- Kellie (7/5): Beautiful resort with true luxury potential in the future, with some improvements - Beautiful pool, nice loungers, and lovely design / decor in common areas. The bar and restaurant staff were awesome and helpful. Rooms were spacious, clean, and had a very pretty aesthetic. Front desk / concierge were VERY disorganized with transfer bookings, could not answer basic questions, and did not meet “4-star boutique luxury” service standards generally. Housekeeping was OK, but did not meet expectations overall. Food quality was hit or miss. This is unlikely to happen frequently, but it’s worth noting that the property allowed movie filming to take place onsite without requiring a buyout from the film company, which made the entire place feel chaotic during my stay. They closed down their only indoor restaurant and some facilities / common spaces due to this. Very disappointing that they didn’t warn customers in advance in order to offer them a chance to rebook elsewhere for a more relaxing stay - I wouldn’t have stayed at this hotel had I known that filming was to be taking place on property and that the facilities would be impacted.
- Passenger05105884607 (2/5): DON’T DO IT - The hotel is far from everything. There is nothing around. Beach with no lounge chairs. Leaks in the villas. It is located next to a very poor neighborhood. We were afraid to go out. Two days without hot water and mold in the room. Cleaning very late we had to call several times. Concierge does not work. No help. We will not return.
- James (3/5): Nice facility with good location. Sadly, the stench of rotting Sargasso was overpowering. - Rooms and facilities are nice. Pool is great. Breakfast was great. The stench of rotting Sargasso was overwhelming. Its not the hotel's fault but it made our stay quite unpleasant. We were there for 1 night. If our stay was any longer, we would probably have found another hotel.

La nourriture du restaurant est très bonne. La piscine est splendide. La chambre très bien équipée, bien décorée et confortable. Un gros travail doit être réalisé au niveau du service du personnel et de l’entretien pour atteindre le niveau que cet hôtel devrait avoir. Je déconseille d’y aller en période des sargasses l’odeur y est nauséabonde.

The atmosphere was nice and relaxing which is just what we were looking for on our honeymoon. The rooms were great and definitely recommend at loft room if it’s an option! The daily cleaning and the value of the room was also great.

Concierge rented our golf cart for the week, booked our excursions, and took care of our travel. We did an inner reef fishing trip and brought fish back to the kitchen and they cooked it for us. Carlos and Delphin were awesome, helpful, gave us a bunch of recommendations and good conversation. My wife and I would visit this place again in a heartbeat!

The accommodations were beautiful, luxurious, and everything we hoped for in a Belize family vacation. The villas were spacious, comfortable, and gave our family the perfect place to relax and enjoy our time together. The food at the restaurant was top-notch from beginning to end—every meal was excellent, fresh, and beautifully prepared. The entire property felt polished, peaceful, and worthy of a true luxury experience. What stood out most was the exceptional level of service. The front manager, Louis, went above and beyond to make sure our family was taken care of. There was unfortunately a seaweed issue affecting the beach and the odor was difficult, but the way the staff handled it made all the difference. They responded immediately, listened to our concerns, and accommodated us by moving our family to the lagoon side, which completely changed the dynamic of our stay and allowed us to fully enjoy the resort. That level of professionalism and genuine care showed us exactly what great hospitality looks like. We truly felt like five-star guests from the moment we arrived until the day we left. Challenges can happen anywhere while traveling, but how a resort responds is what matters most—and Itz’ana handled it exceptionally well. We are very grateful for the experience and would absolutely return.

There was no attempt to clean the beach, however, neighboring resort Naia had cleaned their beach, there was no sargassum, and no stench. The building near the pool area was being pressure washed with scaffolding blocking one entry to the main hotel building. More frustrating was the loud sound at the pool, the only usable outdoor space. One pool bartender was rude, the other pool bartender seemed irritated when I asked for a towel from the towel storage area behind him. However, the worse issue was finding that the fire alarm had been pulled/permanently disabled inside the room. When talking to the manager we found that he talked over us, was rude and argumentative, and he shared that they would give no refunds for our three nights. We left and went to another resort within 90 minutes of arrival.

