Guest Reviews
- Chris (4/5): Wouldn't recommend Katoomba Hotel - Not a lot Room extremely small, no room to store suitcases without tripping over them on the way to the even smaller bathroom.
- Mckendry (5/5): - Good location and friendly staff! Small room and shower.
It was noisy but was a Saturday night.
- Leni (10/5): -
- YendaA (8/5): Convenient and clean - First floor room. Double bed and a single. Very clean. Bed very comfortable and assorted pillows - soft and firmer. Room 3 had a very small bathroom - OK for me but not so good for a large person. Quiet at night and courteous staff. Blind is not a blockout so some light in the room at night. No lift. Restaurant downstairs was a pleasant place for dinner. Close to the Main Street of Katoomba and the railway station. Above a pub. Parking was possible.
- Andrew (5/5): - Room very small
Had to carry luggage up stairs
- Catherine (7/5): -
- Qi (4/5): - Staff Very shabby. Noicy due to the music from the pub downstairs. Very small bathroom.
- Hervelemarathonien (10/5): Excellent séjour au Blue Mountains. Excellent restaurant - La proximité de la gare. La gentillesse du personnel. Ils ont accepté un check in early.
- Nicholas (10/5): Excellent staff,food good.room nice - Everything All good
- Doug (8/5): - All Good!
- princessriffraff (6/5): No frills but gets the job done. - We needed a one night stay in Katoomba. This hotel was no frills and basic. Beds weren’t the most comfortable and the shower was small (hope you can fit in) as was the shower head…so the steam of water was also small.
Service at the hotel was good, food was okay. They do have smoking area in the open courtyard. Bonus - parking is available in the back.
- Dave (6/5): Good enough - Cheap, Cheerful and clean. It was all good for a pub top stay. No so good for a wife looking for a ritzy stay. Cardboard cups and no free WiFi.
- iant288 (10/5): Hidden Gem! - Great Value
Came up to Katoomba for a Blue Mountains Experience. Went to Scenic World and thoroughly enjoyed that experience but was not impressed with their food offer or the value offered so came back to Katoomba for lunch. Hidden gem was Katoomba Family Hotel where not only good value for money but tremendous service and great food. Well done!
- Johnnie1948 (4/5): If you don’t smoke. Don’t go. - We visited the Family Hotel, 15 Parke St, Katoomba, for Friday lunch (we did not stay overnight, so this review is only about the dining experience). The open-air courtyard in the middle of the building was being used as a smoking area. Two people lit up at the next table, less than two metres from us, while meals were being served. The venue was about half full, with plenty of diners, but no “designated smoking” or “no food” signs were visible.
Under the Smoke Free Environment Act 2000, smoking is not permitted within four metres of where food is consumed, so this did not appear legal. It made for an unpleasant lunch, though the food was good, staff were lovely, and weekday prices were low. We ate quickly and left.
- Brian (10/5): Comfy rooms in a great location. Staff go out of their way to make the stay enjoyable. - Friendly staff and modern facilities Nothing
- Peter (8/5): Comfy and convenient - Quiet but close to the train station. Tiny bathroom
- Davis (7/5): -
- Tabatha (10/5): - Room was lovely and spotless, will stay there again. Nothing
- carolyn (10/5): -
- John (8/5): Love staying - The hotel was magnificent, convenient walk to everything. The only downside is fridge makes loud noises at night , also hard to find parking spaces
- S6125CDwendyp (4/5): Management uncaring and unfair - I booked directly with Katoomba family hotel. They charged me $407.00 for 2 nights. When I reviewed the room I thought I was paying for the room I got was substandard no wardrobe to hang your clothes, no room service nothing was replenished and bed was not made up for next day. Also no breakfast for this cost. Online the same room was $175 per night but management would not honour this. The bar and restaurant staff were attentive and especially Bradley Milne who makes the family hotel an extremely excellent place to visit, due to his kind caring friendly nature.
I would not recommend staying at this hotel for accommodation but I would recommend it for a place to have a meal .
