Guest Reviews
- Lofty (8/5): All good, will recommend definitely - Location perfect Sadly our apple tv and Netflix were not functioning as advertised.
- María Margarita (8/5): Bien ubicado, cómodo y bien equipado. - Muy bien ubicado, cómodo y bien equipado. Un poco sucio, pero nada extremo. La cafetera no servía.
- Juan Francisco (6/5): -
- Huber (7/5): - The place was clean, and close to downtown. Kitchen tools were old and not very useful.
Diswasher was broken.
- Gonçalo (10/5): -
- Alessio (4/5): -
- christine (8/5): Grest place for stay in this wonderful city - Comfortable, good location good facilities
- de_torque (8/5): -
- Espinosa (8/5): - La ubicación y la habitación Las duchas no tienen jabón
- Dmytro (10/5): -
- CHEE KONG (8/5): - Perfect place to spend a night or two as good location and comes with kitchen and laundry facilities. However check in can be a nightmare if your booking platform does not update you with check in instructions
- Eleonora (8/5): -

- Tokuyo (8/5): Great location - The location is great and the parking was easy to find The staff accused me taking some hand towels and thread of charging me for it. It turns out that she forgot to provide those hand towels to us after she checked her picture. I did not know they take pictures each time after cleaning.
- Yannick (5/5): Fine if you travel on a budget and don't want to sleep in a camper - Location was great, almost everything in the city center can be reached by foot. The bed was comfortable and the easy self-check-in made it quite convenient. First floor facilities looked fine (kitchen, bathroom, etc.). We had mildew in our room, the apple tv did not work properly, the basement showers are in a horrible condition and right next to a toilet (where people poop while you shower right next to you - both are stalls). The rooms are not sound proof at all and you can here everything from travellers arriving late at night or leaving early in the morning to the beeping noise of the laundry machines. Maybe better if you have a first floor room, but basement rooms were a bad experience. They say they have some parking spots available, however, it is just public parking spots that anyone (also non guests) can take and is right next to the public street.
- Chris (6/5): -
- Sherry (6/5): - The location was fantastic. Check in was easy. Staff seemed to come in regularly and take out the trash and tiddy up the bathrooms. The couch for the third person to sleep on was awful. There was a lot of mold in the shower and the drain didn’t work well. You had to continually shut the water off during your shower so it didn’t flood the bathroom. Staff was notified and they were able to have maintenance clean the drain the following day. Customer service was good. Overall, the location was worth the stay.
- Martina (10/5): -
Almohada incomoda
Algo caro para lo que es
- Susan (10/5): - Adorable clean and close to down town. Super easy to get around the city.
- Deniz (9/5): -
- George Chikviladze (10/5): - Cozy guesthouse in a beautiful place, hosted by an extremally kind and polite hostess with good a sense of conducting business.
- Irena (10/5): Bardzo przyjemny nocleg w powrotnej drodze z trasy Laugavegur. - Mimo wspólnej łazienki naprawdę brak „korków” i wszystko czyste i zadbane. Kuchnia super wyposażona. Brak
- Malgorzata (8/5): - Nice kitchen area and comfortable bed. After reading the reviews I was worried about the access to the bathroom, but actually there was a bathroom on each floor so I didn't encounter any issues. Location is very good, 5-10 minutes walk from the city centre. One day it was raining a lot and I noticed a leakage in the ceiling of the room.
- Elise (8/5): -
- Vikram (2/5): - Pictures and description of property gave the impression that kitchen and bathroom facilities were part of the room. However they were shared and the room was so small, it had space for just about people to enter in and out. No space for luggage, very difficult and we were ,4 of us
- Anna (8/5): - Good location
- Anorak (8/5): - Short stay, didn’t look promising from the outside. But interior has been renovated.
- John (4/5): - Don't have proper window coverings. Mold in some spots.
- Mike (2/5): - Black mold in the room. Blackout blinds were not effective.
- Majoke (7/5): Perfect location but noisy - It was clean and the beds were good. There was a nice kitchen and the location is perfect. Close to the center! It was very noisy. Opening and closing the doors, locking and unlocking them, all goes very loudly, even when you try to be quiet. So there's a lot of noise during the night. Sharing a bathroom, which includes the one toilet they have, with 4 appartments (so with 8 people) is a lot. Sometimes we had to wait for a long time just to pee.
- Katja (7/5): Just to sleep after the flight. - It would be nice to at least have a kettle or a cooler with heating. Tap water stinks geotermal (no complains about that), but it would be nice to at least provide water and means to boil it.
- Jessica (6/5): - Some of the other guests were very loud and noisy and walls are thin. The keypad to get in was very loud and we heard everyone entering and exiting. It’s on a busy street but it is walkable to down town which was nice. The room was very stuffy with no way to get any airflow but the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was always wet so I don’t know if there was a leak or it was just from showers. It was a cheaper option for the area but I’m glad we were barely there and only stayed a couple nights. All in all…meh.
- Subhajeet (8/5): Very good -
- Anagh (8/5): - Great place to stay.