Not as well organized and housekeeping was not great - only came to our villa around 4 to 5 pm after we had requested a cleaning and was not ideal since we were trying to get ready for dinner. Concierge services were not as well organized as Ka’ana. Food was great and service was faster overall. We recommend 1981 restaurant and Mare at Turtle Inn for dinner.
- 97tiaj (2/5): 0/10 - Discrimination, Disrespect, and Awful Service. - I decided to book this resort to get away from the large amounts of foot traffic in San Pedro. Unfortunately, my experience left me in tears and very uncomfortable during my (non-refundable) stay. As soon as I reached this "resort," I was met with discrimination. As a Black solo traveler, the person at the front desk seemed eager to avoid me and be stand-offish. I felt my check-in process was different from those of other guests who checked in right before me and right after me. I was left seated in a hot lobby area long after my room was ready, after watching other guests check right in and be escorted to their rooms (these guests happened to be all Caucasian). > The Resort - is not as advertised. The room was OLD and RUN DOWN. From dirty curtains barely hanging on, cracked ceilings, walls, and a LEAKING bathroom sink NO ONE FIXED. I was disappointed with the entire accommodation. I requested the sink in the room be fixed, maintenance came.... did not fix the sink... made some weird excuse as to fixing the "cold water handle" on the left sink.... I did not even know it was not working..... ONLY to then find that the right side of the sink had no working cold water ... this also went unfixed. I spent an entire week with water dripping onto the bathroom floor... a contaminated mess due to there being MOLD also in the area where the leak originated. In my initial service request, I stated the sink was leaking, and there was MOLD present; this was overlooked, and they offered me no real solution. Also, on my very first day, I asked the same front desk rep (who was behaving in a discriminatory manner) to remove all of the contents of the hotel rooms SMALL fridge, so I could accommodate my own personal items, and she gave nothing but attitude and rudeness. > The food - this "resort" has a pool bar, a restaurant, and a lounge bar (this was open upon request, but who would want to sit in this HOT no AC area by themselves?) The pool and the restaurant share menus and the same kitchen, which was unexpected as I dined for lunch in the restaurant and was given a pool menu... even as I sat in the restaurant to eat, they provided me with old and sketchy plastic cupware as if I was sitting in the pool area. I was taken aback. The food itself was FLAVORLESS and bland. Everything I ate at this resort upset me. The quality of the food was so poor that you would have thought I was eating off a day-old buffet. Seemingly the type of food you would find at a lack-luster all-inclusive resort. Each meal was met with mandatory gratuities and taxes. I found that if you had the same server from a previous meal and "if" you tipped them, they tried a little harder on your next dining experience. (I do not particularly appreciate this type of dining experience, especially when the food was AWFUL each and every time. One day, while sitting at the actual pool, I ordered Shrimp Tacos and Corn - this made me sick to my stomach, and I lost an entire vacation evening. - At dinner on my second night, I thought I found a good food option (the beef pasta); however, halfway into the dish, I was disgusted when I came upon the membrane of whatever meat was used inside the dish. This almost sent me over the edge; thankfully, a family dining in the bar area turned the night around. The hotel shuttle to the neighboring village was great; however, during my stay, they only operated one shuttle for however many guests were on the resort. This was an inconvenience when booking dinners or activities, as sometimes the schedule of the shuttle did not align. > The beach - this was MAN-MADE, the beach is a CLIFF. You need to hop down to get into the water and hope and pray you don't fall when trying to climb out of this pit. Pitiful excuse for a resort beach. > Housekeeping - although very efficient, there were no DND signs provided, and during the time I was not feeling well after eating at the pool... a housekeeper - in my opinion - tried to break into my room. banging on the door trying to gain entry or trying to open the sliding door of the room, waking me out of my sleep. Or when I passed a housekeeper in the morning and said, "Room 8 does not need service," I would come back to the room, and it was indeed serviced. They took my personal towel and replaced it with the stained towels they use on the property. > Room service - on the only instance I ordered room service, due to not feeling well enough to go to dine in the restaurant or off the property, I was left in tears. I called as instructed to place an order, and I was then told to text my order to the same number. Okay. I sent my order via text, only to receive an incomplete and small portion size for the large price tag attached. I gathered the strength to walk to the front desk to address the issue, and I was met by the manager accusing me of making up the discrimination I experienced by the front desk woman (after I left a Google review of my experience). The Kitchen remade the salad I ordered, and the lettuce was wilted and soggy. > The bartenders - they were all very friendly but lacked experience and skill to make the simplest of drinks. Outside of the rosemary signature cocktail they offered, every drink was disgusting. Basic margaritas were off-tasting, and the inability to Google ingredients for drinks guest suggest lacked, and they literally threw anything into a cup and served it. >> As an African American, female, EXPERIENCED Solo traveler, this was the worst vacation I have ever had in my 30 years of life.

