Guest Reviews
- Kathy (10/5): - The room was b
- Clay (10/5): - Very quiet and the rooms were just enough. Staff was friendly and helpful.
- Gary (10/5): - This was an incredible find. No staff on site, but the rooms we had were 5 star.
- Brad (2/5): Robbed by the McAllister! - There was no one there to help us! We called the telephone number of the "parent motel" in town. They said we could trade our room and come stay there if we'd prefer. We did! They told us they would call you and cancel the McAllister reservation. They recharged us for the room at the Sportsman's Lodge. She apparently never cancelled your room because we were charged for both rooms and only stayed in one!
- Jenna (8/5): - Room was updated and clean
- Frank (10/5): - Large room. Has patio with beautiful view of lake and mountains. Patio table and chairs. Staff leaves at 4:00 so lockbox checkin. Restaurant and bar was closed. Sister facility 7 miles down the road.
- Joshua (10/5): - great place
- Travis (10/5): - It was easy access off the road, safe parking and wonderful communication from staff!
- Pamela (10/5): - This is an amazing hotel. Very clean and spacious room. Absolutely love the outdoor space! There is outside seating out front a d a nice porch with picnic table and additional seating area outside the backdoor. I will highly recommend this location to others.
- Angela (10/5): - We were absolutely thrilled to stay the McCallister Inn. the view was gorgeous. Simple instructions for remote check in and check out. Very spacious room and very clean. Great amenities - even had a fridge. Would highly recommend.
- Mackenzie (10/5): - This is a cool little place in the middle of nowhere. A perfect stop for those on their way to the west coast.
- charles (10/5): - The room was huge and had all those little amenities things covered. Loved the private porch with mt views. Def will stay here again and recommend to friends.
- Sarah (10/5): - Amazing views of surrounding mountains. The high ceilings and extra large rooms really make it feel like an oasis in the shadow of the mountains. My family of 4 slept comfortably and enjoyed watching deer from the back porch!
- Glenda (8/5): - It was a nice room and the back was great for pets. The downside is our TV was broke and there was nobody around to fix it.
- Ginette (10/5): Awesome place - Very clean. Quiet. Wonderful shower stall. Awesome back door in the room onto private patio. Excellent location. Motel style, park in front of room.
- Sharon (10/5): - Beautiful country place , easy to find on 287. Room was modern and very nice!
- James (8/5): - Did not look inviting when we arrived. the sheets were not the right size for the Bed.
Remote access to the Receptionist
Drove to Ennis to eat and found a great restaurant.
Tavern 287
- frank (6/5): - Didn't like that it was remotely operated.
- john (10/5): - Out of all the places I’ve stayed at this Summer this is without a doubt the best place I’ve stayed at so far.
Very clean and comfortable room.
Highly recommended.
- Jacqueline (8/5): - Nice little place to stay
- Jim (10/5): - Great property just 10 minutes from town at a little more affordable price. The property was dog friendly and had a nice back porch with a yard.
- Leigh (8/5): - The staff so helpful and friendly. Remote check in was easy. The rooms were very spacious and clean. It had a nice mini kitchen. It feels very much like a cabin experience and is geared towards fishermen. The patio was also nice to sit outside. From the outside, the hotel building is fine but when you pull into the parking lot, there is a burnt down building which is an eyesore. The hotel is also the only business within at least 5 or 6 miles so have to travel into Ennis for food, gas, shopping, etc. I would stay again.
- Thomas (10/5): - xx
- Jenette (10/5): - Good
- Verified traveler (10/5): Peaceful setting - Quiet private patio off the room. Large comfortable room for an extended stay. The restaurant was no longer open due to a fire last fall.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Quiet and comfortable. - Comfortable place to stay. Quiet easy parking, beautiful scenery. Room was in great condition, except carpet. 7 miles to stores and restaurants.
- Carlos (10/5): - Very quite, far from the town but that's what we were looking for
- Lisa (8/5): - This was a very cute property, Check in was easy. Disappointed that the Steak House Restaurant not being there. It burnt down a year ago and they have not updated there site. So, you had to drive back to town for meals.
- Patty (10/5): - Self check in was great. Views amazing and super quiet. The view from the roaf could use some help
- Aaron (10/5): - Nice
- Heidi (10/5): - Beautiful Mountain view! Motel looks newly remodeled and was spotless. Check-in was easy. Quick drive to supermarket and local atttractions. Loved our time here.
- Patricia (10/5): - Very comfortable and clean.
