Guest Reviews
- Emma (10/5): Romantic getaway - It was very romantic, and the cabin had all that we needed to enjoy our stay. My husband also really loved the cabin it was very beautiful. I'm glad we booked 2 nights as it was so lovely there. Definitely recommend going. You won't be sorry👌 Every think was perfect

- Jane (8/5): Nice place, 10 minute walk to town - Cute cottage Bed on wheels on a timber floor doesn’t work

- Linkenbagh (9/5): Love it! - My husband and I loved it so much, we didn't want to leave. Simple yet romantic, peaceful cabin. My husband usually chooses our accommodation but I chose this time and he was impressed with my choice. We will definitely stay here again if we head back this way. Thanks guys. Not enough lighting along the stairs heading up to the cabin made returning at night a little difficult but it was okay. Also no WiFi but it didn't bother us as we had plenty of reception to use our own data.
- Shiv (10/5): - The cabins were stunning, such a lovely and green location outside, bed was comfy, everything was very clean and worked well. Our only regret is not booking a longer stay! We’ll be back!
- Glenn (10/5): Fantastic just amazing location - Beautiful location Nothing
- Bärbel (8/5): -
- Nicholas (10/5): - Great location, cosy/comfy cabin, big bath, great AC
Very nice spot Hot plate on the BBQ was very dirty. But that's a tiny gripe
- Brent (10/5): Luxe and private - Bespoke cabin was very cool and had everything required for a longer stay. Staff very helpful when I left personal belongings behind 🙄 Certainly not the most budget-friendly option, but the price is probs a reflection of what guests can expect in terms of accommodation, atmosphere, privacy, etc.
- Peter (8/5): Generally, very good, intimate and comfortable accommodation in a beautiful, peaceful setting. - the location was excellent - although a tiny bit too close to the adjoining cabin. the gravel paved access stairs from the carparking to the cabin, through the gardens need a little maintenance. they felt a little 'dangerous'
- Diane (1/5): Don’t stay here - The chalets were cute There was nobody to check us in, after at least 8 phone calls we finally spoke to Mitch who’s number was on the door, he was as holidaying in Tasmania and couldn’t give any reason, we were supposed to have received an email with instructions which never came, finally after approximately 1 -2 hours we got hold of someone on the phone who gave us a code to get in, also there is nothing mentioned about having to climb up high on loose gravel and climb lots of stairs to access the cabins
- Meg (9/5): -
- Massage (10/5): Excellent place great atmosphere - We loved everything. Fantastic place and atmosphere even when the day was cloudy. Highly recommended Maybe it was me, from the long travel time and being tired, but I was a bit confused when I arrived and there was no clear sign saying “ call this number to get your cabin’s number “ 🤪🤪🤪
- Karen (9/5): Comfortable and clean in a lovely setting - Very comfortable cabin in a lovely setting. The bed was very comfortable. Good communication with the staff regarding check-in. Close to town. The door knob on cabin 2 was very loose and needs repair before it totally comes off. The bathroom was basic but had everything we needed.

- Kirsten (9/5): - Such a beautiful and peaceful cabin.
- Janine (10/5): -
- Jacqueline (6/5): Not as peaceful as hoped. - Beautiful timber cabin. Lovely palms around cabins. Bath was great. The pathway and stairs up to the cabin were challenging for 60+ or those with walking/back issues. Biggest disappointment was the lack of peace as the grounds people were mowing lawns/ chain saws from 8am first two days. Also crazy noisy neighbour swearing through the day with Tourette’s type behaviour. Not as remote as hoped. On the edge of suburb.
- Chris Emes (9/5): Great wooden chalet kind of clamping experience. Lovely walking into the town. - Palm fruit falling on roof on night. Noisy! Bathroom light bulbs gone.
- Michael (9/5): Beautiful location, very peaceful and comfortable -
- Nicole (10/5): - The room was absolutely lovely. The bath a lovely surprise. Wonderful.
- Marianne (10/5): Overall better than your average motel - It was a great unique cabin The hill climb
- Quinn (10/5): Great besides the bed - Neat The bed rolled and was on wheels
- Bernard (10/5): -
- Peter (10/5): - Remote quite

- Nada (10/5): Luxury cabin in a beautiful location. Wish we were staying more than 1 night. We will be back! - Luxury cabin, great location.
- Rebecca (6/5): - The location and The views. It is walking distance from the nearest town but it is also very quiet The bedroom would need some refurbishment and especially the bathroom . It was also very dark inside
- Matthew (9/5): Nice set up - Air conditioning put on our arrival, on a very hot day….
