Guest Reviews
- victoria (9/5): Paradise away from the Aguram Bay main strip… with an almost private surf break. - Villa was lovely.
Coconuts surf break out the front was a very fun wave. And quiet!!!
Had to drive/tuk tuk to Main Street if wanting to eat out of the property, but an easy tuk tuk ride.
Staff were very nice.

- Joanna (7/5): Good hotel for the area but isn’t in town and doesn’t quite have the vibe you think it does in the pics - The set up and the lay out of the report and amazing staff including Jahan on the front desk who will do anything to help It’s called a surf hotel but no one knows anything about the surf!
- IAN (8/5): - The location was within walking distance of centre
Nice staff.
Right on the beach. Small pool area, limited sun beds around pool.
No air con outside of room.
Better value for money stays elsewhere in Sri Lanka.
- MUHANDIRAM (10/5): We were on a holiday and we chose the best place for our trip. - Property is on a great location Absolutely friendly staff and great service
- Suvin (7/5): -

- Amalinde SLU - NIF B55309553 (10/5): Fantastisch plek met heerlijk zwembad! - Fantastische plek!

- Karolina (10/5): -
- Jayasuriya (10/5): Exceptional - The place was a luxury stay as promised. The cabana was clean and had everything that we needed. Friendly staff and expectional service. The children couldn’t enjoy the pool as it was deep but we enjoyed the beach
- David (10/5): - Very kind and competent staff, super helpful and very attentive to our needs. Very relaxing atmosphere and excellent service. We had a wonderful stay!
- Jane (7/5): Relaxing break but a bit disappointing - A lovely view from the terrace and from the beautiful clean pool.
Staff were super helpful and friendly. Actual cabanas are looking a bit tired and weather beaten. Could see daylight from under the closed entrance door.
Cigarette ends & bottle tops noted on grass immediately infront of our cabana terrace. Guessing from previous occupants of our cabana as we used an ashtray!
Location, although lovely beach & sea views, it is isolated having to drive thro a maze of back alleyways to get anywhere. Not somewhere you can go exploring from.
Seems little communication on information provided- Although hotel asked about food intolerances, it being noted on check-in and mentioned at mealtimes that my husband cannot eat fresh tomatoes there was grilled tomato on his breakfast both morning (even spoke to chef after 1st time).
- Gaurav (9/5): - Private beach
Small property
Cabanas are nicely done
- Anita (9/5): Lovely stay…… - Unique! A luxury beach hut! Great experience…. Not much to do! Lots if stray dogs around the resort and beaches….
- Nicola (10/5): -
- Ilya (9/5): Nice location and friendly staff - Pretty much everything was fine, surfing spot is not too far and it’s not crowded at all. They got surfing boards for rent. Cabanas are spacious and nicely decorated. Breakfast is delicious. A bit pricy restaurant
Difficile raggiungere arugam bay a piedi (necessario tuk tuk)
- sylvie (10/5): Magnifique - Magnifique
- NIKITA (9/5): -
- Juliette (6/5): -
- Anna (9/5): Relaxant - Es molt
Maco Es massa car
- Raj Kuma (10/5): - The staff was fabulous especially Dulanjana and Prabanjana attended to all our needs without even asking for it...we loved the hotel and service 10 out of 10 Our only concern is the access to hotel...particularly during mosque prayer times..please arrange your in out accordingly to avoid wasting time on the road...
- Debbie (7/5): Good - The pool was murky and with bugs
- Shannon (9/5): A unique surf and safari experience! - Such a novel property with gorgeous HUGE cabana's with everything you could desire in a room. So comfortable and great for our family of 4. Great pool and grounds on a fabulous beach. The restaurant menu can maybe have more traditional options.
- Manickavasagam (9/5): Superb -
- Sigal (7/5): Great hotel but the location was not so good. - The rooms are big and very comfortable but the hotel is very far from the center. There is nothing around the hotel no restaurants and no shops. The service and stuff were very nice and good but the service in the restaurant of the hotel was very slow.
The beach is nice but nowhere to sit there and it is not a beach that you can swim. It is just nice. The pool is very nice and pleasant. It was far from the center and nothing around the hotel. No restaurants and no shops. Even for the beach you have to drive since the beach in the hotel is not for swimming.
