• Izabella (2/5): Undvik detta ställe - Under all kritik – undvik detta "hotell" Vår vistelse på detta hotell var tyvärr en riktig besvikelse. Rummet var smutsigt, med lakan som hade stora hål, ett trasigt handfat och en dusch täckt av mögel och rost. Vi fick byta rum eftersom AC:n inte fungerade, men det nya rummet hade samma bristande hygien och underhåll. Det kändes mer som ett nedgånget motell än ett hotell. Hårtorken var som från 1800-talet – den stängde av sig så fort man rörde sig, vilket gjorde den i princip oanvändbar. Vi vågade inte äta frukost på grund av den allmänna bristen på renlighet. Dessutom kunde vi knappt sova eftersom vi kliade sönder oss i sängen, vilket tyder på att även sänghygienen var långt ifrån acceptabel. Vi valde därför att lämna tidigt. Det enda positiva var att personalen var tillmötesgående och gjorde sitt bästa utifrån omständigheterna. De bytte till exempel de trasiga lakanen när vi bad om det, och hjälpte oss att byta rum. Trots detta rekommenderas hotellet inte – standarden är långt under vad man rimligen kan förvänta sig.

• melhjohnston (2/5): Poor Breakfast - This rating is for restaurant only. The breakfast was unfortunately the most disappointing on our 4 weeks here so fa in Europe. Little to choose from and what was there was not good. I would have been happy with decent pastries or even rolls/croissants but that didn’t happen. Cereal wasn’t good. There was also a strong odor that completely turned us off staying. I think it was some kind of cleaning chemical but whatever it was, was not appealing to stay. I would not recommend.

• kaiforrest08 (2/5): STAY AWAY - The food is below if not barely average. the rooms are cramped and mostly dirty. there is a huge lack of charging ports guests can access. staff is rude and has their own conversations instead of assisting guests. overall very disappointing.
• Teodóra (8/5): Dunakanyar - Nagyon kényelmes a matrac, a párna számomra nem volt megfelelő, túl nagy volt a párna! A díszpárnákhoz adnék huzatot, igy használható volna alváshoz is! Tisztaság volt, de egy kicsi csatorna szagot észleltem, szellőztetni nem tudtam! Jól éreztem magam, köszönöm!
• Peter (2/5): - Hotel was old and in need of a thorough refit. Our room in the attic was very small and in practical terms made even smaller by the sloping roof, (on one side you had to duck to get into bed). The furniture was very dated. The room was never serviced during our three night stay and so we had to make up our own beds and tidy the room ourselves. Breakfast was from 7.00 to 10.00 but there was little left when we went to the restaurant at 8.30. and the replenishment of food was very slow or non-existent. The only good thing was the location which is in the centre of Eger and so within very easy reach of the towns' attractions.

Window is old has 2 locks 1 doesn’t work and plaster is falling off around it. This room is from. 1980, needs serious maintenance
• adamsR2928FT (2/5): Value hotel without any values - This is the accommodation you wanna avoid so far. This hotel has been left here from the 70’s without any restoration. I would say it’s clean but I could not be honest with you. Free Wi-Fi but you will use your mobile network. This is a value hotel without any values. 80eur/night. It s much more expensive than than it should be

• Zsuzsanna (8/5): - Nagyon jó helyen van, központban, ugyanakkor csendes a szoba. Kedves, figyelmes kiszolgálás, tiszta szoba, olyan meleget csinálhattunk, amilyet szeretnénk, ágy tiszta, kényelmes keménységű, de nagyon gyöszös, így a lepedőn keresztül is érezhető volt, pokróccal megoldottuk, így jó volt. Párna nem kényelmes annyira. Zuhanyzófej elérhetetlen magasságban, igy szappantartóra próbáltuk mindig akasztgatni. 😊zuhanyzó wc felöli oldalán az ajtó hiányzott, így wc és környéke tiszta víz lett. Zuhanypolc kicsit rozsdás, amúgy tiszta volt a zuhanyzó, wc-n lehetett pici vizkövesedést látni. Reggelinél töltötték aránylag a tartókat, még gyümölcs, es pelyhek is voltak. Se rántotta, se tükörtojás, és ami igazán nekem rossz volt, hogy nem volt teljeskiörlésű kenyér. Finom teák, és káve volt. Többféle gyümölcslé, fornetti sütik. Kétféle sajt volt zöldségek frissek voltak. Csak fizetős parkoló van a környéken. Szolgáltatás az árhoz képes nagyon jónak látom. Megérte ezekkel az apró hibákkal a hotelt választani.. Jól éreztem magam, visszamennék. 😊

• Verified traveler (8/5): Minaret - We arrived at the reception the stuff was kind maybe, but they dont take too much effort. But then when we arrived to the room, that was terrible. We got the smallest room what I’ve ever seen. It was under the roof, in summer there was horrible heat. Yes they have an A/C but it did not work well, we have one small window but it was not enough. We havent got enough space for nothing, our suitcase was under the table near the bed and that was the whole space we have in room. The bed was from wall to wall, the toilet was right next to shower and wall at the otherside. We have one table with mirror (by the way the only mirror in the room) and there were a tv in front of it. The breakfast was not great not terrible, eggs, sausages, ham, cheese, some fruits and vegetables, cereals and thats it. The location was the only positive thing about this hotel. It really need some reconstruction or have to be cheaper, because for this price you can have a way more better accomodation in Eger.

