- ndreca (4/5): - The area and the swimming pool, The bedroom door was unlocked, the carpet in the room was very dirty, the bed was very uncomfortable, the shower was very low and very steep from the upstairs room. You can hear people walking .
- Summers (10/5): -
- Richard (8/5): On balance, would recommend this hotel for its setting. - Location, views, food, spa, bedding, bathroom all excellent. The seafood linguine was outstanding! The corridors and rooms are small. Bottled water and biscuits supplied on first day only. Continental breakfast offerings limited. Wine by the glass was a good choice on the first night, the same choice the second evening was not good.
- Simone (10/5): Beautiful location - Beautiful view Food not too great but maybe I was there on a bad day and took too long to order any breakfast so just had the continental which was lovely
- Haytham (10/5): -
- Llorenc (8/5): The first comment I made when we got into our room was that I wanted to come again. - Views and location exceptional, facilities and food were really good.
Beds very comfortable and loved the swivel chairs in the room which we could enjoy the view from.
Showers were lovely and hot and toiletries smelt amazing
We were so surprised to learn there was a private beach but the steps coming up were definitely a workout!! Room temperature was too hot and although a fan was available this did not work.
We opened a window however there was a swarm of bees nesting.
Coffee in room would have been better if it was instant - our stay would have been a 10/10 if better quality.
- Phil (4/5): Disappointing - poor value for money. - Great view of the bay. Many things feel cheap and poorly completed - from poorly finished tiling, hook on the bedroom door falling off, bedroom windows not closing properly, paper thin walls separating rooms. Breakfast was very poor - the worst avocado toast imaginable. It’s definitely not a 4 star experience and expensive for what it is.

- Anne (8/5): - Beautiful setting, friendly staff, great food.

- Emma (9/5): - Amazing views, fabulous pool.
- Elizabeth (10/5): Absolutely idyllic and will be visiting again. - The staff- excellent
The views- exceptional
The food- very good Nothing at all.
- Scott (10/5): Didn’t want too leave - Location, staff, food, the views, the full time spent there was awesome, cannot fault this hotel at all N/A
- Sandra (9/5): Prachtig uitzicht in een heerlijk luxe . - Uitzicht en heerlijk bed Niets
- Gavin (10/5): - From the moment we turned up ,it was lovely the place and all the staff were brillant There was nothing we dident like
- a69edc47e90770af154f39fd5953cd74 (9/5): Excellent couple of days, giving the relaxing break that we both needed. - Superb view from room, restaurant and grounds Wouldn't say 'didn't like' - the title for this question - but menu could have been perhaps a little better
- 5859597468a073cb1ee25caa7fa6dc9c (10/5): - Wow. All of it. Ive traveled a lot, this is easily in my top 5 favourite hotels. The spa is number 1. Lovely staff, extremely good value for money, breath taking views, food was superb. Honestly was just a fantastic find and ill definitely be back. Quality of the room wasnt quite in keeping with the rest of the hotel, but certainly not a problem. Odd that there wasnt a mirror in our room. Im being picky, thats literally all.i could think of that wasnt absolutely perfect!
Strand wegen Steile kaum erreichbar.

- Paula (9/5): -
- James (9/5): Great location and views - Great location and helpful staff
Breakfast good
Lovely spa Only a couple of things..
Spa area is really nice, but let down as kids in the pool, noisy, so not really a relaxing setting . Would be great if there were a few adults only spa sessions.
Didn't like dogs in restaurant.
- paddywhack (5/5): Lovely hotel but a disappointing stay - My room was warm clean and comfortable all that you want.
For a good night's sleep
Stuff friendly and helpful. But unfortunately, my room was above the kitchens and could hear the extract fan very loudly in my room.
Receptionist was very friendly and apologetic. And was reassured that the fans would be off between 9.30 and 10 o'clock.
Which most of them was, but unfortunately, one was left on what was a loud.Whirly pitch sounds and kept me awake most of the night.
I booked dinner at the inside restaurant.
Where I ordered the briskit burger with a side of homemade onion rings. The brisket burger resembled more like pull pork and was barely hot, and The Onion rings was unedible as they were so hard. I was scared of breaking my teeth and no I don't have false. choppers
You had to book a time slot for the swimming pool.
The swimming pool itself is very lovely with lots of good facilities
But unfortunately, for the size of the swimming pool, too many people was letting it at the same time and could not swim without bumping into each other.
