It took me 5 phone calls to book the rooms and then I never received the booking confirmation by email despite following up numerous times. After arriving my friends had to wait 3 days for the housekeeping to make the extra bed in the suite for their child to sleep on. The staff was not at all helpful. I would definitely never stay here again.

Alexander (2/5): Catastrophe - Honestly speaking we are shocked by what we had to experience during our stay. We have payed a lot of money looking forward to a pleasant weekend in the hotel with our little daughter. But already on arrival we came into a room which wasn’t cleaned properly and was prepared poorly. We spoke to the personnel at the reception and were informed that there is no manager on duty and that the hotel is being sold with a lot of problems that are carried out on the back of the guests. The breakfast was a catastrophe on all mornings. There was not enough personnel to even do the most necessary things like filling up the milk bottles or putting spoons on the buffet and refilling the coffee machine. The worst thing about this is that it happened independently of the number of guests present. On the second day we came back to our room only to find out that it wasn’t cleaned. In a hotel we expect our room to be cleaned though especially when you travel with a small child and we have experienced that in a lot of hotels before. Back at the reception we got the information that this is NORMAL (?!). In your hotel the rooms only get cleaned at departure. Not only did we get no information on that before but also this is not acceptable for us. We pay money in a hotel to experience great service and enjoy a worry-free stay. We don’t pay money for what we have had to experience at this hotel. Please come back to us with a response and also some suggestion for a compensation.

Rob (6/5): - The switches are sophisticated but not all of them work. The bathroom is nice design but it would be practical if there is something to hang your towel and cloth. A choice out of 2 types of pillows (a bit softer and firm)would give more sleeping comport.
Verified traveler (6/5): décevant - Les premières personnes qui nous ont accueillis parlaient uniquement l'anglais, ce n'était donc pas facile pour se faire comprendre. Elles allaient nous faire payer une deuxième fois l'hôtel. Heureusement, par la suite, nous avons eu une personne parlant le français. La 1ère chambre proposée nous semblait convenable jusqu'à ce qu'on entende des gouttes d'eau tomber au sol (fuites de la clim). Au départ, le responsable nous a dit que cela était juste un trop plein d'eau et que ce n'était pas grave. Mais, impossible de dormir avec un bruit constant de gouttes qui tombent au sol. De plus, une des prises du lit sortait du mur et une grosse trace de bisou au rouge à lèvre se voyait sur la vitre. Après un deuxième relevé à l'accueil, on nous a gentiment proposé une autre chambre en nous soulignant qu'il s'agissait d'une plus haute gamme car balcon et sans devoir ajouter de supplément... Mais, bien que spacieuse et jolie, la chambre n'était pas au top. Le rideau pendait, les vitres du balcon étaient sales (déjections d'oiseaux) et nous avons, à nouveau, retrouvé des traces d'eau et gouttes sur le plafond, juste au-dessus du lit, tout le long du système de la clim. De plus, cette fameuse clim fait un bruit sourd continu... Pas une nuit de tout repos comme nous l'espérions. Et, cela est bien dommage car l'architecture de cet hôtel est de toute beauté et le bâtiment est situé en plein centre. L'hôtel pourrait atteindre un 10/10 si tout cela était en ordre.
Marc (6/5): - Het hotel is prima voor wat een hotel bedoeld is, en dat is slapen. Daar integen de bedden zijn niets. Twee éénpersoons tegen elkaar met daarop een topper niet te klein is en alle kanten op gaat. Ook schuiven de bedden snel uit elkaar. Een airco zou ook niet misstaan. Op de kamer gaan alle lichten en gordijnen via een miniscuul bedieningspaneeltje die erg onduidelijk is. Je hebt licht nodig om dat te bedienen. Maarja, als het donker is blijft het gissen welke van de knopjes wat is. Al met al, qua ligging zeker super en qua doel slapen, voldoende. Maar praktisch is anders.

Richard (10/5): The perfect place for a luxury stay in Leuven - I had previously spent 3 days in a cramped not very elegant hotel in Milano. To come to Hotel the Fourth was like dying and going to heaven. The room was so spacious and well designed. Great bathroom, sitting balcony to look over the courtyard. Large bed, nice desk and great coffee maker. It is in walking distance of the train station. I will never stay anywhere else when I come to Leuven.

Luanne (10/5): - Even though it’s hard to get to because it’s in a no car area, the hotel is beautiful and stylish. It’s next to the ornate city hall and many cafes and shops. We had to park our rental car in a parking garage about five minutes walk away. Price was reasonable for such a nice hotel.

Francisco (6/5): - De locatie is geweldig. Een kamer met uitzicht op de kerk en het stadhuis is uniek en echt een aanrader! We waren enkel teleurgesteld over de staat van de kamer; de toiletbril was gebroken, de draaiknop van de douche miste een drukknop, de domotica was verwarrend (als je op gordijn sluiten drukte dan ging deze open en omgekeerd), maar 1 hoofdkussen per persoon,... De kamer was zoals het gebouw mooi maar de afwerking miste de allure die het hotel als geheel probeert uit te stralen. Spijtig.

