Guest Reviews
- Maksimilian (2/5): - This property is falsely advertised. The location listed on Expedia is not accurate, and when I arrived, it was nowhere near where it was supposed to be. I was forced to book another hotel last-minute. That alone would have been manageable, but the real issue is that the property provided no way to resolve the situation. They never answered their phone, ignored messages, and even when Expedia tried to reach them directly, there was no response. As a result, I was unable to cancel and lost over $1,300.
Travelers should be aware that this listing is misleading and the property is unresponsive.
- Emily (10/5): Best Lodge in Kinigi! Exceptional Service! - This hotel is the best place to stay in Kinigi/to gorilla trek! It’s the closest lodge to the Dian Fossey campus and women’s village, and the staff is exceptional. They are very friendly and helpful and went above and beyond. We loved that we’d come back to the hotel and they’d clean our shoes and give us a foot massage. They’d also get a fire going in your room while you are having dinner. We’d come back to bed with a heated bed (thanks to a warm water bottle they place in there) and a fire going. We felt we were in the coziest hotel room ever. The food was great too with an ever changing menu. I’d recommend getting the full board. It’d be hard to try restaurants at different lodges, so you’d save money instead of buying the meals separate. Last but not least, the super sweet dog Sparky. He added so much charm and welcomed all guests. We loved having him around so much.
- Tammie (2/5): - I booked this hotel through Expedia. But, the hotel canceled on me due to overbooking on their part. They called me while i was in the car traveling to check in. I had to change reservations to another hotel. In addition, I never to this date, have received a refund. My bill on expedia was over $900. The hotel didn't bother informing expedia of their mistake. I am still waiting a refund. don't take a chance on this place.
- Karen (10/5): - Lovely and large room with king bed and a fire place. Ensuite was also large. They also put hot water bottles in our bed at turn down - such a lovely gesture. Staff are extremely helpful and welcoming. Food good and fresh too. We also saw a Golden Monkey there too. Nb. Worth noting that the laundry service doesn’t include ironing/pressing.
- Joanna (10/5): - This is a delightful small hotel in Kinigi, close to the Gorilla Experience headquarters. The rooms are in spacious huts with a fire and hot water bottles provided at night as it gets quite cold. The staff are extremely polite and helpful, lighting fires in the lounge and dining room at sunset and with little portable fires for each table. The setting is rustic and charming with 4 star facilities and don’t forget the wonderful complimentary foot massage and shoe cleaning after the gorilla trek. Delightful little hotel.
- Pilar (6/5): Great location for Gorilla trekking - The staff was very friendly and more attentive than any other hotel I have ever stayed at. The lodge itself is very outdated the price was high but so are all the other ones in the area.
- Nicole (6/5): - Nice place but overpriced for what you get. There are not many mid-priced places in Musanze. The restaurant is convenient and good-but very expensive. You get nickeled and dimed for every bottle of water and cappuccino.
- Tyler G (8/5): - Exceedingly lovely staff. So many nice surprises like burning fireplaces in the rooms with hot water bottles in the beds, foot rubs and shoe cleanings after our hike. Mattresses were amazing. Food was quite good, the included breakfast is expansive. Very beautiful grounds. Live dancing one night. Lovely dog Sparky.
A few words of caution: most of our showers did not have hot water. Drinks and dinner were pretty pricey, so would consider at least bringing your own bottled water. They didn’t have the best intel re: Mt. Bisoke hike, so we just took ourselves, got COVID tested and registered on site.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - 房间很大,服务员都很热情,服务周到,但是热水不太好,我们三个人连续洗澡最后已经变成了凉水
- Noemie (10/5): BEST hotel in Rwanda. THANK YOU! - Best hotel I have ever stayed in in Rwanda ! Absolutely LOVELY. food is delicious, staff is very nice, friendly, excelent ginger tea, they put hot water bottles in your bed to warm it up, nice fire etc. the BEST. thank you SO MUCH!!!
- Marie-Louise (10/5): - We had an amazing time at Da Vinci Lodge. Very helpful staff and nice food.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great place with great people - Super friendly and helpful people. Fireplace and hot water bottles. What a service. Great experience
- Cez (4/5): Manager very unhelpful - We had made a booking here through expedia which the hotel confirmed. When we arrived we were sent to another hotel without an explanation. The manager Ruth was very unhelpful in offering any explanation or even giving formal confirmation that our booking was cancelled. Sad that she ruined the experience - other staff seemed to be cheerful and friendly.
- Will (10/5): Excellent Lodge for the Volcanoes National Park - The lodges in this resort are very large and very pleasant. The staff couldn't be more helpful.
Each evening of my stay, one of the staff built an excellent, long-lasting charcoal fire in my room, making sure the room stayed beautifully warm.
The meals were very good and very well priced.
After my two visits to the National Park, the hotel team gave a much-appreciated and very thorough foot massage.
- kevin (10/5): Lovely place. Fantastic staff - From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave, the staff cannot do enough to make your stay a fantastic experience. Would highly recommend this hotel
