Guest Reviews
- Edward (8/5): Great value, especially for New York, friendly staff and cool area with a subway close by. - Good shower, very nice products, clean and comfortable bed Soundproofing could be improved
- Guest (3/5): -
- Aaron (7/5): - Convenient to subway, solid neighborhood, secure building. Shower is incredibly small/uncomfortably laid out.
Musty smell in the hallway.
Soundproofing - both external and internal - could be much better.
- Lars (9/5): - The crew was absolutely amazing- such a friendly and helpful desk! Thank you
- Devon (10/5): -
- Guest (4/5): Pay a bit more and go somewhere better. - The staff were kind and helpful. I can't fault them at all. The doors were not soundproofed and banged all night. The room was also not soundproofed and you could easily hear the conversations of others.
- Guest (6/5): - Price. No breakfast included.
- Roberta (10/5): Great place to stay - location was great. 30 min max subway to where we wanted to go. We were wanting a clean, less expensive option to do some sight seeing in NY. This met our expectations perfectly. The shower was a little small due to a supporting wall being in the shower slightly cutting it off but really not a big deal at all. The water was hot and the water pressure was great.
- Paolo (8/5): - Fantastica la posizione proprio vicino alla subway Camera piccola e un po' anonima
- Brittany (6/5): Location great but bc of cleanliness and cleaning staff you should never stay here. - It was a cool looking place and the front desk people were nice enough. My low staff rating is not about them they were great.
The location is great. Walking distance to everything needed/wanted. The sheets were dirty. There was like blood of something on the sheets and then the pillow case had makeup on it. It was disgusting. I've never been to a hotel and had that happen. Thankfully I remembered I brought a sheet with me to go picnicking so we used that as our sheets and then we put tank tops over the pillows so we didn't have our face touch them.
Also, the cleaning crew was cleaning for legit hours and they talk to each other while doing it but not just talk they are yelling back and forth to each other from different rooms, they don't stop talking the entire time. I came here to attempt relaxation and sleep and ended up getting the absolute opposite I went home exhausted because of staying here with this cleaning crew. Truly unbelievable that happened.
No perks? Theres a coffee in the lounge but that other downstairs lounge is closed. You should 100% open that and make a bar and eating area. There's just no perks to staying here.
Lastly, the soap this time. That stuff smells nasty. I would change that scent. There's no way no one else feels the same way it must be cheap.

- Francis (9/5): Great location and a great alternative to a traditional hotel. - The location and the ease of checking in. The room was very comfortable. The pre-check in several days before we arrived at the property was a little complicated; but we managed.
- Brendan (5/5): Good value for the price. - Great value, easy check in/check out. Easy commute as the subway is right outside. Staff were great. Its noisy - slamming of the heavy doors woke me up all night long. The cleaning crew start early and are very loud. The location is good, but certainly not a premium spot. Rooms were comfortable, but very basic which honestly is a reflection of the great price.
- Pedro (8/5): -
- Mark (1/5): Very poor, catalogue of errors and staff unconcerned about the issues. - Location was good Fire alarm went off at 2am for 30 mins.
AC. Rome on level 3 only which was our floor so room was hot and uncomfortable.
Room size was tiny.
- Wendi (9/5): - Location was great and staff were very friendly and helpful Small sink in room. Refrigerator small to hold even one drink.
- Molly (9/5): -
- Laura (8/5): - Location, safety, helpfulness of staff. The rooms are tiny but we knew what to expect. If in BK you should barely be in your room anyways! Coffee machine not stocked downstairs two of the days but plenty of coffee in room and neighborhood.
- Guest (8/5): Would book again as overall it was a good place to stay and met my expectations. - The location was great, staff responsive and attentive, and the room was cool (nice in the summer!) The lighting wasn’t very practical in that there was no lighting near the mirror(s) so it was difficult to see.
- Nathaniel (5/5): Basic, low value, disappointing - Basic clean room, a step above 2 star No public restroom in the lobby?? You are kidding right? Checked out at 5am, used a locker so I could go to the days activities. When I returned to retrieve my locker, I needed to use the bathroom and was told there was none! I meant come on!! There’s just no excuse for that!! None $233 for a 12 hour stay and told we can’t help you,,, shameful if not illegal
- gregorytot800 (2/5): Don’t do it! Treat yourself elsewhere. - Yeah…Just don’t do it. Spend some extra money and stay somewhere else. It’s just a crappy hotel, small rooms, crap building, thin walls.
