It’s in a central area of Paonia which made it convenient to walk around. We would definitely return. The only disadvantage I could see is it is not an accessible property from what I noticed. - Tom (9/5): Clean, Comfy, and Cozy in Colorado - At this hotel, you get history with interesting things to read and see (it was clean, absent of an old musty smell which some historical buildings struggle with), walkable location very close to good food, brewery and vibes, friendly hosts, good breakfast, an actual welcoming cat (not the Japanese Neko Maneki), Desmond, who will try to squeeze past your legs and enter with you, cozy porches to hang out in/on, easy parking, and friendly locals. I think the squeaky (yet beautiful) stairs will be a challenge to repair:) Our bedroom didn't squeak though. If you are an espresso/coffee lover like me, you will need to go out to satisfy your addiction. It was easy to find on "main" street. The room came with a (I don't exactly know what material to call it) brass/metal bed frame that definitely leaned back a bit when I sat up in bed to read.

- Nancy (8/5): - I had notified the owner that my husband cannot have dairy or eggs, when I made the reservation. The owner/manager seemed unaware, but since the breakfast was French Toast, my husband was able to eat it. The following day, I woke up feeling very unwell (happens after 7 years of cancer/60 treatments). The same person asked me if eggs over easy would be ok, and I said no, I was feeling very unwell and would appreciate something light. He became ANGRY and snapped that this is NOT how B&B works. I apologized and tried to compromise; how about scrambling the eggs? He became irate as he informed me that this would not work for the dish! At this point my husband asked why I was being asked if sunny side up was ok, since clearly there was no other choice. The owner stormed away; he came out several minutes later and told me that he would give me the same thing he was giving my husband, since he couldn’t eat eggs. A delicious bowl of yogurt and granola was given to me (and my husband); I reiterated that unfortunately I just felt unwell and I thanked him for the lighter fare. I KNOW this isn’t how B&Bs work. But, since I refuse to live in a cave just because I’ve had cancer 4 times, I have occasionally had to make special requests. NEVER have I been treated like this, as you can see from all of my other reviews.

Also, no elevator, our room had no shower (just a bathtub)…but the sheets are fantastic, as are the breakfasts. The coffee is really weak, however but always there at 7 am. I think it’s the best place to stay in Paonia.

- Donald (5/5): Nice historic B&B, but not a warm welcoming experience. - Several of the first seating guests did not eat the "eggs sunny side up". There was a note on the table about not eating raw foods. There was a lack of host/hostess greeting prior to breakfast. The server was pleasant, but very brief. No-one was at the front desk at check-in time of 4 PM. I went into the back rooms about 4:10 and called out to get a response. Front floors were squeaky, and should have been an indication that someone was in the lobby.

The breakfasts were outstanding! The hall light comes through the window opening at the top of the door - no way to block it.

Location was great for walking around town and exploring shops and restaurants. Room and private bath are both a little on the small side, but in a historic home this is to be expected.

- Richard (10/5): Recommend the Bross Hotel in Paonia, Colorado - This is a 115 year old hotel/Bed & breakfast. It is in excellent condition, well maintained, and has a superb breakfast and coffee. Our room included a bay window a very comfortable bed, windows that open, a ceiling fan, and room furniture that is of the time period the Hotel was built. It was a hot day in Paonia, in the 90's, yet our room was cool to sleep in. Guests have a choice of showers or in some cased old bathtubs. This is a grand hotel I strongly recommend.