Bath tub
- barnes (10/5): - Well made beautifully appointed
Lovely peaceful setting
Wonderful
- maria (9/5): Relaxing. - The cabin stunning natural setting, and all the nice shops and boutiques at Bellingen. The shower cubicle. The curtail kept sticking on our body, and its quite small.
- John (10/5): Blissful stay in well equipped cabin in beautiful setting on the edge of a nice town, surrounded by exotic bird life, fl - Everything. It was perfect. Everything about it. Not a thing
- Marc (10/5): Magnificent - Incredibly unique and beautifully located
- Rohana Tamar (10/5): Perfect would recommend and return - It is in such a beautiful setting very peaceful and private, so well thought out inside and out. Perfect for a couple of nights away to relax and be with nature. Inside the facilities were so well thought out everything is catered for. Outside you can cook or sit and relax in the most beautiful setting at all times of the day. It is only a short walk into town for coffee shopping too. There are walks to do around the area very easy to get too or on the grounds if the property too. There is nothing not to like here
- Bridgette (10/5): -
- Eleni (10/5): Fabulous - The property was quiet. It was walking distance from the town. Everything was clean and tidy. No complaints at all I liked everything
- Cecile (9/5): - Self check in - able to enter ~1 hour early on request If you need a lobby/reception there is nobody at this venue, it is self contained with a keybox.
- O'Connor (9/5): - Very relaxing great location
- Jenny (6/5): Bed was comfortable and sitting on the veranda listening to the birds was wonderful. - Location in the forest was very peaceful. The timber cabin was quaint, but badly in need of maintenance.
We sprayed the cabin for mosquitoes before retiring to bed only to find bull ants coming out from every crevice and crack in the bathroom walls and flooring.
Arriving in the rain it was difficult and quite dangerous to manoeuvre the many pebbled steps up to the cabin.
For the nightly fee we were most disappointed in the limited amenities compared to other accommodations we have stayed in. Just a suggestion, but perhaps a small treat from one of Bellingen’s little stores, e.g. a small jam for guests would go down very well and also advertise for the business.
We did however enjoy the pod coffee machine and the bed was comfortable. It was also good to have Netflix.
- Walsh (8/5): -
- Shane (7/5): Lovely location, room could have been better - The grounds and location were terrific The room wasn’t as expected for the price
- Jenny (8/5): Comfortable stay - Loved the location and the peacefulness.
Had everything we needed
Lovely to have a deck
Many steps to get to cabin . If you’re not 100% mobile this is not for you . Bull ants in bathroom. Got bitten. Hole in shower . Expensive
- Michael (9/5): -
- Jen (10/5): Loved our stay, location was beautiful and quiet. Anniversary with my husband, easy walk into Bellingen for dinner. Woul - Loved our stay, location was beautiful and quiet. Accommodation was great and very clean and tidy.
- Margaret (8/5): Gorgeous rainforest location within a few minutes from the town. - Beautiful, peaceful location Nothing important
- Allison (10/5): Great overnight stay on our way to the Hunter valley, all facilities were great. Loved the bath and 4 poster bed. - Great facilities and everything you’d need for your stay in the lodge. Nothing
- Rachel (10/5): - Superb rooms Only got key code by email after I had managed to enter the property by ringing the manager
- Jason (10/5): Tranquil relaxing vibe, would definitely stay here again - Bath, atmosphere was tranquil and relaxing vibes
- Lorraine (8/5): Pleasant and relaxing stay in lush surrounds in cosy cabin style accomodation. - Relaxed vibe, big verandah, lush surrounds, walking to town, facilities - microwave, air con, fans, internet. Needs a decent knife for cutting the bread we purchased at the local market.
Taps all dripped during the night.
- Bart (8/5): Great place to use as base for visiting the area’s beautiful parks and waterfalls - Great location. Close to town but still far enough away Some additional kitchen utensils may have been useful, such as microwaveable containers and a salad bowl
- Jennifer (10/5): Beautiful peaceful cabin - thank you - Beautiful peaceful location and lovely cabin. Small shower.
- kerry (9/5): Cosy log cabin surrounded by forest and perfect for a couple - Pretty location for a log cabin surrounded by trees and and easy walk into beautiful Belligen.
- Tracey (8/5): - Great location and the retreat was very quiet and romantic.
