Guest Reviews
- Gytis (10/5): Great location, great food, great people - My first time in Wales, I was lucky to meet such friendly people Nothing
- Mallard (6/5): Disappointing. - Very disappointing accommodation. Advertised as De-luxe room, far from it. Staff in the bar/restaurant were terrific. Room very poor. Food average, breakfast good but limited.
- Kenneth (10/5): - The staff always went the extra mile and the location and food waa excellant There was nothing to dislike
- J-D (10/5): -
- Steve (10/5): Excellent séjour mais trop court - Personnel très attentionné et serviable
Chambre très propre
Grand parking et excellent restaurant à prix très raisonnable
Excellent petit déjeuner anglais
Je recommande les yeux fermés RAS
- Simon (8/5): A fair deal and very good customer care - We were the only guests but the staff looked after us well and the room was spotlessly clean. No bar or restaurant facilities on a Monday or Tuesday, but I did know in advance that would be the case
- Colm (9/5): - Great staff and great service, and the Thai food served when I arrived late was really good. But the highlight was the breakfast: the Fountain had restored my faith in bacon! I'm a light sleeper, and there was a bit of sound through the walls...my own fault for not putting my earplugs in.
- Edwards (8/5): Always enjoy my stays at the fountain Inn - The staff are always so nice and friendly and the food is always fantastic. when i am working in the area i will always try and use the fountain inn. n/a
- guy (7/5): Value for money shirtvstay - Value for money Bedroom small
- Glyn (8/5): - Nice staff and good food in the evening Noise from the next room at night delayed getting to sleep until I shouted at them to be quiet.
Breakfast took a long time to come despite having filled in a selection form the night before.
- Mark (10/5): Great place - A great place to stay with really friendly staff
- Joanna (5/5): -
- Elizabeth (8/5): Comfortable, well looked after, would stay here again. - Friendly, helpful staff. Excellent breakfast.
- Edward (8/5): Very friendly experience and a very pleasant stay all round - we'd recommend it to anyone! - The breakfast was great - everything was really cooked and really nice! Staff so lovely! The only thing that was a slight problem were the bathroom taps. You had to press down hard to get the water to follow.... It was quite difficult with weak hands.
- Tanya (8/5): -
- Dafydd (8/5): Enjoyed the stay, and i would stay at the Fountain inn again - The best breakfast i have tasted for a very long time When booked through Booking.com, it wasn't until confirmation email the kitchen wasn't open on Mondays and Tuesday. This forcing me to seek an evening meal elsewhere.
- JOANNE (8/5): Comfortable stay. - Very friendly, helpful staff. Good breakfast. Bed very low. Could have done with a chair to sit on to do my hair.
Toilet brush very dirty!
- Philip (7/5): -
- Anne (7/5): Dissatisfied with breakfast choices - In the location we required Good clean was not what we expected it is basically a restaurant with rooms not a hotel
- Daniel (8/5): As already mentioned above - Staff are extremely pleasant, helpful and welcoming. Facilities were - the bar area was lovely but the only downside is you can’t just come in for a drink. Room was fine but the bed could have been more comfortable. But overall I would recommend The Fountain Inn, so much so, this was our 4th visit. As mentioned the bed could have been a little more comfortable.
- Sandie (10/5): - Staff were exceptionally friendly. Lovely clean accommodation. Amazing food! Nothing
- Evan (8/5): -
- David (6/5): - Staff very helpful
Breakfast was good
Ample parking Room small and dated
Shower cubicle very small
Taps were more suited to a public loo.
Lot of steps to negotiate.
- Trudi (8/5): -
- Mrs Chris (9/5): Lovely place, fantastic staff who were very friendly and helpful. They would go out of their way to help. Not the best o - Lovely property, very clean and pleasant. Only downside is that the property is built on a hill, lots of steps. We had a ground floor room, however because the property is built on an incline, we still had a short walk up to the room each time we wanted to go into the main building. Also the room was meant for people with mobility problems and the bed was so low. It needs to be lifted onto blocks
- robert (10/5): -
- Andrew (9/5): -
- Portman (10/5): - The location was perfect for our needs, rooms lovely. Nothing
- Anthony (10/5): Staff were friendly and very helpful - Friendly staff Nothing
- Paula (10/5): - Very friendly and accommodating staff. Comfortable rooms and a great breakfast
- Jacqui (8/5): - Quiet location, nice breakfast
- Zoe (10/5): - Lovely clean room, delicious breakfast and friendly helpful staff.
