- Georgina (8/5): - Lovely room and very comfortable bed. Liked the touch of the milk in a thermos to keep it cool. No separate shower which is not a huge problem but hand held shower in bath was not very good when it came to washing hair. The lock on the door to the room didn't work properly/was broken. Even though we told several people about this there did not appear to be any effort to try and fix it.
- Wendy (10/5): - Delightful quiet haven
- Corrianne (10/5): 5 stars, 10 hearts - Het is niet alleen een mooie locatie maar ook een erg leuke ervaring!
- Terri (8/5): Brilliant pub, lots of character & great walks - Brilliant location, beautiful pub Although its a very old pub, the lighting could be better - very dark inside

Felt extremely welcomed, all the staff were friendly and engaging. The food was great and exactly what you would expect and a bit more from good pub grub. Would recommend.
- Harriet (9/5): A lovely cosy place to eat and stay the night. - The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The room was very comfortable and nicely presented. It was warm and cosy and there are nice toilettries in the bathroom. The dinner and breakfast were excellent. We did not identify anything we did not like.
- Tania (10/5): I would stay again if I was in the area it was a clean lovely place to stay - We booked for my daughters wedding my husband booked in well before we could the lady was cleaning the room she was very pleasant and helpful when I came back to stay that night I was very impressed the bed was comfy the bathroom was so clean and lovely we didn’t book breakfast but we did have breakfast it was lovely service was incredible I would highly recommend this a warm friendly cosy place to stay The only thing that they need to look at is the milk in the room for tea & coffee ours was off and made my husband poorly

Thanks for a lovely stay at The Compasses again.

- Hiroshi Shigemoto (8/5): - Excellent cottage for family including small kids and large numbers. Some atttractions like card games are there. We can feel animals and stars. Not much attraction around. Not really flexible in terms of breakfast time only for 9 to 10 am.
- Helen (10/5): A truly wonderful stay. Highly recommended. - Loved my stay.
The room was beautiful & spacious, with a wonderfully comfortable bed. Simple but very tastefully decorated.
The bath was a godsend, & the bath lotions & potions were lovely.
Even the tea & coffee tray was perfect. Home made cookies, fresh milk & large mugs.
I had dinner here, & ate outside under a tented cover, with a beautiful view watching the sun set. The food & wine was excellent.
Just wonderful. One TINY thing which could’ve been an issue if clientele were all sitting inside, or I’d wanted an early night, the room I had was directly over the bar and you can literally hear the conversations in there!
- Heather (10/5): The compasses Inn was amazing and very comfortable - The staff were amazing, Carlos was so helpful and went above and beyond for us. We were a group of 9 and he made sure our stay was fantastic. The milk in the room was warm and off. I suggested maybe giving the guests longline milk as we didn't have a fridge and I was told I could go into the village and buy some!
- Adam (10/5): Amazing picturesque stay! - Very nice place to stay, in a quiet location. Easy to check in and would highly recommend! Quite warm when we stayed but it's a very old place. So understandably no cooling equipment. Would be better if there were summer bedding.
The place is quite remote so could turn off a few people.
- Tom (10/5): Exceptional -
- Penelope (10/5): It's a great Inn in a pretty location close to lots of interesting places to visit. - We absolutely loved The Compasses. Friendly staff, delicious food. Lovely room full of character.
- Becky (9/5): A great break away in a lovely location - Characterful pub

- Nicola (10/5): Wonderful- wish we could have stayed longer - Gorgeous, clean, cute
- Heather (10/5): Fantastic for our weekend stay - Beautiful location and the breakfast was amazing
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Clare (10/5): Exceptional - The cottage is beautiful. There was tea and coffee and home made cookies. We were made to feel welcome by the owners and locals. The weekend we stayed, there was a bbq, music and plenty of cider. Breakfast was lovely and a great way to start the day. The cottage/pub is found down narrow country lanes and is easy to find with the help of Waze.
- Christine (10/5): A truly magical experience staying in such an old building in what felt like the middle of nowhere but wasn’t. - The age and history blew me away. I also fell in love with the location - it was magical!