The villa had everything we needed and more, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We ate at the restaurant for breakfast every day and had a couple of delicious dinners outside on the patio. A great location to launch adventures out to the barrier reef cayes from!

It's more of a Boutique adult quiet place. my mother and I stayed there for about a month which is a lot longer than most people I know. But we got excellent service the food was good the people are what makes this Resort. Friendly super accommodating anytime you need something they're there to help. If you can get a golf cart it really helps with getting around cuz you're about a 10-minute golf cart drive to the tourist area. It's perfect for people who just want quiet, great conversation w the people who work there.Angelita was our "go to girl" she remembers your like and dislikes and Delphine & JD were super great as well. The snorkeling and the scuba diving is out of this world get a private boat if you can and go out to the edge of the reef it takes about 3 hours but it is completely worth it and usually no other tourists around.

- kaybru (8/5): Stunning pool and lovely rooms - shame about the service! - We stayed for a week and enjoyed it. The rooms are great with comfy beds and excellent quality bed linen and pillows. The pool is possibly the best I have ever swum in - it is stunning, huge and a wonderful temperature - an absolute joy to be in. There is not much of a beach due to erosion, however what is there is nice and sandy. They need to invest in more sun loungers on the beach however as they only had two loungers and one daybed for a large hotel which is not enough. Yes they had some beanbags but who wants to lie on a beanbag?! The service at the hotel is very hit and miss. If you get the right server you have a good experience, however, the majority of the time I would say that the service is a bit chaotic and not to the standard I would expect from a quality hotel. Staff forgot about orders twice in one week and we were not the only ones to suffer with this issue. One day there were no pool towels at all for the entire day. So would I recommend this hotel? Yes for the facilities and location, no for the service. The food is average so we went into town most nights on the shuttle which is very efficient (but chargeable).

- Lvillejoe (8/5): Nice property, mediocre restaurant - The grounds, pool, main building, dining room and bar are all very nice … worthy of the high ratings this hotel receives. We had to be moved from our poolside “deluxe” room as the AC was inoperable. We were relocated to the “marina-side” villas across the road and away from the pool and the Caribbean Sea. We were initially not pleased, but the villas are two story, fully equipped units with a private plunge pool, kitchen, living room and a main suite with very nice bath and balcony looking to the west and sunsets. We rented a golf cart (this should have been done in advance but we lucked out with a last minute cancellation.). The golf cart enabled us to go to town for shops and dinners as we did not find Itz’ana’s restaurant to be terribly good (lunch and poolside service were very good.). We had the included continental breakfast once and did not go back the remaining mornings we were there With better dining we would have rated this 5 stars. The coffee shop on the marina side served up good espresso drinks with friendly service while their baked goods were just ok.

- nycbos8 (8/5): Mixed experience but lots of potential - This hotel has so much potential. Their main building, called the Great House is beautiful - styled in Caribbean colonial vibes. My room was much more basic and showed some signs of aging. Their beachfront suites seemed much nicer from the outside though I never got a chance to take a look inside. The property is really nice, complete with a huge infinity pool, well maintained sandy beach, and plenty of nice touches - bonfires, corn hole, standup paddle boards, kayaks, etc. Service was mixed. Some of the staff was really friendly. Some seemed completely indifferent. That was disappointing. The resort is a 15 min drive from Placencia Village. My biggest complaint was that I had construction in front of my room the whole time. Extremely loud sawing, drilling, and hammering began at 8am in the morning and went through the entire day. Hopefully if you come, you won't have to deal with this unpleasant disturbance.

The great house makes you feel like you’re visiting friends alongside the beach. Their infinity pool is remarkable and the best that we have seen in Placencia or any other place. The surroundings are so peaceful despite being just off the main road. The beachfront is remarkably well kept. October is a good time to come as The waters and beach were clear of sargassum. Thanks to Janelle, Felipe, Yancey, Eden and all the others for making our stay and weekend warm and relaxing.

