- Heather (6/5): Not the best city view in a city view room. - Arrived late due to travel delays. Was able to have room service first night. Limited menu but nice. Had reserved City View room, see pictures for view advertised vs actual view. Room was nice and clean but as stay progressed housekeeping did not remove trash, replace water cups or restock mini bar. Never repaired latch on door as requested. Asked to replace dirty towels and bathrobes on 3rd day by putting in tub per instructional card. They just rehung the same dirty robes. Replaced only half the towels. While the hotel is further from the city it is nice and quiet. But honestly maybe not worth the addition cost or travel time. Staff very nice and professional.

We arrived to a beautiful hotel and a team that wanted to know about us, genuinely curious, led by the remarkable Francois who, once he learned that we were going to walk the Puy, shared an enthusiasm that was infectious. That the rooms are gorgeous is almost a given. They are. As are the pool and bar. Francois embodies grace. Wow.

- John (10/5): - Just a short walk up the hill from the center of old town, right below the Roman theaters. This hotel was 5 star all the way. In particular the concierge gave us top recommendations for sight seeing and restaurants. Our room had a view of the picturesque and tranquil gardens of the courtyard which was amazing to sit on our balcony each morning and have coffee.

Every single staff member we encountered was excellent. The concierge made dinner reservations for us on two of the nights we stayed, and his recommended restaurants were incredibly good!! He definitely knows where to find the best meals so absolutely go with his advice on where to eat! The balcony was large and inviting with a great view. Highly recommended!

Our room was facing a serene garden and had a huge balcony where we could relax after a day of sightseeing or enjoy a wonderful meal from the room service. The staff was exceptional - everyone at the reception, the room service and especially the concierge did their utmost to make our stay comfortable. The concierge was very knowledgeable about the restaurants and other sights in Lyon and made sure that we got the best experience. The hotel amenities and ambiance were amazing! In our travels we’ve discovered that not all the 5 star hotels deserve their ratings. Villa Maia truly deserves it and more! We highly recommend this hotel and would not hesitate to stay there again in the future.

- Julia (10/5): Lovely view of Lyon - The hotel is quite modern with a lovely view of Lyon. Our room was very large with a king size bed, a desk, several chairs and a table. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. We did not eat in the restaurants but ordered coffee in the room and they were kind enough to include some croissants one day and mini pancakes the next. There are many restaurants nearby in Vieux Lyon but you will want good walking shoes for the steep hill or stairs. There are Roman ruins and the basilica very close by. We did not try the pool or gym as we were too busy but I wish we had.

A five minute walk past Roman ruins leads to a fun three minute ride on the funicular taking you up to one of the most magnificent cathedrals in all of Europe or down to the heart of the city. After a full day whether as a tourist or on business, the hotel’s luxury spa and acclaimed restaurant await you.
- dana (8/5): Villa Maia is our new go to hotel in Lyon - Villa Maia is high in the hills of Lyon. It has an amazing view and is a beautiful new more modern hotel. The customer service is impeccable. We had an issue with one person but it was her own lack of generosity during the Women's World Cup events taking place at the hotel. No biggie. The amenities and rest of the staff were remarkable. Room service and food were delicious. The rooms and beds are very comfortable. Our room had a view of the river from our wonderful deck. The spa area is very small and mainly a space to pass through to the pool. The breakfast options are the best in the city for what is offered. The pool is indoors with an understated comfort zen like feel and the room amenities are generous and fun.

When we arrived some pushy guests pushed in front of us at recption and kept all four staff occupied while we stood and waited. Pity. The staff were too busy with other important guests. The rooms are large and modern. Breakfast was ok. Do not order room service, they mains are heated up pre prepared meals. Shame.

- Mary (10/5): - We cannot fault anything about Villa MAÏA, no request is too hard no matter how little or how big. From the impeccable service to the comfort of the room we were extremely happy with this hotel. It is perfectly situated at the top of the old city and the funicular is just a few meters away if you don’t want to walk back up. On our last night our concierge organised a restaurant that cooked traditional lyonnaise food which we enjoyed thoroughly. We have no hesitation recommending Villa MAÏA to all our friends and family travelling to Lyon.

Our room was spacious, with a balcony and a fantastic view of Lyon. The staff was incredible, very polite and helpful in every way, the breakfast was good. We have no complains, highly recommended. There is a Michelin restaurant one step away, which is one more plus. Thanks again to the great stuff!
