- Ken Vormwald (9/5): Really enjoyed our stay at Valhalla - From check in to check out our stay at the Valhalla Resort Hotel was wonderful. The friendliness of virtually the entire staff was an excellent, very warm, friendly and always there for whatever we needed. Our room was a comfortable king suite with a balcony that featured a beautiful view of the mountains. The huge shower was magnificent with luxurious robes and slippers made for a nice night to sit by the fireplace and sip a glass of wine. Beds are comfortable, the sheets were soft, the HVAC was able to cool the room down quickly at night for sleeping. The hotel itself and our room was very quiet. We loved the location being a bit removed from the tourist traffic and commotion in town. We spent some time lounging around poolside while enjoying the relaxing mountain views. We ate dinner and a breakfast at the Caledonia Room and visited the sky bar to watch a sunset in the evening while sipping a cocktail. Can't think of too much that we didn't like. If I had to mention anything it would be the lack of an accessible ice machine - we had to phone to the front desk and have someone bring us an ice bucket.

The staff was friendly and treated us like old friends. The restaurant was beautiful, food and service were excellent. The water pressure in the shower was a little low. Every thing else was perfect.

Our dinner was so delicious; very expensive, but worth it. Our ONLY complaint is we ordered room service breakfast and it was disgusting. Room service breakfast. What a disappointment!! The food was cold, the juice was full of pulp and the sausage gravy was all sage! It made me and my husband sick. We enjoyed our dinner the night before but our "breakfast in bed" was a horrible experience.

We had dinner at the restaurant with delicious food. Hope to return again one day and maybe next time we can try the spa. Been to this area many times so not discussing Helen...though you should know that there are MUSTS such as Betty's, Sweetwater for your coffee. Liked Valhalla and the only 'complaint' is the site here shows... Free parking Free High Speed Internet (WiFi) Fitness Center with Gym / Workout Room Pool Free breakfast and there is no free breakfast which I admit is a factor. I don't do breakfast but the wife does. Otherwise rooms were very nice, very accommodating as we needed a ADA room and was setup for that. Everything clean and would recommend Valhalla

At both food venues, staff was courteous but there was not enough staff/servers for the guests there. I had requested a room with a nice view not immediately next to the elevator. I was provided a room with a good view (but part of it overlooked a large roof area), immediately next to the elevator and just above the A/C for the entire hotel, which is (from time to time) quite loud.

- beachman65 (4/5): Not worth the money and bad service, not what you would expect from a high end resort. - The location is nice, we stayed in a bungalow and paid extra to do so. The bungalow is nice but nothing exceptional. The service is terrible. you have to ask to have service by calling each day. Then they did showed up late after we called a second time after being out past the service times. The second time we asked they did not show up at all. They had an excuse each time of coarse. It is not worth the money and it is not that special of a place. Save your money and stay at a comfort suites. You'll get daily services without asking for it for half the price and the rooms will be just as nice. I could go on about other items that where not great but don't want to bore you. Just don't waste your money it isn't worth it.

- ericaaM9445TO (2/5): Certainly a disappointed - ⭐☆☆☆☆ Our family visited Valhalla Sky Top in Helen, Georgia to begin our Christmas Eve celebration. While dining in the restaurant with friends and speaking loudly himself, the owner approached our table and asked my children to be quiet. Given that this was a public dining area open to families and holiday guests, this expectation was unreasonable. If the owner wanted a quieter or more private environment for his gathering, that should have been arranged in a private suite or by closing the lounge to customers. Instead, the request was placed on paying guests who were simply celebrating the holiday together. The interaction made our family feel uncomfortable and unwelcome and overshadowed what was meant to be a special evening. Based on this experience, I would not return and would advise families to consider this before visiting

The friendliness of Jan at the front desk to the valet personnel it was an excellent first impression and a lasting one that we will want to come back. Our room was comfortable and hugh shower was magnificent with luxurious robes and slippers makes a nice night to sit by the fireplace and sip a glass of wine. Beds are comfortable and rooms were quiet. Loved this place and the wonderful charm and personal touches it holds. We felt so cared for and pampered throughout our stay. Visited the sky bar and loved watching the sun go down in the evening sipping a cocktail.

We loved having dinner at the restaurant overlooking the mountains, with our nightcap at the rooftop bar. Golf was a challenge but an absolutely gorgeous course! This property is very conveniently located to Helen and many hiking trails, vineyards, and great food!

- Mark (10/5): - My wife and I booked a room at Valhalla Resort for three nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We arrived shortly after check-in time, 4:15 p.m. We were immediately greeted by a gentleman who helped us with our luggage. When we walked inside to register, I was taken by the beautiful interior of the lobby area and the restaurant which is visible when you enter. We were offered a complimentary glass of champagne then we went to our room on the 2nd floor which was also was beautifully decorated. There was a sitting area with fireplace, a king-size bed and very large bathroom with a double vanity and large walk-in shower equipped with a rainfall shower head and many additional amenities! Since we arrived late in the day, dinner was on our minds. Not wanting to get back in the car, we went upstairs to the Sky Bar—an intimate room with a contemporary decor. We ate outside on the terrace and enjoyed the mountain view. We both ordered the fried chicken sandwich with pimento cheese, fries and soft drinks. The food was delicious! And the service was spot on. After dinner we took a stroll around the gorgeous grounds near the golf course and saw some wildlife. The pool area also offers a wonderful place to unwind and enjoy a peaceful experience. Throughout our stay the staff was friendly, personable and eager to assist with any needs we had. Additionally, we enjoyed breakfast in the Caledonia Restaurant and everything was cooked and served with perfection.