- Arhana (9/5): Superb -
- Nirasha (8/5): Very good -
- Michelle (5/5): Nice resorts - Facilities in the main resort were lovely There was a language confusion
- Rohan (1/5): Possibly the most horrendous hotel experience we have ever endured. - Nothing Slow / cumbersome check in. Feral dogs wondering around property. Dead gardens. Dead birds in dead garden. Ripped upholstery. Pool had algae growing on tiles and water fleas. Staff struggled to make a simple mixed drink or coffee. Food the worst we've experienced in Sri Lanka and we all got sick. Restaurant & Room Service orders rarely delivered as ordered. Completely misleading to call this a 5 star / luxury resort
- Michelle (7/5): Comfortable relaxing stay in a lovely location - The cabana’s were comfortable and unique.
The pool was beautifully was with an amazing view
The restaurant food was excellent as was the service provided by the matradee Due to a personal error in my booking my husband and I were moved to Kottukal Beach House for our 2nd night. Whilst the room was lovely unfortunately the service here was poor and hard to get.
- Natalia (8/5): Lovely place, but it needs a little polish - Our cabana was lovely—clean, comfortable, and beautifully situated. The food across all meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) was absolutely delicious. The location is incredible, right on a stunning beach, and you can tell that this was once a truly exceptional 5-star resort. Some staff members were exceptionally friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Unfortunately, many of the shared facilities and outdoor areas feel quite run-down and tired. It seems like the hotel is resting on its status as the only 5-star in the area, but the upkeep is lacking. Service was inconsistent: while a few staff were great, others seemed disengaged or untrained—some even appeared to avoid interaction altogether. No one ever came to the pool to offer drinks or snacks, which felt like a missed opportunity, especially since the place wasn’t full and there were plenty of staff around. One night they were even hammering to fix a cabana roof at 11pm, which was quite disruptive. Reception also felt a bit disorganized. Overall, the hotel charges 5-star prices, but currently delivers a 4-star experience. With a short closure, a refresh of the facilities, and proper staff training, it could absolutely reclaim its former glory.
- M (3/5): Very overpriced for an outdated and less cared for hotel and facilities - The staff at Jetwing Surf & Safari were incredibly welcoming, with special thanks to our exceptional butler, Mr. Indika, who provided outstanding service from arrival to departure. The restaurant was a highlight, with an excellent chef who personally greeted us at every meal and offered spot-on recommendations. The experience was marred by numerous issues. The chalets and bathroom fixtures are outdated, and the internet is frustratingly slow. There’s no TV in the rooms, and the electricity was unreliable, frequently going off and on. The pool was questionable, with green water filled with insects, and the umbrellas and sunbed cushions were moldy. There were insects in the room, and even after spraying and killing them, the cleaning was inadequate, leaving debris behind. The drivers’ quarters were extremely poor, with up to 10 people sharing just one cup of coffee and one toilet, no air conditioning, and very crowded conditions. At checkout, I was nearly charged again for the rooms, which I had already paid for at check-in. While this was an innocent mistake and corrected immediately, it revealed a flawed system that doesn’t properly track payments.
- Tiago (8/5): Very good -
- Sarah (8/5): - Lovely staff, nice and quiet within easy tuk tuk ride to Arugam Bay
- Chandima (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful location & stunning views. Very peaceful Just a little far from the local tourist town
- Frances (8/5): Beach side location with easy access to Arugam Bay - Sea front location, spacious rooms. Lovely setting. Pleasant restaurant area. Short tuk tuk ride into Arugam Bay for the beachside bars and restaurants Nothing. Just beware that the bathroom is open at the ceiling to the room so that it lacks a little privacy.
- Botha (10/5): Beautiful and peaceful resort, worth the visit! - It was a peaceful resort that was still a short 13min distance by tuktuk from the Main Street in Arugam bay. The staff were brilliant, their service and helpfulness is exceptional. Facilities are great. Breakfast options could be more, the food was good but not exceptional. But there are so many great places to eat on the Main Street that it doesn’t take anything away from the resort. Unfortunately you can’t swim at the beach of the resort but they have a very nice pool for swimming and relaxing/lounging.