- Lauren (8/5): Very good -
- charmainew228 (10/5): A great place to stay - All the staff are so friendly & helpful. Our meals were delicious & we enjoyed joining in with the locals on trivia night. We were three couples catching up & everyone commented on the great atmosphere. We stayed for two nights & the accommodation was excellent as well. I had left a pair of earrings behind & a kind staff member contacted me, to obtain a return address. How good is that! We've all met before at the Katoomba Family Hotel & we will catch up there again. Highly recommended.
- Richard (8/5): Very good -
- Josie (7/5): Good budget accommodation - Friendly staff, cheap meals, central location and warm. Window facing bistro court yard was noisy
- debradP3258GJ (8/5): Great place to dine in Katoomba - The meals were great, fast friendly service, staff were welcoming and interacted with the whole table. The staff gave great insight to the local sites and tours available. Prices were reasonable, dining areas clean and tidy, would comeback here on future visits.
- Trieu (10/5): Exceptional -
- Olena (6/5): We still enjoyed our stay🥰 - Great location, very friendly staff, good food Very small room for 3 people
- Krystal (5/5): Passable -
- Ubesiri (7/5): Good -
- Kylie (8/5): Would recommend - Was excellent
- Ross (7/5): Good - Noise
- Kenneth (9/5): Superb -
- Mary-anne (7/5): Great short stay for a friends 50th - the room was great but had a poor sleep - Ease of getting to the hotel and the friendly staff The bedroom had a ‘droning’ sound which we believe was the refridgerator/ AC equipment that kept turning on / off during the night - made for a very restless sleep
- DorothyD543 (10/5): Come visit - Wonderful $15 lunch special of flathead fillets and bar staff were so friendly with great senses of humour. Wine wasn't bad either. Going back tomorrow for my 77th birthday lunch of slow cooked Osso bucco, licking my lips in anticipation. Hotel is just a short walk from the train station so very easy to get to. Will even think of coming back for a day trip. Interior decor is so warm and welcoming and toilets are wonderfully clean
- Willy (7/5): Ok - Close to station Music till eleven. No towel change. Bathroom too small. No hairdryer. No tissues
- Tracey (8/5): Very good -
- Jeffery (9/5): Day 1 on Australia Moto trip - So Day 1 on our 12 day ride we stayed in Katoomba. I had dinner here 6 years ago and remembered it was a cool old PUB. So I booked rooms here for the group. They have been remodeling the property for some time now. It looks great. Rooms were brand new and pub look good. Parkinf was limted but that will change when remodel is done.
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Narelle (7/5): Good -
- Maureen (7/5): Well placed, friendly hotel but could improve comfort by adding/fixing fixtures in bathroom and poor shower. - It was clean, close to the station and shops/restaurants/cafes. Staff were very friendly. Beds were comfortable. Food and drink would have been available if we needed. The rooms aren’t serviced unless you ask which we hadn’t been told. So we had soggy wet towels and bath mats. We did ask for fresh towels but only received two bath towels and a plastic bag for the wet ones. The bathroom is tiny, the shower pressure and hot water not so good. There were not enough places to put things and no hand towel rail. Fixture in shower recess was unstable.
- Anne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peter (10/5): Great place to stay good location close to the station the staff are very helpful and friendly the room I had has recent - Very friendly staff good food and beer
- Cheryl (8/5): Very good - Location was excellent
Friendly staff
Large meals No lift in the hotel, room was up 4 flights of stairs
- Ken (10/5): - The car park needs upgrading.
- Aline (8/5): Very good -
- Gypsy (9/5): Superb -
- Julie (10/5): - Trivia night was fun, friendly and helpful staff. Great location
- Ann (9/5): The staff couldn’t have been better food excellent rooms comfortable - Staff excellent Stairs hard to take 4 suitcases up hard on legs.
No hot water 1st night moved into another apartment &
Aircon not working 2 nd night
- Nicholas (8/5): Very good -
- Jane (7/5): Good -
- Janelle (10/5): Comfy beds - Great location, close to everything.
Comfortable beds, bit squashed with 3 in the room but made it work
- Jnan (5/5): Passable - The location basin was too small and barely usable with zero wiggle room.