- Brian (8/5): -
- Cheryl (9/5): -
- Simon (6/5): Great location. - Fantastic view
Staff excellent Could hear music from the restaurant early in morning and at night due to the speakers being in restaurant ceiling.
The noise woke the wife !!
She was not happy as we came for a rest.
- Maria (8/5): Had the balcony room with sea view, good food, great staff. - Evening meal and breakfast as good as anywhere.
Service and staff very friendly and helpful.
- Ryan (9/5): Incredible 2-night stay with breath-taking views, delicious food and the friendliest staff. - Incredible views, well decorated rooms, phenomenal receptionist, super helpful and friendly staff throughout the hotel, amazing food and great cocktails, also lovely to see the brides and grooms taking photos on the sea balcony.
We loved it so much we booked a 2nd night whilst there!
There's also lovely scenic walks either left or right out of the property, with a choice of a beautiful quiet seaside town (with the best ice-cream I may have ever eaten) that has shops, cafes, restaurants and also a lovely walk along to some caves if you wanted to explore a little. Then there's a harbour with a lovely boat café, and also a beach within walking distance, we just couldn't get there due to a landslide, but from another viewpoint it looked lovely. Can be noisy on the evenings due to the wedding guests leaving dogs in the hotel rooms alone, which caused them some distress and made them bark/cry, along with general drunken arrivals back to their rooms. It didn't detract from our stay though, just something to note as it is a busy venue full of people having a great time for their special day.
Parking can be quite tight to get into, especially if you're in a camper van like we were, but there's lots of it!
- Andrew (10/5): Brilliant hotel wonderful location Lovely staff - Excellent all round stay NA
- Adam (8/5): -
- muriel (9/5): -
- Emily (8/5): -
- Barry (8/5): Fantastic location with stunning views! Breakfast could be better. - Location and the facilities were great. The service was fantastic. The breakfast was okay, The selection of food was great. The views were stunning. Breakfast wise, The sausages were not cooked to our liking they were quite underdone with no colour, as were the , the bacon was the complete opposite And felt like it had been cooked for some time, couldn’t even get the fork into the bacon.
The other problem we had with our room was it was very noisy at the end of the evening when going to bed and also early in the morning from 630. I don’t know if this was due to re-stocking or taking deliveries but it definitely woke us up which was a shame.
- Claudia (10/5): Séjour fantastique ! - Personnel super sympa, repas délicieux, chambre confortable, magnifique vue, piscine/espace spa moderne, etc.
Très bon rapport qualité prix!
- Mathew (10/5): -
- Hüseyin (10/5): -
- Jacek (10/5): Cudownie - Czystosc, widok z okna, wygodne lozka
- Gill (10/5): Stunning hotel and location - Wow!! What a location! Hotel was beautiful, staff lovely, location fabulous!
- Jemma (4/5): - The view was absolutely stunning.
Easy to park the truck.
Room was nice and clean.
Location lovely. Pool area dirty.
Restaurant area had lots of old cobwebs.
Beach walk way was closed even though it was advertised as open on their Facebook page. This was very disappointing as the main reason we chose Sandy Cove.
- Roberto (9/5): - Ottima posizione, staff molto gentile, buona colazione Niente
- Partridge (9/5): -
- ELIZABETH (10/5): -
- Andrew (9/5): Great location, friendly staff and amazing views. - Excellent location and amazing views. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was spacious and comfortable and the food was very good. The only small problem was vehicle access from Coombe Martin but that wasn’t the hotel’s fault.
- Gary (8/5): The location, restaurant and bar had an amazing view. The staff were great and we enjoyed the indoor swimming pool. - The view is amazing. We enjoyed the swimming pool and sauna. Staff were great and the breakfast was excellent Our room was at the back without a view and a
bit faded
- Darren (7/5): Very pleasant , foodcand rooms great staff friendky and lhelpful - View amazing , rooms nice , staff friendly Spa facilities not great , but understood under renovation
- Carrie (9/5): - The view was outstanding The food in both restaurants wasn’t that great
- Colinstannersx (5/5): - The location is fabulous It is now primarily a wedding venue and as such we were disappointed in the lack of a restaurant or bar with any ambience The menu for a hotel charging over £200 per night was limited and the food for a full English breakfast was not individually cooked I will be writing a letter of complaint to the owners
- Stephen (2/5): Very disappointing and wouldn’t consider staying again. - The view is fantastic and the swimming pool is a good addition. The female staff at reception were incredibly welcoming and accommodated to our unique needs. The breakfast staff were very good too. When we arrived it became apparent very quickly that the car park was not big enough to accommodate hotel guests, diners at the restaurant and people attending weddings at the location. This meant we needed to initially park on a residential road up a steep hill from the hotel, which was certainly not ideal when unloading the car.
