- James (10/5): A little gem!! - Found this little gem of a place looking for somewhere to stay after doing a planned walk in the area. We had an amazing visit. The staff were friendly and accommodating, the room was fantastic, food was well prepared and tasty, service was efficient, beer and wine choices were extensive and the location of the Inn was great. Would love to visit again in summer and be able to sit outside and enjoy a drink and the view!!
- BERTRAND (10/5): - L'emplacement geographique, la vue sur la campagne anglaise, la chambre decoree avec soins, et la gentillesse du personnel Rien !
- Susan (9/5): Loved it and will definitely be back! - Beautiful location with spectacular views. Lovely room, very quiet and tranquil. Delicious breakfast and friendly staff. Will stay again. Really trivial I know but there were all kinds of different fruit teas on offer at breakfast apart from ordinary breakfast tea!

- Barry UK (9/5): Stunning location in the Pendle Hills - The hotel is beautifully located in the Pendle hills, but very convenient to other facilities and sites of interest in the area. Views from our room were beautiful and breakfasts excellent and able to be taken after a morning walk at a leisurely time. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. It would have been nice for the manager to explain the difficulties the hotel was experiencing with the plumbing and electricity. The temporary smell and noisy generator outside our window was not pleasant, but no explanation given.
This however did not detract to much from an enjoyable stay and we will definitely return.

- Lisa (10/5): Book it !! You won’t be disappointed - Cute and comfortable, staff all lovely and helpful and beautiful surroundings Not a complaint - but we booked the room for the spa bath after a long week at work, to find it wasn’t working…. Not the end of the world !! Still enjoyed the trip and been back and dined here since
- Clare (8/5): - Good was great and staff very friendly Didn’t like is harsh. The room was a little tired but perfectly clean and functional. Would stay again.
- Debra (10/5): Beautiful place to stay . - Comfortable, clean and spacious room with lovely views. Plenty of hot water to soak in good sized bath. Big fluffy towels, free toiletries and good selection on coffee/tea tray.
Welcoming atmosphere in the bar and restaurant and friendly staff , special mention to Yvonne who served breakfast and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was very good and plenty of choice . No problems parking. Will certainly stay again 😊 Having to leave. Enjoyed everything .
- MARGARET (8/5): - Relaxed atmosphere

Breakfast offer given for free....very kind indeed! Communal areas need a bit of tlc...that's all though
- andrew (8/5): I have stayed here before excellent place, food great and staff are excellent - excellent breakfast could start breakfast a little earlier
- David (8/5): I sent the full English breakfast back because the only thing that wasn't stone cold was the plate. - Room was ok Cooked breakfast
- Adrian (9/5): -
- Alan (9/5): Very nice - Very homely atmosphere in beautiful surroundings. Friendly staff and great food.
Breakfast especially good. Extremely large spider behind window blind in bathroom of room 4 😂, personally I was ok but my wife screamed blue murder. Would suggest it is removed 👍
- David (8/5): - Lovely setting and nice restauraunt
- Sarah (8/5): Very pleasant restaurant and hotel - The staff were very friendly and welcoming
It was warm, comfortable and clean.
We had dinner that was very good We couldn’t find the entrance from the car park. A sign would help.
We decided not to have breakfast as they didn’t have porridge or granola, or fruit on the menu.

- Tony (1/5): Nice hotel let down by poor management. - Cosy Cottage Accomadation Our party of 8 staying at the hotel were charged twice for the restaurant bill. 5 weeks later and we have still not received the promised refund.

- John (10/5): - Genuinely friendly welcome and a very comfortable, clean room - all of which I needed after a long, hard day on the Pennine Way. Arrived too late to eat in the evening but breakfast was terrific. Would thoroughly recommend the Alma.
- Jennifer (9/5): Wonderful experience & stay would love to return - Warm & friendly with amazing views and tasty food N/a
- Eleanor (10/5): - The quality of everything was excellent. This hotel deserves its 4 stars. The customer service was first class, their knowledge and expertise, with food and drinks are visible in every detail. The decor is warm and welcoming, the wood burner was constantly tended makings the lounge areas cozy and warm. There is a welcoming atmosphere and I highly recommend.
