• Julie (10/5): - Nous avons adoré notre séjour à l’hôtel Foveaux à Bluff ! L’établissement a un charme un peu rétro dans sa décoration, mais c’est justement ce qui le rend chaleureux et authentique. En plus, il est extrêmement pratique, confortable et impeccable, ce qui rend le séjour encore plus agréable ! Le vrai point fort reste le personnel : une gentillesse incroyable du début à la fin. Toute l’équipe a été aux petits soins avec nous, toujours souriante et agréable à discuter. Ils nous ont même donné de très bons conseils pour la suite de notre roadtrip, ce que nous avons énormément apprécié. Un grand merci pour votre accueil et votre bienveillance, nous garderons un très bon souvenir de notre passage à Bluff !

I stayed here for one night with my friend, and we really enjoyed it. Although the hotel has a slightly older style, it is very clean, cozy, and well maintained. Honestly, I really liked the atmosphere, it felt warm and comfortable, and it was also very quiet. The owner was incredibly kind and gave us some great recommendations for local attractions and things to do nearby. The location is also very close to the coast, which was a big plus for us. I’m honestly not sure why some people would complain? our experience was nothing but positive. If I ever come back to New Zealand in the future, I would definitely stay here again. Nothing to complain.

• Franco (7/5): Quirky little hotel close to Bluff points of interest. - A quirky little hotel, with very friendly owners, to the point that they came out into the car park and ensured my car was within the range of the CCTV coverage. Very helpful and informative with local information. Bed was comfortable and bathroom was a good size. Though tea and coffee were available downstairs 24/7, it would be nice to have it in the room.

Not keen on stairs - to get luggage up and down, the owner helped me, so it was not an issue.

Owners were extremely friendly and went out of their way to be accomodating. They allowed us to park our car in their carpark when we went to stewart island. Walking distance to the ferry 200m. Would stay there again as we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. .

La chambre et la salle de bains étaient impeccables et confortables, on sent que le propriétaire des lieux tient à ce que tout soit en ordre et en parfait état pour recevoir ses clients. • Michael (9/5): Warmherzige Atmosphäre in guter Lage zum Fährenterminal nach Stewart Island - Die Atmosphäre der Unterkunft in dem kleinen Küstenstädtchen war wunderschön. Die Zimmer selbst waren gut, hervorheben möchten wir vor allem die Kommunikation mit dem Hotel. Mike war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Da sich unsere Ankunft verzögerte schickte er uns vorsichtshalber eine Nachricht um uns daran zu erinnern daß es im Ort um die Uhrzeit keine Abendessensmöglichkeiten mehr gäbe und wir daher auf der Strecke noch Vorräte besorgen sollten. Auch liess er uns das Auto auf dem Hotelparkplatz eine Nacht länger stehen, die wir auf Stewart Island verbrachten.

Pam und Mike geben sich alle Mühe ihren Gästen einen wunderbaren Aufenthalt zu ermöglichen und sie kümmern sich vorbildlich um ihre Gäste. Sie helfen auch, wenn man Tipps für die Umgebung benötigt und machen sich viele Gedanken. Wir haben uns hier sehr gut aufgehoben gefühlt und sehr gut ausruhen können. Das Hotel ist sehr sauber und es riecht immer hervorragend und frisch. Die Einrichtung erzählt eine Geschichte und hat sehr viel Charakter. Wir fanden es wirklich toll! Bluff ist wirklich sehr sehr toll und es lohnt sich an einem freien Tag zum Stirling Point zu gehen und von dort aus einmal rundum spazierzuwandern! Sollten wir irgendwann wieder an Bluff vorbeikommen, werden wir definitiv hier nächtigen! Es war alles perfekt!

