Guest Reviews
- Deborah (10/5): Perfect! - Felt like home. Nothing
- ROBERT (9/5): Good place to stay -
- Todd (7/5): -
- James (2/5): Couldn't wait to get out of there. - the view of the river form the deck was nice, but you couldn't sit and enjoy it - the chairs were filthy the room had not been vacuumed. the table was sticky. the deck furniture was covered with moldy looking something. There was no hand soap. The lamp on the dresser had no knob on it to turn it on. i have never stayed in a dirtier place - ever.

- samuel (9/5): Very enjoyable and romantic stay stepping back in time - It felt like staying in a place of antiquity where the walls whisper stories. It is set in a picturesque setting by a river. An enjoyable property to walk around. The staff were polite and answered all of our questions. I found is enjoyable, but note that it is old building which gives the stay charm but also creaking floorboards and perhaps the bed. It never bothered us. It has a nice feel to it. I would have stayed another night if we didn't have to press on. Not much could have been better. It was a good stay. But note that it is an older building with older furnishings that may not work up to perfect expectations. :-)
- Linda (8/5): -
- Ellen (10/5): We enjoyed our stay and would stay again when in the area! - Very cozy and friendly staff!
- Matthew (9/5): enjoyed our stay anad would do so again. - The staff was friendly and informative. The property was easy to get to and convenient to town. They have a restaurant on site, breakfast and dinner was excellent. The room was clean and quiet.
- Chris (9/5): Great old style B&B - The room itself was big and comfortable, and the common areas mostly charming (with seasonal decor - we were there in fall) especially the lounges. Breakfast is good. Overall v good vfm. Rooms weren't cleaned during stay and the bar wasn't at all cosy (and very chilly!). Dinner was inexpensive, but not particularly good. Handy as the only place you don't have to drive too though!
- Huimin (9/5): -
- Jean (5/5): We enjoyed the staff and the meals were good but I wouldn't come back. Sorry - The meals were excellent !! It was very outdated and there was no TV in the bedroom.
- Bill (8/5): Good stay!! - The Inn was located in a nice area and the room was very comfortable and quiet.
Breakfast and dinner were both tasty and worth it, not having to drive anywhere. Service was excellent. The stairs to the 2nd floor were a bit to negotiate.
The jetted tub has a high lip and may be difficult for some seniors.
- Steve (8/5): - Nice breakfast and view Nothing
- Karen (2/5): - Was very old and cluttered.
- Julie (10/5): - Sarah is great!! Super cute place! Great shower! Great bed! Great breakfast! I'd stay there again in a heartbeat! Thank you!
- Judy (10/5): - The Wayside inn has character. Rooms was spacious, well appointed, lively decor. Staff very friendly. Restaurant very good.
- Dave (8/5): - This is an older bed and breakfast hotel. Charming and antique. The staff was so nice and friendly. The breakfast was great. Sitting out by the river with the fall charm was magical.
- TRACY (7/5): - Most of the staff was cheerful. Restaurant was convenient. Room was old and dated.
- lester (6/5): - breakfast was very good
- Martha (9/5): Wonderful 😍 - Location 🥰 Nothing 😄
- Charish (8/5): - The staff are very friendly. Thank you for being pet friendly
- Charles (8/5): - Great location
- Hug (3/5): - Good Beds need replacement. Cobwebs on ceiling. No tv or fridge in the room. A bit cluttered.
- Penelope (8/5): -
- joe (8/5): -
- Pamela (8/5): - We were looking for something convenient for both exploring Mount Washington and The Kanc areas, so this was perfect, right on route 302. Cute historical inn right on the river, with its own restaurant. Food was excellent. The rooms are “quaint”. The floorboards and bed springs a little squeaky, but room was very clean. Comfortable.
- RICHARD (10/5): - Room was spacious and very clean. Lovely window view on fall trees. Bed was a little lumpy for us but may be just fine for others.
Lovely historic inn. We will be back!
- Karen (8/5): Clean, great breakfast and quiet that was close to beautiful drives. - Charming out of the way. I thought we would be staying in the main Inn, we were in the building next door.
- Margaret (10/5): - Clean room, very helpful staff, good breakfast!