- Matt (10/5): Exceptional - I loved my stay here. The location is great because you are tucked away just out of the busy area yet still close enough to get involved if you want. The staff are amazing and they go the extra mile to make sure you are happy! The rooms are massive, clean and the beds are super comfortable!
- Alina (7/5): Good - Staff were amazing. Location is a little far out from the town. The beach is beautiful but not swim friendly, my partner had a surf and enjoyed it better than main point arugum bay. Enjoyed the cows coming into the property. Very secluded resort. The pool was a bit murky, need some chemicals.
Hotel is very good but the area NOT SAFE - Hotel is good. nice, clean and with very nice views. The staff of the hotel is kind. The area where the hotel is located IS NOT SAFE FOR WOMEN. I went to walk along the beach near the hotel (Pottuvil Point) and a local man sexually assaulted me. He tried to rape me, forcing me, I managed to escape afther fighting with him. I told the horrible events to the hotel and I sent the statement.
- Victor (7/5): Nice place but average service - Very nice location by the beach Food was very average and staff did not speak good English which sometimes lead to misunderstandings and wrong orders.
The bed did not have a bug / insect net on the sides.
- Marie (10/5): Fabulous Stay - It was so lovely being close to the beach and hearing the sound of the sea. We unfortunately not strong enough swimmers for the sea but the beach was gorgeous and so was the pool. The staff were fantastic. I loved our room with our little veranda and the locals cows wandering by to say hello. Arugam Bay was close by so we were able to get tuk tuks to some amazing restaurants. The food was great at the restaurant but we were there 6 nights. The room was amazing but i didnt like that the ceiling was open between the bedroom and bathroom. I would have liked to see more local dishes on the menuu
- Paul (8/5): Very nice place, let down by the kitchen menu. - Very peaceful, not many people there when we went, which was great Menu at the restaurant was very limited, certainly for a stay of more than a few days. They could and should have a bigger more varied menu.
- Sabine (8/5): Secluded beachfront hotel - We liked the beachfront location.
The staff was really friendly.
The food was very fresh and tasteful. Not much around this hotel.
Some of the hotel outdoor area looked used (e.g. sunbeds). Some of the hut roofs were wind torn.
Walking to the beach cabins was wet as of the rain and cow dung combination.
- Sachini (10/5): Exceptional -
- Fabio116 (9/5): Beachside luxury in Potuvil. - The cabana were lovely and well-equipped. The pool was very nice as was the beach. I think the hotel needs to invest in maintenance. I noticed that the thatched roofs of the cabanas, the pool cabanas and the restaurant were in poor condition and need to be rethatched. Our shower was leaking which wastes a lot of water. We reported on day 1 a socket by the coffee machine not working and nothing was done.
- Chandrika (10/5): Worth for the money i ve spent - Everything about the property is amazing .worth fpr the money spent .
- Ravikumar (8/5): Amazing and relaxing stay. - The welcome drink and the introduction were good. We like the hut very close to beach and able to view the sun rise. Nice beach view. The room space. The Breakfast at the restaurant was good and fresh. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The Breakfast to have more option instead of all SriLankan food in one plate.
The driver's food provided was not good.
- Sasha (10/5): Best stay ever. Great and helpful staff -
- Neetha (10/5): Fab Stay🤘🏽 - Location, the architecture, food is nice, very calm & relaxing, fresh staff
A very special note of appreciation to Mr. Dulanjana & Mr. Azeem Hafi who engaged with us on a personal level to make it a fantastic stay Limited food items on menu, but was delicious
- Dafydd (9/5): Wow! Fantastic property, beach amazing.? - Amazing. Can’t swim as surf dangerous.
- Christina (7/5): Beautiful but slightly old hotel, not up to the price - Beautiful hotel area, nice beach view Big setback was the restaurant service - all staff very nice and friendly, however service was super slow! With only 3 tables full at times and 4 waiters - we had to wait 45minutes just to get food! Apart from that many tables were left unclean, so the crows were eating leftover food and the waiters were just standing, chatting, etc.!
