My only beef is with the darkness in the first-floor rooms. I understand the trees are there for privacy and because of what would otherwise be a not terribly great view, but the lack of natural light wasn't very agreeable.

Room was super hot 75-76 degrees, ac did not work, BUT the front desk applied some bonus points to my Marriot account. Better choice of food would have been nice as well.

- fjon (6/5): Historical Quaint Hotel in hip Hudson - Stayed here for 1 night on drive through town. Great location in downtown Hudson. The town is going through a revitalization and has lots of interesting and unique shops and restaurants. The hotel has a great history and for an old building, has some unique and quirky spaces. Our room was on the small side, but had everything you needed. Nice bathroom features and a comfy bed. Just wish there was a couch or chair for relaxation. I was a bit disappointed for the lackluster dinner menu in the restaurant. We ended up going elsewhere. Breakfast was OK…just wish we had a decent coffee cup. Rather than a take-out paper cup. This hotel has potential, and needs to step up the dining options! I would stay here again and cannot wait to see what the 11/26 renovations present. - AnnieO975 (8/5): Historical and Quaint Hotel in Hudson - Lovely, quaint, and friendly. Very family friendly. I would stay here again. High marks for the front desk staff--very friendly and very helpful. I loved the history of the place but remember that with a historical site, the windows are drafty especially in December. After dinner outside the hotel, we returned and played cards in the bar area and felt welcome and comfortable. Within walking distance of main street shopping, train station, and view of the river.

- 122janelled (2/5): Dark, Dank, Dungeon Rooms in Basement - Not a Luxury Hipster Hotel Experience - I am really sorry to need to write this review but my experience was awful. The hotel has an oligation to let guests understand that a few rooms (including mine #131) are really more like a basement dungeon than $380-$500 per night upscale hotel room. Upon check-in, they claim you are getting a beautiful room but due to this being a historic building, it "may not get the most natural light." Well, that is an understatment. What they actually mean is that they are placing you in the basement dungeon which is moldy and dank. There are no windows. I could hear mice or rats running around in the walls in the middle of the night. It's pure corporate greed to use this room for a paying guest (which needs to be storage.) I feel swindled. It was a punishment that I paid for. After some negotiating, they took $50.00 off but it was still completely overpriced for a musty & dank dump with mice in the walls. I would not recommend this place to anyone who is a saavy, self-repecting traveller. Read the negative reviews - they are all correct. To end on an upbeat note, I did enjoy the veggie burger and fries. But the rest of my experience was a nightmare.

- Harold (9/5): A peaceful and comfortable place right in the heart of Hudson by the river. - Comfortable feeling, wasn’t like staying in a normal hotel atmosphere. It fit in with its community, and that’s what made it peaceful. Staff was tremendously helpful, room was very clean and fit my needs, and if you didn’t want to leave hotel to eat they had good food for breakfast and dinner. All around very good value in a beautiful historic town. I had only one issue. The shower in the bathroom was an open shower with half glass and I would have preferred a sliding door or a shower door I could close. A little bit of water would get on bathroom floor. No a big deal, but managed.

- Ella (2/5): - BED BUGS – BEWARE! I planned to spend just one night here while passing through and immediately found live bed bugs on the king bed upon arrival. I even took a picture and tried to show the front desk, but the staff refused to look at it, almost as if they already knew. This isn’t just disappointing it’s a health and safety issue. If cleanliness, honesty, and basic hospitality matter to you, avoid this place at all costs.