- Roland (10/5): - Great location, very quiet and recommended for walkers.
- Paul Martin (9/5): Nice place to stay with a real countryside feel. - All good. Nothing, all good.

- Francesca (9/5): Ci tornerei! - Ambiente tipico, arredamento curato.
- Linda (9/5): -
- Dermot (10/5): Fantastic!!! - Cannot fault our stay. Such a super location over looking the hills. Fantastic rustic building very well designed interior. Our room was so comfortable. Breakfast was superb with options for full English and full English vegetarian. Staff were equally fantastic!!! 10 out of 10.
- Kimberley (10/5): - Lovely pub with great dining and a warm welcome.
- Michael (10/5): Festival Sanctum - Great location with stunning views. Breakfast extra @ £15 each. Quality good and broad time window. But continental offerings limited. Cleaning staff superb, Friendly waiting staff and management.
- Ian (8/5): -
- Clare (8/5): Lovely characterful building - wonderful setting - would definitely return - In a beautiful location - the views are wonderful
Extremely generous sized rooms Nothing
- Caroline (8/5): Enjoyed our stay and would come back - Lovely location and great staff.
We had Sunday lunch and it was delicious Our room was above the kitchen and extractor fan so was a bit noisy. Would ask not to be in room 1 if we stay again.
Shower cubicle was in the small side.
- Daniel (10/5): - Very relaxing and great views
- Ray (7/5): Would stay again. - The location was lovely. The staff were great and very helpful. We had a problem and the Liam was very understanding and is sorting out a partial refund for us. We had travelled down from Northumberland and I had just finished work so I was really looking forward to a bath before we met with friends. The water pressure in the bathroom was poor. It took forever to run a bath which was only half full. We reported it to Liam the manager and he was not aware of the problem but did his best for us and has promised to refund some of our money.
- axel pieter (10/5): - Great property but stop forcing me to write reviews!!!!!!
- Luke (10/5): - Wonderful stay. Gorgeous breakfast. Comfy beds. The best bit...the views!!! Wow. Wish we had time to stay longer.
- Yvonne (10/5): - We arrived at 8pm and the staff purposely left the kitchen open fof us
A fantastic welcome
. The stsors to thd bedrooms werd steep so have to ho slowly
- Andrew (10/5): - Lovely welcome, very comfortable room with everything you need. Excellent breakfast, staff very friendly. Beautiful view to wake up to. Definitely stay again.
- Lynn (8/5): Lovely pub with large comfy bedrooms. - Very friendly staff, good service, fabulous big room, comfy bed, lovely view, nice hot shower. Good location as not too far for walks on Keighley moor or Stoodley Pike. Only a couple of things for me, was that as I had the bedroom window open, there was a constant noise, like a fan or generator outside the bedroom window & as a light sleeper, this did wake me, but thats just me.. I had a steak dinner, but for me, the ribeye steak was too fatty. Maybe I just had the wrong thing, as the rest of the menu looked lovely. I would go back & wouldn't put anyone off going. It's in a very peaceful location & a lovely pub.
- Will (6/5): -
- JANE (8/5): Lovely peaceful place with beautiful views - Lovely peaceful place to stay. Rooms are comfortable but I seem to have a problem with pillows they were definitely too hard
The hot water for the bath was only a trickle
Food is nice enough but not fabulous
It was good value for the money
- Ellen (6/5): Nice but overpriced - Very nice staff The breakfast was overpriced and bit underwhelming. The carpet in the hall and in our room was bit grubby. The stairs to our room was very steep and bit unsafe especially with bags.
- Hannah (10/5): Lovely stay in Lancashire - Lovely area, friendly/helpful staff, comfy bed and room.
- Mike (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ian (10/5): - Excellent Country Inn..good food and wine
- Mark (10/5): A hidden gem ! - Beautiful country in. Lovely room and superb welcome. A last minute booking turned out to be a hidden gem.
- Drew (9/5): The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. - Brilliant staff! Very friendly and welcoming.
- David (9/5): Superb - Lovely and peaceful location, food was great and staff excellent and really friendly.
