• Jason and Debbie (10/5): Quiet comfortable retreat in Rutherglen. - What don’t we like?! Perfect retreat for getaways, or to get away from the crowds. Close enough to town for a casual stroll in for dinner or the shops. Spacious, comfortable and quiet. The hosts Chris and Ian are great and make us feel like we’re visiting family not customers. Our always stay in Rutherglen whenever we’re passing through or for festival time. Could not recommend more highly. Nothing.

It was spotless, warm, cosy and the bed was spacious. The setting is beautiful and Ian’s hospitality was exceptional. We appreciated being able to bring our dog and spend the night. Nothing!

• Barrie (10/5): Modern and classy accomodation in a beautiful garden setting close to many Rutherglen wineries. 🙂🙂 - First class accomodation in the perfect location to visit a large number of Rutherglen winery’s. The hosts were very professional and friendly - we felt like we were visiting family. The location is very peaceful with the sounds of birds at sunset 🙂 The accomodation was very modern and very comfortable. Nothing! We wished we could have stayed longer.

• Barbara (10/5): - Hosts were exceptionally helpful. Our room was spacious, light and airy with more facilities than I was aware of. A great place to stay in the summer where you could also use the barbecue and enjoy the outdoor space.

The bathroom is spacious, and thoughfully planned for people with all abilities. - This aspect to the accommodation is a testament to the hosts, who are delightful. Chris made a lovely breakfast, and was a great host. The gardens were beautiful, and located close enough to town, and an easy drive to the NSW border. That we did not stay longer, it was a short trip

The apartment was lovely, tastefully designed with quality fittings throughout in a luxurious apartment. The garden was spectacular and was Chris and Ian’s beautiful property - what a highlight. We couldn’t stay on longer, we thoroughly enjoyed our time here.

Nothing. Everything was great, including the huge bed that was like sleeping on a cloud! Breakfast in the morning was icing on a pretty great cake.

I couldn’t possibly think of anything that I didn’t like about the property.

• Pam (10/5): - The communication is A1. I asked for a early check in and it was no problem at all. The apartment was huge. It had a separate bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and lounge area. The surrounding area around the property was just beautiful, with freshly mowed lawns and manicured gardens. The hosts were delightful, available for a chat, but also respected our privacy. I would give anything to stay a week here, its just beautiful. A home cooked breakfast was also provided, and it was fresh, hot and delicious. Five stars from me!

• Alexandra (10/5): An Unexpected Gem in Rutheglen, Victoria - Ian, our host, was super-friendly and welcoming. He also served up a fabulous breakfast. The decor was beautiful and the property was clean and spacious. It was so pristine it felt like we were the first customers. The bed was large and very comfortable and the quiet location ensured a great night's sleep. After enduring some very small, pokey accommodation on our trip, the enormous bathroom, and general spaciousness of the apartment felt very luxurious. The beautiful gardens were a lovely, unexpected bonus. Everything about this property expressed quality and class. The only thing I didn't like was having to leave.

• Anthony (10/5): Perfect apartment in Rutherglen - We stayed for three nights in the one bedroom apartment. Chris and Ian are wonderful hosts and go out of their way to make your stay perfect. Breakfast every morning was freshly cooked and set us up for the day. The apartment was private, very clean, comfortable, and spacious. It opened up onto a verandah with a BBQ. We will definitely be back. It was perfect.

The host and hostess are easy to engage with, both being very friendly and accomodating. Our rooms were very clean, roomy and comfortable. The large garden is magnificent. We wanted for nothing. This was our second stay as we like it so much and we will return again in the future. Our border collie puppy enjoyed running and playing with the owners 3 border collies. This is top notch accommodation and we loved it. - The one bedroom apartment was beautifully set out, rooms were very spacious, exceptionally clean and beyond expectations for holiday accomodation. Doors open from lounge area to outside patio overlooking lush gardens. The establishment is maintained to a high standard. Host was friendly and breakfast delicious. The bedside lights were not quite bright enough.
• Francis (10/5): - Lovely accommodation in the heart of Rutherglen. Hosts were very friendly and helpful. Welcoming committee were their three dogs. Room was large including a Lounge, bedroom and ensuite. Breakfast options were also broad.
• Salster (10/5): Exceptional - The hosts were fabulous. After only one weekend I felt that Chris and Ian were old friends. The room was huge and well appointed. Nice touches were included such as a few chockies for us to eat and a small carton of milk for tea and coffee which was much appreciated. Breakfast was amazing. Appreciated the back entrance to our room which could allow us to come and go discretely if we wished. The bed was king sized which I appreciated. We really loved our stay here and would not hesitate to come back. Absolutely nothing. Everything was perfect. They do have dogs - but they were beautiful and super friendly. One loved tummy rubs...!!. Really I couldn't fault anything.
• Michael (9/5): Great location and good value - Apartment is one of 2 within a house but each is completely private from the owners. Large room with sitting area. Large bathroom with washing machine. Chris gave a great breakfast and was very welcoming. The suites are quiet with no traffic noise and lots of bird sounds - lovely country stay. The property is also dog friendly! The suites are more a B&B than an apartment as they contain a kitchenette not a full kitchen but there was a BBQ and microwave plus full fridge so we were able to cook for ourselves. The owners have 3 lovely border collie dogs which I enjoyed patting and Chris would lock them away if someone didn't like dogs.

• Trisha (10/5): Best Place to stay in Rutherglen - We are repeat customers at Barkly Suites. Chris and Ian are wonderful hosts; they are just the right amounts of friendly, welcoming and helpful. The cooked to order breakfast each morning is delicious and generous. The apartments (we have stayed in both units) are absolutely huge and include A/C, a kitchenette, lounge area, bedroom and bathroom as well as an outdoor BBQ area. The units are spotlessly clean, well maintained and everything you need is included. Comfortable beds (firm mattresses) made with quality pressed linens. Location is great. An easy walk (approx 10 minutes) into Rutherglen Main Street to the excellent restaurants and cafes. We will always choose Barkly Suites when staying in Rutherglen.

She even messaged us, knowing we were out, to let us park in the carport so our car didn’t get frosty for our early departure and made sure there were lights on for our return.
