In the room there were colored pencils and a sketch book--nice touch. I left my mark there. Convenient walking location. Cons: I'm giving property a 4/5 because the pool is not heated and FREEZING COLD! I mean come on it's a vacation spot! It's not even a big pool--get a solar cover and heat that baby up! Also daytime pool music was AWFUL.

BennAnn (6/5): Parking Ticket! - I chose this hotel based on its location and the roof top bar. We arrived just after 4pm (check-in time), after a 4hour drive from Miami but had to wait an additional 40minutes until the room was ready. No big deal but a bit surprising considering this was the most expensive hotel in which we stayed in our 2 week trip around Florida. We were in room 638 which meant we weren’t far from the roof top bar which was good in some respects but also meant you could hear the thump of music on the Thursday and Friday night of our stay. Fortunately we were tired both nights so it didn’t keep us awake. We didn’t eat here so couldn’t comment on this - we went to the local Whole Foods Market and bought in breakfast ourselves. There was Jazz playing in the downstairs bar and Latin music in the rooftop bar on the Thursday night, Piano music downstairs and music in the Rooftop bar on the Friday night. Definitely a location if you like a wide variety of music/ dancing. We self-parked our car in the Palm Avenue Garage next door and paid for 19 hours of parking. We parked in front of a sign saying zone 2274. Three bays away was a sign saying ‘restricted parking 6am-10am’. We asked a local who didn’t think it was a problem. There was no-one in the garage to ask. We discovered a 35 dollar fine on our windscreen when we retrieved our car. We have since read reviews for this hotel written by American citizens who have also received tickets. The hotel responded to their reviews in February 2024 and August 2025 explaining that they planned to alert guests. Well, by our stay, March 2026, they are still not alerting their guests. We liked the roof top bar and the large room. The first question that reception staff should have asked is - Do you have a vehicle followed up with help telling us where to park without incurring a ticket. This spoiled our stay in Sarasota.

sandinthesand (10/5): Fabulous Stay!!!Fantastic Hotel!!! - My husband and I recently stayed at the art ovation hotel by Marriott autograph collection. We were very impressed by the staff as they were extremely inviting, knowledgeable and helpful. What surprised us the most was the fact that they had a shuttle to take us to and from our events. We had a wedding to go to. The night before we had a White party and our Driver Richie was phenomenal. On time, friendly and personable. Got us to our venue safely and then picked us up at a time that we had previously confirmed. The next day, my sister-in-law and I had hair appointments and needed to take the shuttle into St Armand Circle. The shuttle driver was unavailable so the hotel called an Uber for us. We arrived on time and an Uber brought us back to the hotel after our hair was done. The night of the wedding, our shuttle driver was John. Talk about a nice guy! He made our rides to and from the venue so entertaining! His voice impressions of Howard Cosell, etc., exceeded all our expectations. What a joy to ride with him. Highly recommend! And to top it all off the Front Desk manager McKenzie couldn’t do enough for us. It was my birthday and when we went back to our room, we found a birthday card from the staff and a plate of cupcakes! We would definitely return and stay at this hotel. If I could give it 10 stars I would.

Two nights of zero sleep . The pool was unusable on Saturday as guest brought in friends and had party -no chairs for paying guests to sit on . Have stayed at sister property in Wyoming - which was amazing this was one of the worst experiences I have had at hotel.

Brooke (8/5): Close to the Opera House which was our goal. - The room was clean and we were able to order food/drinks, as needed. The coffee maker wasn't stocked so, we needed to request additional pods for filling/using which was fine. They didn't answer the phone very quickly when we had questions which isn't horrible yet, it took time to engage everyone. Maybe they are understaffed? We went to the rooftop bar and no greeter so, we walked our way to the bar and had a long wait for service yet, the staff was nice yet, everything is a bit slow. Likewise, at night we attended the bar in the lobby and again, a long wait for service for both drinks and food yet, it happened. The artwork is okay - nothing outstanding. It's nice to see a place supporting artist on every floor with a gallery display of items that are for sale. Hopefully, they flip the artwork frequently for more interest and visability. Slow service all around the hotel and servicers who aren't engaged in what they do for a living. They were clearly at a job and just waiting for a shift to end. Roof top band at night carried down to the room and made it difficult to sleep.
joanne (5/5): Average and expensive. Not Luxury. - Room was a little shabby with peeling vinyl headboard and dated bathroom. The destination fee is outrageous and not made very clear when booking: a $28 a day extra charge on top of the day rate. This covers, amongst a couple of other things, shuttle service, a welcome drink, and an in-room instrument! That's right, you pay an extra fee for a kids' ukulele in your room. Odd, but apparently all part of the immersive experience of staying at the resort. Art Ovation is not a resort and there is no immersive experience unless the experience in question is being milked like a cash cow. Blatent mis-selling and a terrible add-on cost.

