Guest Reviews
- John (10/5): - The Hotel is close to the Airport and good value for money. However it is in neet of modernisation and the area suffers from polution from vehicles and cars.
- msvaidya7 (6/5): Great location to spend the night after a late night arrival - A very convenient location for spending a night after arriving in Nairobi. Room was decent with comfortable beds & shower. Rooftop restaurant had a good breakfast and the staff was friendly. They sent a car to get us at the airport which was nice. There was a USD $20 charge for the car which would have been nice to know upfront
- Jens H (10/5): Nice transfer hotel - Nice transfer hotel when you have a transfer night in Nairobi Airport. Staff is very friendly and the roof top bar is a nice place to have a drink before bed time
- Pamela (10/5): - The room was lovely. Coffee and tea in the room with a hot pot was a treat. I enjoyed my one night.
- Douglas (2/5): - The hotel itself was amenable enough, but the surrounding area was scary. Also, no hot water in the shower.
- Melissa (10/5): - Airport Landing Hotel met every expectation I required:
Safe for a female solo traveler
Shuttle service
Staff response to emails/needs are timely & professional
Great price point for a short stay
Great wifi
Clean
Quiet
- Verified traveler (6/5): Decent - We booked this hotel because it was so close to the airport and had shuttle service. Our flight arrived an hr late at 11pm at night and the shuttle was there waiting. Proximity to the airport took less than 15 min. Very nice shuttle driver- Juan. The surcharge for the service was more than we expected- about a third of the room itself- both ways. But, it made late night and early departure very easy. There is a rooftop grill. Very good food and drinks. Reasonably priced. There was a good view of the surrounding area. I read previous reviews, and yes it is in a noisy area. It was tolerable until Saturday night. There is a club a couple blocks away. Very loud music started at about 8 pm and was still playing at 3:30am when we left Sunday morning. No sleep that night. If your stay includes a Saturday night, I would pass on this property unless you like to go clubbing.
- Victor (10/5): Come and see - The food was good the service was better
- Samuel (2/5): - The location is close to the road and noisy location and couldn’t sleep throughout the night
- Epiphane (6/5): - The facilities are just average. Good security. Poor breakfast service.
- CONOR (8/5): Ideal airport hotel - Ideal airport stopover venue. Staff incredibly helpful and friendly. Comfortable, decent room. Excellent location for access to JKIA
- J2768JWwilliams (10/5): Great hotel, excellent price. - I've visited Nairobi several times over the past 8 years. I've typically stayed at Westernized hotels near the airport, which were entirely satisfactory but recently have become too expensive ($200+ per night). I do mission work in Kenya and can't justify the cost of these hotels. I asked a friend in Kenya for a recommendation, and she mentioned the Airport Landing Hotel. I booked a room for about $60 a night, and I am pleased to say it was a good choice. The room was clean and nicely laid out, with plenty of space. The toilet and shower are separated. You don't always find it that way in East African hotels. Breakfast was very good, and although I went out for dinner, I expected that dinner would be just as good. The staff is accommodating and genuinely interested in your comfort. Overall, I would recommend this hotel for Western travelers interested in a good hotel not far from the airport.
As one other review mentioned, the road traffic nearby is a bit noisy, especially during rush hour. But given the location and convenience, I had no problem with that.
- Dennis (8/5): - Great hospitality, limited parking space
- Miguel (10/5): -
the property is very clean and comfortable; the neighborhood is a heavy traffic area but safe; I walked around the property without any problem. It's close to the airport which avoids me traffic jams in downtown on the way to the airport.
- Glenn (10/5): Good hotel Close to the airport - This Hotel is close to NBO. It is clean with friendly staff, good Wi-Fi and hot showers
- SUBHASIS (6/5): Uncomfortable stay in Nairobi - It is a very ordinary hotel with no attention to guest requirements. We were pushed into a non-ac room without information and we had to ask for an ac room which was allotted in a very noisy section. Our rest was severely disrupted. We are not happy with the hotel at all. Don't know why the hotel is kept so dark everywhere including the rooms.