- Sarah (4/5): Not happy - I could not fault the food it was really nice especially the breakfast. The girl with the red long hair at breakfast was nice. It wasn’t the room I thought we were getting from pictures on booking. Com. No view no bath. And a noisy fan all night long also really hard pillows. Hardly slept and then when the morning staff came in and switched the kitchen fan on it was louder. It was a special occasion ruined. I even sent the Alma inn a email message to ask for a room with a bath. They didn’t reply so I obviously thought it was sorted. I even told them it was a special occasion ruined. Not happy at all.
- Richard (9/5): Superb - Beautiful location and good food
- Graham (9/5): Superb -
- Gary (2/5): - Disappointing Stay at the Alma Inn, Colne — Not Quite the 4-Star Experience
After a long day of travel, we arrived at the Alma Inn with expectations of a luxurious and comfortable stay, buoyed by its website description and AA 4-star rating. Sadly, what we encountered in Room 2 was far from what was promised.
Pros:
· Early Wake-Up Call — for early risers only (see below for the why).
Cons:
· Dated and Worn Interior: The room was small, in need of decorating, with dirty carpets and visible stains on the walls.
· Cramped Bed: At 6'3", my feet dangled well off the edge of the very small double bed. Thankfully, I like my wife — we had to stay especially close that night.
· Tiny Shower Cubicle: One of the smallest I’ve ever squeezed into — not exactly spa-like comfort.
· Musty Atmosphere: The room had a damp, stale feel, possibly due to an ineffective bathroom extractor fan.
· Persistent Noise: Situated above the kitchen, the drone of the kitchen extractor outside our wall (peaking at 67dB) didn’t stop until 21:30. Then, as a Friday-to-Saturday guest, our “lie-in” ended abruptly at 08:07 when the extractor roared back to life. Frankly, I thought we were staying next to an aircraft engine test bay.
Due to limited text insufficient space to provide how shockingly bad the food in the restaurant was and our experience but further details can be provided upon request.
- Mitchell (8/5): Very good -
- Monty (9/5): Superb -
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Osborne (10/5): Excellent stay and I highly recommend it - Breakfast was amazing and huge! Setting is in a lovely location and staff could not have been friendlier The only criticism I have is the weather was hot and there was no air con in the room
- Stephen (10/5): - Perfect stay at the Alma. All staff were helpful and nothing was to much trouble. All friendly and personable. Rooms were very spacious with excellent views over the moors. Would highly recommend.
- David (4/5): - Firstly the hotels location, the staff, the room cleanliness, the bed comfort, and the hotels restaurant are excellent.
However it was let down by my rooms location. Ensure when booking you are not given room 1. I booked for Sunday evening which usually isn't the busiest of nights. I booked through a well know hotel website and got a good deal but regardless of the deal room 1 is not worth it. The room is situated above the kitchen with the air con unit running. The speaker from the bar, the bass can be heard. This quietens down by 9pm. You are though woken at 7am when kitchen starts up for breakfast the next day. No chance of a lie in. What a disappointment after such great reviews for the hotel. Room 1 should not be allowed to be booked out. It damages hotels reputation.
I'm sure seeing where the other rooms are, there would be no issue, as along the corridor. Just don't stay in room 1. I did ask to change the room as soon as I noticed when I arrived but was told a ridiculous amount money it would cost as need an upgrade.
The WiFi is free but not secure.
To top it off please also note that room 1 has no views. No views of the countryside just the kitchen roof and red bins.
I've stayed in a lot of hotels and have not been more disappointed by the room.
- Beatrice (10/5): Exceptional -
- Claire (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean and friendly staff
- Ian (8/5): Very good -
- Julie (8/5): Hidden Gem - The views around the property were stunning, a little hidden gem, lovely bar and restaurant so cosy. Will definitely be going back. Liked everything
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Victoria (10/5): Country perfection - Clean, comfortable, friendly, peaceful and welcoming Nothing
- Christine (10/5): - Stunning views to Pendle Hill from our room, friendly staff and an excellent dinner and breakfast. This was a much-needed short getaway and, with a great day’s walking today during which we hardly saw soul, was everything we’d hoped for. We will return.
