Guest Reviews
- Gregory Roy (7/5): Enjoyable for the pricing - Ambience Nothing specific
- Curly779 (8/5): Decent room and lovely pub - The food at the pub was delicious and staff very friendly. The room was clean and had tea and coffee making facilities and a mini fridge. There was a TV and WiFi in the room. It was hard to get the temperature of the room right. The heating is all through the air conditioning system so it was a little noisy and got too hot when on but equally freezing cold without. The bed was a standard double which was too small for us as we are used to sleeping in a king size bed.

- Kiershen (8/5): Decent room and great value for money - Great location. Decent room with good bathroom and everything clean.
Good value for money. Mattress uncomfortable and pillows old.
- Jacqueline (8/5): - Remote location, nice size room. Mattress uncomfortable, could feel the springs.
No hairdryer.
- Mary (10/5): Comfy weekend getaway - Easy access, large room with mini fridge and aircon. Very clean and comfortable. Breakfast very good. We were staying as part of a large group and were really well looked after. Car park was full
- Jeff (10/5): Lovely place to stay in quiet village. - Beautiful setting in a little village. Angie and Ellie who i dealt with were very helpful and friendly.
- Domenica (9/5): Clean and comfy - Clean comfy lovely staff
- Alexandre (8/5): - Les voisins de chambre ont mis la musique très haute une bonne partie de la nuit? Et il n'y aaucune possibilité de joindre le manager une fois qu ele PUB est fermé. isolation thermique et sonique

- John (4/5): Very disappointing with a distinct lack of customer service - Breakfast was very good and freshly cooked. Check in was ok and room initially appeared well. Cleanliness of room was questionable with lots of high level cobwebs. Not long after making the room darker with just a lamp in the corner it became evident that the room was suffering from a ladybird infestation. We disposed of numerous but more kept appearing in the light. We reported back to the supervisor and discreetly informed her. She agreed to move us to an alternative room and she confirmed that she would arrange a refund of our 2nd night payment the following morning. We were not happy to stay a further night as now questioned cleanliness. Reported to bar for breakfast at 8.30 as booked, and waited approximately 15 minutes for a staff member to appear, and yes, we did ring the bell. This staff member contacted the supervisor from night before who later confirmed that the owners had not permitted the refund for the 2nd night stay. This was extremely disappointing, we visit family members in Harlow on a regular basis and would not now choose to re-book anytime in the future - and we had to pay for breakfast. We are not serial complainers but after a restless nights sleep, scratching a lot, and moving rooms at almost midnight, it would have gone a long way for some sort of compensation to be issued.
- Jonathan (10/5): Fox Inn 10 0ut of 10 - Everything good at the fox Inn
a great place, too. Stay
Nice rooms with comfy beds . Nice bar. Great chief. Very friendly staff. This was our 2nd stay and will be back when in the area. No issues with the fox Inn
- stephen (10/5): Friendly excellent pub with a nice feel - Very good gastro pub. Nice room. Good food Shower was challenging
- David (10/5): - The staff were very nice and friendly, the food was superb and great value.. very nice cosy pub and restaurant. The accommodation was clean and spacious and a comfortable Unfortunately a lot of roads were flooded on the way there locally but that isn't something that they have control over
- Rory (10/5): - Very friendly staff
- Chloe (5/5): Lovely staff, great location, beds would benefit from upgrade - Very friendly staff, convenient location for our stay, room was a good size. Mattress was uncomfortable, duvet and pillows need replacing, kettle needs descaling, once the couple in the adjoining room (there was a locked door between) came to bed we could hear them loud and clear, as if they were in the room with us.
- Colin (10/5): Well worth the money, nice ambience, very clean, wheelchair friendly. - Rooms are charming chalet style set in a very attractive square with tables and chairs set out. Food very nice and lovely staff. It was difficult to find as there are lots of narrow country lanes so a car is essential. Great staff but was a bit bemused at being charged £4 for two packets of crisps at the bar.
- Louise (8/5): Good value for money - Warm welcome from staff, room was clean and comfortable
- Anne (8/5): Very good all round - Meals very good and respectable prices
- kristina (1/5): The property itself and facilities were fine but when I went to check in- the place was locked up and they had obviously - The room was nice and comfortable
Good sized bathroom Pub closed when I arrived at 9.30/ 9.45 pm even though I was told they were open late and would give me the key and show me around
Pub in darkness- kept banging on doors/ windows- eventually someone told me to go round the back and I was let in !!
They had obviously forgotten I was staying and in their cars ready to go home! I was not in a nice situation!!!