- Ginger (4/5): A disappointed end of a lovely day. - We were greeted with a very expensive room that smelled of smoke (we found out that there was a fire in the room last Fall, 2025). We read the reviews but obviously did not dig deep enough.
I would not recommend this motel. It is far from an Inn.
- Mary (8/5): - This is a wonderful place to stay in the Ennis area. The rooms are very clean and spacious. Amenities are plentiful. Back porch is a nice touch. The only negative was the air freshener smell. The terrible fire that destroyed the restaurant last year is most likely the reason for this. Hopefully it won’t last…
- SUSAN (10/5): - Beautiful views from back patio, open screened windows, good bed, laundry facilities.
- Keith (8/5): - Our room was very clean. TV remote did not work to change channels. Outside, our walkway was not clean and
door mat was filthy.
- Jeffrey (10/5): - The room was very nice. We had planned to eat at the restaurant and bar. It would be nice if the website had been updated to show that it had burned down and is no longer available.
- Fran (10/5): Cabin life - Great old motel. Felt like a woodsy cabin. Well maintained and nicely stocked. Remote check in very responsive to inquiries and request for more towels. Comfortable temperature controls.
Would have liked a complimentary breakfast. Wish there was a full length mirror.
- Michael (10/5): - It was beautifully done and spacious and a great view!
- Sonya (6/5): - It was quiet, easy parking. No amenities. Vending machine was broken, so no snacks. Ceiling fan was squeaky and vanity lights were not working, no on to tell because it was a virtual office. No one on site.
It was the closest place to stay for Norris hot springs. Over all, not bad for the price.
- Terri (10/5): Excellent stay! - Excellent stay, beautiful room, very clean and comfortable! We loved the outside patio with picnic table, table and chairs! Don’t be put off by the outside appearance…it doesn’t look like much from the outside, but the room was excellent! 👍
- Christina (10/5): - Quiet getaway
- Kim (10/5): - Great little place to stay! I love the rooms! They are clean and comfortable!
- angela (10/5): - The place is amazing. Bed was a little hard. Very quiet.
- Ty (10/5): - This is a beautiful property. The rooms are fabulous, the area is safe, easy parking for a truck and trailer.
- Steve (2/5): - Assigned room was occupied. Management made good by booking me in a nearby motel at the same rate
- audrey (6/5): - Worn appearance. No breakfast as stated.
- radiostubbs (6/5): Nice- Quiet- Small - We booked the Inn so we could enjoy the restaurant too, but it was closed. They never told us that on the phone. Other than that it's a cute place. Good location. We ate across the street at Amelia's Italian Restaurant which was very good. It was quieter than the Sportsman's Inn 6 miles away( stayed there last year) which we appreciated.
- Brett (10/5): - Nice clean place
- Kevin (8/5): - The hotel was fine. I didn’t like that Expedia charged me more than the hotel. I’m never going to use Expedia again!!!! This is the second time this has happened! They are scamming customers!!!!!
- Christina (10/5): - Wonderful - loved the room, decor. It was clean, dog friendly and affordable. Would stay here again!
- Lawrence (10/5): - Beautiful property in a scenic and serene area. Love the accessibility of the back door for ease of walking dogs. Nice sized rooms tastefully decorated with a comfortable bed.
- Mary (10/5): - Beautiful location and property,! Clean, quiet, and peaceful! Highly recommend! We will definitely cone back again!!
- Roger (8/5): - remote operation
- Blaze (10/5): - Overall stay was great. About an hour away from Bozeman (bigger city to do stuff). Check in time was limited to two hours and did have to call to check in due to them working remote. However, they were respectful and helpful. Very clean area, and plenty of room. Sitting area outside back door was a bonus. Would stay here again.
- Daniel (10/5): - We stayed here as we traveled through Yellowstone National Park. There is a steakhouse on the property that was unfortunately closed for a few days but there is an Italian restaurant right across the street that was very good. I would recommend this place to stay.
- Cari (10/5): - Very peaceful, out in the country
- Karrie (10/5): - What a gem! We stayed here on our way to Yellowstone but I'd come back just to spend a few days here.
The property was very clean, well appointed, very quiet. You have your own patio out back, overlooking the Madison River Valley and mountains.
It's a short 5 minute drive into town for groceries, food, etc.
Would highly recommend and stay here again for sure.
- Kristynn (10/5): - This was the best place we have stayed at this summer. we were so happy when we got here. check-in was easy, the room was so spacious. loved the cover patio out the back door, beautiful view.
- Madalyn (10/5): - We always love staying here. Great value for the price. Gorgeous setting
- Paul (10/5): - The room was immaculate and the details of the room’s construction was impeccable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great place to stay. Remote rental so no contact in person. Everything was as promised
- Tiffany (10/5): - Super cute and clean.