- Chris, Kathleen (10/5): Great stay - Everything is easy there. It feels safe, and it's an easy place to get around with a good car park. Staff are very visible and make sure you are ok. Food is lovely and although they were busy it didn't affect us in the room.
We stay on the way to fishgaurd, so it's ideal for us.
- elizabeth (8/5): Very pleasant - Small but comfortable room, nice and clean. Breakfast was excellent and the staff were lovely The only issue for us was the duvet on the bed, it was small and lightweight,
We could have done with a bit more cover each side.
- Tracey (10/5): -
- Anthony (10/5): - Great
- Bryan (8/5): - Breakfast was superb. We only stayed one night. The deluxe room needs to be updated. Crack in sink, floor unstable in shower, noisy and vibrating washing machine from 7am from above. The staff were superb. The restaurant and bar area looked superb and if we visited again we would definitely go for a meal.
- Emma (8/5): Fabulously maintained property, with excellent customer service just off the M4. - Welcoming and professional staff, location for visiting the Gower, free parking and excellent food. The rooms were nicely decorated, just felt a bit boxed in as small and a hot time of year.
- Martha (2/5): - Not so good
- Monteith (8/5): -
- IAN (8/5): Great place to stay - Staff were nice, attentive and chatty. Easy parking. Food great both evening and breakfast. Quiet. Clean throughout. I'd definitely stay here again. Internet a bit weak. Missed a desk but space limited.
- 430 (10/5): Relaxing, comfortable, excellent food! - Lovely location, very helpful friendly staff, very clean room, very comfortable beds. Restaurant food was excellent, and the breakfast was superb. Can’t recommend the Fountain Inn highly enough. Recommended. Loved it, perfect. Nothing to dislike.
- Alister (10/5): - Friendly from the start, would highly recommend
- Stephen (8/5): Highly recommended - Very good accommodation at a good price. Exceptionally good, friendly and helpful staff. Excellent food and a wide range of choice with various price ranges in the restaurant. All good.
- Julie (10/5): -
- Jane (8/5): Lovely. - The room was fine however there was a synthetic air freshener smell I hated. I think it was placed under the bed. If we had stayed longer I’d have asked for it to be removed but we were in and out quickly.
The room was good for our requirements.
The inn itself looks wonderful. We had a quick drink before we went elsewhere. Wish we had eaten at the Fountain as breakfast was superb - 10/10.
Staff were all incredibly nice, happy and chatty.
- J (9/5): Superb - The rooms, the food, the location Late check in, early check out. Fees for early check-in. But as I've stayed here before., I enjoyed the stay.
- Mihaela (8/5): Could be better! - Good staff, especially the Spanish lady. The bed was not a proper double bed for a luxury room and the choices for breakfast were very poor (little butter already precisely portioned by the kitchen and one little egg). Would've done better a buffet.
- Norzaimah (9/5): A quick one night pitstop on our way from North Wales to Cornwall - The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Ivor who went out of his way to accommodate our requests. Nothing
- Antony (6/5): - Booked via yourselves, was unaware that the restaurant was closed Monday to Thursday until the booking confirmations came through
- Simon (10/5): Loved it strongly recommend it . - We had skylights in bedroom and bathroom, not a problem,
The decor was fantastic. Very stylish. The nicest we had on our travels.
The evening meal was good as was the breakfast To get to the dining room, we had to leave our room and walk around to the front of the building. We had good weather fortunately. Would definitely stay again.
- Terry (10/5): The area was peaceful no noisy traffic, the staff were extremely accommodating and friendly, - We had a evening meal there as we arrived after 4pm, and that was worth every penny, The breakfast was excellent, I liked that the bathroom was a wet room so didn't have to climb over a bath to use the shower. i would recommend this place to anyone going to Wales. Trying to find channels to watch on the TV was a bit complicated, it was a case of figuring out how to get the channels and then just paging up or down to see what was on. The eggs were a bit over cooked. There weren't any biscuits to go with the complimentary drinks.
