• Hilary (8/5): - Whilst this is not a modern Hotel it is clean the staff are fantasic welcoming and warm. Nice bar food available till 8.45pm bar staff also very friendly. Breakfast freshly made and contential available porridge was really nice. Service propmt and friendly. My room was on the ground floor and wirh the exception of the heavy curtains there was no privacy screen blinds or nets on the window. The Hotel is slightly out dated.

• peter (10/5): - The Mourne Country Hotel is a great place to stay and the breakfast and food offering are very good. The location on the edge of Newry is idéal for guests who have their car and there is ample parking. For guests who are using public transport, an hourly bus service (338a) provides a connection to and from Newry bus Centre at the stop outside the hotel entrance.

• Hogan (10/5): Welcoming as always. Staff are exceptional and food is so good. Great choice menu. - Everything. We stay at the mourne country hotel at least 3 times a year. We love staying. You can hear traffic especially the scramblers and boy racers in the middle of the night but that has absolutely nothing to do with the hotel or didn’t put a damper on us staying. We will be back in the summer.
• Evan (10/5): A perfect location for a short stay with excellent customer service - Staff were extremely friendly and couldn't have been more helpful, even as far as the gentlemen on the desk printed out some of my work notes without a second of hesitation. Bar staff insisted on bringing my drink to the table even though it was 20 feet away! Customer service is clearly a priority here and it was well received. The complimentary tea and water in the room was a nice touch, when other hotels are moving away from this. The hotel was very quiet, and a perfect stop for me on route from work.

Bedroom and en-suites could do with an update and better quality towels would be welcome. Shower pressure needs to be improved.

• peter (10/5): - This is a lovely hotel with dedicated, welcoming and friendly staff. It is located on the outskirts of Newry, a short taxi ride from the City Centre (fare £5 - 6). The rooms are spacious, well maintained and spotlessly clean. The quiet location and comfortable beds make for a good night’s sleep. A great place to stay in a nice part of Ireland.

• Grant (5/5): Nice enough hotel but if you’re a non-smoker be weary. - The staff were lovely and welcoming and some had clearly been there a long time and locals could have a laugh with them. Made me feel comfortable in the restaurant. The bottom floor has a corridor to the rooms which has some fire doors half way down. I was given a “non smoking” room.. I didn’t even know smoking rooms were still a thing in 2026. Through the night I woke and could smell cigarette smoke coming through my bathroom vent but also when opening my hotel door the corridor reeked of stale cigarettes. Once I went through the fire doors halfway down the corridor, it smelled fine. I assume my room (115) was in the smoking section of the hotel but not suitably ventilated away from the smokers. For this reason, I will never go back. Food was nice enough. Guinness glasses could do with updating, I had one from 2008 so the Guinness wasn’t the greatest.

Location good and place inside to store our bikes- great Breakfast! Something healthier, maybe natural yogurt and unsweetened cereal Nowhere to hang towels when in use