Raymond (8/5): - Fijne plek om een nacht te slapen. Op loopafstand van een grote ondergrondse parkeergarage. Jura koffiezetapparaat op de kamer. Fijn bed, fijn beddengoed. Wifi prima. Douche in de ochtend matig van kracht, dat zou beter kunnen. Ontbijt is redelijk beperkt, maar nog steeds goed. Scrambled eggs en bacon erg oud tijdens mijn bezoek, maar dat kan een incident zijn. Heb inmiddels 3 x gevraagd om een factuur, nog steeds niet gekregen, daarom de lagere beoordeling van medewerkers. Overall een fijne plek om te overnachten in het midden van Leuven.
Preeth (8/5): - Lovely hotel, with a great period facade and a modern interior! Reception staff were helpful, breakfast options were adequate, and the city center location next to the city hall and main church can't be beat! The hotel is about 10-12 minutes safe walking distance from the main Leuven station. Taxi's are available, no private cars are allowed. Rooms are well appointed, with coffee/tea and water. Bathroom was functional. Lighting switches are extremely modern and a little hard to operate at night. The bed was comfortable. There are a vast number of dining options all around, from fast food (including Burger King, KFC & McDonalds) to fine dining (ate two meals at Het Moorinneken, excellent!) and international options within 1 to 3 minutes walk. Prices were great. Highly recommended over the standard chains near the station!
rik (6/5): very central,but average quality - Efficient receptionists, friendly.The room had a fancy lighting system, with all sorts of tiny black buttons on a black background...visible only with lights on. The heating did not work so I had to go to reception when we wanted it more or less warm. Toilet ameneties etc were scarce, and not replaced when used.one night I returned at 03h and the door was wide open, nobody at the desk (I mentioned this the next day). Carpets in the hall a bit rundown.WIFi was touch and go. Room was spacious, but no door for the toilet so was difficult when a friend visited us.Coat rack would have been helpful.What really was excellent was the coffee machine!(But with wooden sticks however...).

Instructieblaadje mbt domotica zou wel handig geweest zijn, evenals een deur naar het toch wel kleine badkamertje want geen apart toilet. En geen tissues in een luxehotel, vreemd… Spijtig ook dat de eerdere wellness niet meer heropend wordt. Prachtige diner- en ontbijtzaal (maar nogal frisse temp), uitstekend ontbijt, maar onverwacht geen suggestiemenu diner beschikbaar en a la carte menu zeer beperkt. Ondanks enkele verbeterpuntjes zeker een aanrader.

Gayle (6/5): Nice but a little disappointing. - We stayed for one night in the hotel. On arrival, around 4pm, there was no one on reception but a note with a phone number asking to call..... We called twice but the number was busy! Street about 20 minutes someone appeared and looked very surprised to see us! He checked us in but didn't offer any other information....bar opening times etc. The room was very nice and the bed very comfy. We looked out over the Grote Markt and sound proofing was fine. We would have preferred a door to the bathroom. There was a pretty fancy coffee machine in the room but if you're under 160cm task forget it. You won't be able to see the control panel! After going out for the evening we returned and found the cold water tap was not working. As there was no phone in the room it seemed too much hassle to report it. They do leave bottled water in the room but we were still thirsty in the morning. To be fair, when we mentioned it at check out we received a free drink in the bar. We choose water! Overall, it's a beautiful building but it's a very expensive hotel and the finishing touches are not there.

Camilo German (8/5): Lovely place at the heart of Leuven! - The hotel was perfectly located next to all the historical buildings in Leuven and the Grote Market. The hotel itself is a historical building and the facilities were modern and clean. The queen bed was a little small and we had a small window with no curtains so the outside lights was a little annoying. But overall lovely stay at this place
Ichiro (2/5): - 4泊の予定でしたが、2泊目で急に「オーバーブッキングになったので、他のホテルへ移動してください。ホテルはとりあえずこちらで手配しました。ちょっと安いですがしかし差額は払い戻せません」と言う。ではここより高いところをとってください、というと「高いところはダメです。気に食わないなら返金すれば約款上いいことになっていますので、とにかく明日出て行ってください」との事。通知の仕方も手紙などのメッセージではなく、部屋の鍵を無効化する事でフロントに客に戻って来させる、という失礼さ！担当者は客に文句言われるのが嫌なので「後ほど担当者から連絡します」と言ったっきり、担当者？からは連絡なし。しかたないので、とにかく二日分未泊の部分を返金してください。と言うと「ホテルズコムから申し込んだ方は、ホテルズコムを通して返金しますので手続きお願いします」と言うので帰国後ホテルズコムから手続きすると、自分で代わりのホテルを予約し直したにもかかわらず「代わりのホテルはこちらで手配しましたので、返金できません」との事。マネジメントも管理も礼儀もめちゃくちゃなホテルでした。こういうトラブル対応でホテルの実力がさらけ出されます。一等地に立地するからといって、傲慢な経営をしているとお客は離れていきます。
Verified traveler (8/5): - Hotel is beautiful, anyone can see that in the pictures. I had a terrace room, which was fine. The room is small and modern. The two highlights were the bed, very comfortable, and the huge terrace! Staff was ok. Upon arriving, I was asked to pay for my room....which I already had. Not a good look in a nice hotel. Then without asking was handed a map of the city. I’ve been to Leuven multiple times, next time ask. No one likes being treated like a tourist. Overall it was pleasant and I’d consider, but not go out of my way, to stay again.

