Guest Reviews
- Q5033LMrachelo (2/5): Do not go! Awful room. Terrible all inclusive. Barely 1 star. Awful food. Stay away. - All inclusive and food awful had to eat out for all meals. Hotel room was tired and dirty. Not 3 star wouldn’t even give 1!!
- ChloeRoden92 (4/5): There's a reason it's so cheap! - Room - full of ants. Fridge door was faulty and wouldn't always shut properly. Tiny shower, and the shower head fell off the wall and had to be hand held. Room was cleaned regularly though.
Pool area - clean and tidy. No blaring music, which was a nice bonus. Pool was warm.
Food - horrendous, and I couldn't believe how little choice there was. I'm easily pleased, but what was on offer was foul. Didn't help that there was no supermarket within walking distance, and our fridge was faulty. We ended up getting taxis to and from town so we could eat out.
Drink - all inclusive didn't incude spirits (just wine and beer). Couldn't get a hot drink either. Soft drinks tasted like they had no syrup in them.
Staff - friendly and helpful.
Surrounding area - nothing was within close proximity walking distance, but a €10 taxi will get you into the main town, with lots of nice bars, restaurants, arcades and shops. Beach was also lovely.
Worth mentioning - be sure to take cash to this hotel - air con costs €8 daily, and the hotel does not have a card reader or ATM nearby. Also, if you're arriving in the early hours of the morning, be sure to grab some drinks from the airport - the hotel does not have a vending machine for drinks and snacks, and there are no shops nearby.
- gracegX2502LF (4/5): AVOID THE ALL INCLUSIVE - The hotel itself wasn’t that bad, rooms were cleaned, nice staff, good location ect. However the food was literally inedible, we payed for all inclusive and ate out every meal. The first two days we did try but it was beyond disgusting. The breakfast was edible but it wasn’t very nice and on the second day, my friend left his sausages and the chef came over and asked if he was finished, when he said yes he put his left over sausages back in the pot, that was our final straw. Also the drinks do not include spirits or cocktails they aren’t even offered at the hotel, just cheap local beer and wine and soft drinks. As I said the hotel itself wasn’t bad at all, the only complaint I have is that there was no proper shower, you had to basically just hold it and shower yourself which was annoying. Also worth mentioning that there are no cushions on the sun beds it’s just plastic. It’s not an awful hotel but I would definitely avoid doing all inclusive, there are so many places to eat out nearby and Malia isn’t too expensive so save your money, and your stomach and just eat out.
- Z4289AIkrisa (2/5): Family holiday - The hotel should be rated 1 star, no more. We have stayed in 3-star hotels before, but this was far from that standard. The room was quite small, with no chance to unpack our things. The fridge, although small and covered in scratches, worked pretty well.
The bathroom was horrible! The shower needs to be replaced — even my 12-year-old son found it too small to use. You have to pay €8 per day for air conditioning, and there is no air conditioning in any other part of the hotel, including the kitchen and dining area. Can you imagine 36°C outside and how hot it was in the dining room? It was unbearable, and not even suitable for keeping food fresh.
The food was terrible — no variety, bread was not fresh, and they reused food from the previous day to prepare dishes for the next day. There was no real selection of fruit, only watermelon and canned peaches.
Cleanliness was another problem. There was only one cleaner for the whole hotel. When she was sick one day, no one replaced her, and the cleaning simply didn’t happen.
The description of how close the hotel is to the beach was completely wrong. It was actually quite far, across a grassy area.
The swimming pool was small but nice and clean. The only positive was that the staff were really friendly and helpful. However, the overall condition of the hotel was very poor, and it needs major improvements.
- stevenbR8896JL (2/5): Diabolical - terrible experience, caught the owner urinating into a plastic cup at the inside bar. shower flooded everytime wich left the room soaking wet. It was like you wasnt allowed to talk at all in the hotel. Got told to be quiet everytime we spoke around the hotel
- bellak873 (8/5): - Past reviews are unfair!! The hotel is clean and does the job. Food is pretty standard but once again isn’t horrific. Staff is all friendly but it can be difficult for young groups as hotel is small and they do not like the loud!! Angelica on the pool bar is sooo lovely and made our experience much better. If they improve the all inclusive drinks list it can become a much better experience for those looking for a fun girls or lads trip. Is slightly further from the strip than what google says but is an easy walk.