The villas and lofts are so spacious and modern, there is room for the whole family to relax. The food is great and the staff is so kind and hospitable. My daughter had the best time and also can’t wait to return. We visit Belize each year and this was one of our favorite trips because Itzana was truly a dream. The private plunge pools are beautiful and you don’t even have to leave your room to get the full experience.

Great location. - Visiting Belize in August means slow tourist season and we shared this beautiful Itz'ana resort with only a few others, which we loved. The entire property was very clean, well manicured, and continually maintained during our stay. We had a beautiful villa overlooking the Caribbean Sea with the beach in front of us. The service and amenities were excellent and accommodating, with the perfect personal touch. All the staff asked our names (and remembered them) and made sure to pamper us. The food was excellent, and the menu was sophisticated with something for all, maintaining a traditional Belizian cuisine. The beautiful pool deck is one of our favourite places ever. Excellent yoga instruction M/W/F above the Great Room. The property is close to Placencia for all the amenities but away from the bustle. During our stay we visited several other resorts for meals, etc (including a noted one owned by a celebrity), but Itz'ana is where we will return, no question. A true luxury experience. - Safari60285907009 (10/5): Itz'ana Resort is a MUST! - If you're staying in Placencia, I highly recommend this resort. Before we even got to Itz'ana, the staff was so helpful and accommodating. We forgot to schedule a shuttle pick up from Placencia airport to the resort. When we called, they had staff there within 10 minutes to pick us up. Our driver (I'm sad I didn't get his name) was friendly and gave us great tips to enjoy our stay. All of the shuttle drivers (Jamal is the only name I got unfortunately) were fantastic. They got us to our destinations quickly and safely and provided excellent recommendations along the way. The front desk staff was amazing. Eric and Evelyn are so sweet and attended to everything we needed. They provided fast, friendly service and made us feel welcomed from beginning to end. Staff at the Limilia restaurant was also superb. Angie (Angelita), Amir, and Mark are the best in the service industry. I can't say enough about how amazing they were. This trip was for my birthday and they did everything to make it extra special. From the amazing food to a surprise birthday cake! They greeted us by name every time and made us feel like family. I highly recommend the restaurant and asking for any one of these amazing people to be your servers. You will not be disappointed. The resort itself - WOW. Our room was more than expected. Huge bed and bathroom, beautiful balcony with seats and a lounge bed. Staff brought our luggage up for us which was super helpful. The pool was incredible! Huge and the beach was right behind it. The swings on the beach were my favorite part. Such a beautiful way to watch the sunrise. The Biblio Bar was perfect for a book nerd like me. I cant say enough about the resort. Such a beautiful location with beautiful people. I truly recommend staying here. You will love it, I promise.

There’s plenty of greenery around and a nice pool – perfect for relaxing. I especially appreciated the idea of morning coffee on the beach at sunrise – such a unique and thoughtful touch. The rooms are spacious, with a huge bed and a large balcony where you can truly unwind. Definitely a place worth recommending for those looking for comfort and character. The restaurant staff often made mistakes with our orders – a few times we received something different than what we had asked for. We were also talked into ordering very expensive drinks that we didn’t really want. The exception was the manager from Chile – he was genuinely attentive, cared about the guests, and spoke with everyone with sincere interest. His commitment and kindness really stood out to us. The beach had strong waves and quite a lot of seaweed during our stay, but this didn’t affect our opinion of the hotel – it's something beyond their control.

- Wander34886389901 (8/5): Very enjoyable stay at Itz'ana - Overall we had a very pleasant stay at Itz'ana. This is one of the nicest hotels in Placencia, which is a great laid back destination for families. We rented a 3 bedroom villa on the beach, which was beautiful and right outside our villa. The inside of the villa was very comfortable. We asked for housekeeping each day, which the staff provided. One of the 3 pools in between the villa rooms was a bit green, the staff said it had been sitting unused for an extended period, as we came during the slower rainy season. They cleaned it and did some maintenance on the equipment, restoring it to swimmable condition. We had some ants in the main kitchen area and pointed it out to management, saying they would tell the staff about it, but this never got attended to. I think this is one of the realities of being in Belize. The pool area and restaurant were very comfortable and enjoyable. The staff definitely operate on "island time," nothing is rushed. The only negatives, being the slower rainy season, staffing was low, some things were closed or had limited hours. Despite that, all of the staff were accommodating. It was difficult sometimes to get someone at the hotel on the phone, Whatsapp or email are the preferred method of communication. They went out of their way to reschedule our domestic flight from Belize City after our incoming international flight was delayed and we missed our connection. All things being said, we would have no hesitation to return to Itz'ana!