- Kok (9/5): Superb - It is within 3 mins walking distance to Katoomba train station (BMT Line). The public bus no. 686 is opposite the hotel entrance, providing easy access to Echo Lookout point and Scenic World without the need of car hire. There're lots of restaurants nearby within walking distance at Katoomba Street. The Coles supermarket is about 10 mins walk. Coin laundry-matic services are 20 mins walk near Aldi, Katoomba St (after Waratah St). There's a "drop key" box available for express checkout.
- Bikram (8/5): Very good -
- Eric (10/5): all good - was able to check in early, lady was very helpful. we were allowed to leave luggage safely locked away for the daywe departed.
shower cubicle was on the small side in room 1.
- Irene (4/5): Disappointing - The bus stop to all the attractions is just over the road. No-one was particularly interested in serving us in the restaurant. Parking is very bad in fact nearly impossible. We managed to park at the bottom of a steep hill which meant carrying luggage up the hill, through the bottle shop and up 2 flights of stairs.
- Shell_C352140 (6/5): Rude wait staff marred the evening - We booked online & had confirmation of our booking from the manager. Arrived with our friends & a very rude waiter smirked & said ‘I don’t take online bookings, you’re not on the list’. Even when we tried to show him the email he dismissed it. There was a table free but his continued rudeness & unfriendly manner marred our experience. Only wish I had gotten his name.
Food ok.
- Vijay (4/5): Never go back there - Nothing Room
- Mcsweeney (10/5): Great - It was great I would recommend this hotel it is close to great attractions and the main Street of

- Adam (8/5): Very good -
- Pam (8/5): Very good - No elevator
- Nicolas (6/5): - The hotel is very convenient to the taxi rank and to the station if you're travelling by train.
It is a pub and all the rooms are upstairs so all the noise carries (think live music, trivia nights).
- Martin (8/5): Very good -
- Gautam (8/5): Very good -
- Kazi (7/5): A Good Family Retreat - Service and staff support.
They are very friend. Not that internet friendly.
- Sue (10/5): - We loved everything about Hotel Katoomba.
The staff were great , food was Fabulous and the location was perfect for us.
Loved all the unique shops and the dining in the area.
We will only book Hotel Katoomba for our next vidit
- George (4/5): - Our room has a window that faces the outdoor patio outside the bar area. Someone forgot to turn the music off in the patio area off the bar ant closing time and it was playing very loudly all night long right into our room. We got absolutely no sleep whatsoever. What could have been a very nice stay ended up being an extremely horrible experience for us. We called the hotel the next morning to see what they could do for us as far as compensation. But no one ever got back to us.
- Fran (8/5): Very good experience - Rooms were clean , on the small side but ok . It was cold out side the pub and room beautiful and warm . Clean bathroom and bed linen. Great location close to transport restaurant and shops There could be better window coverings
- Phillip (7/5): Great - Nice and Clean as the rooms haven't long been refurbished.
Great location , walking distance to all that the town of Katoomba has to offer. Nothing Really
- Heifetz (7/5): I slept great and the bathroom was good and it was nice. - It was fine. No fresh air, windows didn’t open
- The (8/5): A warm, comfortable overnight stay. I'll be back! - I've stayed here before and was very impressed. The accommodation is everything you'd want, clean, very comfortable, warm. Cool blinds mean you can let in as much or as little light as you like. I made use of the fridge and kettle, took the biscuits for the trip home. Had drinks in the bar, the staff were all lovely. Nothing! The only thing that was tricky was the bathroom/shower being a little bit cramped, and the water pressure wasn't great. But honestly, it was warm, and did the job.
- Dianne (7/5): Very nice, clean, reasonably priced, friendly staff, pub great. -
- Lawrence (10/5): Place was very friendly. And what ever I I asked they gave quickly - Easy access for dinner and beer Central to everything

- O (6/5): Pleasant -
- Sin (6/5): There are better nearby hotels to choose from. - It is close to town Access back door wasn’t locked at all which allows non hotel guests to gain access to the hotel rooms at the upper level of the building. Hotel photos on the website don’t really give an accurate representation of the actual conditions.
- Joanne (8/5): Enjoyable overnight stay - Location great, value for money, restaurant on premises, warm & cosy