- Dan (8/5): - Hotel staff was wonderful. Room was overall clean but going through renovations. Lady bugs were very active in the area. Location on the river was peaceful. Bar tender and Manager were awesome as my wife had hurt her back and they were very accommodating with helping get ice, meals and beverages. Dinner was great! TV was a challenge as the cable did not work and had to stream MLB payoffs.
- Patricia (10/5): - Beautiful place
- Pratik (10/5): - Everything was fantastic
- Chelsea (10/5): -
- Marie (2/5): - The room we had was not ideal. The bathroom sink was not attached securely. I could not get the shower to work and no tv in room.
Beds were not comfortable. This was in the Inn not the Annex.
- Dianna (6/5): - The balcony view was scenic. Overall, just average. Rooms are dated, refrigerator didn't work, beds weren't comfortable. Breakfast was included but we didn't stay as we had family staying elsewhere so I can't judge or comment. It did look like they were in the process of doing some work on the building (we were in the annex).
- Flavia (10/5): A beautiful and historical place to stay! - Such a beautiful and historical place! They have such a great staff. It needs some updates.
- Suheyla (10/5): - Friendly staff, clean room, nice balcony and river view. Facility is little old, but it was clean. The location is very nice in nature.
- Betsy (8/5): - Lovely breakfast over looking the river
- Phillip (8/5): - Very friendly family run, lovely riverside location, large comfortable room, friendly bar for a drink and food in the evening, convenient for Bethlehem with shops and restaurants, very convenient for Mount Washington and the Cog Railway We had to abandon breakfast the morning we were booked on the 10am Cog Railway up Mount Washington as the breakfast service was very slow
- Kally (10/5): - Absolutely an adorable Inn on the river.
- Savannah (6/5): - The room was clean and had a beautiful view from our balcony.
- Gary (8/5): - Very relaxing here
- Brittany (10/5): Can't beat it - Room was clean, view was amazing, staff was friendly and transparent. Breakfast was delicious with a view. Overall a great stay!
- Mark (8/5): - Quaint place, good breakfast
- travelisfun2011 (4/5): Disappointed - I wanted to like this place so much. The people were very nice but the room…. We were suppose to have a room that over looked the river. That didn’t happen. The room we got had a jet tub so I thought that would be a good substitute for the no river view. The jets didn’t work. There was really no one to call except for emergencies. The bed squeaked at every turn. The pillows were flat as pancakes. I would have told people this on check out but no one was at the desk. The view from the restaurant was amazing and so was the food.
- TAMMY (6/5): - Comfortable bed and temperature. Left too early for breakfast and coffee in the room would have been convenient.
- Lindsay (7/5): Ok gor a night but not really a place for us - It had a charm. Very old fashioned which we didn’t mind too much, but could be improved. Breakfast was ok. Bed quite comfortable No curtains to draw at window. Only net and half a fixed thin curtain. Tatty window. No TV though pictures in room we booked showed one. Creaky uneaven floors. They probably can’t help that as old building but it woke us up in the night if one got up. Some noise from other guests in the morning. It rained so we could hear big lorries on the road. They told us coffee and water station in reception area available. It was all there with a jug for water, but it never had any water in it. No water in the room. Never offered water. Building work going on outside but not noisy. We didn’t see many staff. Just someone to show us to our room and that was it. No guided tour, only to say where breakfast was. Breakfast lady was nice.
- Anna (6/5): - Facility was nice and clean. The inside appears out dated with wallpaper peeling off in many rooms including common area rooms, as well as water leak stains on the ceiling tiles. the furniture appeared to be older. Our bed was INCREDIBLY loud and squeaky and you felt every single movement your partner made due the to mattress being incredibly bouncy. The house over all has a very old farm feel.
We did visit the restaurant for dinner which was sadly disappointing. The dining room is very out dated and rather empty feeling. I ordered the shrimp and zucchini noodle dinner which was very bland and watery and much over priced for what was presented. The breakfast is included in your stay and the food itself is yummy however the service was not great. Our waitress brought out coffee to two tables that placed their order after us before I had to ask if we could get ours. She was very unfriendly when I asked and when she returned MANY minutes later with our coffee she placed it on our table with and when I said thank you to her she had no response and walked away.
Overall I’m not sure we would stay here again
- Debra (9/5): The only thing I would have liked is a more comfortable mattress - It was delicious The mattress was a little hard on my back.
