Guest Reviews
- Kelly (10/5): Absolutely perfect for my needs, would stay again! - Lovely apartment, hostess was lovely and very accommodating, the place was pristine and it helped me have a very enjoyable stay in Elgin. Would highly recommend! Excellent facilities and location, right next to the beautiful Cathedral and Park, and a large Tesco and Aldis.
- Luke (1/5): Appalling and Stunk like cigarettes. - The fact that it was across from Elgin Cathedral It was in a set of housing flats, it smelled horrible of cigarette smoke (like someone was smoking red Marlboros for the last 20 years in it). The futon mattress was thinner than a pillow and you could feel every bar in your shoulders hips and head. When I approached the host I was told I was over exaggerating and that the futon was only for infants. I wouldn't put my dog let alone my infant. I'm asthmatic so I was coughing and my throat hurt, it had rubbish outside and inside the unit. Do not go there (unless you're a smoker) and don't think the futon is safe or comfortable because it's not. I will be complaining to booking.com management.
- Betty (8/5): For what we paid it was fine - Easy to locate, good parking available Noisy refrigerator kept me waken, reported to owner, motor wouldn’t shut off.
- Muhammad (5/5): - Location
- Karen (7/5): - Plenty of room not far from town. A new double bed would be a good idea mattress getting a bit uncomfortable. Ok for 1 night but not for a longer time.
- Gordon (7/5): -
- Giulia (5/5): - Quartiere tranquillo e molto carino Pulizia dell'appartamento abbastanza imbarazzante. Due sole forchette per quattro persone, bicchieri inutilizzabili dal forte odore e molto unti. Odore della biancheria da letto, anch'esso abbastanza discutibile...
- Marco (4/5): - Shower Is ok. Also the kitchen is usable. Terrible double bed, sofa bed not opening
- David (10/5): - Location Nothing

- Lisa (8/5): Cute little flat with a super comfortable bed - Loved the comfortable bed, pillows, duvet had a superb sleep. Location was within walking distance to the University. Beautifully located by the river. Area was quiet and shop near by. Was very clean and tidy. Host communicated fast and accommodated our request to check in a little earlier, clear instructions given also via messaging. Good value for money within this area and I would return.
- Anita (5/5): Clean, but decor could be updated - There was no lights on the stairwell
Stairwell was Dirty
Apartment was very cold
Very Basic
No TV In bedroom
Curtains in living room Dirty
Windows could be doing with getting updated
- Linda (10/5): Excellent stay at the Riverview apartment. - Excellent stay at the Riverview apartment. It is located in a nice building with a secure entrance and in nice quiet area next to the Historic Elgin Cathedral, big park and a river. The flat itself has a nice view of the river. The property is in a walking distance to the centre ,train station and the bus station. The flat was very clean, smelled fresh and has clean ,fresh bedding and towels. Also the flat is very well equipped . The bathroom was very nice with a bath and shower .The bed was very comfortable. The access to the flat was easy and the communication with the host excellent.
- Deivdiane (1/5): Bad -
- James (8/5): - Easy to get into the apartment and the pull out bed was comfortable. The bedroom bed was not as comfortable. Well stocked and organized, but noisy complex In a rundown part of the city.
- Hannah (1/5): Awful - read the other reviews - avoid. - Location was fine Entrance to the accommodation was a disgrace, dirty, wet wipes in hall way, smell of weed coming up the stairs. Sheets were dirty and ripped, blood stains on the sofa bed mattress so one person slept on the floor. Sheets smelt musty and damp. Bath mat was brown. The whole apartment was damp - both our surveyors who stayed there have asthma which was aggravated by this.
We booked this accommodation fairly last minute and there was nothing much around, the pictures make it look fine but it really isn't. Our surveyors rang around local hotels to try to find alternative accommodation but there was nothing so had no choice but to stay.
- Warren (8/5): - It was beautiful to be beside the Cathedral. It was nice to get some laundry done while there. They would benefit from having salt, pepper, butter and separate packages for the sugar. Also to let guests know there is a flight of stairs to the flat.
- Leitch (1/5): Utter disgrace - No working toilet, ripped bed sheets, filthy landing, also no landing light so climbing stairs in pitch black, so liked nothing, and not even a partial refund Everything
- Caroline (8/5): - It was very close to the beautiful Elgin Cathedral and parks and town. Unfortunately the toilet was not working well that night. Also the train was not running so we had a very long hike with luggage from the bus drop-off.
