Guest Reviews
- Craig (10/5): Peaceful Rural Retreat - Was a really peaceful place to stay. There were basic supplies throughout the property, making arriving late in the evening really easy. It was very warm and cosy. The kitchen is well stocked with equipment and crockery. Would highly recommend if planning exploring the whole of Northern Ireland.
- Melanie (10/5): - Avoca lodge was comfortable, clean and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay there.

- Tony (9/5): I highly recommend this property it’s a very comfortable clean house. - It was clean and very well equiped . Comfy beds
- Samantha (9/5): Met our family needs perfectly and you can see a lot of care goes into the property. - Lovely property with all we needed for our family stay, warm (with controllable thermostat), comfy beds and good showers! The lighting in the kitchen felt a little dim while preparing food and washing up. Rest of property light and bright.
- S Welsby (10/5): - Absolutely amazing stay, perfect for what we needed it for. As a touring band gigging in Belfast it's the perfect place to get away from the busy city.
Its clean and very comfortable. Nothing, it's perfect
- Ronald Mark (9/5): Cosy place - with lots of room - Great size and and kitchen area - parking at the front door -less than 5 min drive to Hillsborough Would have liked a dryer so you could wash and then dry clothes that would have been fantastic
- Ms (10/5): Li and hubby is so good, great communication, had the best three nights and very warm house in these cold winters. - Beautiful, comfortable, clean, home friendly, easy to tidy up. So much space. Can’t wait to rebook it. Location is good and close to every amenities you would need with a car. Nothing at all
- Robyn (10/5): Our hosts were very friendly and accommodating. Avoca Lodge is the perfect hideaway. - The countryside setting was just idyllic with small stores in nearby villages to meet every need. The house is so spacious with very comfortable beds and soft linens. Bonus Xmas decorations made for a homey touch. Nothing.
- Peter (9/5): - Avoca Lodge provided perfect accommodation for visiting family in Northern Ireland. We successfully had an "early" Christmas Day with the lodge easily accommodating 8 and a baby. The owner was very accommodating, allowing our son who lives nearby to drop off groceries in anticipation of our arrival. We arrived really late, and the owner was very understanding. We would highly recommend and definitely come back. Nothing, everything was great.
- Carmel (9/5): - Avoca Lodge is fully equipped with everything one needs. Amazing decor!!!! All good
- Karen (10/5): -
- Diane (9/5): Spacious, clean and comfortable. - Beautifully decorated. Everything you could possibly need. Very comfortable and clean. Nothing to dislike.
- Jane (10/5): Our stay was even better than expected! The house was spotless. - The location was perfect — really easy to get to our event and also convenient for restaurants and cafés in Hillsborough. - We were in a large van and it was easy to park at the property . Honestly, nothing really — the property was great and had everything we needed. It was just quite warm inside - I imagine most people would actually find the cosy warmth a plus!
- Sinead (10/5): - Beautiful house. Very clean and had everything you would need. Well equipped kitchen, very high spec.
Comfy beds and great showers.
Would highly recommend and will return. All good, no complaints.
- Simon (10/5): -
- Nicola M (10/5): Spacious and worth the money :) - It was on a quiet road, only a 5-10 minutes from lisburn centre. The house was spacious, clean and warm. Nothing.
- David (9/5): We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. - The property is spacious and accommodated an adult family of five and a small baby very well. Its location on the outskirts of Hillsborough is ideal for visiting the village, and also is only a short distance from Lisburn and access to Belfast by car. This is the second time we have stayed at this property. There is plenty of crockery and pots and pans for self catering. The host is very welcoming and accommodating. Our only comment for the future would be that we found that some of the pillows in the bedrooms were not very comfortable. A cafetière and a wok would be nice additions to the kitchen equipment.
- Jennifer (9/5): Suited us well, will come again. - Very spacious and comfortable. Host was polite and great at communicating.
- Susanne (9/5): -
- Marijke (8/5): Overall a pleasant stay but not very picturesque. - The facilities were very good, with everything you could need. All the bedding and curtains were really good quality. The house was located on a farm with farm buildings and machinery extremely close to the accomodation.
- William (9/5): Very relaxing in a beautiful property. - The property was really well equipped with everything wee could possibly need . It was really comfortable and clean . The area was quiet and beautiful and just a 5 minute drive from the centre of Hillsborough and just 20 mins to Belfast . Apart from pets not being allowed in the property I couldn’t fault it .
- Michelle (7/5): accommodation good, location is inaccurately described - Plenty of room inside, everything you need for your stay in the accommodation. The accommodations location is not where we expected it to be and when we arrived at the address and could not find the accommodation. I called the host. To which the host replied, there are two addresses the same and we were at the wrong one. This is not clear and should be advised of this before arrival. We ended up in the middle of the countryside with no facilities in a walkable distance. Although the host lived next door, they made no effort to introduce themselves or check were ok when we arrived after the mix-up of addresses. We were offered no apology.
- Janelle (9/5): Great and comfortable country retreat - We actually ended up staying in Tullynore Villa, which was brand new and huge. It had all the things you would like to have on a stay Large, clean, modern

Owner was very pleasant to deal with and came over to us to chat whenever he had the chance. nothing. it was fantastic.
- Melissa (9/5): Superb - Lovely house with every thing you need. When booking 6 months before staying checkout was 11am. At 10.10am the host arrived and asked when we are leaving, she said she changed the checkout time to 10am 2 months previous but I wasn't made aware of this change. I think she cha get the time on future bookings and not booking already made.

- Beata (10/5): My family had the best time ever. Thank you. - Terrific location and lovely, very cozy house! It had everything you could think of even more! Really fabulous use of space and lovely design. We enjoyed the stay and would highly recommend the place. Easy walking to the store or restaurants and nice distance to drive to the main attractions! We love our stay ! Exceptional!
- Brenda (10/5): Most excellent - The house is spacious with plenty of room for the six of us. The master with an en-suite was perfect and the 2nd bath upstairs worked perfectly for our extended family. Beds are large and comfy. The kitchen and dinning area can sit 6 to 8. The living room is an excellent place to relax after a day of touring. It’s a 5 minute drive to Hillsborough where there are option to shop, eat out, or tour the Castle. All round a gem. Your host is next door, so if u need assistant it close. Would have liked a coffee filter holder to make filtered coffee
- Stuart (9/5): Superb -
- Jenny (10/5): Comfortable, spacious, great attention to detail. - The house is lovely and the photos don't do it justice. It is spotlessly clean and very nicely decorated. It had everything you would need for a family stay and the kitchen was very well equipped, modern and easy to use. The property is very comfortable and spacious. We would definitely stay again next time we are in the area. We liked everything about the house. The only slight negatives were a bit of traffic noise at times and the smell of slurry outside, being near a farm, but the house itself was great.
- Rubeena (8/5): Lodge was 10/10 - location was 0/10 - all in all we would not rebook. - Very clean, spacious and warm. Location - was out in the sticks, no taxis would pick up and cost a BOMB to get out n about - terrible location.
- Liz (9/5): Superb -