The carpet and decor in the area near the stairs was tired and needs updating.
Only 1 fan in the family room. The family unit consists of a main room and a second room for children, 1 fan was little use in cooling down the rooms.
The family room was at the back of the hotel, on ground level with a public footpath running along the back meaning felt unsafe to have the windows open all night.
The bathroom window was very large and even though the glass was frosted, offered little privacy when in the shower with the footpath running along side the building.
We booked into the restaurant on the first night with the booking advising we had 1 hour 30 minutes at the table. We ended up sitting down to eat 25 minutes early so settled in knowing we had good time to get the kids fed and enjoy our evening after a long journey. At this point we were the only people in the restaurant. We ordered food for the kids and drinks for us, after about 30 minutes the waitress was told by the male manager to hurry us up and proceed to come over to us and advise that they needed the table back soon rushing us to pay the bill and vacate the table, exceptionally poor service.
The second night we hadn’t book into the restaurant as we planned to eat out but ended up back at the hotel early, we went to the restaurant to see if we could get in (this was about 4:15pm). Advised by the same male manager that they were fully booked and couldn’t/wouldn’t accommodate us.
- Melanie (1/5): Never again - Not much, there was no sandy cove, they had workmen everywhere, so that was disappointing. Everything, staff not particularly polite, no sandy cove as there were building works but no reduction in very over priced room.
- Mike (10/5): - Wonderful place to stay. Would like to return when the swimming pool extension is complete.
- Amy (8/5): - Stunning Views, lovely warm swimming pool, free parking and a delicious breakfast. Steam room out of order. No towels available in the spa had to go all the way back to reception. Getting to the room was like a maze down every corridor conceivable.
- Daniel (9/5): Fantastic view and great staff! - The view from our balcony room was incredible! Apart from some ongoing building work the grounds are kept immaculate. Our room had a lovely new shower room.
Every member of staff we interacted with was friendly. The service at dinner was fantastic, the staff are a credit to this hotel. The sound proofing in between rooms, and some of the communal areas could be updated but the hotel is obviously re-investing with the ongoing building work.
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Adrian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (7/5): Lovely hotel with disappointing aspects - The views were phenomenal. The balcony was lovely, as was the seating in the front of the hotel. There were lovely views from the restaurant. Some of the staff were not very friendly and not very helpful.
There was no lift.
The disabled parking was narrow and difficult to access.
The food was disappointing.
- Steven (8/5): Very good -
- Jintels (8/5): Exceptional view and wonderful stay - Absolutely stunning views, this makes the hotel stand out. Peaceful place, the ocean view very beautiful. Staff are friendly, restaurant has nice food with good choices and vegan/vegetarian options. Terrace outside has plenty of seating, nicely done with fashionable chairs and comfortable outdoor furniture. Room was not very big but had nice interior, two seats indoor and outdoor as well. Nice coffee maker and tea facilities. We had the classic room with balcony and as it is stated- with a large double bed.
Our bed was a queen size of 140cm wide which is really too small for a room like that. Plus if the bed is turned 90 degrees, you could have the stunning view from the bed. It would require to remove the heater though- which could be replaced by a flat electric panel at another wall in the room. But that is just my suggestion.
Seating was in front of dresser, not very handy.
- Karen (8/5): Peaceful - Location Pool no light or air con
- Keith (9/5): Superb - Loved the view and was very relaxing
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Malik (8/5): Very good -
- Christa (9/5): Fun - Good Building work not finished
- Jason (8/5): Very good -
- Clive (8/5): Very good - Fantastic Location. Nice staff. Great food. When the building work is finished, it will receive a 10/10 from me. Bed a little firmer than I am used to. (Subjective, I know)
- Ken (10/5): Relaxing - Room was surprisingly spacious and the en suite was the same. Beautiful setting and views and good food
- Catherine (6/5): Pleasant - Beautiful location and spotlessly clean hotel. Waited and hour for our main course in an almost empty restaurant.
