Guest Reviews
- Lattie (7/5): Nice place to stay - The crew were lovely. A bit of traffic noise
- Isobel (8/5): -
- O'Connell (9/5): - Hosts were welcoming and the environment was absolutely beautiful and well.managed.
- Chris (10/5): -
- Peter (9/5): Incredible and totally recommend this place - Loved the friendly and helpful staff, comfortable bed, cosy pod, incredibly hot and powerful showers. Enjoyed a beautiful breakfast and free coffee. Toilets just far away from pod especially in the rain.

- Suzie (8/5): - Le logement insolite au milieu de la ferme les sanitaires, propres mais très sommaires.
- Hannah (10/5): Best layover ever! - Amazing stay! Will definitely be coming back. Such a cute little cabin and well kept. Staff were wonderful and had everything we needed. Super kid friendly!!
- Shannon (10/5): A wonderful and novel place to stay. -
- Shubhra (10/5): -
- Melissa (9/5): -
- Sharon (8/5): Arrived late in the evening, easily accessible off the main road, facilities were clean. - The pod was clean. There was nothing I didn't like
- Kaya (10/5): - Such a great place to stay right off the highway between Wellington and Taupō! The pods were super cute and really comfortable, with both a heater and a fan which made it perfect. The camp kitchen was cosy and had everything you could need—lounges, a TV, games, and a fully equipped kitchen. The staff were so friendly and helpful, and we loved feeding the animals (such a nice surprise to have feed waiting in the room!). Would definitely recommend staying here and would love to come back. Loved it all
- Dennis (8/5): Enjoyed the experience but would prefer a toilet to be included in pod. - The pods were small but comfortable. They were warm and although the traffic noise was loud at night it did not bother us at all. The only thing I would have liked was a toilet inside. If it had been wet or winter weather, I would not have booked them as going out at night to the toilet was too far. The Managers were very friendly and facilities in the kitchen were extremely good. The lights at night through the gate on the concrete path to the toilets did not light up. I expect their night lights that were there were broken. As I got to the toilet a night light came on. On arrival to the entry of the camp it was alittle confusing. I had a pin number but unsure what it related to. I may have rushed reading the entry details I was given but it did not say the maps locker was the same pin. However, with the help of the manager we got in and drove to our pod.
- Sumalinog (10/5): Worth the penny - I like everything about the property.
They have given us free fruits and it was delish as it is freshly picked.
We stayed in the three cabins on my birthday and it was fun. The cabins are cute yet spacious enough to fit 4pax in one cabin. Animals made our stay even better.
They have given us good for the animals. The sound of the chicken in the morning is a top core memories as it reminds me of home 🇵🇭.
I also love the cafe, esp the custard square.

- Marita (10/5): Would love to come back! - A cosy hut/pod with beautiful surroundings. It was a joy to meet the friendly animals and give them food provided from the owner. The shared areas (kitchen, showers etc) was clean and had everything we needed. Thank you!
- Nikki (10/5): -
- Amelia (9/5): We would definitely be back , loved the lounge and kitchen area but again that was quite hot inside too so it was hard t - It was very cute It felt like it was very hot in the room and even though we had the fan on it didn't do much, not sure if the queen/king room would be any better.
- Natalie (8/5): - Ease of access and no issues

- Jessica (10/5): A must visit and I wish I’d stayed 3 nights or more! Fantastic for kids and really lovely for couples too! - This was by far the most incredible place we stayed in our New Zealand trip. We only stayed one night and wish we had stayed longer. The pods are small, cosy, warm and have absolutely exceptionally comfy bedding and beds. We stayed with our 10 month old and 3 year old and they loved it. The communal toilets and showers were clean. The communal kitchen and living room area is lovely homely has a high chair and toys and everything you need to cook. The farm part is just amazing for the kids and adults. You can feed the animals; loads to explore; stunning scenery and the cafe is lovely and makes meals less of a chore! It’s perfect.

- Ruth and Ioanna (10/5): Break up your road trip here, get some sleep, but make time to feed the animals - Loved the cabin, the giant bed, and the cute toddler bed they put in for our girl.
The deck outside would have certainly been utilised more if we'd stayed more than one night.
The shared kitchen and lounge was well equipped and available 24/7.
They left some little bags of animal feed for us so our 3 year old had a ball feeding the goats and sheep right by our cabin.
- Tal (9/5): Cozy stay at a tiny pod - We needed a nice place to stay the night on our way northeast, and we found it!
The pod we stayed at was beautiful, tiny, but with a lot of thought, you feel like you are sleeping in a cozy tree house. They left animal feed for the kids to feed the animals around the place, and they loved it, especially the alpacas.
Amenities were spotless, and the kitchen is stocked with everything you need for cooking. They have one of the best and most comfortable lounges we have been at. The kids picked a movie from the DVD variety, and we did a movie night while it was pouring rain outside, and we were nice and warm.
Even with the cafe closed, we found a lot of things to do. We even managed to solve the maze. It's on the highway, so there is traffic noise and sadly the coffee was closed on the day we where there
- Courtney (10/5): -
- stuart (9/5): - Very clean and very well presented
- Rochelle (Rocki) (10/5): - Fantastic stay and the staff were exceptional. Beautiful place to stay and extremely high quality stay.

