connections to London. Room and en suite spotless, comfortable bed with windows that opened. Of especial note were clean and peaceful garden terrace and neat and spacious and peaceful gardens, much appreciated on a warm summer evening, together with large and easily negotiated car park with shading trees. Also a clean, quiet, and reasonably priced hotel bar, and polite and helpful reception/bar service/staff member, Alex, from Macedonia. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would recommend the establishment to anyone. nothing
- Karen (10/5): -
- Adam (10/5): -
- Rutendo (10/5): Highly recommend - The house itself is beautiful, luxuriously decorated room with 4 poster bed. staff were super pleasant and helpful. Customer service 10/10. Breakfast initially seemed small but certainly did what it needed to do. The room was a bit cold at night, stayed early December 2025. Wasn't a way we could find to make it warmer but the thick duvet certainly helped
- Giles (10/5): -
- Bartek (10/5): - Very nice hotel! Quiet and clean. Comfy beds and delicious breakfast
- Sonia (8/5): Enjoyable xx - Lovely quiet location
- Ruth Hubbard (8/5): -

- Alexis (9/5): -
- Sonia (8/5): A good location to visit south Oxfordshire. - It’s a quiet rural location N/ A
- Ian (8/5): - The onsite Indian / English restaurant was superb. Alex was extremely helpful and couldn’t do enough for us. The room was clean and tidy but could do with an update
- Turner (6/5): - Hotel was very clean but didn't look like what the photos are on booking.com it could do with a little TLC very dated. Staff very helpful and friendly 😊 restaurant was alot of Indian food which sadly we don't like and you could smell it though the hotel, but that is personal preference. Breakfast was good served on a nice hot plate.
- Marc (7/5): - Petit déjeuner peut être amélioré Chauffage
- Susan (10/5): Steventon hotel - The hotel was comfortable, staff very friendly and wanting to please us.
We enjoyed eating in the restaurant the food was delicious as was the breakfast in the dining room.
- Keelie (8/5): -
- Francisco Javier (10/5): -
- David (7/5): Great staff, great food, not so great room. - This is a pretty country hotel very close to the Harwell campus which I was visiting the next day. Brilliant staff, and a great breakfast. Dinner was in their India restaurant. The buttermilk chicken was one of the best curries I have enjoyed for a very long time. The room was in need of a refit. The TV didn't work and the bed too hard (for me anyway). The kettle needed attention as it didn't work, then it did. It was a good sized room though.
- Julia (5/5): For the amount paid the room was ok - On arrival, the exterior looked stunning, and the lady at the front desk was very nice, but the interior and the standard of the room were not as expected. The room surface level looked nice, but there were holes in the net curtains, dust on the furniture and a lot of limescale and dirt in the bathroom, especially around the sink. - Helen (9/5): - The breakfast was very good, hot and freshly cooked with a nice choice
- Geoff (9/5): very good comfortable stay - the hotel, room and restaurant were all excellent. The food in the restaurant in particular
- Victoria (5/5): -
- Shauna (7/5): Pleasant and lovely, breakfast was yummy! - Very pretty! Nice big spacious room! Was quite noisy with doors banging. Wish there was a bath!!! Rooms would benefit from a larger tv?
- Adara (5/5): -
- alan (10/5): Great overnight stay - Excellent
- Huw (9/5): -
- Aswin (9/5): -
- Ewa (7/5): Just basic clean room and very nice breakfast but very small portion. - Reception and breakfast room was very nice , cosy and beautifully decorated. Room very clean and everything was there what I needed but it wasn't any nice atmosphere or decor, just basic room. Breakfast- the smaller portions witch I ever had.
- Bhapinder (1/5): -
- Sonia (8/5): Very enjoyable! - Clean, friendly, good value for money. It’s in the Oxfordshire countryside so may be a little remote for some people.
