• carol (5/5): - The staff were lovely On booking.com it advertised beach access with photos of sunbeds on beach just in front of hotel (pics must have been taken years ago as sea has now taken over beach) There was no bar and no restaurante as advertised. My room had electrical fault with bedside light which tripped all electric, I was shown the fuse box and told which switch to turn back on!😬 but the electric still tripped because of a fault and was unsafe. I consequently cancelled my stay and found another hotel because of all of the above.

Vi fik mulighed for sent tjek-ud, da vi skulle sent med flyveren. Hotellet, værelset og fællesarealerne er nedslidte, forfaldent og ikke vedligeholdt. På værelset hænger gamle lamper og funtørrer, der ikke længere virker. Tapet på væggene hænger og malingen skallet af. Gardinerne kan ikke trækkes ordentlig fra, da metalringene og stangen er rustent og derfor svært ved at trække til siden. Det ligner, hotellet har været brugt til COVID-smittede med skilte på døre og vægge. Vil IKKE anbefale det. Prisen er alt for høj i forhold til, hvad man ellers kan få.

Приветливый персонал, всегда готов помочь и устранить неисправности, если что-то не так. Фен был сломан, но через день хозяин купил новый.

Tout est assez délabré, on dirait un hôtel désaffecté. Ne vaut pas du tout son prix. Attention si vous ne prenez pas une chambre côté mer vous donnerez sur la route principale de la ville et donc beaucoup de bruit et de pollution.

• Shirani (9/5): Super family run hotel with an excellent location - This is a family run establishment and the owner and family were very kind and caring towards my family - nothing was too much trouble. Rooms were large with great balconies to enjoy the sea views. Breakfast was excellent and filling. Location is excellent. Our room was quite hot despite air conditioning. We did appreciate the attempts to fix this / provide alternative rooms. As other reviews have mentioned, the hotel could benefit from updating, but the warm welcome, personal service and great aspect of the property by the sea do make up for this.

The manager (owner) was a great humble man and he personally took good care of our team. Excellent breakfast. Its also located in the center just 2-3 minutes to walk to the turtle beach I loved everything. Nothing to complain about

Cant get a better location for gentle daytime swims - Best location in Hikkiduwa - located within the main reef area so simply dive into beautiful warm water full of amazing fish from the dining room balcony without getting washed away by the waves (this is the benefit of this location). Watch out for the huge turtles whilst swimming, it’s the same bay as the turtle feeding area so they are around. Simply stunning sunset views from the sea view rooms (though rooms are basic!). Basic hotel but well worth staying! Fantastic. It’s basic so you need to ask for a kettle and a blanket etc however the family that own / run the hotel are wonderful and will accomodate.
• Anneke (7/5): Good location at the sea - The hotel is located “at” the sea. Nice view from the balcony and breakfast room. When we were there the sea was quite wild, so you hear the sound of the sea at your room: light sleepers are warned. Also the beach in front of the hotel was gone. The sea is right up to the hotel. Some of the hotel pictures show beach beds, but those are not there anymore. The beach is however 100m away. Not so clean

• Anne (1/5): Cancellation the night before - - The night before our stay (we were supposed to check in at 8 am) the staff informed us that we were no longer welcome to stay in their hotel, this deeply saddened us. We were at the airport about to board our plane to Sri Lanka, so this sudden cancellation brought us a great deal of stress and gave us a very bad start of the holiday we looked forward to. The staff previously communicated to us that there were damages in the hotel, but that we were still welcome to stay. After the cancellation we tried to get in touch but both our calls and our texts were not answered. Fortunately, the neighboring hotel was able to house us for the night. We are very dissapointed in this treatment.
• Leanne (8/5): Excellent breakfast and friendly owner, with a view that is unmatched. - The owner - Amal - was the friendliest and most attentive and helpful during our stay. He was so kind. The breakfast was the best we have had in Sri Lanka - string hoppers, three types of curry and tea. The kids had eggs, sausage, toast, jam, yoghurt, cake, fruit - we couldn't finish it! We went swimming at the beach just down from the hotel and a turtle popped its head up as we were swimming - an unforgettable experience! The facilities were quite run down and as it was in need of some repairs - it wouldn't be the place to stay if you were quite particular about things - but the beds were comfortable and the view, service and breakfast more than made up for it!

• Jill (6/5): Basic No-Frills Hotel - The staff didn't speak much English but were helpful. A big breakfast was served - eggs, toast, fruit, yogurt, cake, tea. The room had a balcony and a wet bathroom. Rooms that face the ocean aren't noisy. The main road has constant traffic and noise. The room was sort of clean but the whole hotel needed a good clean. My feet were black after walking barefoot. Many surfaces were grimy. The waves broke at the rock in front of the hotel so it wasn't safe to enter the water there. Instead you need to walk to the nearby beach which was crowded and strewn with trash. The Wifi was not good. We got vouchers but they only worked for a short time.

• Sandie (9/5): Very affordable, well situated accommodation - It was in a great central location . It had access to the ocean at the front . It was easy to get to the Hikkaduwa national park for snorkelling and then in the other direction to go to the lifesavers to watch the nightly release of the turtle hatchlings . It had a spacious room with a great big balcony overlooking the ocean with good sirconditioning . The staff were so helpful and attentive . You felt really safe . The owner organised a tuktuk driver to take us to Galle fort . That was a bonus as we stopped off at a Buddhist monastery . The fort was well worth seeing . He also organised a wonderful taxi driver to take us the airport . The breakfast were lovingly prepared and we had heaps of food . Even though it’s on a busy street you felt safe and couldn’t hear the noise . It had its own ambience like it had some of its own charm and wasn’t your normal hotel . The property is a bit dated but the owners are doing their best to maintain it .