- Nicholas (10/5): - Sarah was great. Probably the best hotel breakfast I’ve ever had because it’s cooked fresh to order and not just the continental slop that you get at most places.
- Selden (10/5): - Breakfast was good, in a beautiful spot
- DAVID (10/5): - Although the inn is old it’s still a beautiful place. It seems the bathrooms has been remodeled and they’re in the process of redoing the decks on the back next to the river. The restaurant was never crowded and the food was always delicious
- Helen (10/5): EXCELLENT - BEATIFUL PLACE, FREINDLY STAFF. DOG ENJOYED IT AS WELL
- Marilyn (6/5): - The property and building itself was very nice. The house was a beautiful old country farmhouse with unique route. The rug and our king size bedroom. Was in poor condition and the?
Rubber safety Mat in the tub was scuzzy. And there were no handrails to assist getting into a very high-sided old-fashioned tub.. The bed was very stiff and uncomfortable And the room itself had a very musty smell. Staff was friendly and helpful.
- Robin (8/5): - Very friendly staff. Convenient restaurant. Bathroom elevtrical outlets did not work. Noisy dogs in nearby room.
- Rodrigo (10/5): - Great breakfast!
- Dale (6/5): - This inn is a vintage lodging experience. The rooms in the main building are somewhat renovated but maintain a vintage antique styling. Rooms do not have television in them but WIFI works well. Some rooms have claw foot cast iron tubs that makes for a slightly cramped showering experience. The breakfast offers a number of options and each is freshly prepared for the guest which is excellent. The staff are very hospitable, and accommodating.
- Stephen (10/5): - Wonderful place for a getaway in beautiful surroundings
- Donald (10/5): - Clean room, good amenities, great people & owners.
- Lori (10/5): - The owner was so accommodating and the place is very well equipped. Would definitely stay here again!
- MELINDA (10/5): - I love staying at the Inn. I love the bar/restaurant. The people are kind and friendly. My only complaint is the beds -- they are not comfy and do need to be replaced.
- Kristin (10/5): Always great! - They are wonderful at Wayside. Room was very clean. Bed comfortable! Rhonda is always so friendly checking you in.
- Theerthanker Reddy (10/5): - It was a decent stay
- Jessica (3/5): - The furniture downstairs was very old. We almost fell through the couch upon sitting down; there was no cushion whatsoever. The room smelled a bit musty, and there were stains on the towels. Beds were hard.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great value for money, and plenty of charm - This is a lovely, charming, and comfortable inn, and is easily recommend it. It provides a great value for price compared with many other inns. The location is perfect. The staff was friendly. The breakfasts and dinners were tasty.
Our room looked out right over the roof, so our particular view wasn’t amazing, but we could see some mountains, and it was good enough. What’s the point of going to NH if you’re going to spend time in your room anyway? And if you eat in the restaurant, you are right next to a delightful stream with hummingbirds flitting around, depending on the season.
The bed was a bit soft for me, but I slept pretty hard on it on my last night, so it must have been fine. The furniture in common rooms has seen better days, but it’s an old, charming inn, and all is about as expected.
We had a really terrific stay, and would happily stay again.
- Linda (10/5): - Was a great place to stay and would anytime again
- Ann (9/5): We would return but request a downstairs room. - Historic house. Clean rooms and personable staff outside grounds lovely. Nice to have dinner there and the breakfast was included. Rickety steep staircase to the upstairs rooms
- Lori (8/5): - Was very clean. Beautiful scenery. Very quiet. Good breakfast included. Would definitely go back.
- Francois (10/5): - Exactly as described
Loved it
- Jeffrey (10/5): Excellent Place to Stay - Everything about this stay was great. The room was very comfortable and clean. We had dinner here and it was very good. The staff was friendly and professional. There are some great places to walk outside. Overall, a great place to stay and I would highly recommend it.
- Leslie (10/5): - .
- Ruby (10/5): - The property is beautiful and we enjoyed eating our breakfast next to the river. Our room was very nice and clean and staff was kind and helpful.
- Kellie (10/5): - Very charming
- Judith (10/5): - Will definitely stay here again. We recommend
eating dinner at the hotel. If possible get a room overlooking the river. Nice location and dog friendly.