Viviana (8/5): Mehhhh - Property was nice very clean and modern. We booked a high rise room they put us on the fourth floor, something about water damage to the room we were suppose to get. They gave us vouchers for the valet parking that equaled $45 dollars per day. That’s great but it was our anniversary and I really wanted the high rise city view room. Plus I know we spend more money for that room than just the $45 vouchers. We didn’t want to make a big deal out of it so we let it go. Second our booking included breakfast when we went to eat they told us we had to go to the customer service counter… turns out that by booking through booking it’s supposedly a second party that we only get two vouchers per day of $50 for breakfast and it was me my husband and daughter. We had to obviously pay the difference because the restaurant is pricey. Other than that the hotel is beautiful and the valet guys are very nice. So pretty much disappointed for the amount of money spend it’s not worth it.

Haven’t got a refund for that and they have stopped answering messages . Be very very careful

Front desk: Addison, I appreciate you…from your checking me in and answering questions and for holding an item from the gift shop for me. And everyone else that I spoke with when I ‘crashed’ your employee party…Becky F, Monique, Mariah, John D, and Angela (wonderful to see you back at the hotel!) If you’re still reading this long review and praise of staff, I also want to mention the hotel robes…best I have ever worn…so soft. (And they sell them in the gift shop…I have one at home) The sketchbook in my room had a gorgeous drawing of the view of outside drawn from inside the room. The little coffee machine took me a minute, but all I had to do was read the directions on a card of how to operate. I bet some folks are intimidated by it, but I figured it out. I did appreciate the little note in the room explaining why the headboards look the way they do…they are not dirty, but worn due to an inferior fabric and it is my understanding that the hotel rooms will have a remodel / refresh probably this summer during the ‘off season.’ Oh, and I found a gem of a little restaurant (Don Luigi) just across the street. I will have to post a separate review of that place…it was outstanding! dvkremk (10/5): Fun place to stay - We spent an evening here for a short winter getaway. We went to see a concert at the Opera house and rather than heading home to Venice we spent the night. This is a fun hotel with great art work in the lobby and the halls. The art is rotated frequently with many local artists contributing. In our room was a ukulele and a sketch book with pencils - such fun!

Check out the art display - a must see. Best of all was John the shuttle driver. He drove us to and from dinner each night and entertained us along the way with jokes and impressions. Added to our great time in Sarasota!!

rominab453 (10/5): Above and Beyond - Above and beyond service. We loved the spacious room, comfortable bed, perfectly clean bath and sheets, and the nespresso machine. The art and art-related touches (such as pencils and a sketchbook and ukulele in the room) makes this feel like an experience, not just a hotel stay. The pool was very nice with plentiful seating and a nearby bar (you could also order from the deck chairs). Spacious gym as well and next to the nice walk along the marina park and close to the Yacht Club where my business meeting took place. The valet was quick too as we called in advance of heading down to the lobby. Perhaps most unexpected was receiving a personalized feedback email after our stay. ABOVE AND BEYOND!

The indicated a $3 charge for water on the bottles, yet had no indication of the small sparkling water bottles being $6 each. This is sneaky and a less than poor business model. No more Marriott stays for us. At $500 per night for a room that was in deteriorating condition, we are done.

holidaygirl055 (10/5): Boutique-style hotel with fantastic staff - This was my third stay at the Art Ovation, primarily chosen because of its close proximity to where my family live. I would have to say that this was the best yet! I arrived far later than scheduled due to wide-scale flight cancellations, but received a warm welcome from reception, a lovely room upgrade and a helpful reminder that room service was available if I were hungry. My room was not just spacious and very clean but had a fabulous view across the city towards the bay. The staff here are the standout! Without exception, they were helpful, friendly and just fantastic ambassadors for the hotel. This was especially true of the reception and pool bar staff. The gym is reasonably well equipped and while more focussed on cardio than weights, it's perfectly capable of offering a good workout. There was a minor hiccup when I went to check out, as they thought I was checking out early and I had to show proof of my original reservation to prove I wasn't, but it was handled swiftly and reasonably painlessly. Overall a great stay and I would have no hesitation to return on my next visit to Sarasota.