• carolas936 (8/5): Modest hotel in quiet neighborhood near central square - Park Hotel Minaret is about 300m from Dobó István Square (Eger's main square). It faces Eger's Minaret (hence its name). My room had twin beds, small refridge, hair dryer, desk, chair, couch, a cathode ray TV and a small balcony overlooking the minaret. The bathroom was clean, with toilet, shower and sink. The WiFi signal was weak, better down in the lobby. Beds were comfortable, and the area very quiet at night. The breakfast buffet offered cereal (2 kinds), yogurt, fresh fruit, freshly baked rolls, cold cuts, cheese, eggs, coffee and tea. I thought that the hotel offered good value for the price of the rooms, considering its location and quiet, comfortable sleep.
• 131anik_k (6/5): Hotel from the 80’s - The hotel has a very good location in the center however the room itself was not renewed since 1980’s. Old tiles, “dirty” shower curtain. We had half board: Breakfast was ok, nothing special, for dinner you have to go for another hotel which is 5 minutes away.
• Verified traveler (4/5): - Only time I’ve had a smaller room was in NYC. No housekeeping service for our three day stay. We got one ratty towel per person. A/C didn’t work. Real fast was questionable. One night the front desk clerk apparently decided to leave his post so he just left our key with the room number in it on the desk for anyone to use. If you don’t have Hungarian speakers with you, you’ll have a challenge.
• Darla (10/5): - The hotel was close to the train station. It was very clean with comfortable beds. The staff was friendly and helpful. They had a large delicious breakfast buffet. They had a large sitting area and a patio. We arrived early and she let us store our bags. The wi-fi worked great.
• Kerryn72 (8/5): Good sleep quality - Located opposite the minaret, the hotel is in easy walking distance to everything. Eger is a small town with many things to see. Hotel was quiet and sleep quality was good. Rooms basic but clean and comfortable. Shower was small. No 'extras' provided in bathrooms...just soap. Breakfast simple but good. Pleasant stay.
• T0urist7 (8/5): location - A cheap hotel with a fantastic location. The hotel is located opposite the only Minaret in the city, which reminds the fascinating history of Hungary. In 1596 Eger was conquered by the Ottoman Empire. The Turks ruled the city for 91 years. Minaret is a curiosity, a place to take a picture. It's worth staying in such a place in a hotel.

• Joe (8/5): Good hotel in downtown - Cheap all you can eat dinner for $12. Breakfast is included, it is good. Next to the hotel there is a huge parking lot, you can find a spot even at the worst times if you wait 3-5 minutes.
• vanWieren (2/5): Avoid at all cost - Absolutely disgusting place. Arriving in the far too warm room we realised there was a bad sweet smell. One of the previous guests had left a bag of food (a while ago) under the bed. I am not talking about suspicious stains in carpets and on the walls. Found a little dry dog poo underneath the bed as well. We were with 9 people staying one night and the other rooms were not better. We left.
• Cat_Shepherd (6/5): Nice hotel, BUT.... poor dinner, staff without competency - The hotel seems to be nice.. BUT the room was as short as my 190cm hieght boyfriend could not take an upright position and it was really small. the walls were full of mess, and spider webs. we found a dead bug next to the bed. when we asked a room with one big bed instead 2 twin bed the receptionist said that they have rooms with twin bed only, but we (the guests) could piece together. Maybe I would be happier if they offer to do this instead of us. The closed parking lot is on the next street and only 2 keys exist to open it, so anytome we wanted to go in or out we had to walk back to the hotel with the keys. It is really uncomfortable, I can not understand why don't they make a parking key for every room. The dinner was not a big deal, as a vegetarian I could eat cheese and rice only with request (it was not served just after I asked it), cause every other meal was made by meat, despite I asked vegetarian meals 2 weeks before our arrival. Furthermore we should wait for tables because the waiter could not clean it immediately, so the guests took the dirty dishes away. To sum it up, it was cheap escpecially than it is in the middle of the city, but it wasn't worth it, the staff was amateur.
• silangel1 (6/5): We only slept in the hotel - We came to Eger for a work and for more than a week in this nice city. We booked 4 rooms in Minaret. The hotel is in the center. From our roof window we could see the top of the church. Rooms are clean but tiny. We got two towels and a small fridge. The hair dryer was wrong but the funny guy gave me a new one at the reception. Only had breakfast for one time there, it was a general buffet. After 3 days we got new towels, however they were not on the floor. The rooms were so hot, we had to sleep with windows open.