- Wendy (7/5): Very nice inn, very clean. Helpful staff. Glamorous landlady. Food was very good. - Lovely village setting, very clean inn. Restaurant was busy and good quality food. Better than average selection of wines. The heater in the room could have been put on to warm our room up for us, that would have been nice. We had some trouble getting the heater set, took about an hour thanks to Chat GPT. Would have been a nice touch for some Xmas lights in central court yard around the Olive Tree. But otherwise great
- James (10/5): -

- Paul (9/5): - Food was excellent Nothing
- Anthony (10/5): Friendly staff, good food and lovely place to stay. -
- Robert (10/5): - A lovely location the staff were very friendly and helpful
- Helen (5/5): - Heating was not effective - took a long time to warm the room, especially when we came back in after a night out. Was noisy so couldn’t really have it on overnight and then again it was cold when we woke.
Decoration needed some attention. Paint chipped and worn away around the bath, due to the shower leaking. Front door had brown filler around the lock area. Small details that make a difference visually.
Hand towels were damp when we arrived.
- Angela (5/5): Convenience day for a family event. Lack of breath on a Monday morning was very disappointing. - Location. The generous sized room set in courtyard setting .
The lady in the bar later in the day was very welcoming and chatty. Arrived to a puzzled staff with cross line communication over an early check-in it caused some confusion. 20 minutes later got a room. This has got to be the worst hotel bed l have ever slept in. All support in mattress is shot.
- elaine (10/5): Staff lovely, room spotless, food excellent, perfect location. -
- Gabrielle (8/5): -
- V (7/5): -
- Shanee (8/5): A nice rural getaway - Very nice rooms and courtyard.

- Lorna (8/5): -
- Kelsey (9/5): Fabulous Little Stay in a Fabulous Little Spot - The rooms were very clean and nicely moderately decorated with all the right stuff you need. Liked that it was separate to the hotel just for ease really. We felt really welcome and although we only stayed for one night, plus it was a fleeting stay we certainly felt like it was a great choice and I took photos to show my mum! Nothing really, we didnt have any issues at all. Breakfast was maybe a tad more expensive than anticipated, but it was lovely!
- Ashley (8/5): -
- Richard (9/5): Comfortable convenient and we will go back - Convenient The staff food and service were very good
- Jacqueline (10/5): -
- . (8/5): -
- Simon (9/5): Great pub accommodation in a quiet village - Smashing accommodation and friendly staff.
Clean and spacious room.
The staff let us park our motorcycles in the courtyard out of view which was a bonus.
Set in a small and quiet village, so don't expect nightlife other than the venue, but that is what we both wanted and expected.
Good food at the pub also. Nothing to dislike.
- kenneth (9/5): - Very comfortable clean and quite No breakfast available in the week
- Shannon (10/5): -