- Ennis (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent staff, very friendly. Lovely breakfast All good
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gaynor (10/5): Exceptional - Nice room. Friendly staff. Delicious breakfast Nothing
- Denise (10/5): Prrfect - Staff were friendly , breakfast was perfect, room was spacious. Can't fault it
- Ennis (10/5): Exceptional - The staff were excellent, very friendly. Room spotless, food excellent. All good
- Glen (10/5): A very pleasant Inn type hotel and would recommend unreservedly. - Nice location, the room was clean and comfortable. The food in the restaurant was excellent. Breakfast was very good and plenty of options. The staff are very nice and really helpful. There is more than adequate parking. Not a thing.
- Robert (10/5): - Nice and quiet
- Peter (8/5): Very good - Food was very good, staff were very polite and friendly Nothing in particular. Got more than enough for the money
- Charles (8/5): Stopover in Pontarddulais - Friendly staff, parking, great breakfast.
- Angharad (4/5): Disappointing -
- Tony (10/5): - Very convenient
- Trevor (10/5): Perbrey race track visit - Good visit ,warm welcome helhful staff ,food was excellent would stay again
- Nick (8/5): Great base for cycling days out. - We had an amazing welcome. Ivor looked after our bikes. Staff were incredibly helpful. We really enjoyed our stay.
- Kevin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Neil (10/5): - Staff were fantastic from checking in to servicing the room and our needs. Nothing was any trouble. Restaurant staff were amazing along with all the chefs.
Food was amazing cannot fault any meal we had. Nice garden area to sit outside
The only thing to mention is outside our hotel room door (room 5 first floor) there must be a generator as every morning from 7am onwards. Along with the sound it also caused vibrations on our door. So if you are a light sleeper bear this in mind. We were there 3 nights and got used to so this did not cause to much bother.
Will definitely return
- David (10/5): Exceptional - This place is amazing staff were all great polite the chefs were amazing and would be great to see them again 😀 the scrambled eggs were great OMG 😲 Nothing
- Anna (10/5): - Staff are so friendly breakfast was lovely rooms clean had everything you could need, just back from my 3rd stay and couldn’t fault it I would like to say on behalf of my father and myself a big thank you to the staff.
Anna Colhoun and Brian Rees
- William (10/5): - The staff were excellent and so accommodating, they made us feel very welcome every morning could not fault anything, food was amazing and out of this world definitely give it a 10/10
- Kate (6/5): Pleasant - The staff were friendly, the shower was hot, it was tidy. There was a light going on and off outside the room and the curtains didn't shut this out which impacted sleep. More than two small pillows would have been good.
- Jennifer (10/5): Exceptional - 1st time in this location everyone made us feel very welcome and the food was excellent.
- Rob (9/5): Superb -
- Kathryn (9/5): Incredibly kind and helpful staff, in a comfy and clean room -
- Carolyn (7/5): Nice visit to a beautiful area - The food, staff, location were all brilliant! The bed was a small double. Was not comfortable & sleep wasn’t great!
- Susan (5/5): Passable - Not much. The lady on arrival was friendly but never saw her again. It was nice and quiet. Freezing dining room for breakfast, possibly as I was the only guest. For the same reason it should have been easy to make a fresh breakfast for one, but no sizzle no pleasant aromas. Pre-cooked, no care given to my breakfast experience. Oh and cold coffee
Mold in room under bed and in bathroom. AND NO TV!! It was windy and stormy. Maybe a factor.
- Cheryl-Lynn (6/5): Okay, but definitely not worth the money I paid. - Double bed (queen size bed advertised). No free bottle of water (as advertised). No restaurant from Monday to Wednesday (hotels.com say restaurant available). Walls are paper thin where I could hear the guests conversation in the room next door as well as every time they used the toilet. Definitely not worth the £98 I paid.
- Samantha (9/5): Superb - Great atmosphere, friendly and very accommodating . Room was a good size & very clean.
Food was fantastic - As was the breakfast that was included in our stay.
Great place for the price. The only downfall is the annoying bathroom taps - push ones that are very stiff and noisy & the sound of a fan or washing machine early morning, but that wouldn't put me off staying again .