- Anagh (8/5): - Wonderful property - we stayed here twice during our trip and both times we had a great stay. The staff were very accommodating with our questions and requests as well. Note that if you’re bringing large luggage parking can be a bit of a challenge but regardless it is definitely still worthwhile staying here!
- Ibai (4/5): Sleep & go - Clean, cosy but nothing special for the price we paid. When I arrived, the room I was given looked nothing like the photos. I spent the afternoon there and wanted to watch TV, but there were no instructions on how to use it.
Later that night, when I returned with my wife, we realized the bed was not what we requested. I had specifically asked for a double bed, as we’re a couple, but instead there were two single beds pushed together. It was really uncomfortable. Check-out is supposed to be at 11 a.m., but by 10:30 someone was already trying to enter the room to clean. Honestly, that feels really disrespectful.
And finally, when we wanted to shower and relax at the end, the floor towel that was there in the morning had already been taken. Why the rush to push people out?
- Michael (10/5): dl - very good stay. we enjoyed it a lot.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Communal Bathrooms - Not what we were expecting.. Its essentially a non-descript, 3-story house in a standard neighborhood, paralleled by a busy main road, where parking if first-come-first-serve. The yard around the house was overgrown and the grounds were in need of maintenance. The only indication this was a guesthouse was the sign on the front door, which was not facing either street; we had to park , get out, walk around, and find it. Inside, there is a lockbox with a key for each room on each floor. Our family of 5 was split between rooms on the 3rd and 1st floors. The rooms consisted solely of a bed, some drawers, and poorly-fitted curtains with open windows.. Older furniture with signs of heavy use. There was also just a single common bathroom for all rooms on each floor and they weren't very clean looking or smelling. We did not find or see the common kitchen area in the photo, or any other room that looked as clean as that photo, though we briefly searched each floor.
- Aaron (8/5): - Just needed a place to lay my head for a night after hiking the Laugavegur trail. Office staff kept my large bag fro me for a few hours while I walked around Reykjavik, which I appreciated.
- MARY (6/5): - The place was clean but the room was tight for two people with two suitcases. My biggest issue was smelly water in bathrooms and laundry area. I also thing the locker room type showers needed small benches inside - a place to set your things, other than a hook.
- alessandro (10/5): - Awesome it is perfect!
- Joseph (2/5): - Water smelt like rotten eggs. You could hear everything all night, every footstep from everyone. The curtains were awful, since it didn’t get dark. And the shared bathrooms were miserable, bad towels, and no soap
- Asle (7/5): Good -
- Sudhanshu (6/5): - Noisy bathrooms audible to other rooms. Water smells too much sulphuric. Very nice kitchen and appliances.
- Helen (6/5): Pleasant - Great location TV, dishwasher, coffee machine not working
- Goran (10/5): Nice place to stay - Great location. Nice room. Lovely kitchen and dining room. Very clean. Highly recommend!
- Catherine (8/5): Very good - Good kitchen, tho’ a little pressure on resources if guesthouse is busy. Easy walk to centre and bus station. Could have saved money and walked from bus station when we arrived from the airport. You would be able to hear neighbouring rooms if they didn’t respect quiet hours but we met only lovely people and had a great stay.
- Jana (8/5): - Amazing location!
- Annabel (7/5): Good -
- Cliff (10/5): - Nice stay
- Kieran (7/5): Good - Good location, well centralised TV didn't work as expected, only an apple TV which could only be used with an iPhone which none of us have so we couldn't use it without an apple amount. Asked for 2 beds got one bed with 2 single blankets, radiator was leaking and room half painted
- Tsion (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tsion (10/5): Clean and nice - It is very clean and location is great -
- Jonasz (9/5): Perfect way to stay a night in central Reykjavík - Free parking right in front of Coffee machine broken
- Gisela (8/5): Very good - Very close to the city center, free parking on the street. Quite small, but to be expected. Shared bathroom, but very clean. Friendly and helpful staff.
- Eray (1/5): Don't try to stay here just because the price looks like affordable, a place you shouldn't stay. - Don't try to stay here just because the price looks like affordable, it's definitely a place you shouldn't stay.
- Jerry (10/5): - Very close to downtown Reykjavik
- Dennis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Claire (6/5): Pleasant - Great location WiFi was broken and staff were unable to assist in fixing it
- Flynn (7/5): Good - We didn’t like not having wifi or a tv remote which were both promised.
- Larissa (8/5): - Shared kitchen was fully stocked with what we needed for meals. One bathroom per floor of 3 rooms so there were people from other floors coming to ours to use the bathroom. Room was clean and comfortable. Shower was hot!
- Linda (4/5): - The pictures in advertisement were much nicer than the actual guesthouse. We were located by the kitchen and it was very noisy, especially during nighttime hours. Severe mold problem in our room from ceiling to floor. Parking was ok. Weeds up to my shoulders in back yard, and no clean path from rear street to door so very easy to track dirt in.