- Ashley (8/5): - We used the Fox Inn due to attending a family wedding nearby. Friendly and welcoming host and staff. Accommodation great for family meet up and slightly set back from the pub with a nice courtyard. Rooms were clean well stocked with tea bags. Pub food was very good as was the breakfast.
- Karl (10/5): A lovely country inn - This was a great find for us , stopped for the night to break up the journey home .
Room was spotless , food was great , staff were super friendly.
We will be back when in the area next
- Robert (8/5): Very good self contained apartments away from any noise from the pub - Friendly staff and excellent restaurant for evening meal
Would stay against n go f in the area Breakfast was not available on one day as staff did not arrive
- David (9/5): Superb -
- Joseph (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vered (9/5): Great and comfortable room. - Simple and comfortable accommodation, with good shower. Overall clean place. Remote location we didn’t have a car and had to pay expensive taxis to get anywhere.
- Christopher (9/5): Great place to stay and eat - Welcoming landlord and staff, great food, clean room with air-conditioning. Nothing
- Shirley (3/5): Not good.when we had lunch we were asked to settle our total bill and we still had 2 nd night to stay - The set up was good Lack of communication with staff.
Cleary stated breakfast was served from 8.30 to 11 am. When we tried to get into premises for breakfast everything was closed. I phoned number given for contact and was told no breakfast available . We couldn’t get breakfast both mornings .
We did go for lunch and as I was gluten free was told she would speak to chef. When I said I just wanted small lunch and sandwich or toastie would be good , I was told sorry no gluten free bread. I then said beetroot salad , which was on menu , and I got lettuce with six small pieces of beetroot at a cost of £8 .
- Ian (9/5): Superb -
- Jennifer (7/5): Our stay was good, welcoming hosts. - Setting Air conditioner Nothing; it’s not luxurious - not easy for older folk to climb into the bath to shower, but it’s perfectly fine
- Philip (8/5): Very good -
- Janet (9/5): Better average pub stay. - Fox Inn is in a pretty village about 10 minutes drive from Harlow. The rooms are in a separate block from the pub. So it was very quiet. It was a good size room with an air con unit which was a bonus as we stayed during a heatwave. Good amenity tray provided. We ate in the pub our first night we had a very nice meal. Th staff were very pleasant both in the pub and housekeeping. Would consider using if back in the area. Nothing
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alex (9/5): Really pretty location, nice and quiet. Rooms are really clean and spacious, with great furnishings. - Lovely location, beautifully presented. Rooms are spacious, clean and have aircon. Bed was really comfy and you actually get a fridge! Shower is nice and powerful. I suppose my only gripe is the telly is a bit small, but i'm really nit picking if that is all i can come up with!
- Christopher (9/5): Superb -
- Karen (8/5): Very good -
- Rachael (8/5): Very good - Location was good for us.
Staff welcoming and helpful but didnt eat there as arrived too late for food. Room very clean but a little dated. Needed another mirror with a plug socket next to it.
Shower wasn't great.
- Tim (8/5): Very good -
- Judith (5/5): Disappointing - Very little except food in evening was ok We had to ask about evening meal times
Staff dizzy and not trained at reception then spent more time chatting to pub goers when wanted to pay bill.
No handrail in bathroom so difficult toget into shower
Door extremely difficult to take key from lock
No one at reception when leaving at 9 am so could not tell about keys
Rm 3 toilet didn’t flush
No decent chair to sit on in room
No wi fi password on show
Rm 3 phoned reception to ask re password but although got v bad reception
Rm 6 no reception
TV not well placed
Mattress in rm 6 very lumpy
Bedside light inadequate
Car park surface quite dangerous
- Phillips (10/5): Exceptional -
- Greg (8/5): Very good -
- Raymond (3/5): Never again will I stay there. - It was not a proper Pub. You think after staying there for 10 days they would thank you but no contact.
- Phillips (10/5): Exceptional - Clean, spacious room. Friendly staff. Good quality food Telephone signal is poor
- Alison (10/5): Very comfortable stay and a very nice pub too - All of it but especially the air conditioning in the rooms which we had not expected Nothing
- Alison (10/5): Just as we had hoped - Everything - excellent choice Nothing
- Alison (10/5): Met all of our expectations and more - Everything- rooms were spotless, staff very friendly and helpful, went out of their way to help us. Amazing air conditioning and nice size room and bathroom. Small point but the bath is very slippery so need to be careful when getting into and out from the shower over bath. This didn't spoil our stay in any way.
- Angela (10/5): Really enjoyed our stay ..will be going back - Everything ..lovely well presented pub ..large garden, staff were very friendly, the rooms were lovely and clean , food was well presented and good choice
- Natalie (9/5): Superb -
- Watson (6/5): Pleasant -
- John (7/5): Comfortable and if in the area would stay again - Very clean and nicely executed furnishings Ideal for what we wanted but kind of in the middle of nowhere
- Alison (8/5): Good night sleep but no breakfast! - The bedrooms were built behind the pub. Very comfortable. Didn’t provide breakfast even though breakfast available on their blurb. When asked, were told not financially viable even though, quite a few rooms appeared occupied. Would I stay here again- probably not due to no breakfast.
- Stacey (10/5): Great - Everything Nothing
- Jason (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anderson (6/5): Pleasant -
- Trevor (10/5): Exceptional -
- James (9/5): Will certainly use again when in the area. - Lovely welcoming landlady and very accommodating staff, I was allowed to use the function area to watch a football match on my iPad as the bar was busy/noisy due to their weekly quiz night.
Also really good and reasonably priced bar food, with great Guinness! no complaints whatsoever
- Ian (6/5): Pleasant staff and clean and comfortable rooms. - Rooms were exceptionally clean, modern and comfortable in a courtyard setting. We were informed after our meal late at night that there was no breakfast, rather than when we checked in. Due to the isolated location and an early appointment the next day, we had to go without breakfast. An expensive stay, due to a double booking mistake that they seemed unable to rectify.
- Pinmill (9/5): Peters goodbye - Good food No breakfast
- Vital (10/5): Great place. Wonderful staff. Excellent food -
- Ivor (9/5): Nice staff good food clean comfortable room - Sadly the chef was not on for breakfast .But the evening meal was very good. The accommodation was very nice and clean The road to the village was very narrow. After a long trip (500mls) not what we needed
