Location was excellent.
Décor was fitting for the property Safety light or strips needed on small step into bathroom.
Coat hook needed in shower for towels
The bed was right opposite the hall and main stairs. We could hear noise all night from other guests.

Hairdryer unusable because no socket available near enough to a mirror
Carpets grubby
Snug armchair with big chunk out the arm
Evening meal poor quality
Underlying bad smell in bedroom
T.v.remote batteries held in place with sellotape meaning difficulty operating the t.v.
Shower floor slippy when wet
- Bruce (9/5): Perfect small hotel in the centre of a beautiful village with parking opposite or around the back.. - Room on top floor was lovely and particularly enjoyed the deep bath after a long day driving. We ate in the bar, sneaking into the pizza deal before 6.30pm. Breakfast was excellent too with ample portions are well presented food. Staff great - attentive and helpful. Nothing!

- Laura- Jayne (8/5): Pleasant stuff clean and a beautiful room, thank you - I think the room was phenomenal was really pretty and it was just where we needed it to be We had it booked for the weekend, but there was a severe weather warning and was concerned it wasn’t within the 48 hour cancellation policy but felt like something could’ve been done. We didn’t want to lose the money. We just wanted to reschedule. Could there have been any leeway with this? But that was the only thing I would say would let us down without experience.

Excellent meals and breakfast. Common parts need redecorating - carpet to bedroom, wallpaper in dining area - some staff could have looked smarter and been a bit more polite perhaps ?

- Jayne (10/5): Very pleasant hotel and hardworking staff. Evening meal/breakfast was superb. Comfy beds. - The size of our room (11) was perfect. Lovely views from the windows. I left a few items of clothing in our room and the reception phoned me and I had only just set off so returned to the hotel to collect my items I had left in the wardrobe!!!
The breakfast was excellent, our evening meal on Friday was superb. We have been coming here for 12 years now and really enjoy KL. There was nothing I didnt like and nothing I could think of to be improved.
- Kevin (8/5): Enjoyable, restful and with a superb lebel if service - particular shout out to Melissa who nade the whole stay just that - Location, ambience and feel - staff were excellent food very fine and generally an enjoyable and positive experience - would certainly stay here agsin Decor and furnishings felt a little tired and dated eg 2x really comfortable wing back fireside chairs in the room but both had tears to the arms with stuffing sticking out.no hooks for coats dressing gowns etc minor irritations compensated fir by the staff and general feel if the hotel

- Carol (10/5): Easy access to the town - Central Prefer a larger bed
- dunn (8/5): Enjoyable - Locations Style
- Angela (9/5): Great location, friendly staff definitely would recommend- thank you - Location Nothing
- Dave (8/5): Lovely again but… - Lovely people at the Royal. Cumbrian breakfast was excellent as was the bar for drinks in the evening! Pillows needed to be a lot more substantial for a better quality sleep! Had to fold one in half!! We stayed in room 12 this time so to balance it was just an overnight stay and we have been to the hotel previously. The Royal feels like it needs an update in some rooms in the near future but I’m sure this needs to be balanced by the cost. Mould on the bathroom ceiling needed removing, stain blocking then repainting.
- STEPHEN PHILIP (8/5): Balloon ride - The area is stunning
Hotel is good Bed was not very comfortable,
- A Philip (8/5): A classic market town hote with friend staff and a good breakfast offering, in a great location. - Easy check-in, friendly staff and a lovely old market town hotel, well renovated and cared for.
The room was very generously sized, and we loved the underfloor heating in the bathroom!
Breakfast was very good on the whole, perhaps more fresh fruit would be a worthwhile addition? Some of the seats in the breakfast area were not ideal for us.
Some people may not like the dog-friendly policy?
Lack of car parking was not an issue to us on this occasion, but is worth bearing in mind.
- Gary (10/5): Great - Clean and very quiet Nothing
- Veronica (7/5): - Staff lovely very hard working did long hrs always pleasant Some things just strange tiramasu on memnu nut was actually the chefs take on it weird didnt even resemble deconstructed tiramasue what a shame and wasnt stated as not a tiramasue

- Janette (8/5): Lovely weekend break in this comfortable & convenient hotel - Lovely hotel, large comfortable room. Great breakfast. Really good location but no parking at hotel. Parking was difficult and expensive.
Great service at breakfast one day not so good the next day.
Shower not draining properly but was being investigated
- Valerie (6/5): Disappointing didn't live up to expectations for the price. - Breakfast was good. Wasn't happy with the square bath.... difficult to get in and out of or the static shower head.
Extractor fan didn't work in the bathroom.
Internet didn't work.
- Carol (6/5): - Location is handy. Rooms are tired, its not a bath its a stand in tub too dangerous to use if you want a shower. Pillows are past it.
- Perry (9/5): Really great place centrally located in a lovely little town - recommend it! - Very well appointed and decorated. Nice to have a lift in an older property too. Staff really friendly and helpful. Breakfast excellent. Windows in the room quite drafty but they may be limited by what they can do if listed. An additional heater was provided which was a nice touch. Might be helpful if they provided permits for people parking their car.