- 985nilsg (10/5): LOVE THE HOTEL - The customer service was really great I arrived at night and the services was really quick because the receptionist understood we were tired and we had a very short layover thanks so much also the rooms were really cossy and spacious we enjoyed our stay
- Nakai (6/5): - Close to the airport
- annemK8826CH (8/5): Very clean and courteous staff - We stayed at the hotel for one night. The hotel is on a main, busy road which has been referenced in other reviews.
For a one night transit stay, it met our needs. What really allows this hotel to shine in our view was the hospitality of staff and how accommodating they were, this really exceeded our expectations, they were excellent. The bedsheets and the space were all very clean. The receptionist ensured the chef called us once he started his shift at 6am to tell us what was available for breakfast, as we had an early departure, this was packaged for us to go. Thank you for a great one night's stay.
- Valerie (4/5): - The location is awful, unsafe, noisy
The food is very bad
Decent room but no AC
- Maxine (10/5): - We stayed here for one night after arriving late in Nairobi, and it was just what we needed. Nothing fancy, but it was clean, close to the airport, good price. I would recommend it.
- Gary (4/5): - Photos look ok, but it’s in the middle of a unsafe/intimidating area.
- Matilda (10/5): - The staff were very friendly and willing to help. The room we stayed in was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good and we were offered healthy choices. We arrived at 3am and the communication was excellent. We found the driver waiting for us as promised.
I would stay there again and again.
- gaurib2014 (2/5): Rooms have no AC. Decrepit, non functioning with no hot water or AC - If there was less than one star rating, I would give that. I checked in on 26th August for one night, and was given a room without an AC or any kind of ventilation mechanism at all. Unfortunately, I did not check till after dinner. On asking the staff about the AC, I was very curtly told that if I wanted air, I should just open the window! We'll, I did just that and to my dismay, was kept up all night because of the highway traffic noise. It resulted in an episode of hypertensive crisis.
I reported the whole night's sage to reception, and, as I was booked again for one night on the 3rd, I requested to make sure that I would be given a room with air conditioning. Alas, the same story is repeated. Four different rooms, with AC not functional. The 5th room has AC but to running hot water. The solution provided? Shower in the next room or get out of the hotel!
This, at 10:30 pm in the night!
Needless to say, I will not book myself here ever. And not recommend it to anyone else either
- Jim (10/5): Perfect - It was great- they had someone pick me up and drop me off from the airport.
- William (10/5): - Service was excellent
- Terrence (10/5): - Nice people and ckean room's
- drnlm (6/5): Adequate, But Only Just! - I needed a room for a night in between flights. While the room was adequate for that purpose, it wasn't entirely pleasant.
The feel of the hotel was a bit dark and dingy, and not very well maintained.
I was briefly trapped in the lift, and also locked on the level that my room was on, because someone had locked the door between the rooms and the lift. It was a bit of a weird set up, and quite disconcerting.
But the shower worked, the bed was comfortable, and I was able to grab a quick breakfast before heading back to the airport.
- Haydn (6/5): - Value for money
- david (10/5): - Nice people, Nice place
- Sylvester (10/5): - Very friendly staffs,
- Brian (2/5): - Dirty and run Down
- Mark (10/5): Very pleasant and convenient. - This hotel put us close to the airport for a 5:30a.m. departure. Excellent service and facilities. Very satisfactory restaurant: food, service, PLUS a panoramic view of the airport.
VALUABLE TIP:
Approach this hotel from the Nairobi Expressway
--NOT from Outer Ring Road.
- Muhammed (2/5): - No internet service and they will keep lying to you we are working on it. I live there for two days no Wi-Fi internet service. Please people avoid this hotel and is horrible
- Mama (10/5): - Staff super nice. Rooms are very nice. Room service fast and tasty. Thanks!
- Hadir Ahmed Mohamed Awad (10/5): - Its clean place and they are friendly
- Farai (10/5): - I live in Canada and had to book a room for my mother in law on her way back to Zimbabwe. I called the hotel via WhatsApp and the call was picked up fast. Communicates with Veronica that I needed a shuttle to pick up my mother in law from the airport and then take her back. Everything was was done. I texted them and they responded promptly. Truly grateful for you guys.