On the whole - fab little place 👌
- Linda (10/5): Warm and welcoming - The room was lovely and clean, bed comfy and breakfast was so yummy. Couldn’t find a fault
- Rachel (7/5): Great location but more consideration of disabled accessibility required. - Food was lovely. Staff were eager to help and sort any issues. Great location for seeing family and doing some sight-seeing. Accessible room was very awkward to access in my electric wheelchair (slightly smaller than a manual chair)- the sharp turn into the building and again into the 'accessible' room was only just doable (a larger wheelchair would have not been able to access the room). The camber of the narrow access path and drainage channel caused huge issues (my wheelchair got stuck in drainage channel and had to be lifted out by my husband, I nearly tipped my wheelchair over as the camber was so severe coming around the ramp to the Function Room - one wheel was off the ground and I had to hold on to the metal post to avoid sliding and tipping over) - if i had been on my own or more limited in mobility this could have been very dangerous.
The taps in en-suite sink were VERY hard to press on - some more disability friendly taps such as the same used in hospitals (paddle taps) would have been much easier to use.
The noise from the washing machine above us was extremely loud - especially at 7am in the morning - disturbing our sleep as it rattled and vibrated the walls and floor.
- Stephen (8/5): Very comfortable room and friendly/helpful staff. - The room was clean & tidy and fully met our needs. We arrived during a particularly cold period in early Jan but the hearing was more than adequate.
Unfortunately the restaurant was closed on the day we arrived (Jan 2) however the breakfast was excellent (delicious local produce). No issues.
- Scott (10/5): Exceptional -
- Linda (6/5): Pleasant - Comfortable, clean, warm and welcoming Restaurant and bar closed both nights in an area without much in the way of alyernatives
- John (8/5): Very good - The breakfast and roast dinner was excellent Although the room was fine and the bed comfy the room was a bit compact
- Pearl (10/5): Would definitely stay there again - Very clean
Staff very helpful and friendly Nothing
- Mo (10/5): Not where we would stay ordinarily. We were attending a family event and it was an excellent choice - Room was small but had everything needed
Excellent breakfast. All staff were professional and friendly. Felt very secure in our room. Free parking. Nothing.
- Rita (10/5): Convenient for our trip from the Midlands to meet local friends - Bedroom comfortable and warm and location is perfect for meeting and dining with relatives Bathroom taps very stiff
No full mirror ( part of it was missing)
- Paul (9/5): Superb - The food;hotel and staff were excellent… Bigger tv
- Mick (10/5): i went stayed an left thanks - Clean and tidy nothing
- Debra (8/5): Very enjoyable. Will definitely return. - The staff were so friendly and helpful. The restaurant was lovely. The room was cold but there was a portable radiator which helped. Put the central heating on but didn’t heat up until the morning.
- Irene (9/5): Would definitely stay here again! - The staff are all lovely, really friendly and chatty. The food is excellent. No road noise! Room a little small but did the job. Some of the bathroom fittings need tightening up, but very minor issues.
- Hopkins (5/5): Excellent, comfy very clean - The breakfast was big, and tasty. Nothing that we could see, although we only stayed 1 night
- Mark jonathan (10/5): - The room was very nice and the breakfast was good. Staff friendly and service good
- Gary (8/5): - Only one night however staff lovely and friendly, room was clean but a little small
- Jo (8/5): Enjoyable stay - Very clean room, breakfast was excellent Bed was a little hard for me
- Linda (10/5): - Fantastic stay just wish the mattress had been updated very old and uncomfortable
- Karen (8/5): - Our room was small but spotlessly clean and dspite being on a main road very quiet.
Breakfast was freshly cooked, generous and very good quality. We would definitely stay here again.
- Linda (8/5): Beautiful restaurant excellent service and staff. Rooms a little small but hygiene standards excellent - Staff very friendly and efficient, food excellent.
It’s a pity that it does not have a bar area. Unfortunately it only operates as a restaurant, it would be nice to have an area indoors to have a drink that’s not in the restaurant.
- Francis (8/5): Very good - Friendly staff, accommodation not large but clean and what we needed Push button water taps that took a long time to stop