- DAVID (4/5): Did not live up to what was implied in advertising - Lack of kitchen ware and cutlery. Cabin very cold, difficult to heat and not insulated. Barbecue did not work properly. Shower was good
- Chloe (10/5): Tranquil, natural beautiful stay in the tree tops of a pocket of rainforest - Beautiful landscaping, perfect swing to lie on outside whilst having a tea in the morning. Amazing standalone bath and has all the basic amenities (toaster, microwave, kettle, coffee machine) Nothing to do with the property itself - but beware of some leeches that come with the rainforest territory! The bed isn’t the most comfortable but will definitely do for a night or so.
- Gordon (10/5): -
- Penelope (10/5): Idyllic spot to take time out. - The cabin was perfect. It was so well appointed and sits within an idyllic garden setting which makes you feel like you have stepped into a luxury resort. We were on a business trip and Koompartoo Retreat was a lovely surprise. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting the picturesque town of Belligen and the retreat made it a highlight of our trip. Nothing
- Lynn (7/5): Good -
- Moira (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lisa (9/5): Perfectly relaxing - Cosy homely and warm
- Danielle (10/5): A Beautiful Cabin - The cabin was beautiful, with lots of wonderful touches of luxury set in a stunning garden. The hosts were super helpful and welcoming. We would stay there again in a heartbeat. Nothing.
- Lisa (9/5): Warm and cosy - Quiet peaceful
- Vicki (7/5): Good -
- Emma (9/5): Superb -
- Rashne (8/5): Very good -
- Kimberley (9/5): Overall , excellent and cosy and would definitely recommend to our friends - For a winter getaway it was cosy . I was expecting an open fireplace not an electric fire.
- Sharon (10/5): Delicious luxurious bliss - Everything from the sun in the face on the verandah in the morning to the so so comfortable bed. The bath was sensational and basically the setting sublime. Sadly we had just one night in this paradise. Quiet luxurious heavenly place. The wood detail is amazing. The bathrobes - I like mine cotton - natural fibres. Maybe some extra towels as well enjoyed the bath so between showering before the bath, then bath…
- Bonny (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hannah (9/5): Superb -
- Tom (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kim (8/5): a night's escape in a cabin - At first I was sad that the fire was electric but as it was cold and wet, it ended up being great. We didn't have to do the hard work in keeping a fire lit. Nice comfy bed and room.
Great it had coffee pods and even bath salts. Loved the big bath in the room to relax. It needed some foot stools for the lounge to be comfy for 2 to relax with feet up otherwise I think it was a great little place to escape.
- James (10/5): Peaceful setting. - Comfortable, beautifully decorated cabin thats surrounded in lush green forest. Absolute beautiful retreat.
- Paula (4/5): Not as nice as we had hoped - Cosy and quiet. Accessibility - there are many steps up a steep hill from the car park. The solar pathway/garden lights were not working. The torch supplied did not work. The mosquito candle was spent. There was no stove top. No teaspoons. Very limited amount /range of crockery. Light switches/pull cords were hard to find. Battery was flat in the remote to light the heater.
- Gary (10/5): Exceptional - Beautifully presented and comfortable space with all amenities we could think of. For a cabin in the "wildèness" the level of finish is superb and great touches, which show a lot of thought has gone into preparing the cabin. The Door banged closed if let go, such a minor thing but caught us every time
- Matthew (8/5): Very good -
- John (10/5): A special & tranquil place to relax when exploring Waterfall Way. - Beautiful gardens, private, and everything we needed. It was an easy 10 minute walk to shops & restaurants. Nothing.
- Evelyn (10/5): Perfect! - We loved everything about our stay. The cabin is gorgeous. Photos definitely speak for themselves. For anyone with mobility issues, it is a walk up to the cabins. Gravel path then stairs.
- Patricia (7/5): Unfortunately we had to forfeit one night to get home for the cyclone. -
- Vicki (10/5): Exceptional - The cottage has loads of character and is set in a rainforest garden. Great location. A perfect Bellingen experience.
- Annette (9/5): Fabulous - Loved our stay. Very quiet secluded cabin with everything you need and full of character. Great aircon. Very comfortable bed with fab bed linen. Lovely private veranda to sit on to listen to and watch the birds. Microwave, fridge, toaster, kettle, coffee machine and bar bq.
Approx 15 mins walk into Bellingen where there are restaurants to choose from and a supermarket.
Easy to drive to Dorrigo National park which was the reason for our stay. Nothing it was all fab. Would love to stay again.