- Maureen Sarah (6/5): - Generally the facility is dated
- Paolo (10/5): - Very comfortable hotel with a nice roof top restaurant
The management it pretty good and the manager kellan she always ready to ensure f the client have a good stay
- EYOBO MOSES KUOL (10/5): - All is okay
- Cameron (10/5): - It was very nice for the price and staff was very good
- Gertrude (8/5): Good - I needed a bed for an overnight transit and I got it. Comfy clean and affordable.
Bathroom needs a modern eco systems.
- travelwithkiddos (2/5): Stay elsewhere - I chose this hotel due to its proximity to the airport. I booked a transfer in advance for early in the morning and confirmed it upon check in. In the morning nobody was there to take us to the airport. The girl at the front desk kept trying to call someone. There were two other people waiting for a transfer as well. She kept saying it would just be a few minutes. Finally almost an hour later their driver showed up but he chose to chat with the hotel staff while we begged him to take us as it was getting late . Before entering the airport, we had to exit the van and walk through an airport security check point. When we got back in the van the sliding door wouldn’t shut and the driver made no attempt to help. We were about to drive the rest of the way with it open as it was getting later. My husband got out of the car and was able to get it shut. We finally made it, but it was way to stressful of a ride.
On top of that the hotel had no hot water when I took a shower. The elevator was broken, it was very noisy, and the restaurant took forever to get us our food. We stayed at their sister Hotel Airport 67 when we arrived in Kenya which was much better.
- James (10/5): - Very Clean.
The lift should be 24 hours. It wasn’t easy moving downstairs from 3rd floor using the stairs with no help from the hotel porters.
Exit door shouldn’t be locked with padlock . Had to wait for security to let us out.
Apart from that , the staffs are good and helpful.
- Cristina (2/5): - There was no hot water , we have to swap to another room , the bathroom door wasn’t closing , no elevator
- EMBAY (4/5): - Not acceptable for the price
- Jonathan (10/5): Great hotel with good pricing near the airport - The Hotel is near the Airport and the Front office was amazing i recommend highly
- Peter (8/5): - I always stay at ALH when either leaving or comìng to Nairobi, its a good place to start and end my trips with !
- Daaf (10/5): Perfect for overnight close to the airport - Neat and clean. Perfect for overnight close to the airport - 15 mins travel via taxi at $10 each way (at night when there is no congestion). Shower was luke warm, but room spacious and perfect at this price.
- TinabethTravels (10/5): Excellent Value! - This is an excellent hotel to stay at when arriving or leaving Nairobi. We stayed the night before our early morning flight (4:25am) to the USA and its about a 10-15 minute taxi ride away. The hotel has a taxi driver they can arrange for you for $10. They also have a rooftop restaurant with very tasty food where we ate our dinner the night before our flight. The rooms are clean and comfortable - plus they have a gym. It truly is an excellent value especially for the budget conscious!
- Alnoor (4/5): - Towels were torn. Cigarette smell was in the non smoking room. Elevator not working.
- Yuza Titus (6/5): - A clean and comfortable hotel
- sortilegus (8/5): It is Basic, but It has Everything You Need - I stayed here for a night. I arrived in the evening and left at 0230 am. The room is fine. Not too small. The sheets were washed and ironed. I had a double bed. The bathroom is rather small but showered and did what I needed to do and it was fine. There is a restaurant and bar upstairs that closes at 9:00 pm. I did not go up, though they offered to send food and drink to my room. The young man who acts as bell boy was professional and courteous. Also the lady at the reception desk was very professional. Everything that was promised was delivered. I have no complaints and will return when I have a short layover.
- cincol (8/5): Convenient Location - Comfy room close to the airport. Excellent shuttle service at 2.00 am that was prompt! Great place to sleep when you arrive in Nairobi and want to get to sleep as soon as possible.
Food is reasonable. Had a fairly decent breakfast.
Overall pretty good value for your money.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Cleanliness was not there in the room and the bathroom wow not good at all
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Good for a quick stop over and proximity to airport is great.
- AHMED (6/5): - People are polite. Breakfast is good if you tell what you want in advance. Like 20 min before.
