Guest Reviews
- Caitlin (10/5): Great holiday accommodation for a family skiing trip! - Great location - close to ski slopes/groceries/restaurants.
Quiet and very beautiful - snow piled up outside porch.
Drying room.
Off street parking.
Easy to access and drive to.
Lots of room for us to spend the week with our two boys - whilst also having our own space. Two separate levels, with 2 bathrooms and 2 bedrooms and downstairs living space separate to bedrooms. Absolutely wonderful property. There was nothing to complain about.
- andrew (7/5): Rustic but cute - Great location, cozy and cute lodge, helpful owner. Bathroom facilities average, bed on floor uncomfortable. Difficult to maintain good temperature across different levels, i.e cold on bottom level, good on middle level, too hot on top level.
- Toy (10/5): - It was a beautiful lodge and very well equipped, clean and beds were super comfortable. Location was good and the host was very helpful and kind and helped us with our check out request which was greatly appreciated.
- Sarah (5/5): Average - The location was great and Oga was very responsive to answering questions. It was clean and comfortable. It was so expensive for what it was. When booking it was very misleading that we were
staying in the main part of the lodge, which would have been more spacious. It was a tiny little house and very expensive for the price we paid. We have stayed in Hakuba before and paid a similar price for a much bigger space.
- Kiri (10/5): Great place for family ski holiday. - Spacious warm property and well equipped for our stay. Only an 11 minute walk ( in ski boots ) to the free ski field buses in Hakuba valley or the cafes/ restaurants in nearby Echoland. Beds very comfortable, kitchen was perfect for the family chef. Great having two bathrooms and also two storeys means we weren’t tripping over each other. Host very communicative.
- Ben (9/5): -
- Sancha (10/5): 100/10 - We recently stayed at Beaver Lodge and I can't express enough how incredible the host (Oga Asahi) was during our stay. First our luggage was delayed, and the he contacted the shipping company, coordinated the pickup and brought our luggage to us that evening.
I then unfortunately, broke my back skiing, and the host went above and beyond to assist us in every possible way.
We can't thank Oga enough for his exceptional hospitality and genuine care. I highly recommend this to anyone traveling to Hakuba. It’s in a great area, super clean and very warm. The level of service and compassion is truly unmatched. Broke my back and had to leave :(
- Anthony (8/5): Was good close to shops, restaurants, bus stop .fist stop with the bus so guaranteed too get on ,on those busy days. - Close to most things Pillows and you could hear neighbors easily through walls
- Howard (8/5): Very good - The owner went well out of his way to make our visit successful
- Savanna (10/5): Loved this place, highly reccomend! - This place had everything we could have possibly needed! The living area was spacious and inviting, the kitchen was well-equipped, and there was a drying room perfect for our wet ski gear. The beds were incredibly comfortable, ensuring we had a restful stay. What truly made the experience unforgettable, though, was our host, Oga. He went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. On the day we were leaving, after two feet of snow, we had trouble getting a taxi, and Oga kindly drove us to the bus stop when he saw we were in a bind. I can’t recommend this place enough – we would definitely stay here again! A bit out of town but close enough to walk to
Echoland or Happo.
- James (10/5): Exceptional - Home from home with all the home comforts.
Good sized room
Comfortable beds
Excellent kitchen and washing facilities Only criticism is that both downstairs and in the bedrooms more coat racks would be good plus some drawers in the bedrooms.
- Peter (9/5): Superb -
- Lenka (8/5): We would stay again, clean and convenient with a helpful host. - The host was amazing, he picked us up and dropped us off when we arrived and left Beaver Lodge which was super helpful. He txt back pretty much straight away and we never had any communication issues.
The actual lodge was good, very warm, easy to heat up and stay hot all night across both floors. Bonus was 2 bathrooms, and a full kitchen with dishwasher toaster cooking utensils fridge etc
Had a washer/dryer, which I did two loads of washing before we left and all dried overnight inside.
It was clean and tidy inside, no issues there. There is also a ski room fully heated which dried the ski boots overnight with heaps of room for everyone’s stuff.
Walking to the restaurants/Main Street was 5-10min walk felt super short as we found a shortcut via a back street which was useful eating out and using the rental shop etc.
Ski shuttle also very close, 5-10min walk via back streets so not busy with cars going past.
The Big Supermarket is about 15-20min walk which was ok, we took backpacks to carry our groceries back and it was fine, even with our two kids.