My wife is better now. At checkin, they took us to the wrong room and had to figure out what was going on. It was a late checkin and night shift may not have been prepared for our arrival. Not a big deal, they got it figured out and moved us. We smelled mold after walking into the room. My wife opened the cabinet door and saw mold on the inside, particularly on the inside of the doors. The began cleaning everything. We could not get rid of the smell, and we began to cough. The next day, we thought we would open the doors to the patio and air it out. We didn’t want to run the air conditioning when the doors were open so we turned it off. The concrete floor and walls started sweating water, so much water and it was completely wet. We closed the patio door, turned on the air conditioning and set the dry function. All the water went away, as long as the air conditioning was running with the dry function on. Knowing this, I think that this room gets really wet when guests are not present, the air conditioning is turned off and the water returns. These would definitely cause mold. I don’t know how they are going to fix this, but it is a problem. We got sick from it. The next con was the complimentary breakfast menu. We had 1 option, and not the best option. The sister resort in San Ignacio was much better and I did give them 5 stars. We stayed 5 days, we should have had better options for complimentary breakfast. Restaurant staff were great. Hotel check-in was okay and staff were friendly. The hotel needs more active management. Some guess set dirty dishes and glasses outside their rooms and they literally sat there for 3 days because no managers were walking around, checking out the property and directing the staff. They need to improve this. The pool was beautiful. Access to the beach was great, but the water was choppy during our stay, not their fault. We loved the cocoplum trees. We loved the iguanas and agoutis living on the property. We loved all the trees. We didn’t swim in the sea but had a great time chilling on the beach. Improve the menu at the restaurant. Improve the choices for complimentary breakfast, this is a pricey resort. Managers should walk and check the property to make sure things are being maintained and remain clean. I am not sure how you can fix the mold problem in the rooms, but something needs to be done about that too. Guests are not going to be happy, if they walk away from their stay sick.

- NorCalVoyager (10/5): Beautiful location - Very comfortable room with great air conditioning. The grounds were lovely- beautiful pool and beach front. Restaurant was quiet but VERY good. Very friendly and helpful staff. We stayed here before chartering a boat with the Moorings(very close) and we will stay again when we return from our sailing trip in 2 weeks.
- jontR1408DM (10/5): Relaxed luxury on the beach - Beautiful large freshwater pool, lovely beachfront property, luxurious linens and comfortable beds, great service from a friendly staff, especially Carlos, Delfin, and Angelita. The lunch menu was very tasty and serving sizes were impressive (and served till 5!), a comparative value to the supper menu. Next door to Seine Bight village for amenities and local food. A true local Garifuna village, there are no real “touristy” options like in Placencia. Well kept grounds, the main house is beautiful and welcoming. The yoga class was well paced and most enjoyable. Bikes and concierge were appreciated.

The staff truly made the experience even better—they were incredibly kind, welcoming, and attentive to every detail. You can really tell they care about their guests. We left feeling refreshed and taken care of, and there’s no doubt we’ll be back in the future. Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Belize!

- Karen (6/5): Management should be change - While your resort was really lovely, our experience was ruined by your decision to host a large group of over 125 people without informing us in advance or providing alternative accommodations. We were told at check-in that we would be barred from using the outdoor eating areas for ALL meals while we were there. Bad enough but even the pool itself could not be used due to the large group taking it over and disturbing everyone with their loud and drunken behavior from early morning until very late at night. It felt like we were in the middle of a disgusting drunken fraternity party. The staff could do nothing about it and management never even tried and moreover said absolutely nothing to us or even apologize to us throughout our stay. Hosting a group like this certainly damaged your reputation but even worse not caring about the ten guests not part of the group will have a lasting negative impact. If management wants to host such a large group they should insist the group buys out the resort for the event and they should not be accepting reservations from other guests who would be severely impacted by the large group. This was a disgrace and we intend to post this online to make others aware.

