Guest Reviews
- Skipton_Traveller (8/5): Good central location. Easy parking. Generally OK. - Good central location. Reasonably sized room. Clean. I found the bed quite comfortable, but my wife didn’t, and as it was a double that can only be personal taste.
Check in via the bar, and they helped with luggage. Managed to get a parking space right outside, but there is also a car park across the road with 2 EV chargers.
Restaurant was closed the night we were there. Didn’t have breakfast.
Nice walk to the edge of the Loch quite close by.
A one night stay which We would have no issue repeating.
- Ma5050 (10/5): 10/10 staff - Our 4th time staying in waterhouse inn & would highly recommend, Staff are so welcoming very obliging nothing is a bother, the accommodation is 100% spotless from rooms to restaurant & lounge, ...the food is the best 👌 best place in balloch to stay
- mhaurlkl (10/5): Drop In just for the hospitality - Now we only stopped in for a late breakfast and a tea an coffee. greeted and seated with a smile and welcome. It was a quite time but service was still attentive must not pushy. Our breakfast was prepared in a timely manner and was fresh and hot. This is a nice spot in town as there is always something to watch. I peered into the Pub which looked warm and country. Great place for our impromptu breakfast stop/
- Resort04111815086 (10/5): Lovely Inn! - We popped in for breakfast before going on a boat trip on Loch Lomond. Luckily we found this little gem! A lovely inn with a varied breakfast menu that caters for all. We had a fantastic Scottish breakfast and received great service at a very reasonable price. Well worth a visit!
- margy14 (6/5): Beautiful location - Room lovely and clean, beds were comfortable. Could do with bathmat as the tiles in the bathroom are very slippery.
Ideal location close to the loch and shops. Staff all very friendly and helpful. We definately reccomend this place. Not sure about car parking.
Breakfast was nice
- 646trishw (10/5): Excellent Value and comfortable stay. Friendly staff - Parking...Easy, we got a spot right outside. Just opposite is a free carpark if required.
Check in was through the bar where we met Wing the Barman who showed us where our room was and offered help with luggage.
Room was clean and comfortable. It had tea and coffee making facilities. A hairdryer. Mirror over the dressing table . A long dress mirror. Built in wardrobes. Small TV but not something we use. A few toiletries and towels. In the hallway there was an iron and ironing board if required.
We had a drink or Three in the bar with Wing serving (Good luck with your sponsored walk) and a few local guys, Dougie and Alex (plus another whose name I can't recall sorry) Seriously, you all added to our stay. A fun night was had!
Take recommendations on where to eat from locals before you waste money!
Accomodation is on the doorstep to Balloch Castle (currently undergoing work/ closed) and it's beautiful walks in Balloch Park which is on the banks of Loch Lomond.
As for getting around, we visited West side of the Loch up to Falls of Falloch. Stunning. Plus a boat trip from Tarbet to Inversnaid ( there are trips available from Balloch too) We ate at Balloch House(Not great!) Caffe by the Loch , long wait but friendly staff and good snacks. Princess Rose Chinese , a bit pricey but such good food in a lovely modern refurbished restaurant. (With a fab wine list!) Partner had a breakfast at Waterhouse Inn that he enjoyed too. Brilliant start to our holiday! Thanks to all at The Waterhouse Inn
- Buspassoap (6/5): The usual Xmas experience - Xmas dinner with friends. Prawn cocktail was nice, although it was served on a plate rather than in a tall glass. The main course was much the same as everywhere else at Christmas . Wafer thin processed turkey slices, with Brussels sprouts, carrots, roast potatoes and gravy. Nice except the thin turkey slices and strange textured rectangle of stuffing, at least I think it was stuffing!! £7 for a small bottle of wine. It wasn’t the best. Won’t be back.
- JJB (10/5): Centrally-located Inn - Very decent Inn located a stone throw between the rail station and bus station. Very comfortable room. Clean and spacious. We were right above the pub, facing the main road but were not the least bothered by any noise. The only drawback was food was not served on the night we stayed (a Monday). Not sure if this is because of post-Covid or seasonal arrangement.
But the very friendly Mr. Tsang suggested very good alternatives nearby. Will stay here if we happen to be in Balloch again.
- bryanmC4057KT (10/5): Value for money - Our first time staying here and will be definitely be back. Great & friendly staff, Superb breakfast, Clean rooms. The only disappointment we had was no evening meals was available on the day we arrived 16/06/23 (it was a pity the pics of the food looked great).
- I3995GPsandrat (10/5): Perfect - Everything about this wee place was perfect room was spotless so comfortable, great wee bar down stairs staff so polite and helpful ,won't be staying anywhere else in Balloch for future trips, room overlooked Balloch park , and was convient for everything
- margaretmF1850SD (10/5): Very quiet even with a bar downstairs - The bedroom and bathroom were spotless, the staff very pleasant and helpful I ŕeally couldn't have asked for a better place for my trip. It also was very close to Loch Lomond so the scenery was beautiful
- Q1286YWjaned (2/5): Awful don’t trust - awful - this company took our money and never delivered a service or have courtesy to email back or talk to me on the phone. Don’t trust!
if you look at their Facebook page there are other customers in exactly the same boat.
- B4123USsueh (2/5): Bad service all round - Booked directly with hotel November 2022. Booking company Agoda today cancelled as the room was double booked. They are blaming hotel and hotel are blaming them.
BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND, we had booked for 2 nights, guess they've had a longer booking! Seems very very unfair!!!!
- mbrosn (4/5): Tourist prices - Restaurant looks very inviting. We got a take away kids hot chocolate as they were all booked up for dine in& drinks. Totally understandable . However we were charged ridiculous price for it - very greedy for a small hot choc . Taking advantage of tourist trade.