- Vit (10/5): -
- Annie (9/5): We recommend this accommodation and will hopefully stay again next time we come to Brooklyn - Perfect location for us near our family, staff were excellent- friendly and helpful. Really nice room with balcony We unplugged the fridge at night as it was really noisy but that was really not a problem
- Juan (10/5): Excelente estadía para visitar NY - El personal era muy amable, la habitación estaba en muy buen estado y con todas las cosas necesarias, la ubicación excelente, con el metro en la esquina del hotel, a 40 minutos del centro de Manhattan
- Darren (6/5): -
- Vincent (5/5): Ok - They won't let you check in early even if the room is ready without paying $20-$50. Never encountered that before. The AC and TV didn't work but they switched to another room where it worked (but that can happen anywhere). Sink is hard to use without water splashing on floor. The bed is comfortable to sleep on but it is too soft to try to sit on you the edge, you will just slide off (I don't remember if there was a chair). Room small but functional and clean. I only was there for one night so it was ok. Location for exploring area is very good. Good subway access. The best part was Naomi at the front desk she was super helpful and nice.
- Luca (10/5): Consigliato per coppie - Posizione strategica ad 80 mt dalla metro R
Pulizia da standard italiani
Macchinetta acqua/the/caffè disponibile free
Deposito bagagli free Spero valutino di inserire prima colazione nelle loro offerte
- Guest (7/5): Zen <3 - The location They didn't clean the house daily, why?
- Pieter (7/5): - Perfecte uitvalbasis voor New York city. Vlakbij de Subway. Binnen 45 minuten bereikbaar vanaf JFK Kleine kamers, wastafel is niet in de badkamer. Douche is zeer klein.
- Joseph (7/5): Fine for the price and a short stay, dont be surprised by the small rooms- it is NYC - Good location, efficient check in check out, easy to use, mostly a self-help hotel. Rooms were very small as expected, but if you don't expect you will be shocked. not the nicest, not the most cleanest, but perfectly fine, suits the price
- Ashley (10/5): -
- Iñigo (10/5): -
- Steve (6/5): Friendly and helpful staff and that was appreciated.right around the corner from the subway and Starbucksfor that all im - Location to subway Very small room. Had to change rooms due to electrical fault. New room had a bit of a mould kind of smell.
- Antoni (9/5): -
- Guest (3/5): -
- Frank (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daniel (5/5): Passable -
- Malia (1/5): Not what I expected, will not stay at a Sonder property again - The room I had initially checked into did not look like it had been cleaned properly; there were insect pieces in the window ledge, hair around the headboard and in the shower, and the room smelled damp. To my surprise, I found there was a hole near the window and a family of flying ants had infested the room. I used the chat function in the app to report the problem and was transferred to another room. The new room was cleaner, but the dampness was an issue. I would find that my clothing would feel wet if left out, and there were rat traps in the stairwell.
- Clare (3/5): A shithole. - Only one upside: operable windows. Broken and corroded plumbing fixtures, a shower that flooded the bath floor, ABSURD check-in rituals, noisy, cramped, ridiculous mini fridge.
- Yang (7/5): Good - Room is very clean. Room and bathroom are small.
- Neicey (9/5): Comfortable stay in a great location, though the bathroom was outdated and privacy was an issue. - I really liked the comfortable bed and the spacious room, which had plenty of storage and beautiful art work. The staff were incredibly friendly and approachable, which made the stay feel welcoming. I also appreciated the location — it was a great base for exploring the Brooklyn area and made getting around very easy. The bathroom was disappointing, as it didn’t look like any of the photos shown on the website. It appeared old and outdated, especially compared to the bedroom, which was modern and well-kept. The placement of the bed directly in front of the window was fine when the surrounding rooms were empty, but it felt uncomfortable when other guests were around, as they could easily see into the room — which definitely impacted the sense of privacy.
- Kathleen (8/5): - Very handy base for us to visit family in Brooklyn - 5 min walk to there place.