Kitchen staff rowing with waiting staff and using fowel language didn't bother having another meal in restaurant. Food was very well presented and delicious shame about the staff.
- Paul (9/5): We had a great time - will certainly return... - Fantastic view Building works
- Roberta (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paul (8/5): Superb location with fantastic views - Location
- Andrew (7/5): Good - The location combined with the sea view room was amazing. Lovely clean, bright and comfortable room. Really nice friendly reception team. The restaurant is poor in all respects.
- Taylor (8/5): Very good - Location/setting excellent
- Ken (10/5): Amazing hotel with views to die for - Amazing setting overlooking the sea at Combe Martin. Great weather was a bonus. Brilliant staff and food to die for. My fish was so fresh I’m sure I could see it breathe. Nothing.
- Keith (10/5): Exceptional - The setting on the North Devon coast is stunning! Sandy Cove Hotel is in the perfect location to experience this part of the country. Even though some work for terrace updates was going on during our stay, it never distracted us from the gardens and views. The room was modern and comfortable with everything we needed, including an excellent restaurant. Already planning a return. No complaints!
- Kevin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jonathan (9/5): 1 night business trip, I found this place perfect for my visits. Nice food very comfortable - View is unbelievable, breathtaking to be honest. A very beautiful spot indeed. Nothing
- Rebecca (9/5): Amazing hotel with incredible views. - The location is stunning. We were lucky enough to get a room upgrade to a sea view room and it was incredible. Looked out onto the lovely headland around the bay.
The food was delicious. Breakfast was really good with a wide range of choice.
Staff were friendly.
Bed was comfy! Everything was great but we did feel that the interior of the hotel could have done with a touch up of paint. It didn’t hinder our stay here though and we will definitely be returning.
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sandra (10/5): Exceptional - Everything. The bedroom The food the service was all excellent. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. Each member of staff greeted you with a smile and were very professional in their roles
The beds were also very comfortable Absolutely nothing to dislike
- Andrew (10/5): It's a great spot for relaxing. - Great position overlooking the bay. Sit on the patio with a cocktail, watching the fishing boats and kayaks in the bay.
Food in the restaurant (overlooking the bay) is freshly cooked and delicious.
Take a dip in the heated indoor pool. Small amount of building work in progress to update facilities, but it didn't impose on our stay.
- Sugathan (10/5): Exceptional - Great location with stunning coastal views . Spacious rooms - they have rooms with different tariffs, we booked a family room as it was cheaper . Amazing and friendly staffs at both the reception and the restaurant who makes you feel welcomed . Complimentary breakfast with breathing views of the coastal line . What more to ask for ❤️
- Roshan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sweeney (9/5): Superb -
- Gordon (6/5): Pleasant -
- Nitin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jirka (10/5): Exceptional -
- Clinton (9/5): Superb -
- Andrew (10/5): Breathtaking views at a price you can afford - Great position overlooking Sandy Cove. Good base for exploring the area.
The balcony doubles on the 2nd floor give fantastic views. It's worth booking one.
The Cove restaurant provides a wonderful background setting, with some amazing food being produced. Mouth watering at the highest level. Thank you, guys.
A quality indoor swimming pool (towels provided from reception) with great changing facilities.
All in all, it was a delightful stay, which I extended because of all of the above.
Great value for money, and the staff are all so polite.
Make sure you stay here, you won't be disappointed.
- Buddy (9/5): Great hotel. - The view from the property is beautiful. Plus the pool is very relaxing. If you have a room above the patio area, the noise at night can be bothersome from people enjoying themselves.
- Kirsty (8/5): Very good - The view is beautiful and the staff very welcoming. Fantastic food and great cocktails Current works going on, however will be fantastic when finished.
- Buddy (9/5): Superb - View from hotel and the swimming pool.
- Nicola (10/5): Exceptional -
- Martin (10/5): All round great place to stay. - Lovely clean comfortable hotel in a fantastic location, staff are polite, friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. Nothing
- David (10/5): Excellent stay in great hotel. - Fantastic location, with a room overlooking the bay. All good: booking, check-in, staff, service, meals.
Really liked the way someone had written my name on the check in card in elegant calligraphic handwriting - an individual and special touch! All good.
- Cathy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lee (7/5): Good - View stunning Rooms were a little cold.