- Ste (10/5): Exceptional -
- Melissa (8/5): Beautiful rooms and friendly staff! Great location for a wedding in nearby Ashley Wood Farm. - Room was spotlessly clean and really well laid out. Building is beautiful! Room facilities great and lovely shower.
Breakfast was delicious too! It is expensive, but the quality is very high!
- Liz (9/5): Excellent every time and great value. - Location, a beautiful rural hamlet. Modern furniture. Good bedding. Wonderful staff. Laid back atmosphere. Great food. A room fridge would be good. It would have been good to have the bedroom windows open on arrival, or a room fan for air circulation.
- Charlotte (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (10/5): Super - All good The fire alarm flashed and kept me awake at night
- Caroline (10/5): Charm in the Chase - Everything Nothing
- Margaret (10/5): A really comfortable night in beautiful surroundings - The bed and duvet, the bathroom, the staff and the food, in fact everything Nothing
- Alexandra (10/5): Exceptional -
- Claudia (10/5): Perfect! - Lovely location, lovely staff, lovely rooms and really tasty food! Everything was perfect, my only comment would be that the menu and drinks were a bit pricey given there isn’t somewhere else nearby to go easily, maybe some cheaper options available on the menu would be good. Will definitely be finding an excuse to go back though!
- Kathryn (9/5): Charming rural idyll - Charming pub which we’ve been to many times and have always thoroughly enjoyed and this time was no different. Amazing food and beautiful location, we would recommend! Pillows were a bit soft!
- Phil (10/5): Exceptional -
- Laura (9/5): Fabulous short stay for a local wedding; sad that we couldn’t stay for longer, highly recommend - Absolutely stunning location Location, building style, attentive staff
- Clare (10/5): A wonderful two days in a fabulous 14 th century inn with glorious food and a wonderful welcome - The crisp luxurious bedding, the scandi design, the welcome biscuits on arrival. The incredible rural location it was just stunning.
Best of all was the incredible food served at the Inn. The chef seriously knows what’s they are doing!!!! It was all fabulous.
- Chris (9/5): Superb -
- Lorraine (8/5): - Cute cottage, not for anyone mobility challenged. Very hot bedroom, didn't sleep much because of that (need lighter weight duvets), shame as otherwise lovely room & very quiet. Lovely to eat supper overlooking the field of sheep and lambs. Food was average. Pub chairs could be more comfy. Breakfast rather small (a full english was one mushroom, 1 small sausage, 1/2 tomato, scrambled egg & 2 very crispy bits of bacon. Had to request toast. Cold option was lovely but limited, juice, granola, yogurt & compote. Nice walks to be had from the door (we enjoyed the river walk through fields to a church, starting virtually opposite the pub).
- Michael (10/5): Our new 'Happy Place' - Relaxed and friendly welcome, lovely spacious room, excellent food and well kept guest beers. Nice touches, like fresh milk and home made cookies in the room and breakfast was also fabulous
- Leslie (10/5): Everything was exceptional, including the weather. - The breakfast and dinner we had were both fabulous. The room v clean with a v comfortable bed.
- Claire (9/5): Superb -
- Sarah (9/5): Superb -
- Andy (9/5): Rooms are modern and comfortable, the pub is a gem, and the food is superb - What a fantastic find. Real old traditional inn.
- Laurie (9/5): Superb -
- Short (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rebecca (10/5): 10/10 would recommend to anyone and everyone! - Couldn’t have asked for any better - this will tick every box if you’re looking for a charming, cosy and relaxing countryside getaway with excellent food and lovely staff. The rooms are so tastefully decorated and clean, the pub itself - located through a small door underneath the hotel - is beautiful and quaint. Surrounding countryside is gorgeous and had an amazing view of the stars at night.
- Monika (10/5): We will come back for sure. Our absolute recommendation to stay - An absolutely amazing place to be with very lovely people. Great food and drinks at the pub. —-
- Pippa (9/5): Super place to stay, will definitely be back! - Wow what a lovely quaint Inn in the countryside, loved the old traditional pub with more modern comfortable accommodation - super warm and cosy with lovely little touches to make it more homely. Super friendly staff and fabulous food. Nothing
- Ana (9/5): Beautiful countryside inn with comfortable and modern rooms - Beautiful and quaint pub but with modern room and bathroom. Really comfy and spacious. Amazing duvet and bed linen. Staff were lovely and accommodating. Fresh baked cookies everyday. Dog friendly. Lots of parking. Pub serves delicious food including breakfast. We could have used a screen or shower curtain on the bath to keep the bathroom drier.