It used to be a place where we felt genuinely welcomed by friendly, outgoing staff, but this visit left us disappointed in several areas. Positive notes - It was wonderful to see Quin and Maria still on the team. We’re glad one of the original guests-facing staff (OGS) is still there and contributing to the ambiance. - Quin in particular stood out as a bright spot during our stay. Areas for improvement - Guest service: The overall level of service felt lacking compared to prior visits. We missed the warmth, attentiveness, and proactive hospitality that Alison and Jordan consistently provided in the past. Their absence was noticeable, and the interactions with the staff this time did not meet our expectations. - Staff consistency: Having different faces and a lack of continuity in service can affect the guest experience. The standout friendliness from Alison and Jordan was missing, which diminished the overall feel of the stay. - Food quality: The meals were extremely lacking in quality and presentation, to the point where we did not finish our food. This was a major letdown and detracted from the overall value of the experience. Recommendation - The Wick Hotel has the potential to be excellent again, but it would benefit from: - Re-emphasizing guest-service training and consistency, with a focus on friendliness and proactive assistance. - Encouraging staff retention of long-time associates who guests have learned to trust and love, such as Alison and Jordan, or ensuring new staff reach a similar level of warmth and attentiveness. - Reassessing the kitchen and menu quality to ensure meals meet guests’ expectations and provide a satisfying dining experience. Overall We hope the management takes note of this feedback and strives to restore the level of hospitality and culinary quality that once made The Wick Hotel a standout. We still appreciate Quin and Maria’s continued presence and hope to see more of that same welcoming spirit across the team on future visits.

- carolv951 (8/5): some tips - 1. We are seniors. We were assigned a room that required we carry our bags up some steps. The front desk did not offer to help and resented reassigning us to a room accessible by elevator. They were not helping anyone else. Definitely should not be working at a front desk! We were assigned a room in the basement. Our window was a window well. 2. we were there midweek and parked right on the street in front of the hotel. At the end of the parking area, there is a staircase that takes you within two short blocks of the main street. 3. We had signed up for breakfast with our reservation. At the hotel, we were informed that this meant 1 drink and 1 entree. Unless you order an omelet, it's cheaper to buy a la carte and not with your reservation. The omelet was delicious.
- markstar (8/5): not wick-ed... but not at all bad - some harsh reviews here ..... we enjoyed our 2 night stop... right on the edge of the town and a short walk to the high st / train staion /shops / coffe / bars. it's a quirky industrial conversion, the pictures are representative, big room, nice facilities, coffee and iced water on tap at reception. staff all nice.... all in all pleased we stayed

- Marilyn (10/5): - The Wick is conveniently located literally across the street from the Hudson NY Amtrak rail station. My room was very nice, spacious, with comfortable bedding and lighting. Staff was very friendly and helpful. There was a problem with my stuck entry door and it was immediately addressed. Bathroom was very spacious - good water pressure and quality amenities. I had a full American breakfast in the lobby area and it was tasty. I felt safe as a solo traveler - not that the property is at the end of a cul de sac and very quiet. Would highly recommend staying here.

- Lisa (5/5): Not worth the money or the hassle. - The room was big enough The room was dank. The pull-out sofa bed was so uncomfortable that it was practically useless. When was the last time new mattresses were installed in both the regular bed and the sofa bed? One of the desk clerks 'came from a place of no.' The first response from him to any question was negative. For example, we asked if the sofa bed could be made up. He said no because there was no one in housekeeping to do it. When challenged, he eventually sent someone from housekeeping to do it. And we had to cajole him to get the room cleaned daily. For the price we paid, that was ridiculous. And the people we traveled with NEVER had their room made up during the entire 4-day stay! What's with that? WAAAAAAAAY overpriced for the location, room quality, and service

- suzannerO7906RV (2/5): Do not stay here - Do not stay here. There are plenty of less expensive hotels in the area that are just as comfortable if not more so, such as Howard hotel. We were here for a wedding and put in a basement room without a window- it was like a dungeon and smelled horribly like cleaning solution. After three tries they finally moved us (despite saying it wasn't possible earlier). New room smelled like sewage and was tiny considering the still gigantic price tag. General manager was so rude and unapologetic- Tamsin Kelly. This hotel is an embarrassment to the Marriott brand. More like a step below a courtyard Marriott rather than a "tribute portfolio hotel."

- lesliek203 (2/5): Horrible choice - It was over 90 degrees out. The air conditioning in the room was not working. When we went to call the front desk, we found the phone was not working. The person who came to look at the air conditioning controls and the phone told us that nothing could be done, but the engineer could look at these things the next day. We found that unacceptable, so the hotel employee went to check whether another room was available. While she was gone, the television turned itself off. We were moved to another room and were told that it would take some time for the air conditioner to cool the room down, since it had been off. The temperature of the room got down to 75 degrees, but not lower. We were out of the room most of the next day. When we returned, it was clear that the air conditioner was not working. An employee came up to the room, but the best he could offer was to change our room again! We declined. For a two-night stay, we did not want to be changing our room every night. Also, the air conditioner was leaking, leaving a puddle on the carpet. And the configuration of the light switches were peculiar such that the light could not be off in the bedroom and on in the sitting room. Although the hotel staff was lovely and pleasant, we will not be staying at The Wick again.