- Eric (10/5): - Very nice room. Comfortable
- Jacob (8/5): - The room was really nice other that there were no plates or cutlery available despite there being a cutting board and microwave. Other than that one thing i would recommend
- Alexandra (10/5): - Staff was wonderful and communicated well. Enjoyed the view and was impressed with the room and size of it. Beds were comfortable and location was great.
- Skylar (10/5): - Virtual check in was very convenient as we were getting in late-great communication from the property as well.
- Mary (8/5): - I like the decor
- Alysa (10/5): - Rooms were very spacious! Very accommodating for families with pets. They even have a large gated area for dogs to walk around in.
- Paula (10/5): - On the outside this moyel looks dated. The inside of our room was wonderful, large, clean and modern. The bathroom was large with a great walk in shower.
- Denise (10/5): - The hotel room was very large and had a kitchenette. Bring your own dishes and cutlery. The hotel was our base for exploring the area (Virginia City, Nevada City and Yelllowstone). The restaurant on site has delicious dinners (open just a few nights a week). This was our favourite hotel on our road trip!
- Erica (10/5): - My family and I loved this room. It was quite large and clean. Had everything we could possibly need. The view is phenomenal. Beds were comfy. Large shower. Keyless entry.
- Edward (10/5): - Very nice clean hotel . Would definitely stay again .
- Michelle (8/5): - Staff was very helpful. The code for the room didn't work well but the manager quickly adressed the problem. The private patio, large room combined with the view made this an excellent choice.
- Joan (10/5): Peace and beauty - we have stayed here multiple times because it is a little slice of heaven. It is quiet, clean and comfortable and the views are breathtaking. It is a short drive down to the lake, a short drive into Ennis and beyond.
- Ross (8/5): - The property is just as advertised, we enjoyed the quiet setting, rustic charm, ammenities, and comfortable bed. We had repeated issues with the door entry codes but the staff were responsive and helpful. We will keep McAllister Inn on our places to recommend list!
- Annette (2/5): - Very bad experience, room was not cleaned from the person that was there the previous night manager said would credit for whole stay however DID NOT…
- Tammi (10/5): - The room was clean and large, but we were there in off season and the only ones staying at the property. We loved the Italian place across the highway.
- Sherri (10/5): - I have stayed here several times and it is a great place. Highly recommend.
- Kim (10/5): - I really enjoyed the attention to detail. It is clean and have the amenities to enjoy the stay. Love the patio. We will be back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great place to stay as always!
- Alyssa (10/5): - We loved our stay here! Just make sure you call ahead if you’re arriving after the office is closed to check in, but otherwise it was a super cute room with lots of space & everything we needed! Definitely would stay again.
- Kory (8/5): Probably terrific in-season. - Very comfortable lodging, very nice room. Traveling offseason, but it would have been much better to have in-person service. The lock-box with room codes was disappointing, as the first room I was directed to was already occupied when I entered the room. Cold and tired from the road, it was a struggle to get situated over the phone. Once in my actual room, though, I was happy with the situation.
- jim (10/5): - AWESOME AS USUAL CAN NOT WAIT TO COME BACK!
- John (10/5): very classy rest. - Incredibly nice and clean. A luxury chalet feel. Wish the salon and steakhouse was open during my stay. Would have loved to try it.
- Daniel (6/5): - My wife and I like to come and stay here for a night to celebrate our anniversary and visit the nearby hot springs. It's reasonable relative other hotels in similar areas and the rooms are nice.
Our stay was a bit off this time around, with the room smelling like marijuana when we checked in. We aired it out as best we could and otherwise had no problems. The middle drawer of the dresser had some left over items in it and I ended up with a free pair of new socks.
Check in was easy, it was just a phone call and an access code. Wifi works fine and heater is excellent. The bed is on the harder side, so if you're a back sleeper it will feel great, but if you like to sleep on your side, you might need to adjust your pillows. I do recommend bringing an extra pillow or two, as I found theirs a bit small, but your mileage may vary on that one.
Parking is accessible, being right out front of your room. There's a restaurant/bar combo across the parking lot, or you can head elsewhere to eat. With a microwave and fridge in the room, you can bring additional items or leftovers with you and store them at your leisure.
I'm sure we'll be back again, hopefully with no additional 420 smell. I don't mind the free socks, though.