- Vivien (1/5): Worst ever - Nothing Arrived to find toilet seat ready to fall off in the room designated. This got fixed. On return to hotel in the evening we were subjected to ongoing screaming and shouting, swearing and loud tv by the people in the room below us. Asked to be moved but nothing else available. Twice requested reception desk with the issue. Each time the noise would start up again. Floors and walls obviously too thin so could hear everything going on and being said. Decided by 11pm this wasn’t the type of establishment we wanted to stay the night and handed back the keys. Advised we’d be requesting a refund from management. Spoke to management, when they were available and they were initially willing to refund breakfast only, but after I said I’d be putting in a bad review, they rescinded the offer and not willing to refund d anything.
Would NOT recommend this hotel!!
- Sabine (8/5): -
- Hollie (5/5): Disappointed but good price. - Smelt of greasy food as soon as you walked through the door. Dirty walls in need of decorating throughout, It felt very dated even though photos make it look modern it didn’t give off that vibe. No one on reception at check out. Very cold.
- Claire (6/5): Stop off - Lovely building, spacious rooms, good services and nice breakfast (altho limited) Overpowering smell of food in reception from restaurant which stuck to clothes. Room was clean and well presented but cobwebs in corners and ceilings. Ripped net curtain. Limited breakfast menu - only 4 hot options
- Francesco (8/5): -
- Amanda (8/5): The lady who runs the hotel is so pleasant and kind - Beautifully decorated
- Ian (7/5): - Great restaurant although menu was a bit limited if you didn't like Indian cuisine, fortunately I do. Room decor rather tired.
- Nick (7/5): -
- Tracy (6/5): Not the best room, lovely food - Wi-Fi wasn’t the best, my colleague had a hair in her breakfast and she had a really poor apology and was not offered anything off her stay, evening food (Indian) was gorgeous but the sizes of the meals were quite small, they should increase the portions and price. Downstairs were decorated very nice but rooms are aged, mine had a radiator in the bathroom that had metal bubbling / peaking at the bottom, rooms need a deep clean, window sill rotten and bad marks on walls, the shower curtain as dirty/ moulding on the bottom edge and the rail of the shower curtain was bubbling and rusted
- Emily (10/5): Amazing - Lovely receptionist, location and building is stunning
- Paul (10/5): -
- Karen (3/5): Avoid! - Helpful, friendly staff Difficult to contact reception. Uncomfortable mattress. Persistent motor noise all night at one minute intervals! Towel with a hole in it. Curtain with no stop at the end, so it falls off if you open it!
- Joseph (6/5): - The hotel was quiet . Beautiful rooms and ambience The mattress was quite old
- Arpino (10/5): - The lady who took care of us and was pretty much running the show was amazing! Friendly, professional, and always willing to help. I would definitely recommend Steventon House if you're out and about in that part of the world.
- Tim (8/5): -
- Barbara (7/5): - The furnishings and decor is very smart but it needs a lick of paint on woodwork
- Rebecca (10/5): -
- Deborah (8/5): -
- Deborah (8/5): -
- Cyntica (10/5): Enjoyed my stay - Lovely property, very nice staff and the food is excellent. Rooms are spacious and clean. Not far from Bicester Village either.
- Jérôme (8/5): - Chambre spacieuse L'offre pour le petit déjeuner pourrait être améliorée
- Andrew (7/5): - Large rooms, good parking, pleasant staff, excellent restaurant. The windows need replacing. The wood is swollen preventing them from opening easily and staying open…. I had to prop one open with a bin.
There were reams of cobwebs outside the windows, so much so that you didn’t want to open the windows and it was a hot day.
No air-con and the fan the staff provided was very noisy.
- Slawomir (8/5): -
- Barbara (7/5): -
- Lucy (7/5): Great hotel for overnight business - Served its purpose for a business overnight trip. Is a big converted house into hotel. Friendly staff. Indian food. No comments here - would not be choice for leisure.
- Dawn (8/5): Value for money - Wonderful welcome, lovely staff. Easy to find, good parking. The building and decor a little tired in the older part of the hotel, but was clean.
