• Richard (3/5): This was the most expensive hotel of the 14 we stayed in on this trip and does not provide the facilities to match, it’s - The raised platform walk across the lagoon in the early morning Outdoor restaurant dining surrounded by wetlands under spotlights meant being plagued by insects throughout dinner, the staff tried altering lighting with table lamps but everyone was complaining which is maybe why all the staff looked so miserable. We clothed suitably but bitten on our hands whilst dining is not great, mosquitoes in room and no plug in repellant Also being insisted upon to order breakfast at end of evening meal, what is that all about, don’t you do fresh eggs and pancakes are they made the night before?
• howland (5/5): Palmyrah House Jan 26 - The wildlife was very good. The suite was large and spacious and the staff were pleasant The place is in a state of disrepair. It cannot be blamed on the recent cyclone as historical pictures show the same state of disrepair. The 1st impression is that this hotel is run down and unloved. The food is unimaginative, especially breakfast and every meal is served with cheap white sliced bread. The hotel lacks someone with high end hotel management experience. The staff are helpful and friendly but unfortunately that isn't enough to market yourself as a prestige hotel.
• Miriam Zukas (10/5): Wonderful birdwatching paradise in top class comfort - The Palmyrah was just fabulous. We loved everything about it including the egret who came and fished in the pond while we had breakfast. The layout was gorgeous, our room beautiful and enormous, the gardens lush and well-kept and the food was excellent. Best of all were the staff who were so warm, polite and welcomng.

Das Personal war freundlich, aufmerksam und professionell, der Service insgesamt sehr gut. Sauberkeit und Frühstück haben ebenfalls überzeugt. Die Anlage ist weitläufig und bietet viel Ruhe und Privatsphäre. Die Anlage weist einen gewissen Renovierungsrückstand bei den gemeinschaftlich genutzten Facilities auf, insbesondere im Gym, in der Bibliothek, auf den Wegen und teilweise auch beim Pool. In Anbetracht dessen ist der Preis für die Suite etwas hoch.

Vraiment défraîchit. Piscine abîmée et pas super bien entretenue. Certains serveurs très gentils mais un pas sympa et pas souriant.

Pool, which is clearly not maintained properly, was closed when we arrived and was only “open” by mid next morning, with a very strong chlorine smell… Pool house/bar was not open… Breakfast was “sad” in options and taste… Menu for dinner was so limited, and disappointing that we looked for other options, outside… Very limited concern by staff to recommend activities (bird watching)…

• Anonymous (8/5): Overall it was a pleasant stay will definitely go again. - We stayed two nights on the way to Jaffna late December. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. The food was from a set menu but so tasty. The location was about 20minutes from the Mannar town. Excellent for bird watching. There was plenty of birds in the property and around the hotel. -The pool was closed due to heavy rains. -The property needed some maintenance and cleaning up (Possibly because of heavy rains) -Hotel could have organised bird watching tours for the tourists. -not many attractions around the resort

• Wdd2019 (1/5): Awful- the place is a disaster with no AC, internet, hot water. - The staff is well trained and very friendly, although quite hapless. The restaurant is fine. Everything else is a mess. There was no electricity and no internet for most of my stay. I grew exasperated and left early. There was no hot water, no bicycle as advertised and the pool was closed because of flooding. This place is a disaster area and should be avoided.

• Floor (9/5): Very special place for birders - The staff was very helpfull and frendly. We loved the bathroom en terrace. The room was perfect. Palmyrah is a special place. We loved it. Even off season it is a good place for birding. Food is good. Maybe the entrance and restaurant can use some TLC with some candles, deco and water in de pound. It felt very off season when we arrived.
• Godin (6/5): comfortable BUT BAD PRICE TO QUALITY RATIO, totally overpriced, hot shower did not work properly. - Quiet place, balcony was lovely and quiet as in the picture, dinner was relaxing and romantic but overall the hotel is very expensive in comparison to anything else we paid in the country for lesser quality (no pression when hot water) price to quality VERY BAD. Hotel completely overpriced. Highest price tag of our entire stay, we did not get hot water and they did not seem to care to do something about it.

• Dan. (10/5): In my family's own words - the stay was a pleasant and memorable one! - I booked a weekend stay for my family here to celebrate my parent's birthday and they loved it! From booking to check-in / check-out, everything went smoothly. The staff onsite (and the support team over the phone) were extremely helpful and they did everything they can to make the stay a memorable one for my family.