- Jennifer (8/5): - This is my second stay at this property & next time I come to the city, I’ll stay there again! The staff is primarily friendly & helpful. Most of them go out of their way to make sure your stay is perfect! Love the neighborhood & this property!
- Anonymous (6/5): Pleasant - Great location. Friendly people at the front desk. Didn’t like that the bathroom had no sink. The sink was in the bedroom area and most difficult to use without getting water on the floor. Also, no soap was provided for that sink.
- ASMA A (2/5): - Very small and not that clean
- simplynatalielaurad (8/5): BYO FRIDGE - If you’re happy with needing a hotel to just sleep in this is perfect.
The room itself is small.
Everything about is small.
Including the fridge.
INCLUDING THE FRIDGE.
This is important to note, as it is smaller than a beauty fridge, and you’ll only be able to fit two small bottles of water in.
On an angle.
Because of this I would recommend joining the local Park Slope Buy Nothing Facebook group prior to arrival (they took a number of days to approve me) and try and borrow or get a free mini fridge for your room.
The bathroom area consists of a toilet and shower, the wash basin is outside of the bathroom and in the bedroom.
There is a large storage drawer below the bed which, depending on the size of your luggage may only fit one suitcase.
There is no wardrobe, just a shelf with a long hook which holds five or so hangers for items.
They include ear plugs and a white noise machine. There’s barely any noise from the street though, what you will hear is other hotel guests as they let their doors self close and it’s LOUD. That’s what will be annoying as you try to sleep.
There’s no maid service either, there’s only a $35USD PAID maid service. Be aware that you can go to reception and ask for fresh towels or bedding and then discard the dirty ones in their refuse rooms.
The location of the hotel is right near the subway, stores and Barclays Centre.
Staff were pretty chill, friendly and helpful.
Would stay again, but with a byo fridge.
- Anita (3/5): Poor - For the price I paid, the room was way too small - tiny - one could barely move in it!! I had no warning of this - eery other Sonder I have stayed at had HUGE rooms. I booked far in advance, so even though it was Mem Day weekend, the pricing ended up being TOO HIGH. By the time I noticed the higher prices, it was too late to find another place. In Montreal, e.g. I paid $87 for a palatial studio with an extra siting room and full kitchen. Price for space.
- Van (8/5): Very good -
- diane (2/5): - Tiny rooms... no real service...very disappointing.
- Shawn (10/5): - Best shower I’ve ever had in a hotel!
- Karla (6/5): - There were flying bugs in the bathroom
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shim (4/5): Disappointing - Staff helpful Room too small compared to online photos, disappointed. Shower tap, had to ask the lady on reception to help. It was very difficult to turn on and off , needs maintenance. Also, the sink in the room banged my head on it a few when washing my face, it's too long. The bed had as many bumps as a pot hole road. The mattress needs to be replaced.
- LaurelLane (8/5): Low key friendly hotel - The room, as expected, was very small, but the bed was extremely comfortable, the shower was one of the better hotel showers I’ve had, plentiful hot water. Air conditioning system was quiet and efficient. Only negative was proximity to refuse room, very loud when guests threw out their garbage.
This is a very low key and laid back vibe. Staff were friendly and helpful. Convenient location and reasonably priced.
Cautionary note: We are not very large people, so the size of the bedroom and bathroom was not an issue for us, but bigger folks might not be happy.
- Leonard (2/5): cramped, tiny space with no place to sit or work. - The guy at the front desk. No table, no chair, no outlets near coffee maker or TINYTINY refrigerator (can't even fit a water bottle in it). Poor wifi connection, lousy TV interface and choices.
- Gabby (6/5): - I liked the safety of having a door code for my room and to enter the building. The check-in process was very streamlined. The room itself was ok, I wish there had been a safe and a bigger fridge. The desktop fridge wasn't even big enough for a water bottle and wasn't cold at all. The room smelled kinda funky most of the time even once the trash was removed.
- Diantoulaye (8/5): - okay okay
- Hildy (6/5): - Sink design and location outside bathroom made it impossible to wash face or brush teeth without getting floor, self completely wet. Tiny room with 12” of space on side and end of bed. No where to store luggage. Not set up for two people or one person with more than a small backpack. Loud noises from water or plumbing in middle of night woke us. Good shampoos, etc and helpful locker service for early bag drop. Friendly staff. Good location convenient to restaurants, etc. yet quiet.