Only slight issue is the drummy front deck as you can hear people in the other two rooms coming and going, but we were lucky as there was no one roudy and super late, so we never got woken up etc, most night people were back by 9pm so there was minimal noise.
We had two kids 8 & 11 years old and we would stay again, it was convenient location (at first it seems very out of the way, but once we got the hang of the shortcuts it was perfect for us all), and the owner/Oga was very helpful/nice. We pushed two of the single beds together to make a joint sleeping arrangement, as both the bedrooms have single beds against opposite walls, which was good for the kids, but not for the adults.
- Scott (9/5): Awesome experience, wish Hakuba had better taxi/uber service but Oga went out of his way to personally transport us - Nice, tidy, cosy & warm chalet.
- Malcolm (8/5): Very good -
- Kiara (10/5): Exceptional - my friends and i were lucky enough to get the bever cabin when booking, and it didn’t disappoint! the small cabin fit all 4 of us nicely, along with our massive bags that we brought for our trip. there was a full sized kitchen which we were able to cook breakfast in every morning, and walking distance to shops and the main street of hakuba. the shuttles are very close as well, making the walk to and from the shuttle station with all of our ski gear, very easy. the owner was extremely friendly and very helpful, offering to pick and drop us off from the bus station we arrived at to get to hakuba. there was even cute little lights on the outside of our cabin which made the atmosphere so much nicer!
i would definitely recommend staying here if you can, we stayed in the winter and it was perfect. we loved our stay.
- Edmund (8/5): Very good -
- Lay (10/5): Safe , spotless , well- located and equipped . Just like home with super responsive and helpful host! - Beaver Lodge is located very conveniently and is about 10 mins drive from Goryu and Imori slopes where we skied. There are very good restaurants and cafes within 5 minutes from the lodge by driving. The nearest Supermarket, Big Hakuba is also 10 mins away by driving.
We stayed in a 2 bedroom unit and we love the cleanliness, organization and clear functionality of cooking and washing amenities in the apartment. Everything was easy to understand and instructions given to us were very clear.
What stands out in our stay was meeting Beaver’s owner, Mr Asahi Olga. Oga San attended to our needs and request for help so very promptly and treated us like his friends. From coming in every now and then to plough and move the snow so that we could drive in and out of the lodge, to helping us make sure the heater was functional after a power outage in the village, to driving us and helping us send our luggages to Tokyo because he was worried that the courier company staff could not speak English and we cannot speak Japanese. He was so prompt in responding and attending to our needs.
When I got into a car accident and called Oga San for help, he arrived at the accident site in 10 mins, and helped me with the police reporting and called the insurance company to make arrangements for towage and further reports. He goes out of his way to help, just like a friend.
Beaver Lodge is run by an owner with a huge heart. We are very blessed lo have stayed here and met Oga San. We very highly endorse and recommend Braver Lodge.
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Macmaster (6/5): Pleasant -
- Samie (10/5): The Beaver is a beautiful place to stay, it’s within walking distance of everything. - It was very central to town for restaurants and the bus to get to the ski fields.
It was also very spacious and the heater worked amazing. No fans for circulation of air upstairs for when it got a bit stuffy.
- Mick (8/5): Very good -
- Alycia (9/5): Superb -
- Brocklehurst (7/5): It was very nice & I would happily stay again. - The spatular was hard to find.
- Antonio (8/5): Very good - The service is excellent and very responsive. Location is excellent. There could have been more shelfing spaces and bowls for noodles.
- Trang (8/5): Great stay. Cozy little place and great host - Great location! Close to all ski resorts, restaurants, supermarkets None
- Benedict (9/5): Would definitely stay here again. Great location, very clean and updated, amazing cust support. - Excellent service and the lodge was clean, updated, and comfortable. Falling rain was quite noticeable in terms of noise in one of the rooms.
- Sandy (7/5): Good - The owner was very helpful + sweet! Very responsive before & during the trip. Also gave us some cakes as he saw us taking wedding photos! The place was much smaller than it looked in the pictures. The cabin didn't come with "bedrooms" but lofts. The space was way too small for four adults.
We weren't particularly satisfied with the value for money either. The rest of us stayed at a two-bedroom house at the same property during the same time. The price was the same but the two-bedroom house was much larger and more comfortable.
- Haruka (10/5): Exceptional -
