Guest Reviews
- Fiona (10/5): Beautiful location, stunning hotel - What a beautiful village and setting. The old white hart is a wonderful building, original features with tastefully done modern twists. Our double bath was more like a small pool, truly truly spacious. We loved it!
- john (10/5): Give them a visit. Excellent - Fantastic room and hotel in general
- Christopher (10/5): Very nice - Beautiful hotel in a stunning location.
Very helpful and friendly staff.
Excellent food.
- Paul (10/5): - Lovely place and very welcoming team. Refreshing change to a chain.
Room was comfortable, a little rundown in places. Clean but maybe hadn't been used for a while. Would definitely go again and this time get a meal as planned. Thank you.
- Karen (10/5): - I loved it here! I actually stayed an extra night I was enjoying it so much. The room was wonderful, the food delicious and the staff very helpful and efficient. It was luxurious and relaxing. I would definitely go again!
- Alan (10/5): - Very pleasant venue. Efficient helpful and friendly Staff
- Charles (10/5): Cosy and welcoming B&B with a brilliant breakfast - This is a lovely cosy B&B. The breakfast was brilliant (smoked salmon plus home made marmalade) and service excellent too. My room was very spacious, one small point - the bathroom was so hot, even though I turned off the towel rail socket the rail was still roasting. I can really recommend for business stays around Corby. I'd love to bring my wife here for a short stay to explore Rutland.
- Joe (10/5): Amazing pub - Amazing pub with lovely rooms.
- Rory (10/5): Great Stay Would Recommend - Amazing room warm and cosy spacious matteress was a little soft for me but only a little thing on the overall stay .
Lovely and quiet great tea tray and shower gels handwashes etc of a great quality (john lewis) , brilliant wifi and free and good freeview tv with good signal... overall great country cottage feel.
Loved it will defo stay again
- Jan (10/5): Rutland Gem - Boutique B and B with splendid restaurant in the middle of pitoresque Lyddington village. Enchanting.
- David (10/5): - The whole property oozed character
- Gillian (10/5): - We had a delightful weekend at this beautiful country hotel.
It is the ideal place to recharge your batteries, quiet, well kept, our room had an excellent en suite with a walk in shower. The staff are friendly and helpful. The restaurant serves excellent meals and the breakfasts are very good too.
There is a well kept garden area with tables and chairs where one can relax. Uppingham and Oakham are a short drive away.
We will visit again, definitely.
- JANE (10/5): - Lovely hotel and stay. Delicious food and friendly staff. We had a wonderful, relaxing stay in a beautiful area of the country. Thank you.
- Fiona (10/5): - Staff lovely, and despite arriving just after the kitchen had closed, the lovely chef rustled up a fab meal for us… staff were friendly and personable, and the room was gorgeous…
- Stephanie (10/5): - Lovely village pub with great rooms and staff and location.
Was some noise around until restaurant and bar closed and staff finished. Completely acceptable and not late.
Would def return.
- Ian (10/5): - Pleasant stone building with clean well equipped bedroom and pleasant breakfast.
The staff were very helpful and pleasant.
Parking was easy.
Nothing was poor.
- Christopher (8/5): Nice rooms food not good enough - Great welcome and receptionist/manager could not do enough for us, she was lovely!
Room cleaning just lacked a little attention to detail.
Evening meal was poor, all 4 of us did not enjoy it
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice rooms food not good enough - Great welcome and receptionist/manager could not do enough for us
Room cleaning just lacked a little attention to detail.
Evening meal was poor, all 4 of us did not enjoy it
- Shaun (8/5): Lovely midweek stay - Lovely place, great food and relaxing atmosphere
- IAN (8/5): A bit of a hidden gem - A bit of a hidden gem.
I find it difficult to get a decent hotel in this area that serves decent food and is safe & secure.
I would say that this one ticked all the boxes for me.
Would happily stay again.
- Jacqueline (10/5): - excellent
- Julian (8/5): - Scenic location, helpful and polite staff, excellent food.
- Dawn (10/5): - Lovely staff, beautiful village, very enjoyable indeed
- martin (10/5): - Stopped in ‘Wings’ room. The oldest part of the property. Charming and old world but with modern facilities. Double spa bath is nice and so is the big bathroom. We had a great afternoon and a good nights sleep.
- Amelia (10/5): - It was all good!
- Ian (8/5): Brief visit to Rutland - A good welcome at Old White Hart after a long journey. The small of wood fires greets you on a winters evening. We stayed in Rutland Room. Cosy, well appointed. Slightly disappointed at the sleep quality of the bed mattress. Breakfast was freshly cooked. Staff friendly. In short a very cosy rural pub with rooms. We will be back.
- Natasha (8/5): Beautiful pub and setting - Beautiful location and building. Lovely beer garden. Friendly and welcoming staff. The quality of the cooked food however was only satisfactory. Evening meals were basic and did not reflect high quality cooking. Good choice for breakfast but again did not rate the cooked dishes.
- M (10/5): Lovely village pub - Lovely village pub. Traditional pub food very well executed, steak suet pud & the sticky date toffee pudding were gorgeous.
