• Luxury Cottage 2

  This suite has a balcony, microwave and electric kettle. A request for twin beds needs to be placed 24 hours in advance. This suite is recently renovated and is now fully self-catering with 2 plate gas hob with pots and pans, electric frying pan, heaters, electric blankets, etc. It has a veranda overlooking the pool. A king/twin beds in the main double volume bedroom and a single bed in the lounge area.

• Nina (10/5): Very pleasant and enjoyable. I would recommend this place to everybody! - I stayed at AppleBee in November 2025. The communication beforehand was very smooth and Jeannine was always quick to reply and help out with any questions. All the staff was very kind and Tony makes sure your on site stay runs smoothly. The accommodation was equipped with everything we needed, which made the stay very comfortable and pleasant. Since it was a longer stay it was nice that we were able to cook in the cottage as well. The pool was also a very nice extra. The breakfast was very tasty, if you're not yet sure to book it I would definitely recommend it. If I'm returning to Makhanda I will definitely come back here.

• Esther (3/5): It was my first and the last time at the place. I had to cut my stay with them and move to another Guesthouse due to the - Location, close to my daughter school. The staff is friendly. The carpet should be removed or be washed thoroughly same applies to the sofas. Cleaning ladies must also improve. I found dirty plates in the cupboard and was told it might be from the previous guest. The stove needs attention as well.
• Sarah (9/5): - Super clean, comfortable and spacious (at least for one or two people) apartment in a quiet area which felt very safe. Could walk to the centre in about 10-15 minutes. Really appreciated the good coffee, cereal and rusks that were available. Nothing major, but an additional light in the kitchen area ( over the hob) would have been nice.

• Paula (5/5): - Very good and safe location and the staff I met were very kind and accommodating. The compound is lovely and the pool nice although I did not use it. The kitchen area is very small with no space to prepare food. It is suitable for just making tea or coffee and very simple snacks. The bed is not comfortable.
• Ingrid (8/5): Applebee Guest Cottage - The cleaning staff and groundskeeper were very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean, had several appliances allowing you to be very self sufficient. The towel hook in the bathroom was a little too high to reach for a short person.

• Resego (8/5): Pleasant stay - The location was prime. I loved that it was a street away from The College of Transfiguration and a few minutes' drive to the schools/shopping center. The area is quiet, and the cottage was spacious and comfortable. Although it's self-catering, they provide cereals, milk, teas,coffee, and tasty rusks. If traveling in a group/ as a family, there's board games in one of the bedroom drawers. There's also a few books you may enjoy in the room. The owners also logged into their Netflix account, saving you ⁵the hassle of having to log in to a new device. The water. The water was terrible! Do buy water for drinking.

The pool area was so nice and the pool clean but unfortunately we couldn't swim as the weather didn't play along, it had safe parking and a nice area outside where i could train.

• Thera (10/5): Tremendous hospitality in beautiful, friendly Makhanda. - Convenient location – easy walk to downtown and the university, but in a quiet and beautiful area away from heavy traffic and city noise. All the staff were friendly, gracious, and efficient and went above and beyond to help. The room was cleaned exceedingly well every day and all necessary provisions (plus a few extras) were refreshed daily. The apples were delicious. There were surprisingly many pillows. Even my fairly small room had cooking facilities and a refrigerator, all of which helped me a lot. There wasn't anything I didn't like. I could mention that there is a fan that helps on hot days and nights, but the room I had could get rather hot during load-shedding hours, when the electricity is off (this is a country-wide issue that comes and goes). This isn't the property's fault, though.

All the cereals, milk and coffee offered made my stay bearable as I was attending classes at Rhodes. Tony was so helpful and kind. Thank you Tony!!

The property was big with a swimming pool. I went to stay there for safety, my rib was broken and I was traumatised. It felt like I was on a holiday. I will definitely stay there again. The staff was very polite. I liked everything.