- kirstyl167 (10/5): Nice pub hearty food - Visited with my husband after taking a long walk around Balloch country park and Loch Lomond. Staff were really friendly from the point we entered. Reasonable prices and the food was incredible - clearly home cooked. We both had one of the specials - steak baguette with chips coleslaw and onion rings. Would visit again and highly recommend.
- Paradise595829 (10/5): First class customer service and food - Called in for lunch while visiting Balloch last week. Very friendly welcome and excellent customer service from the two ladies who were serving at bar and waitressing. The food was delicious and well presented. Would have no hesitation in going back next time we are in the area.
- jomac9 (8/5): Very friendly - We stayed in the Waterhouse a few weeks ago while attending a wedding nearby. It was ideal for what we needed. It's clean, the staff are very friendly and helpful and the breakfast the next morning was excellent. We got back to the Inn after the wedding & even managed a couple of drinks in the bar before bed. Balloch was very busy & it was very hot but we managed to sleep with the windows open & were not greatly disturbed by any noise. I would definitely use it for a stopover again.
- miker835 (2/5): Very disappointing customer service - AVOID. - My wife and I were booked to stay here for one night. However, after spending just 15 minutes in the room, it was clear we couldn't stay there. The room was sweltering and far too hot and when we opened the window, the noise of the industrial fan directly outside the window, from the kitchen below, was too loud to keep the window open.
We tried to speak to someone about this but the bar woman informed us that all the staff dealing with the hotel side of things had gone home. Convenient. We therefore had no other option but to book with another hotel as it would have not been possible for us to sleep there, thus having to pay out twice for a reasonable room.
I of course recognize that a heat wave cannot be controlled and the bar woman we spoke to was very apologetic and helpful. However, despite leaving my email address and phone number, we were very disappointed that no one has contacted us about this issue, despite the lady's assurance that they would.
I have sent a further email requesting someone contact me but again, there has been no reply. Very poor customer service, clearly only interested in taking our money with no regard for the customer.
- 123scottishlady (6/5): overnight stay - for loch lomond it was a good price the pluses were friendly staff minuses small tv shower akward to get into would have liked to have a evening meal but they do not do that a black mark on the kettle element easy fixed we had a good sleep as our room was to the back the front woujd be very noisy as the pub was very busy and there is various food outlets beside it it was fine for 1 night but wold be wary at that time of the year and how busy that area gets mabye longer out of season also had to park in a car park that was full of teenager drunks our car was fine but worried about it
- Brian (8/5): Very enjoyable stay. - Really friendly staff, room was very clean just found the bed slightly uncomfortable. Ni food was being served but will be back again.
Perfectly located visiting all tourist attractions.
- carli (8/5): - Well located with free parking. They did not serve any breakfast due to COVID rules which meant we had to go around town to find some breakfast. Like that there is a shower in the en-suite much better than a bath. The TV was extremely small and there could have been more plugs in the room. Would stay there again
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great value for money, room was very spacious
- jillian (6/5): - Room was above pub bar and was noisy, and as there’s takeaways near by it was busy with people and traffic. We asked for an extra pillow but couldn’t oblige so went to retail park to purchase. As for breakfast the menu was very limited. Staff very friendly though.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Overall the rooms were fine, just need to upgrade the beds. Really uncomfortable.
- Martyn (8/5): - Free parking nearby. Close to Loch Lomond. Lots of places to eat and drink nearby.
- S (8/5): - The property was nice and clean. Great location for Loch Lomond! Breakfast available with the property and that was okay, although nothing special. The staff were welcoming enough, but I wouldn’t go as far as to call them “friendly”.
- Andrew (8/5): Day 9 & 10 of 2018 McHeritage Tour - Room was superb except for a ridiculously small TV. Bathroom was clean and modern. Bed comfortable. No lift which made it slightly awkward when carrying large amounts of luggage. However was not inclined to use the pub due to its clientele who made us feel uneasy.
- Emily (6/5): Pleasant but overpriced - The location was really convenient for the event that I was participating in but I felt the price was not good value for the accomodation. The room was clean but duvet cover had stains on it and so did spare pillows. No guaranteed parking and breakfast not open until 9am. Price was at a premium due to Swim event. Perfectly pleasant but not likely to stay again.
- Ockert (8/5): Great place to put your head down for the night - The room was large, comfortable and very clean. The staff were friendly. We only spent a single night here and left early in the morning so didn't have a chance to try the breakfast.
- Jim (10/5): - This was an ideal 'overnight' and would make a great base for touring some of Scotland's most magnificent scenery.
- Mark (10/5): - It was a very comfortable room with plenty of space in a good location
- julian (10/5): Great for visit to Loch Lomond - Great position right by Loch Lomond, good service and atmosphere in the lounge bar.
- Alison (10/5): Nice inn next to Loch Lomond - Very nice stay , staff very friendly, and helpful. Would go back .
- Carl (8/5): - very good location to explore the area
staff great
- Verified traveler (6/5): - First room we were given was very smoky so first impressions were off. The staff got us another room which was ok but not great. The main problem was the bathroom. Very low water flow in the bathroom with no soap and paper bath mats made it feel like a very low budget room. If they would put a little more effort into this it would have been much better
- Frank (8/5): Roamin in the Glowmin - Nice hotel, close to Loch Lomond. Room was large. Breakfast wasn't till late and we checked out early.
- Catherine (8/5): Big room - The room was big, clean and comfortable. Although it’s above a pub you couldn’t hear any noise from it at all. A little bit of TV noise from the room next door but nothing major. Breakfast wasn’t included in our rate but was really good and worth paying extra for.
- James (10/5): friendly inn - lovely inn, placed in balloch beside loch lomand lovely breakfast and friendly staff good sized room very comfatable.