- Sally (10/5): - Fabulous place very friendly staff, highly recommend
- Sarah (10/5): - Lovely hotel and room. Super quiet and romantic. Loved the blankets for sitting outside & the summer ale was delicious. Only negative was the tea tray. Two tea bags and three little cartons of UHT wasn’t suitable for two people staying in the room. Other than that a lovely stay. Thank you.
- Andy (10/5): - My girlfriend best described this property when she said she felt comfortable, warm and safe and that it felt more like being at home than being in a hotel. Beautiful place, nothing not to like, would come back in a heartbeat.
- Sarah (6/5): - Unfortunately I can’t give a great review for our stay. The room was separate to the main building yet the same price. We only had one set of towels between two of us and no coffee! When I tried to call to remedy, there was no telephone reception so I would have had to walk back (in the rain) to the main building to rectify. I didn’t bother. We checked out at 8am but there was no one at reception to speak to so I just had to leave the key in the box. More like an AirB&B than a guest house.
- nicholas (10/5): - Food and staff excellent.
Our room opened directly onto a staircase, so if you have mobility issues make sure you check ease of access when booking.
- Anthony (10/5): - This was a really good stay. The hotel was excellent and the food both in the evening and for breakfast was great. We will be back.
- paul (8/5): Overall comfortable - Spacious room
But tired in places
- Ian (10/5): Great spot for a romantic break! - A delightful inn with excellent food located in a very pretty village, ideal for visiting Rutland.
- gareth (10/5): SUPER STAY - Really nice stay - super location - beautifully appointed premises - great menu - really nice staff - will visit again
- edward d (10/5): The Old White Hart, Oakham - Stayed overnight as I was doing a cycling tour of Rutland Water. Wish I'd booked more than one! Picked the White Hart from the reviews, and none of them were wrong.
Fantastic place in a wonderful location.
Highly recommended!
- Jeremy (8/5): - Nice hotel. Just a quick overnight stay for me so didn’t get a chance to look around much. Very quiet slept well
- Tim (10/5): Lovely place to stay, can't fault it - Amazing inn, lovely spacious rooms and looks to have been tastefully renovated fairly recently. Very clean, welcoming and great food/bar. Highly recommended.
- Linda (10/5): - Excellent stay !!! The only little complaint was the room was hot so we had our windows open so we could hear a lot of noise from the bar below until after midnight.
- j (10/5): Excellent Hotel - Excellent Standard and Service from Check in to Check out.
- Ian (10/5): Well worth a visit - Beautiful place. Lovely room. Great food and drink.
All round excellent stay - would heartily recommend.
- Linda (10/5): Stunning accommodation, beautifully presented. - Possibly the best accommodation we’ve ever stayed at! Beautifully presented rooms, so clean and comfortable. Under floor heating in the stunning bathroom, especially appreciated as it was -4 outside. Large comfortable bed and suitably decorated with cosy cottage decor. We will definitely be returning!
- Katherine (10/5): - The staff were so helpful and friendly, the room was lovely and we will be returning!!
- JEFFREY (10/5): A lovely hotel and great experience - A great hotel and will be staying again asap !
- Stephen (10/5): Hidden Gem. - Really glad I dropped on this place.
Great accommodation, great staff and great food.
- Stephen (10/5): - Great location and very friendly, the staff were extremely helpful and the food in the restaurant was very good, great room
- Andrew (10/5): Worth going out of the way for - Great food, really comfy bed and that shortbread on the tea tray was yummy!
- John (10/5): Great nights sleep - Great nights sleep staff were very welcoming and food was nice
- Gavin (10/5): Wonderful Stay - Lovely restaurant. Great menu. Good selection of drinks. Room excellent. Good heating, good plumbing!
- Sean (10/5): - Have family local so ideal place to stay. Friendly staff and great service. When I’m in the area I wouldn’t stay anywhere else
- Verified traveler (4/5): Disappointed - Booked a room in the annex very small room upstairs felt like it was an attic opened windows so hot would have been impossible to sleep so did not stay the night felt like a cupboard with another smaller cupboard with small shower and toilet
Shame place was nicely decorated far to small for the money charged
Most of pics on line show larger rooms would help if picture said which room they were
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely venue. Great staff. Would definitely come again.
- Amanda (10/5): Everything you could ask for. - Stayed in Oakham, an annex from the main building. Very spacious bedroom & bathroom (with spa bath); only complaint about the room (and it's minor!), was that it was quite cold in the entrance hall when moving from bathroom to bedroom. I never travel with a thick dressing gown but one would have been welcome on this occasion. The homemade short bread on the coffee tray is a very nice touch, as is the extra pillows, heater, iron/board and hairdryer. And most importantly when travelling on business, the wifi reception was excellent. Didn't have breakfast, so can't comment. Did have a evening meal though, which was very good, excellent service and incredible value for money. Highly recommend both the restaurant and the accommodation.
- Sophie (10/5): Perfect - Me and my partner stayed in the Bede room to celebrate our anniversary, this room is a bit more expensive but completely worth it. Service was perfect, the room was very comfortable with everything we needed, we ate at the restaurant and the food was really tasty! There’s not much in the village but this hotel is perfect for a couples night away. I would definitely recommend