- Annette (8/5): - It's a beautiful property, very comfortable for us. The check-in system leaves much to be desired. There is no one around for late check-in, we didn't get an email with a code to retrieve our key after hours and the secondary phone number that was listed didn't answer or call back. We relied on another guest arriving after we did to allow us to get our key. If they hadn't arrived I don't think we could have gotten into our room.
- brandin (10/5): - Loved our stay here. Gorgeous views. Super clean and large rooms.
- Philip (8/5): - Our primary concern related to check in. It was all by email and left us with questions / issues that made access to our room more difficult than it should have been. The code they gave us to the door worked sometimes and not on others. Fortunately, the physical key they gave us for the back door off the patio allowed us to get in when the code on the main door lock didn't work.
- Cheni (8/5): - Lock box access. No problem 😉
- Pam (10/5): - Very clean and lots of room!!! Restaurant in walking distance.
- Whisler (10/5): - Clean! The “mud room” area at the front door is a great idea for muddy & wet outdoor clothing & getting the dog situated. Nice little “office corner”. Love the back door with private picnic table & lawn chairs & beautiful view. Hot, hot water for shower. Contactless check in was easy. Really above average at a reasonable price.
- Debra (10/5): Better than expected - The room was huge and comfortable. Had everything we needed. Decorated very rustic.
- margarethQ490CE (10/5): Wonderful and spacious - By far the most enjoyable stay on our 16 day road trip. We made this our base for Yellowstone and Virginia, City. We entered Yellowstone from West Yellowstone entrance. Whoever built this small Inn did a remarkable job. So NOT let the appearance fool you. The rooms are larger than my first apartment, I kid you not. It has a back door also with your own private patio complete with picnic table and chairs. The cows and random prong horns greeted us each morning from our back patio. Bed were comfortable. The room was already cooled when we arrived and had so many conveniences that are often not available in hotel rooms. It was.like having a small cabin, vaulted pine wood ceilings with ceiling fan, lights with dimmer switches, lots of hooks in the bathroom along with a small kitchen area complete with a sink, microwave and coffee maker. We missed this roomy stay as we progressed on our trip. Nothing compared to this in size, convince and price!!! Thank you McAlister Inn. Oh and the cafe in Ennis is awesome, better that the Ennis Soda Fountain eatery.
- Mark (10/5): - It is a unique hotel because it had two doors. The badk door leads to a patio with a picnic table.
It appeared to be an older hotel, but the interior wss complete remodeled and was very modern and beautiful and clean. The bed was very comfortable. We had a great stay there.
- brucewN3653MN (2/5): Worst Service Ever, very expensive and very disappointing. - There was nobody on site from the hotel the whole time we were there. WE received a last minute text telling us a lock box combination to get our key. There was no coffee in the coffee tray for the morning. The coffee pot was half full from a previous guest. The individual lotion bottles and shampoo and rinse bottles were, used by a previous guest as well, and left in our room. Thankfully the sheets did seem to be changed. Our friends who occupied an additional room also had similar problems. It was very expensive and very disappointing.
- Kristie (10/5): - This lodge is beautiful! We enjoyed sitting on the porch in peace and quiet facing the stunning mountains! If you love small town living this is the place for you! We definitely will be back!!
- MaryAnne (10/5): Completely worth the stop - A hidden gem. A true relaxation tucked nicely away from busy towns and cities. It seems they thought of everything.
Restaurant on property a touch expensive for my taste but the food was amazing.
Only downside is never one time seeing anyone on the property. Everything done via email and phone calls. I’m not sure about that.
- MarshaH503 (10/5): Best stay of our 3 week roadtrip. - Absolutely perfect accommodations! So clean, spacious and well appointed. Staff is so friendly and rooms so comfortable we stayed an extra night. Bed was very comfortable, loved the guest laundry area and the beautiful private back porches. The adjoining Steakhouse and Bar are not to be missed! Wonderful waitstaff and the food was world class. Wish I could give more than 5 stars for McAllister Inn!
- Pam (6/5): A lovely place - With the STELLAR rating in the reviews, i was GENUINELY looking forward to a nicer dinner (a glass or 2 of wine), not having to drive back to our room, and that lovely view to cap off our trip, after an 18+ hour drive. HOWEVER, it wasn't meant to be. 1) No one was on site upon arrival. 2) Restaurant and Bar were closed (You may want to put that in your promo that the restaurant/bar is closed Mon-Tues). 3) Proably the BIGGEST disappointment...the guests in the room next to us took it upon themselves to move their porch furniture to the grass area in front of OUR ROOM and VIEW, and stayed there enjoying their dinner (and gorgeous sunset)while we were left with no view to even enjoy. I felt cheated.