- Road60485970936 (6/5): Mid - It was a good hotel for a girls holiday as it was cheap and basic, however the staff were very strict with noise. We got told off for talking in our hotel room at 6pm because it was ‘nap time’. The room was basic and the shower was tiny and easily flooded, and by the end of the stay the toilet flush broke. The food was minimal and they didn’t serve a lot, the food was nice tho. Overall it was an average stay and I probably wouldn’t come here if I wasn’t on a girls holiday on a tight budget
- jetmirw2025 (2/5): Definitely not a 3* hotel. More like a 1* - This hotel was apparently a 3 star hotel....FAR FROM IT.
First of all, the hotel and the rooms are incredibly outdated, it is almost like being in a prison cell. The bathroom is shocking, that even having a decent shower is impossible, and not to forget the rooms smell. The beds are very uncomfortable so a decent night sleep is unlikely.
To top this off as well, they charge 8 euros per night to have aircon....??
Second of all, the location of the hotel is shocking, you are looking at a 30 minute walk to the closest beach despite stating its a 10 minute walk on the hotel advert. The hotel is placed by a main road which can get really loud which cars and people.
Lastly, the food is shocking, 95% of the time it is the same recycled food being given. You want fruits? there's NONE. What about desserts? NONE.
Wouldn't recommend if you want peace of mind and half decent food.
- georgiawU435MB (10/5): very pleasant experience - beds are really comfortable, staff are very helpful and friends food could be better but it could be so much worse, absolutely no hassle at all reviews are very deceptive as it is a lovely hotel and has all the facilities you would need, about a 10 min walk from the strip and reception can call taxis ect at any time if needed.
- iPrzemyslaw (2/5): Disappointing Stay – Bad Food, Poor Service, and Unsafe Conditions - strongly DO NOT recommend this hotel. The food was a total disaster – old, reheated, and repurposed day after day. Everything was dry and tasteless. If someone rates the food higher than 2, we must have eaten something completely different. The drinks were no better: water, soda, beer, coffee, and hot chocolate, all without any “wow” factor. The drinks were so sweet that your teeth hurt just thinking about it.
The hotel itself desperately needs renovation. Loose tiles, worn-out furniture, and no lifeguard at the pool – a real safety hazard. The staff was constantly watching what guests took and what wasn’t eaten – I felt like I was back in elementary school. On top of that, room service entered the room as if it were their own space, without knocking. In 7 days, they only knocked twice. There aren’t even any signs to request privacy.
I completely do not recommend this place and will never return.
- igap733 (8/5): Hotel with a potential - We spent an all inclusive holiday at Triton Garden.
The hotel needs renovation, however our room was clean and was cleaned everyday. The only thing that was disgusting is the shower courtain - I think it hangs there since the 90s.
We had a really nice view - sea and mountains from a big balcony. The sunrises were spectacular!
The pool is fine. We really appreciated the fact that there was actually nothing noisy surrounding the hotel, so we could relax.
The staff is really friendly and helpful.
The food - I am a really picky eater, but I was not hungry during our stay. The breakfasts were 10/10. Two types of eggs every day, Greek yogurt, delicious tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers. The whole-wheat bread was not eatable, but the white one was better ( I am not sure if it is not a Greek thing that the breadstuff is not so good). Lunches and dinners were much worse, however there was fish every day. I said to my husband that something was delicious only once - grilled veggies and fish (I don’t know what that was exactly because the food was not labeled). Drinks - alcohol only beer and white and red wine. They were fine.
The hotel is 15minute walk from Potamos Beach - much, much better than the one in the Malia’s center. Bus stop just in front of the hotel. City center with restaurant and souvenir shops - 10 minutes walk. The location was perfect for us as we were looking for peace and quiet, but when we got bored, we could easily reach some of the attractions.
To sum up, the hotel has a potential and if the food was better - I would not mind all the bad sides. If you are not going to stay at the hotel for long, or are you going to sightsee a lot the hotel seems all right.