I had paid for a deluxe king suite. They asked if I needed an accessible room, I told them I didn’t. When we arrived, we had been booked in an ADA room. The reception then changed it, stating to my new wife that she was “upgrading us, complimentary “. The room we were given was exactly what I paid for. Then she proceeded to state that there was champagne and cake and a gift in our room, and breakfast would be delivered, all “complimentary “. These were all things I paid for!! Don’t take credit for things I paid for, and don’t tell my wife you’re upgrading us then give us exactly what I paid for. It took away from the experience and had her questioning what room I had originally booked. Overall, not worth the cost or the time to travel to.

- nmata (6/5): One night stay in Helen - I hadn’t been to Helen in 20 years and was excited to book something unique. The hotel’s name and Viking theme caught my eye, and although the $500/night rate with the tax was steep, we decided to go for it. Check-in was a great experience—clear directions, gated entry, valet, champagne on arrival, and a personalized welcome envelope. Very polished. Our room on the 4th floor was clean and comfortable, but lacked the Viking charm I expected. It felt more like a typical hotel room. The shower head was broken and sprayed everywhere which didn't help since it was an open shower with no curtain and a bathroom lightbulb was out—surprising for the price point. That said, the food at the bar was very good, and the pool area was a highlight. Poolside service was top-notch—friendly and attentive. Overall, a nice stay with some luxurious touches, but for the price, I was hoping for a more immersive theme and fewer maintenance issues.

- traveler6Atlanta (4/5): No Reason to Visit Hotel or Nearby Town of Helen - I stayed two nights at Valhalla Resort in July, 2025. The hotel is far from being a resort. The room prices are extremely high. Their restaurant has good, albeit expensive meals. The rooms themselves are quite ordinary. The staff were very friendly. The nearby town of Helen offers exactly nothing save for tacky shops and poor restaurants. All in all, there is really no reason to visit Valhalla Resort.

- reddobie (10/5): - Our stay at the Resort with our dog. We found everyone to be friendly and very helpful. We were able to take our dog with us everywhere. We did go to the Sky Bar, and it had a nice view, but the outside was kind of tight, and not conducive to having a dog out there, but for anyone else it would be fine. Caledonia Restaurant was fantastic...The food was great, lot of thought for the dishes, and breakfast as well...We could bring our dog in there also...We sat in the back, where it was all windows, so nice...overlooks the pool, we sat at the farthest table away, but our dog is so well behaved I doubt some would have even known he was there...There were hardly anyone staying when we went...kind of nice...lol. Its a long winding road to the top where the resort is, making for some lovely views once at the resort. Our King Suite room was very pretty, it had a small outdoor area to sit, it has its own gate, so your dog can't get out. It was very convenient to take our dog out to go to the bathroom, on a leash because the bigger fencing around that part of the property is open....as far as the room, it was really nice, had a nice small sofa, TV..and another TV in the bedroom area. All in one big space...One thing, the refrigerator is actually a minibar fridge filled with stuff for purchase. We just pushed stuff around to put our own drinks etc in it. No microwave. The resort area is mostly vertical, in that it is built into a hillside. In back of the hotel is a pool, looked nice we didn't use it, and we were told our dog could go there too. Beyond that area is a huge golf course....It was so picturesque and beautiful, hills, trees, that you really couldn't even tell it was a golf course. We walked our dog on the Cart path, its great for walking, exercising your dog. Staff said even if golfers are golfing, we could walk on the cart path. Great stay. Thankyou to Steven, Judy, Kathy, and Jannine for being so helpful and nice, and full of great information about the area. We went to Tallulah Gorge, Deliverance was filmed there. Its mostly vertical walking, well worth the view of the Gorge. We also went to Ana Ruby Falls, two beautiful waterfalls, some steep walking but doable. Overall such an outstanding and lovely stay with our dog!!

From the moment we arrived, the experience was exceptional. The valet and concierge, Jan, welcomed us warmly with glasses of champagne, while our luggage was swiftly taken to our room. Our spacious room featured a cozy fireplace, two TVs, a balcony with stunning views, and a well-stocked mini bar, making it easy to settle in for our five-night stay. The Sky Bar, with its breathtaking Blue Ridge Mountain vistas, was a highlight. Bartenders Matt and Loli greeted us with genuine hospitality, enhancing the picturesque setting. The staff's friendliness was consistent throughout our stay. Judy, the daytime concierge, was outstanding, and valet Steve suggested renting the on-site townhomes for future visits with family or friends. On Father’s Day, we enjoyed a round of golf at the Valhalla Golf Club, a scenic and challenging public course. Lunch at the Caledonia Dining Room was delightful, where owners Jerry Murdock and Gayle Stewart Murdock, accompanied by their charming standard poodles, made us feel like family. They even encouraged us to bring our border collie on our next visit. The General Manager’s professionalism added to the seamless experience. Valhalla Resort Hotel masterfully blends luxury, Scottish heritage, and Southern hospitality, all while being close to Helen for day trips.

So much so that I ordered it three times during my stay! Our waitress Elice was pleasant during dinner. We also ordered room service which came in time every time and hot ! Great menu and quality food. Views from sky bar were incredible and the pool was a fun place to spend the afternoon. Not a far distance from the tourist attraction spots in town. This was a perfect way to celebrate our engagement! Thank you to everyone at Valhalla for making this weekend one to remember!