• 739petrv (4/5): Great location. That is all... - If you are looking for small rooms which are under the roof and overheated all the time, than the hotel is really suitable for you! You can expect outdated furniture (the ninetees style), damaged parts of bathrooms, non-functional AC. All for 68 EURo per double!!! Great personnel in reception strongly contrast with lazy and bored lady in the restaurant. I wish I chose another accomodation... This hotel is not suitable for people higher than 170 cm, because of a low roof level.
• colsen1970 (8/5): Great location - A decent three star hotel in the centre of Eger town. Walking distance to all of Eger tourist attractions that are worth visiting in the area. Rooms are simple, but clean and the breakfast was minimalistic, but well tasting. I can recommend ordering a room with "package" that gives you entrance to the spa and thermal bath area. Plenty of restaurants, cafes and wine tasting to chose from and enjoy in the area. Reserved free parking area for guests not far from the hotel. All in all very satisfied with this small hotel.
• ntimus (8/5): Decent hotel in city center - We spent a long weekend in Eger in Hotel Minaret. In average the hotel was nice, although we didn't sleep so well because of the outdoor noises: traffic, heavy rain (but that wasn't the hotel's fault) and sometimes it was annoying that you could hear what is happening in the neighbouring rooms. Our room was alright: we had a view to the minaret, towels and hair dryer were provided too and even a small refrigerator was in the room which could be useful in the summer. The hotel's main advantage that it is in the city center, so we could reach most of Eger's sights (Dobó Square, Turkish bath, termal bath, basilica, castle of Eger, etc.) easily on foot. Breakfasts and dinners were very delicious and staff was very helpful and polite so our weekend worth its price.
• Crosstourer (8/5): Nice hotel for a trip - Good for the price. Good food, good location and friendly personnel. The rooms are nice and comfortable. The parking ability is not so nice, but for 1000 HUF pro night you can use a closed park house (approx 80m from Hotel). I recommend this place.
• eraenfa (6/5): Centrally located, OK for the money - The best with the hotel is that it is situated right in the middle of this small town. The famous old minaret (don't forget to climb it, the view is nice from its balcony) is 10 m from the entrance. Within 10 minutes walk you will find many nice restaurants and the famous Eger fort. The rooms are OK. No luxury. The contents of the breakfast was a little different each morning.Don't be too late, otherwise some dishes may be missing. There is a private, fenced-in parking 100 m from the hotel (the hotel will arrange the reservation and you pay at the hotel) but it cost you 800 HUF/day (June 2012).
• Guest (8/5): Cheap and convenient...if you don't mind the stairs. - Two guys on a road trip. We were just looking for a place to flop and enough hot water to wash the grime off us after spending two weeks working on my farm. We went UP the stairs and the room served us well. When we woke up the next morning, the weather was perfect so we decided to stay an extra two days to spook around the city. DOWN the winding staircase we went to go exploring. If you turn left from the hotel and walk toward the city center on your right you will find a "csukraszda", a Hungarian pastry shop that is A-One. We had a breakfast of double espressos and sugar and buzzed off for the day. A little later the weather changed and we went back to the hotel for wind breakers. UP the stairs, getting out of the way of a large group of elderly ladies coming DOWN the stairs who were there on a bus tour. Coming DOWN the stairs, we ran into the Hungarian National water polo team coming UP the stairs. We squeezed into the corner as these giants passed. We slept late the next morning and found no hot water for our showers. The little old ladies had gotten up early and run ALL the hot water down before their bus picked them up. We went to the cathedral and the bishop's palace to see the camera obscura (must see!) The next morning we got up early, had a LONG hot shower and went DOWN the stairs. We stopped at the little corner market for coffee and snacks before setting off for the castle, which is only a few blocks DOWN the hill and then quite a hike back UP the hill. It is really worth the hike...great museums and views. After the castle we went DOWN the hill, and then went DOWN the stairs to have dinner at the Feherszarvas Vadasztanya...one of the best, if not the best restaurant in Eger. Back UP the stairs for the night. The next morning we went DOWN the stairs and next door and brought back our coffee to sit out on the back terrace. That is when the desk clerk asked why we didn't just get our coffee from the free breakfast (there's a free breakfast?) We went out to the terrace and found the pool which we didn't know about. Lesson learned: ASK what is available at the hotel upon check-in. Finished with our coffee, the clerk asked us why we hadn't gone to the top of the Minaret, "It is just outside the front door and has the finest view of the city. Only 210 UP steps to the top." We never made it to the top of the minaret.
• Q5880EXmarkk (6/5): Fairly nice and inexpensive... - We stayed here at part of a Rick Steves tour, and it was nice enough (and that shouldn't be taken as a negative). It's inexpensive and the service was good. It has A/C and our room was right over the entrance looking to the minaret (which you can climb). The hotel sort of sprawls in a lot of directions and many rooms are conversions that worked well. There is a pool in the courtyard (an above ground one that isn't too big and wasn't heated much but felt good). The breakfast room in in a kind of basement but it was spacious and offered quite a lot of food. The front desk people were good. As for it's location, it's perfect. It was no more than about 3 blocks to the heart of the city plaza... and everything in the core of Eger is close to everything else.