Nothing special, given the high price for a room. And the Bad. Totally uninspiring setting. Room was teeny and offered such a depressing view that I kept the curtains closed and felt like I was in a cave. Floors creek everywhere. Bed was comfortable but on the soft side. Did I mention how small and uninspiring the rooms were, despite costing a fortune?

We had front rooms and they were nice. No noise even though a big wedding had the hotel. The free coffee is appreciated. Little choices in the very limited breakfast restaurant but right on the corner there are some nice choices for breakfast. Also can walk to Caboose Catering spot if you have an event there. About 4-5 blocks from downtown area. Hotel expense though! Not a great value.

- Mary (8/5): Comfortable, clean but lacking a special touch - Had very high expectations for this Tribute Portfolio hotel. Upon arrival the hotel is not in a great area, certainly not scenic. Parking was not very convenient, only a limited amount of spots in front, more in the back of the hotel which was not convenient. We arrived early for check in, and was told we would get a text or call when room was ready. That never happened. The bar and restaurant were lack luster. Again, the view was an empty parking lot, old warehouses. Did not get food, only drinks. We were the only ones in the restaurant even though the hotel was fully booked. The room was comfortable, clean and bed was on the higher end. No extras. All in all a decent experience, but felt some disappointment given the Tribute Portfolio title.

We then moved to a different room with no electricity on one wall. It’s an old hotel; we are just exhausted from travel, so we just let it be. Other than that the staff is great and the food they have downstairs it’s pretty reasonable!

Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Only issue would be the train whistle that goes off from time to time until midnight but earplugs helped with that. A total surprise! would stay again

- Julia (10/5): Spacious and comfortable stay in Hudson - The room was incredibly spacious, with a comfortable bed, and a large seating area with couch and coffee table. Extremely comfortable all around, and only a short walk to downtown Hudson. Check out the adorable and yummy cafe on the corner! Since we were only staying for one night, we didn't mind the underground room with the lightwell up to ground level. Had we been staying for longer, we would have requested a room with more natural light.

- gosaka (8/5): Solid experience, comfortable stay, friendly staff - I was a little apprehensive about The Wick after reading some of the very bad reviews on TA. I was pleasantly surprised by my stay over the Christmas holiday for three nights for a visit with family nearby. The room I had was spacious and faced the street. The bed was very comfortable and the shower more than adequate. I had breakfast in the hotel twice and also a casual dinner (burger) and while not luxurious the meals were fine and the service solid. I suspect some expect a boutique or upscale experience - I’d term it a solid Marriott experience. I do agree that the area is industrial and the parking area in back could be improved but neither were a problem for me during my stay. I’d definitely stay again.

- Ashley (2/5): Basement rooms with NO WINDOWS - I booked a (expensive) king room expecting a comfortable and safe experience at the Wick. Instead, I was assigned a room in the basement with no windows, which was dark, claustrophobic, and was entirely opposite of what was advertised. When I requested a room change, I was told only other windowless rooms were available. The front desk staff sympathized, but could only hand me a manager’s business card and suggested I “email to complain”. Feeling cornered, I left the hotel in search of alternative accommodations, but by that time (6:30 p.m. on a Saturday), every hotel within a 30-mile radius was fully booked. When I returned an hour later, the best they could offer was a basement room with a partial window, which still left half the room below ground level. I had no other option but to stay. This experience completely ruined my evening and made me miss my dinner reservation when should have been relaxing on vacation. They owe me a refund and an apology -- no one should be thrown into a dark dungeon of a room when they paid for a clean, brightly advertised room. It was a total bait and switch. For anyone considering a stay here, beware. They apparently have MANY windowless rooms(!!) If you value a comfortable, safe, and enjoyable hotel experience, the Wick will probably take your money and throw you into a concrete box the same they did to me.

