• Andy (1/5): Avoid! - Walking distance to all shops in thamel I wasn't expecting luxury for the room price but this hotel is run down. The facilities of the room are outdated.. the toilet is dirty , the shower stinks. I had to change room as the first one has a sting smell of strain and humidity. The second room, still very neglected and dirty toilet. The bed and pillow sheets smell. At night, there was constant noise from the reception and local women walking / talking next to my door until late night. The room does not have any fan, so expect to open the window to get some air.

• Jennifer (8/5): - Friendly helpful staff got us settled in easily. They had no issue when we wanted to swap to a bigger room and did it cheerfully. Arranged taxi to airport. Rooftop was a great spot for a chill included breakfast. Had a delicious mutton biryani lunch as well. Great spot on the edge of Thamel on way to Durbar Square. Perfect to get away from the hustle and bustle when needed. Loved having a street facing window on the 3rd floor to hang out and watch the world go by. Yummy Japanese restaurant on first floor. Photos included of our meal there. A good mid range option. Nothing much really. Didn't realise from booking info that the hotel was on the 2nd floor and up but hey it's Nepal gotta expect some steps. Some tea and coffee in the room would have been good.

• Olalla (7/5): Estancia básica pero agradable - Personal súper amable. Terraza muy agradable para tomar el desayuno. Hotel familiar. La verdad que las piezas del baño no estaban muy limpias. No sé cual es su sistema de limpieza, pero desde luego que un paño no le pasan (quizás solo agua con detergente de forma general por todo). De todas formas, por el precio, nada que no se pueda solucionar con unas toallitas hidroalcólicas.

• Christian (8/5): A good choice for a few nights in Thamel - Very friendly stuff. The hotel has a nice roof terrace with a Restaurant. Breakfast is included in the room price. In the night it was more or less quiet.You are in Thamel.

Very basic - hostel level accommodation. Very nice staff but I wouldn’t recommend the stay there unless you’re looking for hostel type accommodation.

They helped me book tickets and packed me a to go breakfast as I was leaving early the next morning . The location is great. My room was really really noisy and I could hear everything. The traffic, people talking, the TV on in the next room . I wouldn't stay there again due to the noise The fan in the room was so loud that I couldn't use it .

• ejebrown (10/5): A hidden gem! - This hotel is in the heart of Thamel, close to shops, restaurants, the palace, the Garden of Dreams, and a longer walk or a short taxi ride to Swayambhunath and Durbar Square. It’s a great place to stay with a young family: there’s lots of do nearby. Our room was clean and quiet. Everything was in good working order. The staff were really kind and helped us plan trips, book taxis, and gave us tips for activities with our child. The breakfast was delicious!

• Paulo (8/5): Very good - Good location in Thamel and quiet at night as the rooms are in a courtyard and not facing the street. Easy check in. Friendly staff who can speak English fluently and they helped me carry my heavy suitcase. The food served on the rooftop was actually nice, particularly the breakfast which was probably the best I've had during my trip in Nepal. Good value for money, wifi was reliable although a bit slow at times. When I entered my room, there was an awful smell of cigarette all over the curtains, pillows and bedsheets. I went out for dinner and turned on the AC but when I came back the smell was still lingering...it was really unpleasant. The cleaning staff did not empty the trash bin which had several cigarette butts and some runny liquid. Guests should not be allowed to smoke in the rooms. After I complained about this, they put me in a different room the next day which was much better.
• Samantha (9/5): Great deal at a clean hotel with kind staff - We loved the staff. The breakfast was great and up on a beautifully peaceful rooftop dining area. The building was nice and we felt very welcome. Our stay included water bottles as well. The wifi was great and the location was perfect. Outside, there were so many shops and good restaurants down cute alleys. I would stay here again. We also took advantage of the airport pick up. They were right on time and organized. We had a little trouble sleeping because of the pillows. Not a big deal.

• kbond360 (10/5): Great value hotel in the centre of Thamel - Great hotel in the tourist centre of Thamel. Super friendly and helpful staff make Hotel Namtso feel safe and welcoming. My brother and I stayed here several times during our trip and we always looked forward to staying in the big, quiet rooms with comfy beds & great showers - especially after trekking in the mountains or wandering the Kathmandu streets. Also serves fantastic food on the rooftop restaurant - big breakfasts and superb curries were amongst the dishes we tried.

I can hardly think of anything. Maybe the water in the shower wasn't really warm in the evening, but the next morning it was perfect.

• Madeleine (7/5): Easy, comfortable place to stay in Thamel. - This was a nice comfortable and affordable stay in Thamel. The staff was welcoming and accommodating. The room was clean, beds were comfortable, shower was nice. The noise from the street was pretty disruptive while trying to sleep. We couldn't fully close one of our windows so that made it extra loud. And some of the outlets in the room didn't work.
• Michelle (8/5): Overall very good stay. - There is always hot water for the shower, the hotel is located in a quiet area but still central. Overall very good value for the money. The furniture and some rooms could be renovated but for a hotel in Thamel with this pricd is not an issue at all.
• James (8/5): Very good - Great location, nice view outside of the rooms. On top of a great eccentric Japanese cafe worth having breakfast each morning. Namtso also has a rooftop kitchen with tasty food and good views. room lacks fine quality, probably not an issue if you're a trekker
• Anali (1/5): Wish I could say something better - The location was good, the front desk people were also very nice although I did complain about noisy people and it happened again the next night They put me on the fourth floor. Whatever you do, don’t accept the 4th floor. It seems to me they rent these rooms to local workers, say workers that work in restaurants until midnight (I have no evidence of this) but by 12:30 a bunch of men were arriving to their rooms, speaking Nepali and being loud and disrespectful to people sleeping. Next to my room which was in a corner, some of these people were sleeping and were smoking in the bathroom and it would come into my bathroom through the vent and then into the bedroom. On the last morning of the two nights I lost my sock, so I opened the bed to see in the sheets and I found A LOT of small rd dots on the white sheets, as if there were fleas or bed bugs. I’m sorry. I know this is not good for the hotel but this is true. I did not get any bug bite, but the fact that the dots were still red made me think the sheets were not laundered. I don’t know. It was disgusting. I didn’t realize this until the last morning. Also, after the first night I complained to the front desk about the loud guests and they said they would talk to the guests but it happened again. :-(

The staff were very friendly and always helpful. Breakfast, which is included, was delicious and served on the terrace. They also had a good menu of many items all the food was excellent! It was a perfect spot to rest and recuperate after a long journey. I would recommend staying at Hotel Namtso, it had lots of charm and great value and qualities I was looking for. The kind staff, great food and location were definitely a selling point for me.