- Verified traveler (10/5): Diamond in the Center of Town - Such a quaint Victorian hotel, decorated to the finest detail w/antiques, art & vintage photos. Very comfortable w/great hot tub. Lovely upper veranda to relax & enjoy the fresh Paonia air. Hosts very courteous & hardworking. Located in town, close to restaurants, but surprisingly very quiet. We will definitely recommend this hotel to others. If you're a history buff, this is the place for you to stay.
- Michael (10/5): Very Very Nice - Bed was great, the wifi was great, awesome breakfast, the shower was nice. The walls were thick enough that I couldn't really hear the neighbors, or breakfast right below me. Plenty of parking. Note to the other reviewer that complained about gravel parking and the train. The hotel is over half the town away from the train tracks, and the parking lot has a tiny bit of pea gravel, not really a problem. Was a super nice place, I'll go back to the area just for this hotel.
- Mathes M (10/5): Delightful! - Charming BnB in a scenic small town. The owners were friendly and engaging. One could see the hotel is their passion and they work very hard to achieve customer satisfaction. Food was extraordinary!
- Paul (10/5): - A really great place to stay the night or a couple of days. The accommodations and service was tops. And their breakfasts are delicious. All homemade and very tasty. Lots to do around Paonia. Wineries and “tastings” are a treat and picking our own apples at local orchards was fun. Make sure you check out Chaucy Pottery only a couple blocks away. A fantastic potter with some of the most beautiful and creative works I have seen. If you have a favorite restaurant in town make sure you know what days they are open. Many have new limited hours and are closed Tuesdays. Treat yourself to this delightful bed and breakfast. You will be glad you did.
- Sheila (8/5): Pleasant stay - Charming bed and breakfast in the small town of Paonia. Enjoyed the upper balcony in the evening. They served a modest breakfast but only juice and water for beverages. No tea available. I don't think there was coffee either. That to me was a major shortcoming. Other than that, it was a very pleasant stay.

I was celebrating my boyfriend’s birthday and they were able to have waiting in the room flowers and a bottle of a local sparkling wine. Very special. Suzanne was also an excellent baker who made amazing breakfasts and treats waiting for us in the evening as we came back from a day of adventures.

- Verified traveler (8/5): - Lovely hotel, charming and comfortable room, which was surprisingly quiet. Staff were friendly and thoughtful. Breakfast was magnificent. We walked to restaurants for dinner. I would suggest you ask, when making a reservation, which floor your room will be on, in case you have issues with climbing two or three flights of stairs.
- emabee (10/5): - This is a delightfully quaint hotel. Breakfast is freshly made and very good. It is located downtown and within walking distance of several restaurants, shops, the park. It's very homey - sort of like staying with relatives.

- Verified traveler (8/5): - The Bross Hotel is a beautiful building over 100 years old. If you’re looking for charm, you will find it here. They also serve a wonderful breakfast. Some might find hauling their luggage up 2 or 3 levels to be too much. The lack of central air (air conditioning in the hallways, with limited circulation to the rooms) might be a consideration for some guests. We felt that the inconveniences were worth the stay in this unique hotel, located in a cute, though tiny town. Located within reasonable driving distance to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison and Crested Butte.

- Seth (10/5): Historic Hotel Bross - We had a great stay at the historic Bross Hotel B&B in Paonia! The property was clean, well maintained, and very historic, with lots of fun photos of the hotel’s glorious past back in the booming days of coal mining. The hosts were attentive and very welcoming, and our top-floor room (Blueberry Hill) was cozy and quiet. The breakfast was excellent as well! From the hotel we walked just a couple short blocks to Main Street where there is plenty to see and do. Would definitely recommend and would stay at Hotel Bross next time I find myself in Paonia
- sue (6/5): Better than camping - Other than the smoke alarm going of in the early hours of the morning, no working air conditioning , gravel parking for the motorcycles , train noise throughout the night... it is ok

- Hillary (8/5): Quant Bed and Breakfast - The Bross is Bed and Breakfast was a nice place and a block away from the Main street . The room and bathroom was clean, nicely decorated. We chose a room with an adjoining bathroom that had a bath tub, no shower. We were pleased with most everything, there was air conditioning in the hall way but not the rooms. At night the room got a little warm even with the cieling fan. We opened the windows and the only issue was a dog barking non stop from 10pm -12pm. Not much you can do about neighbors, but we ended up closing the windows.