Same goes on cleaning - the pool deck was covered in bird fecies, including pool beds - no one was cleaning it, which again shouldnt be happening at a hotel that claims 5stars.
Apart from that all the activities offered by hotel are at least 3 times for expensive than if you go to the city AND this doesnt include extra service charge and tax - get ready to pay 30% more. Much better to go to the town.
- Jessica (10/5): Paradise! - This place was a tropical paradise! The pool was so relaxing, the staff were friendly (plus dogs) and the rooms were beautiful! The food was also so yummy. I would definitely come back 😊 Nothing!
- Sara (7/5): Overall we had a nice stay, but there is definitely room for improvement to give a 5 star experience - The cabana’s are great, the hotel is set up really nicely.
Staff was very friendly! - The food is not very great and definitely does not match the 5 star experience, it is better to eat out. I ordered a smoothiebowl for breakfast and it barely had any fruit on top. Not great value for pricing.
- You can’t go in the sea
- A.b. (7/5): Good - Beautiful hotel by the beach away from crowded Arugam Bay. We stayed there for three days, of which the pool was closed for two days, which was quite disappointing. The first day a group of guests were having a party by the pool, they were drinking and smoking in the pool and were choosing their own music at the pool bar which was quite annoying as we came here to rest and specifically chose this hotel further away from the busy and crowded Arugam Bay. Overall we found it too expensive for the service and facilities that were provided, which did not feel like a 5 star hotel.
- Alex (10/5): Amazing staff, location and pool ! - So peaceful, great location and the service is amazing ! Special shout out to Jehan at front reception. His service was one of the best we have had in Sri Lanka, thank you Jehan !
- Harn-huey (8/5): Very good - We spent three nights at Jetwing Surf and were very satisfied. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and spacious.
We enjoyed a massage that was exceptional. I can only recommend it. We were three people, and unfortunately, one of us had to sleep on the couch, which was not very comfortable. If you plan to stay longer, it would be great if you could add an extra bed.
Also, the Wi-Fi connection is not very good.
- Joanne (10/5): Exceptional - The welcome we received was amazing . We were given cool towels , a drink and each a neck and shoulder massage ! The rooms are incredible. So much care and thought and the service was exceptional. We were assigned our own butler who made sure we had all we needed . Wonderful place in a peaceful location . There are a few dogs that roam around.
- Oliver (4/5): Remote location and substandard amenities - The staff were courteous and attentive The rooms are extremely basic, the bathrooms are positively run down and dreadful . The location is remote and not at all what I expected.
- Soraya (6/5): Pleasant - The balinese massage was very good The food quality is mediocre/bad, the place is over rated, disappointed
- Suzie (8/5): Very good - Cabanas with outside showers were fab
- Kristi (9/5): Superb -
- Rene (10/5): Amazing amazing amazing! - We loved everything about this property and were blown away by the friendliness and professionalism. We were so happy and my family and I had the best time.
- Sarah (10/5): A perfect, luxurious getaway to disconnect in paradise for a few days! - This resort is like a dream. One of the most beautiful resorts I have stayed at. It is super luxurious, beautiful private cabanas, good food and very attentive and nice staff. This is the perfect place to disconnect and recharge. We stayed there for 3 nights. Also the beach in Arugambay is really fun with nice waves. Sadly you cannot go into the sea at the hotel beach but they have a free shuttle service to get you to Arugambay beach (only a 5-10 minute tuktuk drive).
- Sally (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sanushka (10/5): Great customer service - Beautifully kept property and the staff are amazing. They did a fantastic job. Food was delicious.
- Ohev (10/5): Exceptional -
- Oz (9/5): Superb - Honeymoon Hotel!
The staff was really friendly, they take care for everytinh we ask.
The resturant which where you get all your meals was great, the thing for me was a bit different that, it's not a buffa it's order by menu.
But again the foos really good and fresh.
The rooms was great, the AC working really good. There is no sepration betweeb the showers and the rooms. And also the Wifi was not too strong.
Thw sielence there was amazing. Perfect place for Honeymoon.
