- Lisa (10/5): - From start to finish Luke and the staff made us both feel welcome. The pub was bustling but still the staff made us feel welcome, that nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation was lovely. Dated but then to us that didn't matter as it is all within the same style throughout the pub so all matched. Loved the eccentric nik naks dotted around too. The bedrooms are clean and well maintained and the beds were very comfy. Breakfast is between 9 and 10am which I feel is a great time for people who have come away. Great selection of items on the menu and all staff are accommodating especially with breakfast choices. Definitely would stay again The parking was an issue. We couldn't find it going off the postcode we had been sent. I feel that in future if you just said go to Gillygate and see 2 yellow signs there the parking would be alot easier. We had to phone the pub in the end to get help as our sat nav was taking us all round york for 30 minutes trying to find the parking. Luke happily directed us and waited for us outside the parking area to direct us.
- Stephen (5/5): I would not recommend staying here to anyone, if management ignore fixing a pungent smell entering the room, what else a - The location of the property was great, the staff were great. There was a pungent smell on the room when we arrived that was masked with some air freshening scent the staff didnât mention it. We politely said nothing, the smell came and went, and we left the room to explore York. Each time weâd came back to the room the smell was there, coming through a vent in the wall. When we woke the following and got ready to check out were mentioned out to the housekeeping staff, who told us that the smell comes from the storm water drain of the property next door, and the owner refuses to fix it. Itâs been there a long time. But, why has the owner//management of the Exhibition Hotel not blocked off the vent, and done something about creating some alternative ventilation? Why are they still letting out the room when this has t been fixed? Poor form from the Owner/Management of the Exhibition Hotel!!!

Our room was comfortable and a great breakfast was on offer each morning. Staff were courteous and helpfull. Food was not avaiable on the 2nd night of our two night stay when we had planned to eat at the pub. Drinks were a little pricey especially soft drinks. ÂŁ4.75 for a j20!!

- Sally (10/5): I would definitely choose this hotel again due to its location and value for money. - The location was perfectly situated to the back of the minster and a 4 minute stroll into the centre, the hotel itself was very comfortable, a lovely old building, all the facilities you need, tea & coffee in the rooms, the breakfast was was lovely with a good selection. The staff were very friendly and with this being a pub was an added bonus with a very large beer garden, you couldnât hear any noise in the rooms from those. Although the pub is on a busy road it didnât bother me, once the window was closed and the secondary windows closed I donât think you would hear the traffic. There was nothing I did not like

- NeilKelly77 (10/5): Great pub - The Exhibition Hotel is a great pub I always look forward to visiting on any holiday I take to York, its a great pub with hotel rooms above ,interior of the pub is superb, a cool looking serving bar dominates the main room, pubby decor and furnishings, all manner of bric a brac adorning the walls and there's plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub, its a great pub to unwind in. We were here on a beautiful but bitterly cold March afternoon, pub was busy with a great atmosphere, we had a study of their real ale's which I must say I was impressed with and in the end we both opted to have pale ale's from Sharps Brewery, these were served in excellent condition, we chilled out and planned out the day ahead while sipping our pale ale's. My pale ale was really good, golden in colour, hoppy, crisp in taste, hints of toffee and a delicious aroma and aftertaste with a smooth finish, a classic British pale ale served in a classic British pub, it was just so good being in such a lovely pub enjoying a quality brew and sat with my twin brother, best beer companion in the world. We both really enjoyed our pale ale's in here, couldn't fault anything about our visit here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting we had a great in The Exhibition Hotel . The Exhibition Hotel is easy to locate along Bootham, a minutes walk from the ancient and historic Bootham Bar. Opening hours are; Monday & Tuesday, 4pm till 11pm. Wednesday, midday till 11pm. Thursday, 10am till 11pm. Friday & Saturday, 10am till midnight. Sunday, 10am till 11pm. Well worth checking out if you're in the area.

- PAUL (6/5): Great location for the city and a decent breakfast. - The location was very good - literally a stone's throw away from York Minster. The staff were pleasant and the breakfast was good. The room was only just big enough for two people. There was a small stoll but no chairs. The decor was "tired" in both the bedroom and the shower room / en-suite. There was no air conditioning but, mercifully, there was a modern free-standing fan in the room. It was a heat wave when we stayed there and although the fan did nothing to reduce the temperature, it at least circulated the stiflingly hot and humid air. The bed was very odd. It had two mattresses and, although spotlessly clean, wasn't at all comfortable. It was way too soft at the edges and we only felt supported when right in the middle. The "free parking" amounted to a few small spaces in a cramped yard immediately behind the "hotel". Two of the speces are immediately outside the fire escapes of neighbouring properties. The sat nav postcode took us to a public car park on the other side of the wall from the "hotel" car parking. Thankfully, we went to the hotel reception to find out about parking before making the mistake of paying for parking in the public car park. The staff told us that "everyone ends up in the public car park to start with". Maybe more accurate / detailed instructions on the Booking.com listing would help customers to avoid the confusion and potentially ending up paying for parking in the public car park.

- Simon (10/5): A very comfortable stay, great location and value for money - Fantastic location only 150 metres from the minster! Room was comfortable with tea and coffee facilities and a nice bathroom. Very much traditional decor which we loved. Staff were so friendly and the breakfast was superb! Benefit of free parking was a win for York!! Overall a very comfortable stay and great value for money!

Bathroom very tired and dated. Noise from other rooms was bad and disrupted our sleep. I donât think other rooms were particularly loud, I just think the soundproofing between rooms is below average

- leonard (9/5): Excellent stay in a small traditional pub - We were warmly welcomed on arrival.The pub had a great atmosphere being a traditional old style of place. All The Staff were friendly and efficient. The hot breakfast was cooked to order and the food was top quality and one of the best even out of 5 star hotels previously stayed. All 4 in our party were very satisfied with the service and food. The beds were very comfortable and the bedroom & on suite were very clean. Hotel very close to all York's facilities and perfect location to explore and a few minutes from the centre. Would return on ournext visit to York. Free car parking a bonus. Our room was hot at times. discovered there was a hot water tank in a room cupboard adjacent to the ensuite. Would choose another room on next visit.
- Paul (7/5): Great location but not for a light sleeper. - Room was clean and comfortable, breakfast very good, location particularly good. We really liked the Exhibition as a pub, a good place to get a drink and to get a reasonably priced meal. Our room overlooked the main road very near to traffic lights so there was a lot of traffic. In particular, from very early morning noisy vehicles would sit and idle while waiting for the lights to change which woke us up.

- 46francescah (10/5): Fantastic place to stay - We had a brilliant stay here. We stayed in Fishergate which we found really comfortable and clean. Our room was serviced during breakfast every day. Breakfast was huge and there were lots of choices including a full English and smoked salmon and eggs. Breakfast is 9-10am every day which suites us well. Even when the hotel was busy, our room was nice and quiet. We asked for a breakfast in our room/to go on our check out day because we left early and we had a beautiful breakfast delivered to our room the night before. The staff could not have been more helpful and they seemed genuinely eager to please. The hotel is ideally situated for the city centre with lots of takeaways and nice pubs and restaurants close by. We would definitely stay again. It was good value as well.