- Mervi (9/5): Nice hotel although a bit pricey - Cool hotel, friendly staff. Good location on a quiet road, short walk to restaurants. Room was spacious and clean. Only á la carte breakfast available, and the nearby café (Kitty's) has limited choice for breakfast. Room a bit pricey, but seems like all hotels in Hudson are pricey.
- Kristina (10/5): - The Wick is a modern, affordable hotel with anything you would want: great parking but also a 4 minute walk to the train station. Secluded but close to Warren St shopping and nightlife. Good breakfast, good coffee and a full bar and restaurant. I liked the very modern design: luxurious but masculine and streamlined. Only complaint: the railway horns do go all night.

Our replacement room was in the basement as there were no other available rooms. This room was obviously very dark, but quiet.

Plugs fell out of sockets. I would have given it 2 stars but the beds were fantastic. Location wasn't bad but basically you are surrounded by a gravel parking lot. Limited and mediocre food. Wish I had done more research before I reserved this. Definitely at the low end of Marriotts

- NewYorkercynic (4/5): Outrageously Expensive for a Basement Room with no Window - This was the specified hotel for a wedding held in Hudson. It seemed fabulously expensive, but was walking distance to the wedding venue, so I booked it. I was shocked to discover that a $389.00/night group rate for the room was in the basement and had a faux window that opened up to a cement window-well with no actual natural light--the top of the window well was even covered with a solid covering. When I asked at the front desk if perhaps I could get a room that was not a windowless room in the basement, they had none available and conceded that those rooms "were not for everyone" but touted the architect's creativity in converting a former candle factory into an overpriced hotel. That architect, I suspect, was not paying $389/night to sleep in a basement room with a fake window. A manager overheard my conversation with the indifferent front desk staff and attempted to placate me by taking $50/night off my room rate and granting me some extra Bonvoy points. That was something, but still, $339/night for a hotel in a town like Hudson, with no facilities other than a small gym, felt like highway robbery. Especially after I experienced a fall in the tub/shower in the bathroom, which had an exceptionally slippery floor with no treads or rubber bath mate. Again, when I reported my fall to the front desk and asked for a rubber bath mat, I was greeted with indifference (though when the room was serviced, a mat did appear). When I checked out the following day,and again expressed shock at the price charged for a room with no window, and again mentioned my slip and fall in the bath the day prior, I was also offered a voucher for a free breakfast. The overlay of Williamsburgh in Hudson has clearly justified all sorts of crazy prices, but this is not a hotel that can justify these crazy prices. And they really ought to equip every room--not just those of people who complain--with bath mats that could minimize the risk of falls in the shower. And they also ought to consider lowering the shower heads so that those under six feet tall might be able to adjust the shower heads.

The location is not far from the action but the stairwell that leads into downtown (Warren Street area) is temporarily under reconstruction as are some of the building surrounding The Wick. The views are nothing to speak of from the hotel rooms (mostly parking lots surrounding the building) but The Wick is tastefully appointed and well maintained. There's a bar on site that stays open until 11p and breakfast can be purchased if you don't want to go off property. Very convenient (walking distance) to the Amtrak train depot!

It was a ways from downtown but close to the river. Kind of a weird location and GPS brings you down a weird street. Hudson is trying to make a comeback, I'm told.

The room was huge, elegant and very comfortable. - The location was a little yucky but once you walk a bit you can get to Warren Street where all the great stuff is. Hudson is a city that is getting quite the facelift. The parking lot was big but a little creepy.
- JerryJ2 (6/5): A tad too minimalistic - Booked a junior suite - after the check-in realized the photos you see on the Marriott Bonvoy site - do not match what is provided by the hotel - the abrasive and abrupt Front Desk clerk blamed that on Marriott - although the rooms are spacious - the junior suite does not come with the claw foot bathtub as pictured just a walk-in shower - there’s no chair in the bedroom as pictured - and there is no dresser or any type of storage unit with a drawer that you can use other than the closet - the clerk did offer to provide extra hangers. So plan on living out of your suitcase - we ended up using the window sill - see picture. Be aware many of the rooms are on the first floor and are fishbowls to people passing by. This hotel is off the beaten path as well. I wish I had done more research there appear to be many more charming hotels, right in the town. Having lifetime, platinum plus titanium status meant nothing here.
