Loved staying outside of Matera because it was a quick 10 min drive there and back so I could enjoy matera day and night but not have to schlep my stuff up and down all the stairs and hills. Plus it was a tranquil retreat away from crowds. Staff was lovely. The breakfast was very good and plentiful but dinner was very mediocre. I don’t know I’d dine there again.

• 590glorian (10/5): Paradise! - This was our second stay at the Masseria Fontana di Vite and it was a marvellous experience yet again. Our cousins from NY joined us this time and they too adored it. Situated just a ten minute drive from the centre of Matera it served as a great place from which to visit our cousins in Matera and spend time in the Sassi. Of course, we had to tear ourselves away from the beautiful pool first. Everyone who worked there was so gracious and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful and the lunch and dinner excellent with produce from the masseria garden. Our room was beautiful with a patio where we were able to enjoy the gorgeous sunset with the hotel cats - the scent of lavender wafting in the air. It was also a great starting point for Altamura, Polignano a Mare, Monopoli and Alberobello. Altamura with its great restaurants and lovely centro storico was just 15 minutes drive and Polignano a Mare, Monopoli & Alberobello just an hour away. Go on, treat yourself!

• Guillaume (10/5): Un hôtel paisible et plein de charme, offrant une vue splendide sur la campagne près de Matera, une excellente table, un - Nous avons passé un très agréable séjour à la Masseria Fontana di Vite, perchée dans les hauteurs de Matera. L’hôtel bénéficie d’un emplacement idéal : à seulement 15 minutes du centre-ville, il permet de visiter Matera facilement tout en profitant d’un havre de paix à l’écart de l’agitation touristique. Le cadre est magnifique, avec une vue dégagée sur toute la plaine environnante, particulièrement sublime au coucher du soleil que l’on peut admirer directement depuis la propriété. La piscine est spacieuse, très bien entretenue, et a fait le bonheur de nos enfants pendant tout le séjour. Nous avons également beaucoup apprécié le restaurant sur place : les plats étaient délicieux, le service attentionné, et l’ensemble donnait envie de dîner sur place chaque soir. En résumé, c’est une adresse que nous recommandons vivement à tous ceux qui souhaitent découvrir Matera tout en séjournant dans un lieu paisible, élégant et accueillant.
• Claude (8/5): Mooie masseria met een hartelijke ontvangst! - Een prachtige masseria die zeer verzorgd met een goed onderhouden tuin en waar ze je hartelijk ontvangen. Er was en ruime parking en het zwembad voelde zalig aan na een lange autorit. De kamers waren ruim en prima in orde, voorzien van alle faciliteiten. Er was die avond een " panzerotto dinner " en die die was best wel OK maar voor die prijs 40 € / pp verwacht je toch iets meer.. Het blijven uiteindelijk maar panzerotto en je hebt er wel een glaasje of 2 wijn bij maar voor die prijs kan je toch iets beter eten in Italië. Misschien gewoon pech dat het die avond die formule was.