- Anita (10/5): Short break - Very nice stay at the Alma Inn Colne , very friendly staff and Liam welcomed us and explained everything to us . We loved the setting in the beautiful countryside . Thank you to the Alma team
- Trevor (6/5): - My wife and I had dinner both evenings of our stay. On the 2nd evening my choice of 7oz fillet steak was unavailable so I opted for 10oz rib eye. Unfortunately the quality of the steak was poor - chewsome to the extreme! Very disappointing.
We have been staying at the Alma for over 40 years and the steak on previous occasions has always been excellent.
- Djc (8/5): Good stop-off on a long road trip north. - Good spot to break a long journey going north. Very scenic area with pleasant walks from the inn. Comfortable room, good food and beer. Big car park (but don't make the mistake of parking under the trees! "Free" wifi was free only in exchange for all your personal and device data to share with 3rd parties. Fortunately there is a good 4G/5G mobile data signal.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Alma be back - Absolutely beautiful hotel in a beautiful location. Could not fault a single thing ! 10/10 recommend to anybody staying in the area.
I was just there for work but went for an evening stroll and found there’s a lot to explore in the area too ! Very scenic
- Charles (8/5): Very good -
- Rachel (9/5): Superb -
- Mark (9/5): Superb -
- Richard (5/5): Passable - Room and location Food was indifferent and not good value
- Helen (9/5): Absolutely delightful. I’ll be back soon with my labradors ! Ps the vegetarian breakfast was beautiful 😻 - Everything was brilliant, beautifully decorated and spotless. The staff could not have been more helpful. The food portions are huge! Be hungry for what you order… it’s a big plateful. Loved that dogs were allowed, I’ll book again and bring my girl labradors ❤️
I have a wet room at home, so being able to bathe was delightful. The only things that I picked up was:
The join in the bed at room 3, woke me up as I was aware of it, maybe needs a thicker mattress topper. Otherwise super comfy.
The room didn’t have a view, albeit beautiful and quiet.
- Grahame (9/5): Superb - The location was brilliant Nothing
- Ord (8/5): Very good -
- Andrew (9/5): Lovely location and premises, staff helpful and room was clean and well decorated. - The location is beautiful, the view from my bedroom window was rolling hills. The room was very nice, clean and well laid out. The staff were very pleasant, helpful and chatty. Nothing!
- Nicole (9/5): Superb -
- Ronald (10/5): Exceptional -
- Niall (7/5): Promising, but make sure you eat your evening meal before 8pm. - Nice Room but the bathroom was up two stairs. Nice location and views. Staff helped me get a takeaway when non availability of food was apparent (see what I didn't like). Plenty of car parking space. Atmosphere. I walked in just after 8.30 pm to find the place deserted and the staff in 'cashing up mode'. They were finishing off and told me they would close the bar and leave at 10 p.m.
Can I have something to eat? Nope. Seems they stop serving at 8.30. The bar and restaurant were empty. I had to get a pizza delivered by Just Eat.
The car park had about 6 cars in it so there were other guests, but they must have gone back to their rooms. Does everyone in Lancashire eat and go to bed this early?
In the morning, checkout took far too long. I didn't stop for breakfast because I had a long journey.
- Kelly (9/5): Superb - We have stayed at the Alma Inn before and we enjoyed it just as much. The rooms are clean with comfy beds and cosy decor. We had Sunday dinner and the food was exceptional. It was a sunny day so we sat in the beer garden with lovely views. We loved our stay.
- Gary (10/5): - Lovely property & the bedrooms are clean & Quite.
- Anne (10/5): Another amazing stay. The hospitality and the food still remain exceptional. - The location is stunning and the relaxing atmosphere of the place together with exceptional food will not disappoint.
- Don (7/5): Lovely place, great pub, good value. Could be fantastic if a the little things were taken care of. - Good location, friendly staff, nice pub. The beer selection was good. The room was very clean and well-appointed. Nice to have a separate radio in the room rather than using the TV (old school but I like it). Wonderful rural location, nice and quiet. Rooms need a little TLC. Loose shower head, weak toilet flush, that sort of stuff.
- Pauline (8/5): - The Alma Inn was lovely quiet and relaxing. We had a good room for 2 nights with a beautiful view from our window.
- Gary (10/5): - Another nice 3 night stay.