Location wad a bit disappointed. Coz outside the hotel there is nothing to do. You need to take a tuk tuk to Arugam. Most of the time we stay the hotel.and enjoy the atmosphere and the quiet place. I'M HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional - The stuff was great, everything was really good truly recommend The location is a bit far from the city but it’s about only 15 minutes by car
- Dr. (10/5): Exceptional - We stayed before the main season and everything was lush and green and all the animals pass by to nibble on the grass. The service was exceptional and I cannot say often enough how friendly and helpful all the staff are. We had a lovely time, the staff went out of their way to fulfill our kids wishes, from printing out colouring sheets at reception to letting them bake a cake with the chef or mix a drink behind the bar. We were given a surprise present at the end of our stay and would definitely come back here. Thanks for everything jetwing surf!
- Faye (4/5): Bitterly disappointing at the end, be careful if ever extending your stay - We loved everything about our stay at Jetwing surf, we have an incredible safari, room was stunning and pool was lovely. I was so incredibly disappointed that when we extended our stay for one extra night (because we loved it so much and the price mentioned on booking.com was in our budget) the manager of Jetwing surf lied and conned us into paying over 200% more. We would not have minded if the manager had been honest when he confirmed our booking in person to us, if he had then said they couldn’t do it for the price shown on the website- we would have gone elsewhere, but he left this detail out and we ended up with a sour taste at the end of our stay that made the rest of our trip very difficult as it took us way out of budget
- Kanagarajah (9/5): Superb -
- Gaya (7/5): the place itself was nice, everything else wasn't. - the food was very good, the stuff was amazing and helpful. the location was very bad, you can't enter the water and it's in a different city and a horrible street.
- Rajitha (9/5): Superb - The staff is really nice. Cleanliness of the room also exceptional. Mr. Hafi and the staff were really helpful as my daughter got sick after checking out. But they have arranged the room again and supported us. Pool was not clean. That was only the negative thing.
- Banu (3/5): Its not worth the money, and they should remove surf from the name, as there were no surf vibes at the hotel - The rooms are great, beachfront. And the food was very delicious at the restaurant They said they have a butler system, which I guess not appropriate at this time. And the ‘butlers’ have no competence for the jobs, they are like interns and they can not support even for the easiest questions like ‘what’s the soup of the day’.. there are no activities at the hotel, and its in a remote location so you cannot go out for a walk and explore or sit at a cafe. It was the most boring luxury stay I had
- Christo (7/5): Good -
- Pravin (1/5): Worst hotel in Sri Lanka. Definitely not a 5 star. It’s misleading advertisement. We had to change our itinerary and boo - Only one staff member named Pawan The staff were cunning, receptionist and the manager were extremely unprofessional. They showed two cabanas both stank of mould and it was impossible to stay in there. We left coughing and with a shore throat. They created an issue regarding the refund (which was agreed after speaking to the owner of the chain) and I am still waiting for the money. There were stray dogs everywhere.
- Christine (9/5): If you want to relax to the sounds of the surf and made feel looked after, then this is the place! - Excellent service from all staff, nothing was too much trouble.
The food was exceptional, fresh and cooked to order.
- Aviv (8/5): Medium plus - Good view Very small and Unsatisfying meals, better eat out side
- Kristijonas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Thambirajah (10/5): - Beautiful beach resort
- Michele (9/5): One of the best Hotel I have ever been - The Jetwing Surf hotel is amazing: but the best surprise was the staff... always careful, professional, dedicated to the customers. The beach and the Location are simply amazing Internet connection is very slow and if you need to work with a VPN connection you can't.
The Manager of the hotel was not so kind like the rest of the staff.
- Joakim (10/5): Anbefales! - Kjempefint hotel. Lite mennesker i februar.
- Nikoletta (10/5): A memorable stay - After almost 15 days in Sri Lanka, we stayed in JetWing Surf in a beachfront hut {No 18} and we had a great time. The hut was clean, the mosquito nets were large enough to be effective {a notable difference from other places we've stayed} and we had no issue with bugs. The staff was very attentive especially when we had an early morning safari planned. Our driver came to pick us up at 5:00 AM, and Pawan, our concierge, was there and thoughtfully provided us with a mini-fridge stocked with fresh juices and a basket of breakfast items to take along. Christmas dinner at the hotel was also exceptional. -
- Evy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maithili (5/5): Passable -