- Connor (8/5): Was alright - Upon first arriving at the apartment, we agreed it was cozy, looked nice enough. Was more than alright for two people to stay 4 nights. Oven was good. In a amazing location. Which reflects in the price point the owners want from you. I don't believe the owners are unreasonable with the price. But I do personally think it's a bit too high for what you get. Picturesque location. And if you are a couple. It will do you amazingly. It's not the Ritz, but it is manageable and affordable. It is a 8 rating for a reason, it did do us well. The hot water wasn't a problem to turn on, the issue was it fluctuating between scalding hot and freezing cold. A minor issue. But major inconvenience, the toilet, upon leaving admittedly was blocked. No plunger to hand, and easy fix. If you have gloves to stick your hand into the cistern. And reconnect the handle. In other words. The toilet had a meltdown. I personally don't believe it's in the £500+ a week range. More like £400 but I'm not the owner. And the leaving times are a bit too strict. You have to leave by 10am or you can be charged extra just for having a sleep in. Check in time 3pm was a bit rough as well seeing as I had to wheel a suitcase around for 6 hours before I could enter and set it down. Bed sheets were stained but they do provide linen which you could just chuck in the washing machine and it does the job. All the beds were uncomfy, we had to improvise.
- Robert (9/5): Superb -
- Robert (9/5): Superb -
- Jacqueline (7/5): Good -
- Laura (6/5): Cathedral but no WiFi - Proximity to Elgin Cathedral made it a nice walk and visit in the morning. Since we are from out of the country, we have relied on WiFi for connectivity. It was not advertised as having WiFi, but I didn't realize when I booked how much of a bother that would be.
- Zammit (5/5): Ok - Location No hot water in the kitchen , dining chairs loose legs. Sofa beds left with dirty disgusting sheets and pillows that were old and foul. Towels left damp, stiff and smelly on an airer in a cupboard . Had to use extra mattress from single sofa to sleep
- Kenneth (5/5): We were looking for a comfortable, cosy stay but were disappointed. - Breakfast N/A. Good location. The flat was not cosy, the entrance to the flats was dirty, although flat was clean. The bed was small with only one bedside reading light. The towel had a sour smell. Only the sofa was comfortable, the other seat was not comfortable at all.
- Uk (10/5): Exceptional - Amazin 100% just nedd the broadbad to be perfect. Ive location The river
- Blodwell (8/5): Very good - Close to all amenities, good size as expected. A self-contained flat has everything you need.
- Mark (10/5): would recommend very highly - all the things that they went out of there way to provide we could only stay one night wry hig
- Jangir (1/5): thorough cleaning new sofa bed as current one has bed bugs of some sort - it was close to work the sofa bed. 1st 2 night slept there and work up with bites on my back. not impressed.
- Roy.g (8/5): Good place for family and solo traveller - Location. Clean. Most basics were provided enough for your stay and in working order, but few needs replacing eg kettle, microwave, iron, iron board. Instructions were clear. Don't mind staying back again unless i find a better deal elsewhere, at least with the Internet. No internet (this was mentioned in the description, but this is something you don't expect), no spare bin bag for 3 weeks stay, no kitchen tissues. The bed was a bit small but ok.
- David (8/5): Very good - Location was excellent. Parking never an issue.
- Paul (2/5): Riverside is an overstatement and used to overprice the property - it was a quaint little property, nice bathroom and locked entrance in hallway the advert wasn’t clear if there was free WiFi. on arrival I contacted the property asking where it was. they replied almost instantly with what I would describe as a defensive response ultimately stating it was in the advert when I booked it therefor basically is was my problem as not all apartment offer free WiFi. I searched through the advert which I still had trouble finding this but only when you select policy (the last link) it does state it in there. I did reply explaining that it clearly stated in my booking that I had a 7 year old which in this day in age would be highly likely that i would need WiFi and that after some time looking at the advert finally came across the section stating there is no WiFi and that it wasn’t very clear at the booking stage. The property never responded after this. i then put a complaint to Booking.com which they are taking it up with the property.
there were other complaints that I highlighted in regards to a stench in the property that was being masked by all the window ajar in the property on arrival. although I could put up with it my 7 year old kept complaining about it. there was a wet bed set “airing” on a clothes horse in the bedroom cupboard and the ice compartment was frozen over leaving no space for storage.
overall I would not recommend this property at this price. It seems like they are using the river view as a sale point but there are much better accommodations for same price and comes with WiFi in the area.
- Beth (9/5): A great little apartment in a fantastic area - This property was exactly what we needed, especially as we didn't have a lot of time to find somewhere to stay before the date. It was close to town which has all the shops you require but also in a quiet location with a park just across the road which was an added bonus. Not something i didn't like per se but a small recommendation - it would be great if the curtains in the living room where darker or black out as we did end up using the sofa bed and it didn't get very dark. The only other thing (and this could just be me) is i didn't realise that the hot water needed to be turned on near the boiler so a little note (like with the oven) would have been really helpful and would have saved me calling my mum for help haha
- Lisa (8/5): Lovely place - Clean place to stay for couple of day. Great view of river and bridge is bonnie light up at night. River view right next to cathedral. 2 things would say that was bed was the bed could of be more comfortable. Also toilet maybe needs fix noticed the water still running long after flush. Also small park for kids. I would stay again.
- Craig (6/5): Over priced. - I arrived late at night in the dark and had some trouble finding the apartment.
It’s basic and would better with less beds as it quite small. It was a very cold evening but it heated up very nice and it’s a good shower in the bathroom.
I’ve stayed in lots of apartments in Edinburgh and Aberdeen for lees money but of a better standard.