- Jakub (4/5): Disappointing - Location was great and staff at reception nice. Shower was not good, handle stiff and didn't stop water getting out of the shower area onto the bathroom floor. Used the Sonder app to request new towels, but never got them.
Room lighting didn't work all the time and was very bright and uncomfortable.
- Michelle (10/5): Exceptional - Great location! Room was just what we needed. Staff were excellent and friendly!
- Kira (8/5): - The vibes of this place were immaculate! The room was small but I didn’t mind. The hotel was very clean and quiet. They do not offer a lot of amenities but since I was only there for two nights, it was fine. Definitely in a great location, there were plenty of restaurants and shopping places within walking distance. I would stay here again.
- Lis (6/5): - I’m not impressed
- Laurie (10/5): This Sonder has become a home away from home when visiting my adult kids in Brooklyn. - The view from the window is very romantic if you like cityscapes and lights at night. The bed and linens are comfortable and refreshing, and the simplicity of the decor is distinctive.
- Aimie (5/5): Super basic. Too expensive for what it is. Don't recommend a room on ground floor. - Available at the last minute. You get what you pay for.
Luggage lockers.
Nice decoration but super tired. I was put in a room on the ground floor next to reception and refuse room which was very loud until late. The walls were thin so everything could be heard. The room was dusty which seems to be a city wide issue but it didn't feel like it had been cleaned basicly before chekc-in.
I wasn't able to go to my next accommodation until 5pm on day of check out so I spent some time in recpetion - I was told there were no toilet facilities! But when another couple asked if they could use a toilet they were taken to the staff toilet.
- Jennifer (10/5): - We stayed here for two nights and we loved it. There were minor things that could be considered annoying such as the spout being too long for the actual sink in the restroom but it was nothing that would keep me from rebooking. We were able to come and go as we pleased. It was pretty clean and quiet. Would definitely stay here again.
- Eilis (8/5): - It is a good location right next to Park Slope and near the subway. The condition of the rooms could be better looked after and more attention to detail. It was difficult to use the sink in the bathroom due to the shelf just above it.
- Ruben (8/5): - M/a
- Arwen (8/5): The Industrialist - location and comfortable beds!
quiet no view
no public restrooms after checkout
- Kimberley (7/5): Small but fine for what it was - We liked that the hotel was super close to a metrostop. About 20 minutes by subway to Manhattan. The room is very small, but it did have all the amenities we needed like an iron, showergels, shampoos etc. Christian at reception was very kind and helpful! As mentioned, the room was quite small, which we knew upon booking. It wasn't the most convenient travelling as two girls with two large suitcases. The panel above our shower was open, and we could see all electric wires. We did mention it, but we assume it couldn't be fixed as it wasn't during our stay.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Manuel (5/5): Passable - extremely small bathroom
- Troye (8/5): Very good -
- Gwendolyn (6/5): - The property is in a great location for accessing New York City.
The room was reasonable size for New York and comfortable.
My two complaints would be
1. There is no accessible restroom if you arrive prior to check-in.
2. Billing: I prepaid for my room and was charged the full amount again when I checked in again when I was checked out.
Have been told it will be five business days before I can have a refund of my $3500.
- Arlene (4/5): Disappointing - Bed was comfortable The property was dismal. The room was too small to be comfortable. The room configuration was not enjoyable. The bathroom was too small. We just wanted to get our room as soon as possible.
- Alasdair (6/5): - It felt a bit worn down. The sink was oddly placed and led to a lot of water dripping on the floor when washing hands or face. Overall ok, but wouldn't choose to stay there again.
- Billy (7/5): Good -
- Stefania (10/5): - The hotel was beautiful and clean and comfirtable, but the most important thing was the people. All the staff were amazing, super kind and helpful. That made my stay all the more unforgettable!