We were there for 4 days and no way to refresh towels or washcloth.
- Grace (8/5): This was an affordable, convenient, comfortable stay - The location, cost, and room sizes were very nice, as was the kitchen and laundry facilities. The shower floor looked a bit grimy
- Sofia (8/5): Convenient and budget friendly location with good enough quality. - The location is very convenient, with free parking and within walking distance of the cathedral and the city center. There’s cleaning everyday. The room is just what you need for a short stay. Good kitchen with enough utensils to cook a simple meal. Slightly noisy, you can definitely hear the other guests.
- Laetitia (8/5): Very good -
- Geri (4/5): - Tried to reach out to properly manager to get the code when checking in, no one ever got back to us and we had to wait hours to get in. Not happy
- Tan (8/5): nice pleacs to stay with kutchen facilities and amenities. - in town near supermarket and places of interest
- Jennifer (10/5): - Second time we stayed at the guest house. It is clean and the kitchen is a great feature especially traveling to Iceland with a family.
- Sudharsan (6/5): - Decent place, but looked little old inside and around the property
- Eva (4/5): - Great location. Needs much maintenance in the building…. Lots falling apart. TV advertised but no connection available.
- Sun (10/5): - The room was big and the bed was comfortable. If you are a light sleeper like myself then the traffic road noise maybe an issue. We physically checked in at 10 pm and left at 4 AM to leave for the airport.
- Kai (10/5): - Great location
- Luz (4/5): - What did we like? Room provided 2 twin beds and 1 sofa bed for 2 that were comfortable. It has a good location that allows you to walk to the main streets of Reykjavik.
What didn't we like? Entrance displays the need of maintenance. Bushes are overgrown and paint is past due. When we entered the Guesthouse, it was smelly. The room assigned to us was downstairs and if you do not turn on lights (which initially you have no idea where they are), you will not be able to see much.
Multiple showers like a dorm. I was not comfortable bathing alone since it seemed so spooky.
Overall, in our travel, we stayed in 5 different locations, and this was by far the least that we liked. Not returning and would not recommend.
- Florian (5/5): Passable -
- yidan (8/5): - The kitchen is very functional.
- Darren (8/5): Good location and base for a few nights in Reykjavik. - A good base for one or two nights in Reykjavik. It is a tired looking guesthouse from the outside with shared bathrooms and a communal kitchen area. Bathroom was OK [shower very hot] and the kitchen are had everything you needed to prepare snacks if you needed to.
The location is fantastic ... 5minute walk to the Cathedral/ciry centre and parking right outside was very good. The TV did not work because the controller battery was dead with no way to charge it.
- Zankel (8/5): Very good -
- Robert (10/5): - Close to downtown, but not in downtown. Walk across the street and cut next to church and you are in downtown. Bonus points for coffee machine in kitchen and free street parking
- Carlota (3/5): Poor -
- Dawn (10/5): - It was very clean!!! The shower did clog up but it was fixed immediately.
- Justin (8/5): - Clean and convenient stay near Reykjavik. Easy to walk to the main downtown. Convenient facilities and amenities. Even though the bathrooms were shared there was never a wait and they were clean. The available kitchen and laundry room was convenient. The room could use some updates and fixes. The bedroom light fixture was hanging by the electrical wires, the flooring had water damage, the back door had a visible gap to outside and the apple TV was missing a HDMI cable so the TV did not work.
- Amrutha (8/5): - Room and toilet are clean, shower could be cleaner. Check-in is easy. Very close to city center, we walked to all places.
- Larry (6/5): - The showers were dirty.
- Samuel (8/5): - Was a very peaceful place to return back to every night. Had good free street parking for our rental car. Very walkable to downtown Reykjavik. Nice kitchen. Clean. Only had problems with consistent internet. Otherwise, a great place at a reasonable price.
- Anna (6/5): - The door and window hinges were both broken. It was very difficult to open the door to our room. It was Impossible to close the window completely, making it a chilly and noisy night. The electricity in our room was off when we got to the room. When we called the reception desk they told us to check the fuse box. The electricity went off again when we were getting ready for bed. The parking was very difficult as non locals since parking is along the side of a very busy street. It was however a comfortable room and the common area was nice and well equipped.
- Amish (10/5): The place to stay in Reyjavik - Fantastic place with free parking and great location. Amazing cleanliness.
- Deepak (7/5): Good -
- Dorin (2/5): Misleading ad - We booked a superior room and have been given a standard size room. Be aware that the website doesn't tell that the bathroom and kitchen are shared. The was mouldy in the shower. There is a lot of noise from the street
- Rachel (10/5): Lovely place to stay! - Really great stay at Nordurey guesthouse. It’s very comfortable and clean and the rooms are modern and recently decorated. The location is very convenient and we found parking very easily. The kitchen is so handy and has everything you would need. I would stay here again if I came to Reykjavik
- Alicja (3/5): Poor - the bedding was wet and dirty, the trash can in the room too, the bathroom was very cold and there was supposed to be Netflix but there wasn't
