• derDings (2/5): Nie wieder! - Im Mai gebucht - 2700 € Vorauszahlung, nicht stornierbar- im Oktober sollte ich noch einmal ca 1000 € nachzahlen... nach Intervention von booking.com "durfte" ich letztendlich anreisen, wurde allerdings entsprechend behandelt. Das Zimmer hatte statt 36 m² nur ca 24 m² mit Küchen und Restaurantblick. Bett und Klimaanlage gut, Bad OK, die Terasse (2. Reihe) wurde durch die Klimaanlage des Vorbungalows "geheizt". Die Übernachtung von Gästen wurde mir beim Einchecken verboten. Das Restaurant habe ich aus Gründen nicht besucht... das kannte ich aus dem Vorjahr als eher durchschnittlich. Von Beginn an versuchte das "Management" mich rauszuekeln, dazu wurden u. A. Verstöße gegen das Hausregelwerk konstruiert. Leider war über den Jahreswechsel keine alternative Unterkunft zu finden. In 41 Jahren Thailand habe ich noch nie so unfreundliche Geldgeier wie die Manager/Besitzer getroffen. Mein Aufenthalt auf der Insel war entsprechen suboptimal... nie wieder (die Anlage, nicht die Insel)! Obwohl die erste Reihe (nur die) sicherlich einen guten Urlaub bieten kann... wenn man bereit ist, die überzogenen Preise zu zahlen.
• Wiebke (10/5): Best sand under your feet of whole Koh Phayam - Waking up to the sound of the ocean and then dipping my feet into the softest white sand on whole Koh Phayam, that is what my dreams are made of! Ailay has the comfort of an air-con and is perhaps the only beachfront resort with such nice sand on the entire island. The coffee is overpriced and the kitchen is not their strongest selling point.

• Darren (10/5): Lovely AC units right in the beach - Excellently located AC units on Long Beach. Friendly and welcoming owners and staff. There was snorkelling gear, boogie boards and other items available free of charge for guests use. Excellent snorkelling available ~100 metres out to sea directly in line with the far end bungalow of La Ong Lay resort, looking from the restaurant. About a 10 minute walk up the beach ( road by the side of The Kingdom) there are some shops/bars/restaurants and even a Japanese bakery! Turn right at the mini crossroads towards the Japanese Bakery and a little way further up on the right hand side there is a mini mart which will refill your water bottles for far less than purchasing new plastic bottles. The resort restaurant (Forget-me-not) served great food, had lovely staff and was open from early morning through until 8 pm in the evening. We were fortunate to be staying during cashew nut season. We managed to purchase some homegrown cashews from the owners to take with us on our journey. We loved staying here because all the units are located right on the beautiful beach. For the price we paid, we felt the units were a little overpriced but we were paying to be staying right on the beach.

• HERVE (8/5): Bien - L'emplacement est top et le bugalow est agréable Le petit dejeuner est correct en formule mais à 200 bth c'est trop cher. Il est decevant à la carte où tout est en prix unitaire : Les oeufs, c'est 1 oeuf / le bacon c'est une petite tranche, idem pour le jambon, etc cela le rend d'autant plus cher. Des petites mesquineries : recharge en eau dans la chambre, il nous restait une bouteille alors ils n'ont rechargé que de 1 bouteille. Fiole de savon à moitier, pas rechargée.

• Anne (8/5): The nicest rooms we have stayed in on Koh Phayam as long as you don’t mind walking a bit to other restaurants etc - Very comfortable rooms with nice bedding and large bathrooms right in the sand on the beach - the air cons are super quiet, the beds large and the daily cleaning standard high. There are plenty of sun loungers for everyone but some guests become possessive and territorial - perhaps it should be pointed out that these are available to all guests , no matter where they happen to be positioned ….

• Fiona (3/5): 2 star resort charging 4 star prices. - The beach is beautiful. The hut is right on the beach. The air conditioning worked very well. The cleaners were there every day, so as clean as they could make it. This was not a bungalow, it’s a basic and very badly built hut. Cut up plastic shower curtains stapled to the walls served as curtains in the bathroom, the sheets were stained and torn, the curtains are in tatters and the shower is a joke. The manager is only interested in your money. A glass in the room cracked, she chased me down in the “restaurant “ demanding “you pay, you pay 60 baht for glass”. We did, only because we were sure she would have taken the money from the cleaning staffs wages. We paid 28.000 baht in full - three and a half months in advance and she had to embarrass us over 60 baht. If we hadn’t paid up front we would have left and found better accommodation. • Marika (9/5): Perfect if you want to stay on the beach - Beachfront bungalow right on the beach with full seaview. Was able to go for a swim at night time with plankton and then fall asleep to the sound of waves. The staff was extremely welcoming, helpful and kind. Location was great, a bit on the side away from busy bars but easy to walk to any of them by the beach. Shower water pressure was low but that’s how it is on the island, no complaints. In my opinion the price should have included breakfast although it wasn’t too expensive paid separately either.

The restaurant next door meant you never had to go very far for food and drinks. Staff were amazing and were always willing to go the extra mile. Very lovely people.
• Eugenia (1/5): Rip-off! Not recommended the second raw bungalows! - Nothing if you are in the second raw bungalows. We booked for 5 days and looked for another place the very same day we arrived. The location was terrible, the view was to a wall from the bungalow in front, totally overpriced, and they kept telling us that if we didn’t like it we should talk to booking.com. Needless to say that the tv, the air-conditioned didn’t work,… total rip-off. They are lying to you when the sell the second row bungalows!

The beach has many cozy and laid back restaurants so easy to find other place to eat if you don't fancy that of the hotel or just need a bit of change. Staff is super friendly and sweet. Also close to the jungle. We went on many walks down the beach or into the jungle. Also clean and tidy.

• อลัน (9/5): The perfect island getaway - ideal to relaxation. - Ailay Resort is almost at the end of the beach which makes it particularly quiet; it is as if you are the only one there. Better than most other resorts, almost all bungalows are directly at the beach and have full ocean view, lots of windows, and indoor bathrooms. They are really comfortable and spacious, though not really luxurious or stylish. The owners are really friendly, hospitable, and super accommodating. While the menu is not expansive or fancy, it is really excellent Thai home cooking. The enormously wide 4 km long beach in the bay is most beautiful with white sand, quite clean, ideal for long walks, jogging, yoga, kajaking, and hours in the water - you barely see other people, and no noisy boats or beach bar night life. At night, you only hear the cicadas and the waves of the ocean. During high tide you can snorkel around the reefs and during low tide explore the tide pools. Free wifi was spotty. Bathroom had some ants and other creepy crawlies.

Staff were nice and polite Bungalows do need some love and taking care of though, along with all the place there. It could do with a bit more decoration and ambience

• Ben (9/5): Superb - Stayed here back in 2019/20. Lovely beachfront bungalows with AC. Room are basic but have everything needed. It is a short 10/15 minute walk to other bars/restaurants. Nice and quiet at this end of the beach. The owners we’re fantastic again. Will definitely stay here again

The hosts were genuinely friendly and caring, rooms got cleaned everyday, food could be delivered to the room, on a beautiful clean quite beach with coral reefs close by (they have snorkeling gear, boogie boards, kayaks and more that are free for guests to use). I have a gluten allergy and the hosts were very helpful and accommodating, never had a reaction. Hosts helped us book all our transport to our next hotel. Wonderful experience overall that made for a very relaxing getaway. Couldnt think of anything we would change. Will be coming back.