• Leilani (6/5): For the money we paid, I can’t complain a whole lot. But it certainly didn’t match up to the ratings that led me to book - Closeness to beach. After some initial hiccups, Yona was very helpful with information for coral reef fish watching. He also recommended an excellent restaurant. Managers daughters all work during the school holidays at this facility and it was fun to interact with them. Breakfast was good. It was the only meal we had there. No parking. We were in a van. No help with finding facilities for our van driver. One of the rooms we booked head in adequate air conditioner that was barely functioning. I had to proactively ask for the people in that room to be moved. The place looked like it could use some TLC. Bath mat that could have been washed, discolored mirrors, dripping faucets.
• Daniel (2/5): Huge disappointment, cancelled on arrival - The location could have been nice. Apart from that the other reviews have little to do with the place we encountered and the pictures in this advertising create a wrong impression. This was the first time in many years that we actually cancelled a stay because the place didn't meet the advertised standards. The whole building is rundown and needs some serious work. The room and bathroom were dirty, the fridge plain disgusting. The rooms single light was halfway fallen from the wall, illuminating the rooms a/c unit that has not been cleaned in decades. From the balcony we had a view to the partly collapsed roof of the terrace below. Bathroom had some interesting wiring and the light was attached to the wall by cable ties. . For all of this they wanted to charge us $50, which will get you top class accommodation in Sri Lanka (we stayed at 15 different places during our travel and we can judge). As we only needed a place to sleep for one short night and could have done without touching shower and fridge we offered to pay a much reduced rate, just for a few hours of sleep, but the manager refused. So we moved straight out again and found an excellent homestay down the road, at a much nicer part of the beach, for under $15.

• Dinesh (10/5): Coral Seas Beach Hikkaduwa - Very friendly staff! Special mention of Amal the Manager who went out of his way to make sure we were well looked after. Was also able to meet and chat with the owner Mr Kapila Thabrew and told him the hotel is at a superb location ! Breakfast was very large . We had both Eastern and western breakfasts and both were delicious. Eastern breakfast was string hoppers and hoppers with fish curry and coconut sambal. The beds were very comfortable. The triple room with city view is very spacious and comfortable and recommended for a family. The ac worked very well although we were hardly in the room during the day. Good location and close to restaurants , mini supermarkets , and turtle beach. Did snorkelling with international diving station which is in part of coral sands hotel. This is a beach hotel and some of the facilities are difficult to maintain due to seaside environment. However price charged is fair and all hotel owners are going through a difficult time to maintain and run their hotels. Sea was a bit rough due to previous bad weather but still safe.

Safe Parking provided. - The breakfast was so good with a wide variety. The hosts were very nice to us and made us feel safe and homely. We were with kids and Mr. Amal and the owner were very helpful and was looking at ways to serve us at the best of their ability. Highly recommend this for a family or couple stay and experience the truly humble Sri Lanka hospitality. Wish them all the best.
• Marta (10/5): Perfect location and fantastic breakfast - The accommodation was excellent; we had a family room with a balcony and a sea view. It was clean, and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast deserves a very high rating; it was incredible, and we had a charming view from our table again. The location is absolutely perfect for spotting large turtles, exploring the coral reef, and visiting nearby restaurants, cafes, and shops. Despite that, the accommodation was very quiet and peaceful. The staff was wonderful and took great care of our comfort. It's a simple and older type of accommodation but provides everything you need.
• Lakmal (9/5): Superb - Having a room with a perfect view of Hikkaduwa Turtle Beach stretching to the horizon was a breathtaking experience. The meals at the hotel's restaurant were not only delicious but also beautifully presented. The friendly and attentive service provided by the staff made us feel right at home. We look forward to reliving these memories on our next visit to this wonderful hotel. Some areas appeared a bit dated and were in need of some repairs in the near future. However, the friendly service and the beautiful surroundings more than made up for these minor inconveniences.
• Will (5/5): Passable - The room had ample space, great mattress and beautiful view. The breakfast was good and the staff were very welcoming. Beach access is fine though the area just in front of the hotel access is rocky. You have to walk a short distance to the sand. The AC worked poorly in one room and not at all in another. The wifi also didn't work. Most every door and window seems like it's near breaking. Repairs are needed. This makes a stay beyond a day not desirable.

They should lower their prices because its not good for the amount that we paid. They should include the TV for every single room. Should clean balconies and something to cover the balcony area from sea breeze. They should clean the restaurant area for a better feeling and better view.

Not comfortable mattress, cleaning should be more precise, and rooms need at least basic renovation. A piece of painted ceiling fell near me when I was in bed. However hotel staff are very kind and attentive, nice place, very very tasty breakfast. And perfect view.

The sounds from the street were terribly loud could not get a restful sleep. We witnessed a rat scamper through the dining room. We asked for ice and it was a problem . The only positve thing is that the dinning room has stairs that lead to the beach. Expedia should not have this hotel (Coral Seas Hotel) on their website. First time I have been disappointed in the 20 years we have dealt with expedia.
• cherry (10/5): Great for the beach - Fantastic location as it’s right on the beach,where you have swimming with turtles and many surf schools and diving centres. Many bars and restaurants on the doorstep. The staff served with a smile and even made me an ice pack when I hurt my toe. Would recommend this hotel .