- Fabian H. (9/5): Top! - Wir lieben so alte, traditionelle Hotels. Das schöne alte wurde mit Liebe erhalten und restauriert. Dennoch alles sauber und komfortabel. Hervorragendes Frühstück. Sehr freundlich.
- Jacqueline (8/5): - Lovely hotel, gorgeous room Bathroom was cold, no heating in there. A couple of members of staff were curt, but others friendly
- James (10/5): A quick overnight stop - Good Breakfast, Great location in center of town.

- Mike (9/5): -
- Andy (10/5): Comfortable clean rooms, we had four rooms in total with us all. Each different and had great facilities. Good food in t - Superb rooms, excellent reception desk host. Very accommodating Nothing, it was great
- Kevin (10/5): - Fantastic service from all the team. Great experience
- Tim (4/5): Great location let down by lack of sleep. - The location is fantastic as I love Kirkby Lonsdale, dining areas are proper old school class. Soundproofing of the room was very poor, as we were located above reception we could hear the banging of the front door every time it was shut this happened throughout the night with people coming and going letting their dogs out. We were offered another room but this was still above reception meaning due to the lack of soundproofing would have had the same issue. Bought earplugs for the second night to try and help.
- Nicola (10/5): Beautiful traditional hotel in the heart of picturesque Kirkby Lonsdale. - Gorgeous tradition hotel and restaurant with lovely attentive staff. Bang in the centre of Kirkby Lonsdale overlooking market square. The rooms are beautiful and all different. The breakfast is made to order, fresh and delicious. We have stayed here a few times now and always enjoy our stay immensely. Highly recommended! I asked for a latte at breakfast and was told it was an extra charge.
- John (10/5): -
- david (10/5): Very comfortable and pleasant stay - I always enjoy staying at the Royal, been coming for many years, staff are always ultra helpful, thank you Mike for being on hand, but also the bar staff. The weather!

- Louise (10/5): Lovely hotel with FANTASTIC breakfasts! - Great location and lovely room with a nice view. Main highlight was the FANTASTIC breakfast! Slightly noisy with bottle recycling in the morning - but this didn't bother us.
- Iona (9/5): -
- Hannah (8/5): Clean, comfortable, central hotel. - Great central location. Clean & comfortable room. Pleasant friendly staff. Tasty breakfast. We stayed in room 6. Above our room was a little noisy. Creaky floorboards and possibly a water pump above? It didn’t spoil the stay though.
- Anne-Marie (8/5): It was a great stay for a great wedding. - The decor and the breakfast was good as was the location. The shower in room 8 was amazing! The door didn’t feel secure as I would have liked.
- Robert (9/5): -
- Brian (8/5): - Great location, parking close by.
- Gemma (6/5): Love it but tired - Great location, lovely staff rooms looking more than tired though. Mold in bathrooms, well due a refurb.
- louise (10/5): - Wonderful breakfast
- Ellen (8/5): excellent base for walking - Breakfast was excellent ,There was plenty of choice to suit everybody
Room was good size and very comfortable bed
Staff really friendly and helpful Plastic plant in bathroom needed a good wash and the bathroom window could do with a wipe down
- ANNE-MARIE (9/5): -
- Helen (8/5): -
- Darren (10/5): Fantastic Hotel - Loved everything about this hotel. First time we have stopped here after visiting Kirkby Lonsdale on many occasions. Breakfast was excellent.
Will definitely stay again.
- Andrew (8/5): No complaints, breakfast good - Central location No properly dedicated dinner area for guests
- William (10/5): -

- Joanne (10/5): - Everything - clean, friendly, great ambience. Breakfast quick, good menu with cereal juices offered. All good Nothing everything was spot on.
- WENDY (9/5): -
- Helen (10/5): Lovely staff- great breakfast - Lovely staff- nice room - went out of their way to help Would have like a room away from ramp in garden but I will ask for that next time- room smelt a bit - number 5
- Sue (10/5): Charming location and excellent services and staff. - Breakfast was delicious and the room had everything we needed. Maybe a nice armchair would have been nice to watch tv or read.
- Alan (7/5): -
- Graham (10/5): Excellent, lovely for a relaxing getaway,we’ll be back. - Excellent location, good breakfast. Nothing really, but you can only buy a three day parking ticket without having to keep “feeding the meter”, whereas some places in Kirby offer a parking permit included in the hotel price, which saves over£21,just a thought.
- wendy (10/5): Exceptional Hotel - The hotel was central, lovely comfortable rooms beautifully presented. The food was first class and delicious, both dinner and breakfast. The staff were wonderful, welcoming, attentive and friendly. We will definitely be back and this time we'll bring our dog. Thank you so much for a pleasurable stay The only downside is the parking, the hotel doesn't have its own carpark but there is a pay and display in front of the hotel and it is very reasonable. Otherwise nothing we didn't like!