- Sarah (9/5): Superb -
- Bruce (10/5): One of kind great food and service - Very clean. Don’t tell everyone how nice this little retreat is. We don’t want to tell everyone
- Semaj (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lois (10/5): Perfect spot for a night away with friends. - Such character, very comfortable and quaint room with super bed and home made cookies on arrival. Food was great and breakfast so delicious with a very personal service. Loved the setting and everything about the place. A car would be needed but we loved it. Was all fabulous!
- Stephen (9/5): We found the Compasses Inn a great experience, comfortable and welcoming. - Everywhere was comfortable and clean. Really warm welcome including home made biscuits. Good breakfast with generous attitude by staff.
The Inn / pub is authentic and has a great atmosphere. A shower in our room would have been better.
- Andrew (8/5): Very enjoyable overall. - Excellent food and drinks. Friendly and efficient service. Mattress too soft and room not sound proofed from bar noise.
- Susan (9/5): Wonderful dog friendly pub with warm comfortable rooms - Warm, comfortable, allows dogs. Pub downstairs is lovely and dinner/breakfast was delicious. Slightly difficult to find if arriving in the dark and in poor weather.
- Hannah (7/5): So lovely - The staff Location - can’t be helped not your fault
- Peter (7/5): Good -
- Josephine (10/5): Simply a wonderful experience and would return - The most enchanting venue… super character building and everything was 5 star. The staff were very accommodating and we had a memorable stay and would definitely recommend it wholeheartedly. Not that it affected us, but if you were disabled in any way our rooms would have been difficult to access.
- Sophie (10/5): Gorgeous - Gorgeous little pub with delicious food, simple but well-thought-out bedrooms, high-quality bedlinens, lovely staff and charming service from Carlos.
- Davina (9/5): A little gem of a cottage and a perfect country pub. - Plum Cottage was perfect for a family of four. We arrived to a charmingly designed cottage, Lovely Xmas touches, welcome cookies, milk in the fridge. Everything you might need. Very comfortable beds. Truly delicious pub supper and breakfast too. Great ambience. Thank you to all at the Compasses for a lovely stay. The locally sourced and very delicious burgers were so good, my son had two! Can’t fault a thing!
- Carol (10/5): Excellent stop near Stonehenge! - The pub was excellent! The food was so good (we had the Sunday roast dinner), a good wine list, and the atmosphere was excellent!
- Charlotte (7/5): Good - Stunning location and gorgeous pub with lovely atmosphere and great staff All the little touches
- Denise (10/5): Cosy Inn in Tisbury - Beautiful, cosy 14th century inn with rooms. Picture postcard perfect and in a great location for walks and a short drive to Tisbury High Street.
Food in the pub was excellent as was choice of drinks.
Plenty of car parking right opposite
- Jeffrey (9/5): Relaxing and an excellent place to break our journey - Excellent breakfast and very helpful and friendly staff. Comfortable bedroom. Not applicable
- Oren (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marisa (10/5): Stylish simplicity - Very tastefully furnished rooms. If you like Danish interiors then this will be perfect for you. The hosts were very friendly and food was top notch. I am already looking for an excuse to visit again. Room number 4 is the first room by the front door so can be noisy hearing other room guests coming and going.
- James (9/5): Wonderful stay. - Very comfortable room. Beautiful location, with plenty of parking. Staff were all friendly and attentive. Could do with a light, on the external stairs down to the pub/restaurant. And the bed side light in our room kept flickering and turning itself on. Spooky lol
- Sophie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Josephine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lc (8/5): Loved the style, staff a bit off - Easy check in, laid back vibes, comfortable bed, yummy cookies and plenty of hot water... thank you The evening staff felt like they wanted us out asap for dinner... they gave us a very passive agressive vibe..