- H5160LDdenises (2/5): Absolutely terrible! - Absolutely terrible experience.
Please do not book!!! Trust me when I say it is an awful hotel. Rooms are dated, balcony’s are filthy, shower was falling apart, you have to pay €8 for Air Con EACH NIGHT, TV didn’t work.
And that was just the rooms…. All inclusive is DISGUSTING! No labels on the food so you don’t know what you’re eating, only 6 hot dishes, flies all over the food, the drinks are only wine and beer. It’s an all inclusive hotel and it’s ONLY WINE AND BEER!!!!! No spirits, no cocktails.
- Chips are stale, chicken is chewy, poor quality meat, breakfast is terrible.
- No bottles of water in the rooms.
- No vending machine in the hotel.
- Shop is about a 15 min walk on a dodgy road.
- No staff around in the nighttime.
- Pool is dirty and surrounds are covered in bird poo.
- Parasols are rusty and spokes are all coming out.
- Ant infested balcony.
- Broken balcony doors.
- Bacteria ridden pool shower.
ALL INCLUSIVE STOPS AT 10PM!!!!!
Hotel is FILTHY, DISGUSTING, OUT DATED, NOT FRIENDLY.
Please please do not book here.
The pictures speak for themselves …….
- Ana (10/5): Exceptional - The staf is 5 star
- kamilx2019 (10/5): Niko - Best Barman i the world Niko and very good people around very good place whit good workers and good food but Best is Niko 😉😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
- OnAir65911657028 (2/5): I don’t reccomend you to book this place - Never coming back again. Book ONLY if you need a place to sleep during nights. Spending time at the hotel was not fun. The pool chairs were dirty, with bird fecalia over them, looked like they don’t get cleaned at all.
By the pool area there were quiet a few cockroaches just crawling around.
At the bar there was only local red and white wine which tasted horrible, beer was okay. No coctails, no other choice of alcohol.
Coffee at the bar you can get only 15:00 and at the diner only during breakfast.
You can’t bring towels from the hotel to the pool and you can’t even rent them.
Our bedsheets were not changed a single time during our 7 day stay there, the room was not cleaned and there were no brooms or cleaning supplies that we could use ourselves.
No air conditioning. I guess we had to ask for it but we didn’t want as it would require us to pay them money for it.
Food, very simple, a lot of it tasted a bit stale, like it’s been there for several days, without any taste. One day we even felt sick from the food as it was very oily.
- Madagr (10/5): Great stay - Great stay! We were very satisfied with our stay. We have been there one week and felt great. The staff is very friendly and the food was amazing . It was worth the stay, we have received more than we expected as it was a cheap deal.
Would definitely recommend!
- Shevchenko (10/5): Best trip ever - All is perfect Nothing
- Dagmara (8/5): Very good -
- Giourant (7/5): Good - No wi-fi
- Fruzsi01 (4/5): I would have gladly asked for the price back.. - We paid for all-inclusive food, the fact is that the meal was buffet-style unlimited consumption, but with poor quality food! The selection was limited, there was absolutely no variety. At breakfast, there were 2 kinds of cold meats, eggs, and "baby" sausages that tasted bad. Cucumbers and tomatoes were the everyday vegetables. The fruit selection wasn't too big either, melons or grapefruits. The main dishes weren't very varied either...we also saw the meatballs in 3 different ways... .. and other unrecognizable, tasteless dishes. Of course, you can't cook well for all guests, but it's a bit annoying that you pay full board and have to go to restaurants every day to be able to eat delicious food. (We spent 7 days in the hotel, but on the 4th day we didn't even attend the dinner.) Among the drinks, draft beer, wine and soft drinks can be consumed in unlimited quantities. Coffee is only available at specified times. Soft drinks are not included in the package and must be paid separately. The rooms are quite old and could be improved, but they are clean! The staff is very nice, especially Smiley!

- Emanuel (4/5): Disappointing -
- Catania (8/5): Very good - Pool area and the view from the balcony were fantastic. Bed are very comfortable and you can have a perfect sleep. Food was a bit poor and the bar has limited alcohol even if you want to buy
- Viktor (8/5): Price-value is perfect. Good choice for a short break. - Hotel staff was very friendly. Nikita at the pool bar is the best 🍾
Food was great! Local food!