- Pierre (10/5): - Nice staff and very useful answer my question quickly
- Verified traveler (8/5): Proximity to airport - A decent room that was suitable for an overnight heading to the airport. The area it is in is not the most upmarket but once inside the hotel it is fine
- Verified traveler (6/5): Basic but decent room for stopover! - Needed a room for a few hours while we waited for our connecting flight. This hotel was very clean. Basic hotel, no frills.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It's a good place and would recommend other people to stay there
- temituoyo (6/5): Excellent Customer Service - I had a mix up in my booking for Airport Landing Hotel and communicated directly with the Hotel. I received a warm response stating their willingness to accommodate me at my preferred dates. On arrival late at night, the friendly staff at the reception welcomed me, ushered me to my room and provided a hot room service meal. Great service and welcome. The Hotel is supposed to be close to the airport, but you have to go around serious traffic to reach it or get to the airport from it. Its location on a busy highway means it can be noisy until late at night and then very early in the morning. Good value for money.
- Elliot (6/5): - The staff were very friendly and helpful however the hotel rooms need work, my husband nearly got electrocuted when plugging in our phone charger and the place lost power. Although staff were quick at fixing it. We also couldn’t sleep as guests in the next room were shouting loudly all night, there is no sound proofing.
- Travellingtechnician (10/5): Great Stay At Airport Landing Hotel Nairobi - In November a colleague and I stayed at the Airport Landing Hotel in Nairobi. The rooms were pleasant and the supper was fantastic with a local flare. It was my first time to Kenya, and when I am back I will definitely stay at Airport Landing again. I would like to thank Molly Ndumia and her team for making us feel welcome.
- M_K_Lazarus (10/5): ONE OF THE BEST HOTEL IN NAIROBI - Doubtlessly, one of the favourite hotels I stayed in during my time in Nairobi! Upon arrival i was warmly welcomed by the porter who immediately took me to the reception, my names were mentioned on the board as I arrived at Jomo Kenyatta International airport.
The staff was extremely friendly, the restaurant was stylishly lighted. I had a six nights stay, which obviously also added up to the experience.
Delicious food at very reasonable prices compared to other hotels around, spacious room with a fridge and a safe, internet availed on all hotel premises but mostly very quite. The owner is sometimes the talking to customers if they re having a good stay
I highly recommend this hotel.
- 599piotrp (6/5): Close to the airport and that's it. - Hotel is close to the airport. 10 min by car. They organized me the transfer for 10 USD. Transfer was efficient. Check in fast. Room was OK. Unfortunately somebody was working with drill machine till 24 in the night. I was expected that the street would be noisy. But this was really loud. So I could't sleep. Unfortunately this guy started to work again at 5 in the morning. So after 10 hour flight I had only 5 hours of sleep. Breakfast was not bad and costed 10 USD. Close to the hotel is a small supermarket where you can buy water and food for your further trip. It is the hotel where you can stay one night after flight considering that this guy in not working half of the night with this drill machine....
- John (8/5): - Clean. Friendly staff . Nice restaurant with good food and reasonably good prices
- Fwrainer (10/5): top service, pick-up airport, restaurant food is excellent - Top rating for reliable pick and bring service to/from airport Kenyatta. I was too earlyby 20 min out of airport (Swiss Airline), but other pick up service called the guy immediately and all was right and reliable, as booked. (I know how to appreciate such service in such countries where quickly others can use you for other cheating businesses.) Payment only in hotel. Bring service same. After long flights and arriving at hotel I was in need of rest and food: the restaurant had excellent chicken-risotto, it took some time but all was freshly made, I enjoyed it really. The rooms are clean and good organized, though its not 5-star but for this price level top clean and functional.
- Alexbee1 (8/5): Good One night stay hotel in transit - I had a very decent experience at Airport Landing Hotel. The room was clean and of a very good size. Linen was also clean and the bed comfortable. The reception staff were quite friendly and accommodating. WiFi access was free and I was able to communicate with family easily. I wouldn't mind spending another night at this hotel. The downside was that the airport shuttle was slightly overpriced at US$20.00, which is double what I recently paid for the same service at similar property which is approximately the same distance from the airport.