- Sarah (10/5): - This is a quaint, historic inn and has the antique furniture and period wallpaper to give the proper ambience. Sarah Levy, the innkeeper, was terrific, the food was excellent, and I loved being able to look out the windows of the diningroom to watch the hummingbirds, other birds (black-backed woodpecker!) and stream. Lovely and relaxing-- just what I was seeking.
- beachbumjan (10/5): Love this inn! - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this historic inn! Love the quirkiness with all the antiques and comfortable places to sit and relax, whether inside or out. The room was very comfortable, the shower was great and everything was very clean. We had a great breakfast - not the typical motel breakfast at all! Would definitely stay again and highly recommend! (They are pet friendly)
- Yosef (8/5): - Place is old but well maintained very clean and a lot of space
We enjoyed it
- april (10/5): - This property is great if you are looking for an Inn right on the river to lull you to sleep. Where bald eagles and osprey fly by while you are eating a delicious homemade breakfast. Swim in the river or just sit and cool your feet. The pierce bridge is a local icon that is within walking distance. The beds are comfy. The people are welcoming. It’s just a really nice place that I will be back to.
- Felicia (8/5): - The property was beautiful. The beds were a little uncomfortable
- Karen (8/5): - Staff was wonderful and gracious. We made the mistake of booking the annex where they allow dogs. Someone left a tied up plastic bag baggie with poop under the outdoor stairs in the annex. It was still there a day later when we left. They would do better to not allow dogs for the cleanliness and enjoyment of other patrons. Interior rooms in the annex are clean but very worn and old and in need of a paint job.
- Zang (6/5): - The rooms and bathrooms could use updating. We loved the location on the river. Breakfast was great and staff too.
- Paul (10/5): - Wayside was clean comfortable and quiet and the breakfast was great
- David (9/5): -
- Katsiaryna (10/5): - Riverside spectacular view. Owner put a lot of love into flowers around. Old, well maintained and clean property, has its own charm. Super quiet. Nice options for fresh free brakfast.
- Ehud (7/5): -
- Alisher (10/5): - Nice place!
- Laura (10/5): - Quaint old hotel. Reminded me of the movie dirty dancing hotel era. Unplug, great free breakfast and super hospitality.
- Amanda (8/5): - Beautiful, well-maintained grounds in a great location and wonderful staff! Included breakfast was a treat! Overall room was clean but left a bit to be desired. Windowsills were dirty, some debris on the floor, and a few dead bugs. One of our room lamps was missing a light bulb. Water pressure was weak though temperature was good.
- Colleen (10/5): - The rooms were clean and inviting. The staff was awesome. We were especially happy with the service provided by Sarah, Rhonda, and Mariah. They made us feel right at home, and offered advice about things to do in the area. When I returned from a hike with a sprained ankle they were especially helpful.
- Deborah (10/5): - I didn’t give 5 stars to the staff because the dinner waitress acted like it was a waste of her time waiting on a single woman. She was friendly, ran through the specials and was attentive to all the other tables. Everyone else on staff at the Inn, including the breakfast waitress were wonderful and should be commended.
- Sarah (9/5): Thank you. - Location was stellar My open window allowed the running river to lull me to sleep all night.
- Deborah (7/5): Nice place, pleasant people, just need ti take care of a few room items. - Light bulbs in room lamps were missing.
Water pressure was bad for shower.
- Brian (10/5): - Just a cool, old school kind of inn. Staff was friendly and helpful, food was great. Reminds me of the type of place my mom would've brought me as a kid. We loved watching the hummingbirds and bees in the wildflowers outside of the dining room window as well as the view of the river. Would definitely recommend
- Verified traveler (10/5): Dog friendly riverside retreat. - I stayed in the annex with my dog. The units are a little dated but you are trading modernization for being able to have your dog with you. The room was clean, there is a giant field for dog walking, a coffee machine in the lobby, and the parking is easy. One thing is that you can't bring your dog to breakfast...
- Tiancheng (4/5): - Old mansion changed into hotel, all looks old
- Julie (10/5): - This is a quaint, cozy inn. No TVs in the rooms, but there was one in the common room. Beds were very comfortable. AC in the room worked great.On-site restaurant served, delicious, interesting entrées. All staff were friendly, courteous, efficient. The only comment would be that we left very early, so did not experience breakfast; however, we were told that there would be coffee and tea 24 hours, but there was no actual hot water for tea and had to heat in the microwave. Wish we had had more time to stay longer!