- William (9/5): -
- Paul (10/5): - Cabins
- Lap (3/5): - To Be fair, The amenities and accommodation pod were very basic and was charged out at motel (in Taihape) prices. The brochure looked nice, thought I would try it out. Will be sticking to motels in future.
- Jaince (5/5): -
- Daniel (9/5): Well worth a stay and if time have breakfast too in the cafe - Loved cabin and animals to share time with and the alpaca food too Shared toilets so far away. Definitely an issue once you reach a stage in life where a middle of the night one is needed.
- SINGH (10/5): -
- Janet (8/5): Cute, clean comfortable - Very nice spot, cute cabins, clean facilities well run Main highway so can get loud trucks
- Jake (9/5): It’s a very peaceful and relaxing, family friendly camp ground. - Small, cost, peaceful enviroment. —-
- Rosemary (8/5): A cute campsite right on the main road. - A good stopping off point on the way to Wellington. Not enough toilets and showers at peak times
- Corle (10/5): - The units were very cozy. The team made sure the kids were welcomed with snacks for the animals and even a little bed for our youngest. The units and facilities were immaculately clean and the kids had the best time!!! Absolutely nothing!!
- Andy (10/5): - Perfect location for an overnight stay on a long drive to Wellington
- Sue (10/5): Exceptional. This place gave us memories for our holiday. - The huts were clean and located in a picturesque area. Bit warm to begin with but soon cooled down. It was fun feeding the animals. It was so peaceful and in the evening we were mesmerised by the stars!
- Reju Sam (10/5): -
- Thamale (7/5): -
- Liz (9/5): A lovely place to stay, after a long day's travel. A bonus to wake up next to cute alpacas. - The directions on how to get into the cabin, and where everything was located was great.
- Sheryl (9/5): - Cafe next door, great friendly staff, beautiful setting. Bathroom a bit small and a bit far away. Beds under the upper bunk a bit difficult to manoeuvre but only option for single beds
- Jan (10/5): - Tidy, convenient Hard to get around the bed as cabin was quite small
- Thai (9/5): -
- Louise (9/5): -
- Jenny (10/5): - Beautiful pod- super child friendly amd staff are exceptional
- Sadie (8/5): Perfect little animal farm stay and fantastic facilities - We absolutely loved our guy and all the animals Not a lot!
- Nikki (8/5): -
- Nikster13 (10/5): -
- Lara (7/5): Comfortable and just what we needed for last night. - Cute, cozy, unique shape, parking right next door. Closest cabin to wash/toilet facilities.
Lovely surroundings and friendly staff. Bed a bit big for the space, a bit narrow to get around the bed.
Very strong smelling air freshener that was overbearing on arrival.
- Sally C (9/5): -
- Warren (9/5): Pleasant experience. - My partner and myself stay in tourist parks in Australia with our caravan and love it.
Our friends from the US, not so much but, thoroughly enjoyed it. The huts were wonderful. There wasn't much we didn't like. Everything was comfortable and relaxed.
- Wanita (10/5): Clean warm place - We only stopped so we could rest for a few hours.... beds were comfy, it was nice and warm when we arrived which was extra points from me as I had my babies with me...
My son felt like he was in a tree house...
He also loved the room....
Will be coming back next time to feed the animals.... That the bathrooms were a little far considering I had a bung leg.... but nice and clean
- CHO (10/5): The host is considerate and thoughtful.we arrived very late and they turn on the heater and light for us . Room is clean -
- Anna (8/5): Great value and everything you need - The price was great value. Facilities were good. Cute animals nearby. Road noise and train noise and roster noise! None of which they can help- but they didn’t provide earplugs which was lovely!
- Breanne (10/5): - The kids loved the entire experience, feeding the animals, playing on the playground.
- Amber (8/5): -
- Manu (8/5): Very nice place to crash overnight on a long trip. - Cosy cabin, easy access, super clean. The bed was good but not great.
- Poppy (9/5): -
- Joseph (7/5): fantastically Great place to stay, but go somewhere else for breaky/coffee:) - The little Pods are great, So much attention to detail, the heater was on when we arrived (It was the middle of winter), clear instructions, great showers and kitchen etc. The Animals are all gorgeous and fun. we stayed a night between day walks up the Ruahine's and the mountain. They even provided earplugs in case you forgot yours. Beds we're comfy, and heaps of extra warm things. The Cafe looks great, staff - fantastic, and the place has a great vibe. But my high expectations were very much not met with breaky (a very bland creamy mushroom dish), and the coffee.