• Desiree (10/5): Pam and Mike are the best! - Had originally booked another (more expensive) hotel in Bluff for the night before we took the ferry to Rakiura Stewart Island, but when I saw that a room had opened up here that wasn't when I originally booked the other place, I jumped on it and I am very glad I did. We loved the Art Deco design of the building and we were very comfortable in our room. It is also within walking distance of the ferry terminal, and several shops, including a supermarket (and there is a fridge for guests to put their cold things in back at the hotel). Pam and Mike are the kindest hosts - not only did they tell us about the local sights, but they also let us park our car in their carpark at no extra charge *and* they gave us a lift to the ferry. Upon our return, when Pam learned we had been seasick on a very rough ferry ride back to Bluff, she was so kind and made us ginger tea so we would feel better before setting off on the next leg of our journey. We are very glad we changed our booking to the Foveaux! We would totally stay here again. We should have booked a night at the Foveaux upon our return and relaxed post ferry, instead of just heading off to our next location. But as they say, hindsight is 20/20... More of a FYI than a dislike - several of the restaurants/cafes/takeaways in the area are shut on Mondays (you guessed it, we stayed on a Monday night), or shut earlier in the afternoon, so check ahead. We did get a yummy Chinese takeaway meal at the place next to the Foursquare. (And if all else fails, the Foursquare supermarket is open until 8pm...)

• Ursula (8/5): Gemütlicher Aufenthalt - Super sauberes Hotel, liebes Personal. Ein altes, etwas in die Jahre gekommenes Hotel mit gemütlichen Sitzbereich und sogar einer kleinen Bar. Kaffee und Tee war immer gratis vorhanden.Inhaber erlaubte mir sogar das Auto stehen zu lassen für meinen Besuch von Steward Island. Im Zimmer war kein einziger Haken um etwas aufzuhängen, aber das ist es auch schon.

After our boat trip was cancelled they were willing to change our reservation and also gave us separate rooms. The hotel is ideally located very close to the Shark Diving shop a few hundred meters away and Mike again was very accommodating with allowing us to leave our vehicle at the hotel car park, as parking is restricted on the street. Comfortable beds and great hot showers. Breakfast is available if pre booked, large widescreen TV in the communal lounge. Thank you 🙏 Mike and Pam for a great stay and all the very best 👍 Nothing!

Regular night time visits to the toilet was awkward as didn’t wish to disturb other guests or run into them in the hallway. Squeaky floor!

• Tiffany (9/5): The authentic feel of staying in a charming 1930s B&B style hotel - we were warm and comfortable. - The welcoming hosts on arrival after a long drive at night, with the offer of a cuppa and the handy information they gave about what to do in the area. The bed was comfortable, and we had a great night's sleep. We missed the Bluff oyster season by one week!
• Ijy (9/5): Very pleasurable stay - Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I was even driven to the shipyard. The room was very comfortable and shower was powerful. Tea and coffee facilities readily available. Information given about the surrounding area. Nothing to complain about!!

• Ranko (8/5): - Comfortable bed and very good breakfast options. Cosy lounge bar. Restaurant wasn't operating so food options in Bluff were limited.
• Olivia (10/5): - Un personnel très accueillant et à l’écoute, toujours attentif à nos besoins et à ceux de nos enfants. Malgré le fait que le Nouvel An soit un jour férié et que peu de commerces soient ouverts, ils ont eu de nombreuses petites attentions pour nous. Les gérants ont également pris beaucoup de temps pour nous expliquer les activités à faire dans la région. C’est un véritable hôtel familial, chaleureux et convivial.
• KH (8/5): - Location is perfect for Stewart Island ferry. Very friendly and helpful owners, even offered for us to leave our car and luggage with them for a few days. Room was clean and comfortable, on the small side but with an old-fashioned charm. . Due to staff illness there was no option for an evening meal.

• Stephen (8/5): Great staff (couple), ideal location near ferry terminal. Would use again - Very helpful and friendly staff. V close (walkable) to Stewart Island Ferry terminal. Free car parking at rear of hotel. Kindly allowed to stay in car parking during trip to the island Sadly they had no chef so evening meals were not available but a nearby restaurant was recommended and very acceptable. Our double bed could only be accessed from one side but we coped😂

• Philippa (10/5): Great place to stay ,old style,unpretentious and wonderfully clean - Great location in Bluff the hotel is a great old deco building The owners are a genuine and generous couple.