Michael at the front desk went above and beyond in every way! He provided us with lots of tips and information and was very personable which enhanced our stay! I would like to also give a shout out to the daytime shuttle driver! He took me to Lido Beach and once I was settled on the beach I realized I had lost my phone! As everyone knows, that is disaster! I was trying to decide what I was going to do when I saw him walking towards me on the beach with my phone in hand! He had come all the way back to the hotel and turned around d and drove back to the beach once he had found my phone! I cannot recall his name but kudos to him!!!

W891CQnicolet (6/5): Failed Expectations - The first time I visited the Art Ovation I visited the roof top bar (not as a hotel guest). I hyped it up so much to later find it to be a disappointment. For over $400 a night at the time of my booking on Halloween (you pay for your own parking) it was not worth it. When booking was all established the hotel staff failed to tell us that the roof top would be unavailable with access to tables (no hidden fees). Well… as my husband is a planner he called to see if there was any Halloween events. Yes of course! At an entry fee to stand and to get kicked off a table. Nothing like the feeling of crashing a party right? To be hotel guest that paid over $400? Plus side… because we like those…. It was clean. Robes are nice. Likely will purchase online but not from them. Communication is key.

MY first contact was John DePalma who went above and beyond to make my check in a breeze. He was a total professional and through out my stay was always there to take care of me. I am a repeat guest and would highly recommend this hotel. Every staff member we encountered was pleasant & professional. The room was immaculately clean and well stocked. Restaurant and lobby bar were lovely. Food excellent. Fairly priced drinks and happy hour. Pool was beautiful and bartenders on roof were excellent as well.

Our server at breakfast in Tzeva, Joe, took excellent care of us and was very helpful in suggesting menu items. We used the hotel shuttle several times during our visit, and Josh and John were wonderful tour guides/drivers. If you are looking for a unique place to stay in Sarasota, this is it!

Richard (8/5): - Overall, the hotel was nice. We were on the seventh floor. Both on the eighth floor open top pool bar. There is a nightclub on Friday and Saturday nights and the noise is very loud and goes on until later at night. It was hard to sleep when The nightclub was on.

AC were loud and turned off when your sleeping. Highly recommend to turn off the eco-motion sensors for guest comfort with the FL Heat. Overall, The staff are incredible & the service was great.

The service is wonderful, the rooms are spacious and the rooftop pool is a very nice amenity to enjoy should you not have time for the beach. Being warmly greeted (and remembered) by Tony and the entire valet have who have been there for years is a nice way to start your stay at Art Ovation in Sarasota.

963marvaw (10/5): Great Demonstration of Hospitality - I really enjoyed my 3 days at the Art Ovation. I ate most of my meals at the property. I feel like I missed out because I didn't have enough meals to try everything I wanted to experience. I thoroughly enjoyed what I did eat (doubled up on the avocado toast which is one reason I didn't fit another meal in). The weather was a challenge so I didn't try out the rooftop pool but I had in room dining, ate in the restaurant and carried out from the restaurant. I was in a suite and drove to Sarasota. The valet was very responsive in having my car ready to go whenever I was ready to move. Also, I utilized the hotel shuttle to make a Walgreen's run when I realized I had forgotten certain toiletries at home. They did hospitality extremely well at the Art Ovation and I look forward to experiencing it again very soon. Even with I regret that I was at the hotel for business because there was some much that I was tempted to get in to upon arrival. I

Most of the guests stayed at Art Ovation and the rehearsal dinner was held at Tzeva. Every team member from the front desk, bartenders, valet, custodial team, to the room and event coordinators were amazing! It’s a beautiful hotel and the sunset on the rooftop is amazing! Walking distance to lots of restaurants. The roof top bar is fantastic with live music and dancing at the weekend. We are both in our sixties and loved it so dont be put off by previous reviews about age. I particularly loved the Molton Brown products which is a nice touch! We will definitely be back. From the moment we checked in, until we left 3 days later, we encountered outstanding customer service. Every interaction with staff was positive from the valet, front desk, bar tenders, to the wait staff. The property itself was well kept and clean. Great rooftop pool and bar. First class all the way around. Special shout out to Ari at the front desk for being such a great asset and facilitator. She was a rock star!

What is extra special is the Shuttle service they offer to drive you to the Beach or restaurants. The drivers both JOHN and JOSH, are a huge asset to the hotel, making sure everything goes flawlessly as they move you about. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in the Sarasota area.