- Lyndel M (8/5): Great stopover to break up the drive. Cute cabins and farm animals to feed were a hit for the kids! - Cute Cozy little cabin with comfortable beds. Kids loved feeding the animals. Camp kitchen really well equipped and we enjoyed watching a DVD in the communal area. Nice hot showers. Cabins were just a little squeezy for 4 people + luggage, but we only stayed 1 night so it was fine. A tap near the cabin or BBQ area would make filling the kettle a bit easier.
- Derrin (10/5): Exceptional - Late check-in was so easy with the clear instructions, and the room was waiting and inviting
- Te (7/5): Beautiful location, animals all around - The location is nice The toilets are not next to the cabins
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jess (9/5): Superb -
- Richard (5/5): Passable - The cabin The bed was shit so hard.Needs replacing asap.
- Holly (10/5): Fun Accomadation!! - We liked that it was differant with the pods, and loved feeding the animals and the cafe. The bbq gas bottles were empty. But we just used the kitchen instead so no big deal.
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional - Easy check in, comfortable cabin and plenty of animals to get to know! The cafe was also a great place to start off our day the next day! Nothing :)
- Jolanda (9/5): Superb -
- Jolanda (9/5): Superb -
- Tareena (7/5): Very nice for our short overnight stay - Everything was nice and clean and we found everything we needed for cooking in the shared kitchen. Getting to feed the animals was cool too. We timed our visit wrong so missed out on going to the cafe (we arrived late on Monday and it is closed on Tuesdays).
- Wilme (8/5): Oasis - Really neat, clean, milk and hot drinks, coffee station, heater, comfortable bed. Pod was really a little oasis for me. Beautiful views.
Earplugs were very helpful! My heater was not well connected, and it stopped working during the night (sub zero). It did work again when I reconnected the plug again.
More lights / more responsive motion detecting lights on the way to the bathroom will be helpful.
- Katherine (8/5): Very good -
- Kristy (8/5): A great overnight stay with plenty to do for a family with young kids. - Beds were very comfortable, surprisingly firm.
Animals were a great pastime for the kids in the wet weather.
We loved the maze! No complaints, the facilities are a little tired but well looked after and clean.
- Martha (8/5): Very good -
- Rose-marie (7/5): Beautiful scenery, great for kids - Beautiful scenery, great for kids, lovely little cabins The cabin was very hot which wouldn’t be a problem if we could open the door/window without loads of bugs coming in. Perhaps a fly screen would be a solution? Had a really uncomfortable hot sleep.
- Terina (8/5): Very good - The staff and the at the Cafe were outstanding!! Very friendly and professional. Genuine warmth and delicious kai.
Loved the animal food in a packet in the room. Was very excited to receive this.
- Leilani (7/5): Good -
- Thejokers (8/5): Great with kids - 2 six year old granddaughters had an absolute blast here. The animals, play area and maze kept them occupied and happy for hours. The staff were so friendly and the cafe breakfast was delicious!
- Ketura (7/5): Loved the farm and the pods. The communal kitchen and bathrooms had everything we needed. - Beautiful location and the pods were cute and spotless. When we arrived we were told that we should have been emailed the codes for the different areas and gate access etc. The cafe staff needed to ring the owners to check which pod we were staying in. I also thought that they were slightly overpriced.
- Jonno (8/5): Great - Unique and easy accessible. It was really hot after a day in the sun and the fan didn’t help much, even with door and window open.
- Wendy (7/5): Good -
- Bella (10/5): Easy and safe stay for a solo female traveller - Felt very safe and friendly. Loved the treats left to feed the animals! Such an easy process to check in and out Nothing. I loved everything
- Gaurav (10/5): Loved our stay at Flat Hills—cozy pods, spotless facilities, and delicious coffee!—highly recommend! - We loved our short but sweet stay—peaceful nature all around and the best part? Hanging out with the sweetest ponies, Penny and Storm!
- Ruth (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jane (7/5): Good -
- Caroline (8/5): Very good -
- Carol (7/5): Thanks for being there. - Had our own breakfast as early risers. However have in the past used cafe once as a lunch stop - very good. Not many saucepans/pots to use for cooking own meal. A bit awkward having such large double bed in small cabin space.
Perhaps some ground level quiet solar lighting to guide campers to toilet block at night would help.
- Bill (9/5): Unique experience - Unusual and quirky A lot of noise from the highway and railway next door. They did supply ear plugs though!