- Lourdes (8/5): Very good -
- Stuart (6/5): Pleasant -
- Gustaf (10/5): - Nice and sjmple
- lbonin (10/5): Sonder -worth a return - While basic and simple, the Sonder makes a good attempt at making it feel a little more upscale with lovely bedding and a nice shower. The sink was awkwardly placed outside the bathroom, so that one has to work to not spit on the floor when brushing teeth. The closet space is a shallow, but this was totally fine for a single person on a quick trip. It was also the least costly of hotels I had researched in the area I wanted. The highlight was Krishna at the Front desk who made me feel very welcome. Great location in Brooklyn.
- Katie (6/5): Great location, shabby room - Great location, and the man at the concierge was very friendly. There was practically zero soundproofing. The smoke detector over the bed had a flashing light that disrupted my sleep. Whoever designed the bathroom has never tried to wash their face -- it was impossible to do so without splashing water everywhere, and trying to fit one's head underneath the shelf over the sink. The overall renovation of the room left much to be desired.
- Presley (10/5): I’ll definitely stay again if I go to Brooklyn. - Excellent price and wonderful staff. Wish I had a king bed but queen was fine for a night.
- Carmen (6/5): - The room was cozy and clean. The staff were incredible! There was just a few issues with the key code system malfunctioning that left us trapped outside for a few hours late at night. Otherwise my review would be higher.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff was great but the room was very small.
- Yarenni (10/5): - Loved my stay at The Sonder. The hotel is great, comfy, and close to everything
- Ariel (2/5): Very poor -
- Hackney (7/5): Good - Location was good. Staff was friendly. Booking was very tiresome. Required so much information like copy of drivers license front and back — also photo. I will not book at Sonder again because of this issue!
- Y1282AOannettem (10/5): Exceeded my expectations - The staff is friendly and accommodating. The room was larger than I expected and the bed was very comfortable. My room did not face the street so was quiet and I got a good night’s sleep. The location is convenient to the R train and close to good restaurants and Atlantic terminal.
- Mary (8/5): Location - I loved the location. There was a subway stop directly across the street, and everything in Park Slope was within a short walking distance. The room was small but comfortable enough. I liked the no-frills vibe.
- TIFFANY Carissa (8/5): - My husband and I stayed for 3 nights (April 10–12, 2025), and overall, we had a pleasant experience. Check-in was smooth with easy access to the building and our room via app and door codes. The staff was young, friendly, and helpful throughout our stay.
The room itself was a bit on the smaller side and could benefit from more storage—especially in the bathroom. A small ledge or shelf inside the shower for items like loofahs and face wash would be a great addition. The sink is also quite compact, and the ledge above it sticks out far enough that you might bump your head while brushing your teeth.
On the bright side, the bedding was incredibly comfortable, and the linens felt high quality. We especially appreciated the full-length mirror and the large TV with access to personal streaming services. While there’s no mini fridge in the room, there is a microwave and a water fountain available in the lobby for shared use.
Overall, it was a stylish and convenient stay with a few minor design quirks—4 out of 5 stars.
- Rainer (3/5): Poor - Very small room and „micro-small“ refrigerator, sight to a roof, no restroom available after check-out
- Loreta (8/5): - The property was dirty, and no room services unless you pay for it USD 35.
- Anne Marie Francesca (10/5): - Good and very convenient location. It was good for a very low-maintenance stay, if you don’t require any immediate support it will get the job done. I liked that you can be very self-sufficient which is how I like to travel. The room was small, no coffee table or place to sit aside from the bed, but okay if you just need a place to sleep. Good that it had a hair dryer and iron small ironing board which is important especially for those in the city to work. Overall I will stay there again especially for how close it is to the subway stop.
- Keshelle (10/5): - Good stay!
- Giuseppe (5/5): more than decent after all: should have been informed on booking about the sink in the bedroom - no breakfast the sink in the bedroom ...
- Xena (10/5): Exceptional -
- sbagnasty (8/5): Sonder The Industrialist - The room was pretty small, but maybe they all are in NYC. So small, that I could put my suitcase anywhere but in the trundle under the bed. Christian at the desk was a rockstar. Great guy! Rinky Dink fridge that fit 3 soda cans.... and no where to set the espresso machine or fridge when it was plugged in. I didn't spend much time there regardless and when I did, it was in the lobby. Odd style of hotel. but it worked for what I needed.