- stevesH4493BR (6/5): Good for a night, but that’s it - I was surprised to find that the rooms were very good quality and the bed comfortable. The reception staff were all very helpful as was the airport transfer driver.
Sadly the same can’t be said for the restaurant, which we ate at out of necessity given the location and lack of other options. The staff were rude and dismissive and the food took an hour to arrive despite it being quiet and only two of us. When it finally turned up it was poor quality (especially for the price).
- Sue (6/5): - It’s convenient, inside is well kept, staff are very courteous.
What I didn’t like was I called week before and couple days to confirm shuttle from airport, it was confirmed but upon arrival there was no one and I attempted to call several times no one would pick my calls so I asked someone to call and still there was no one sent I stayed at the airport till 1am wS picked up by my brother from out of town
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Not clean. Noisy at night. Barely hot water. Looks cheap and old even though hotel is only 2 year old.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean bed sheets, towels, new the airport, free wiFi
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good hotel, close to airport. Friendly staff. Comfortable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very clean hotel, the bed sheet, shower, room was clean also.
- Elizabeth (4/5): Poor facility - The place is in the local market place, the rooms are filthy with bathrooms not draining water. If you arrive after 11pm the place is locked up and you have to look for a night guard to open the door exposing one to possible attacks. The elevators did not work on the day I stayed there and we had to haul luggage up and down the stairs. No air conditioning and it was very hot with mosquitoes.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Fine for short stay
- JadeP24601 (8/5): Over night stop over - This hotel is lovely and not far from the airport (around 30 - 40 minutes dependent on traffic).
It is great for a one night stay as we stopped over for the night after a late landing before departing in the morning.
Shower is good and they have western style toliets. Reception staff were friendly and attentive.
If you are on the second floor like us then take up their offer of taking your suitcases up for you as there is no lift and 2 flights of stairs :)
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Unsafe. Out-dated. Terrible. Lots of traffic immediately outside the hotel. Lots of people loitering immediately outside the hotel. Unsafe vibes.
- Aileen (10/5): Overnight stayers beware of stray dogs - The reception was just cold but we ignored that and headed for our bedrooms. Morning showers were not good as the water was cold. As we just needed a place for an overnight stay cannot complain too much. Use the taxi recommended by the hotel they are cheaper
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff was great! Hotel food was tasty, room and hotel were all clean. The was security always outside, which made us feel safe inside. They were helpful. We ran into a situation with out discover credit card (the country doesn’t support that credit card), so we ordered food before finding out. Thankfully Expedia accepts Discover, they found a way to work it out. Choose this hotel if you’re ever in Nairobi! You won’t regret it, I know I didn’t. Also location is 5 minutes from the mall— walking.
- Dan0001 (8/5): Great Price/Good Room/Helpful Staff - My experience at the Airport Landing Hotel was excellent for the price. The hotel is right on the highway so not a beautiful spot...but near the airport depending on the direction you are going (It is more convenient if you are coming from the airport than if you are going to it.) When we arrived our initial room we were given, the air conditioning did not work. We were immediately moved to a much larger very spacious room. The place was clean, the bed comfortable the shower lovely. There was no room noise where we stayed though others have complained of this. Breakfast was not included in our online price but was purchased cheaply enough the next day. Other places to get food are near by. When flying out the next morning we received help in getting an Uber and a call back to make sure we arrived properly to the airport. If you need a cheap and easy place to stay near the airport consider this place.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Not a good experience at all. The staff were very unfriendly and unaccommodating. The "airport shuttle" was terrible in that it was a private car and not an official shuttle. The car was not in good shape and the driver drove on the wrong side of the road, in front of oncoming traffic and very dangerously.
- Lamar (8/5): - Property was perfect for an overnight stay. Staff were pleasant, accommodating and helpful. Rooms were clean and modern; pictures were a exact representation of rooms. Would definitely recommend for short stays.
- Cardiff1981 (6/5): Good for airport transfers but otherwise overpriced for what you get. - This place is very convenient for the airport, but that'd be my only reason for staying here again. It's expensive for what it is. The rooms have paper thin walls, so anything going on in any room on your corridor can be heard clearly. The electronic room keys kept conking out (so we had to keep returning to reception to get into our room) and the food in the restaurant is pretty poor for the prices. The reception staff might talk to you with their earphones still in. However the more junior staff are sweet and the guy who does the airport transfers is lovely.