Long story short, it took me from 2 am to 3:30 am to get to bed and finally get some shut eye until the bright daylight woke me up at about 6:30 am and gave me a bad headache. This was my first night experience in this supposedly fancy hotel which costed me $160 a night off-season. I got only 3 hours of sleep and a bad headache. The next day I talked to some of the other guests at the hotel and they also had problems with the AC. In my opinion a hotel that doesn’t have a working AC should not be allowed to operate; period. This first night struggle not only ruined the hotel experience for me, but also ruined my Belgium experience.

The service was a little cold, and we were turned away when we tried to check in an hour early after an overnight flight, even though the next day we overhead others being checked in before 3 p.m. But the space was lovely and the room very comfortable. Lighting was all above which NEVER works No lamps and ambient lighting which would have made the room much more pleasant. All overhead spots. Modern design gone afoul. Overall good value and would stay there again

Chris (10/5): - An excellent hotel in the centre of Leuven. The hotel has good security key card controlled, the room is very clean and has a clean and comfortable bed, lovely bathroom and electric curtails. Seriously there is a lot of thought and investment in the decorations and facilities available.
Adam (4/5): Poor bar - Stayed here for a working week on business. The bar was officially open all week, because the barman had holiday to take. When I complained, the manager said he would make an exception and give me and my colleagues a drink! (How nice of him). One morning my towels were not replaced and drinks in my room were not replenished. For €250 per night this is terrible. To be told by reception if I want a drink I had to go out to a local bar is ridiculous. It’s a shame, because the hotel rooms and breakfast is fantastic. Unfortunately I won’t be staying here again. Leuven has many hotels and as nice as this one is, others have far better service.

Rafael (8/5): - Nice hotel in a beautiful building in Leuven’s Oude Markt. Very helpful staff and nicely decorated room.
Brit (6/5): - Mixed experience. Nice, old building in a great location. Rooms disappointingly spare and fairly uncomfortable, especially because of bathroom design: shower without shower door resulting in a slippery and dangerous bathroom floor, nowhere to hang up your towel when in the shower, sewage odors in the bathroom. Wifi falls in and out. Breakfast fine and varied.
A (4/5): Room design flaw that is a deal breaker - Fantastic location right in the centre for shopping and restaurants and cafes. Unfortunately the hotel room has a large glass door. Not much privacy. I asked if all the rooms had a glass door and was told ,- not all, some have no door at all. So for those of you who are bothered by this ( we certainly were) please be aware.

Verified traveler (6/5): Noisey - Outside noise kept me up ALL night and early morning a cleaner in the hotel dragged a what sounded like a bucket down a flight of stairs!
Verified traveler (6/5): - Great location, great styling. However, some things weren't quite done. The gym wasn't yet complete, which is one of the main reasons I booked it - they should have made it clear that this wasn't available or provided a discount. Also, the lighting buttons didn't work consistently, the heat wasn't working consistently, and the door knobs feel off during the week. If they are able to fix / complete the physical issues, this will be a fantastic hotel.

Jay (6/5): Could be great, but not ready for prime-time - Really liked the look and feel of this hotel; the aesthetic was great -- super modern, lots of technology in the rooms, and made use of old historic elements to their advantage. The name "The Fourth" comes from the fact that this is the fourth owner of this building, so lots of historic charm. Unfortunately, to mimic other reviews, they are not really fully open yet (yet their rates would indicate otherwise.) For one, there are basics missing from the rooms -- no phone, no minibar, the heat in my room didn't work. The hotel also had zero solution for parking other than directing me to the closest public parking garage. Even further, and perhaps most annoying, the hotel is still under construction -- the fitness center wasn't open (despite advertising one as available), you could hear construction noise at the early hours of the morning, and people came knocking on my door at 8:30a despite having a "do not disturb" tag on it. Before booking this hotel, I'd give them a few more months to work out the kinks...I'm surprised two months into opening, they are still missing some essential basics.