- jessicalX968CU (10/5): Hit it out of the park - As a central american travel agent I am quite picky about the hotels I visit, stay in and actually enjoy. I visited 4 hotels while in Placencia and Itz'ana takes the cake. The food, the service, the attention, and the tours that this hotel planned for me and my group were absolutely amazing. By far the best we had in the area. I can understand how some get upset about the sargassum that sometimes washes up on the shore, but there's nothing that the hotel can do about this as it's a natural phenomenon that happens during the hotter months. To be honest that didn't bother us a tiny bit. We had dinner out on the beach which is an experience I highly recommend and the rooms were HUGE. We stayed in the two bedroom beach front loft and the view of the master bedroom with the plunge pool is the most "beachfront" you can get in many parts of central america. It was stunning. The welcome cards, the daily greetings by staff, the curated hotel tours and so much more made this trip handsdown our best in the area. Thank you to all Itz'ana staff for hosting us, we will be back and wehope to send lots of our travelers, too!

- Basso07 (6/5): Terrible service and beach, pretty property - We were so disappointed with this hotel. We stayed at a beachfront loft, which was spacious and had a full kitchen and washer / dryer. But the room is full of windows with zero covering, so the sun would pour in at 5am and wake the kids up. Super fun. The service was average to poor. Definitely not luxury service (this hotel has an SLH certification). So many shortcomings, listed below. They also tried to charge us $50 PER NIGHT for a tiny crib and it’s not stated anywhere on their site. The beach was terrible when we visited. Very rough and with miles of sargassum. We were heartbroken we couldn’t swim in the ocean. Also just be aware the private pools are in the shade in the afternoon. Our kids didn’t care but I wouldn’t have used it without kids Issues: 1- before the trip I tried to coordinate a snorkel trip with the concierge via WhatsApp and several times / days she’d just stop responding despite me prodding over and over. I finally gave up 2- I let them know in advance we’d be arriving early and they still made us wait for a room even though the property was mostly empty 3- when I asked for a bottle opener from my room, that told me to go to the restaurant to get it opened instead of bringing me one -.- 4- they do not setup the beach chairs or have anyone come to check on you if post up on the beach 5- we asked housekeeping to come in the morning while we were out and instead they came in the evening while we were trying to put the kids to sleep 6- we were incorrectly told we could check out before our 7am flight 7- they charge 2x more for golf carts than if you just walk down the street Prices in general were crazy, eg $8 for two sausages
- cndseetheworld (10/5): Beautiful hotel in Placencia - This is a beautiful boutique hotel in Placencia, the outdoor restaurant and pool area is stunning. The rooms are of a high standard (even if the shower takes a good 5 mins to get hot). There is an in room water filter which is a great idea. A great place to relax. The village is around a 90 minute walk, but there are restaurants and bars close by and the hotel offers a shuttle which is $5 per person per way plus tax. The staff at the front desk are very attentive, and they use what’s app so it’s easy to get in touch. We booked most of our trips with other operators as the hotel prices are very high. We are diamond members and I’m not sure if the hotel staff are up to date on the benefits. We didn’t receive a welcome as a diamond member and when I asked about a room upgrade it took a while to find that it was a benefit for us. We stayed here for 4 nights and were able to receive an upgrade for our last two nights. Only a Continental breakfast is included which is fruit, toast, pastries and juice but there are so many other great things on the menu it would be better if you could pay extra to to upgrade your breakfast instead of ordering two and wasting a lot of food (which we did most mornings).

The staff were amazingly friendly and efficient, and we would return in a heartbeat. We look forward to returning and spending another fabulous time there.

- SLTexas (10/5): Highly recommend! - My sister and I stayed 3 nights and wish we could’ve stayed longer. The staff was friendly and helpful. Pool was beautiful and clean. The view of the Caribbean Sea was breath taking. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The driver was able to take us anywhere on the peninsula for a small fee. Tours were able to pick us up at the resort. We did not have a car, and it was not a problem. We would definitely stay again.

It's close to a grocery store and local restaurants. We recommending renting a golf cart if you want to explore the rest of the peninsula.