- Verified traveler (6/5): - I liked the rooms and other facilities in general but it is right next to the highway and was noisy throughout the night.
- Tim (6/5): - A bit disappointing, I paid $NZ120 through Expedia for 1 night, and I've stayed in far nicer hotels in Africa, even Nairobi, for less or not much more than that. My room was small, had no outside window, just a view of a concrete wall. Staff were friendly but not really professional hotel staff, facilities average, bar/restaurant a bit gloomy, and it's a bit difficult to get to - it's off a service lane that doesn't connect often with the main highway - my taxi driver opted to jump the ditch, rather than drive the extra distance to get to the service lane. Ok for a transit stop I guess, but don't pay $NZ120 for it !!!
- Larry (8/5): - Nice location, just 10 minutes to airport. Staff is friendly. Note that if you want late checkout after noon, you have to pay $50. Breakfast was ok although service was extremely slow.
- Felipe (8/5): Very good stop nearby the airport. - I just stayed for a night, but I could see that the staff is very kind and helpful and the room is well organised and clean. Very good option if you need a place to work for some few days before facing long hours travelling.
- Emma (6/5): ok for the price paid - Nice hotel close to the airport - but not as close as I expected being suggested by the name - landing hotel.
Some misleading information - first, the transfers are not free, they are charged at $15.
2nd - issue with my pre paid rooms, I had to get the manager to call Expedia to confirm payments. I also had to inform them breakfast was included and to show on my confirmation where it stated the same.
3rd - their meals takes more than an hour to be prepared. and I was served a different breakfast to what was suggested on the menu.
in summary - it didn't seem as though the staff were aware of what they are putting on Expedia and if I didn't have all my documents, I might have been double charged.
still, I would use the property only after I triple confirm they have all necessary information before I depart.
- charz (4/5): Hotel next to main highway - Very frustrating experience:- our booking included transfer from the airport and bed and breakfast. But when we arrived the drive was not Available we were asked to take a taxi ourselves which we refused and finally hotel receptionist got someone to pick us. On arrival to the hotel we we advise breakfast was not included even after showing the receptionist a printed and email confirmation she still had to call the hotel manager and ebookers to confirm breakfast was included. Servises was very very slow. Cup of tea took more than an hour to be served. Breakfast we was even worse as what was on the menu is not what was served. I personally think the hotel is struggling. The toilet in the room had a bad odour which apparently is from the cleaning products. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great airport location - Excellent location close to airport. Not much in the area around hotel for dinner, but restaurant at hotel worked.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Not bad hotel, close to the airport - This is a decent hotel if you need to stay overnight within reach of the airport (though it's a longer drive to get there from the airport than you'd think from looking at the map). The rooms are basic but perfectly comfortable. The receptionist and restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful. The big downside with this hotel is that it is located directly on a major road, which is very noisy all night. When you book, make sure you ask for a room facing away from the road.
- David (4/5): fine if you want to double pay - nice hotel, convenient to airport, but refused to acknowledge that I'd prepaid on orbitz and had to double pay...for me this is a non-starter, don't need that headache at 5am
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Very nice room, but lacked in food options.
- Sham (10/5): Worth staying - Good comfortable hotel. Near the airport.
- Sherrie (10/5): Clean and cosy - The hotel proximity to the airport and the cost are what attracted us to stay there. The area surrounding the hotel might deter someone but its surprisingly safe and very clean. There is a cafe downstairs was open late and had fresh food and drinks. The breakfast buffet was limited but the omelette was tasty. there is also free wifi available.
- Verified traveler (6/5): The hotel was fine, served a purpose - We wanted a hotel near to Nairobi airport, it was not a great hotel but it was close enough to the airport.
- Brenda (6/5): Fairly close to airport. - Staff here were friendly and helpful. Room was clean but there was no cooling and no screen on window. The hot water didn't work in shower. Drive to airport was pleasant. Breakfast adequate.