- Anonymous (9/5): Superb - easy walking distance to town and beech
- Michael (9/5): Very friendly staff, and pretty good rooms - Breakfast good, location great Disabled facilities could have been better
- Natalie (8/5): Very good -
- Kevinwhiteman (4/5): Horrible hotel with only one upside - I will start of with this review with the single positive side, the bar man from 2pm - 10pm (Nikita) is a lovely guy who made our stay in this hotel bearable! He is very welcoming and always up for a good chat, along with being the ONLY member of staff that can speak English.
The pool was ok and fairly quiet, however you must bring your own towels as bringing a towel from your room is "forbidden".
The rest of the hotel is poor! The room quality is ridiculous. To start the TV was from the 1960's and didn't even turn on!
It was 8 euros a day for air conditioning... and you really can't sleep without it as its so hot. We stayed for 2 weeks, costing us 132 euros for air-conditioning...
Almost all the staff (Other than Nikita) were rude and unaccomadating. We asked for air conditioning for one day and this was "Forbidden" we asked for a towel on our last day after we checked out and got laughed at..
The food was average, made worse by the fact we had to eat in a sweat box of a "resturaunt" because having air conditioning in the resturaunt is "forbidden".
If you are planning on coming to crete, find a better hotel!
- Bolethehighwaythunder (10/5): Just great - The best and unique staff I ever meet!!!
- Emmaloulouxxx (10/5): An amazing stay! - We had the best 10 day all inclusive holiday here!!
For a 3 star, small, Greek hotel, it was brilliant for the price!
I read so many poor reviews this place and some of them couldn’t be more wrong!
We arrived at about midnight and obviously the restaurant was shut. The older man at reception was the loveliest of people!! He gave us a bottle of water and showed us to our room. Yes, you have to pay tourism tax when you arrive and it’s cash only, we were aware of this when we booked via On The Beach. (You have to pay tourism tax which ever hotel you book).
All staff were super chatty, kind, smiley and lovely!! The men on reception were so lovely, welcoming and even waved us off on the coach to the airport!
Even when some guests were unkind to them, complaining and being very rude, they were very helpful and kept their cool!
The rooms are old fashioned, yes, but it’s very Green and is a 3 star! You do have to pay extra for air conditioning, but we didn’t need to. We loved our room, balcony and view!
The food amazing!! Yes, it was limited choice, but once again, it’s only a 3 star and they don’t have many guests, it would just be a waste to have more! Freshly cooked, different choices everyday and we loved it!
All inclusive drinks are only fizzy drinks, beer and wine, hot drinks at breakfast and 3-5pm, but we were super happy with that! Payable drinks weren’t that expensive either, we treated ourselves to 3 cocktails for €12, freshly made and lovely!!
Pool area is brilliant!! A shallow to deep pool, deep end is very deep but great for jumping in! Lots of sun beds and chairs, great sunshine all day and a pool bar! Pool is open 9am - 8pm, pool bar is open 10am - 10pm.
The wildlife is a little noisy, but that’s being abroad for you! Crickets, goats, sheep, chickens and dogs near by but never unbearable noise!
The hotel is about a 20 minute walk from the strip and about 15 minutes from the harbour and beaches. Easy walking!!
Honestly, we had the best 10 days ever!!
- Connore910 (10/5): Phillip - Just visited in July with my friends.
Hotel is alright for what we paid and service is average.
But the real 5 star review comes from Phillip who works there, went above and beyond for us while we stayed. Phillip is top G.
Cheers Phillip for your service
- 375edytag (2/5): STAY AWAY FROM TRITON GARDEN!!! - ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE HOTEL!!!
STAY AWAY FROM TRITON GARDEN!!!
The all inclusive basic is a joke 😡
After a whole day of traveling me and my daughter arrived at the hotel at 10pm. I had paid for all inclusive yet when I got to the hotel I was told to pay €12 in cash without a reason. In the hotel you are not allowed to pay by card at all only cash.
We arrived hungry after travelling all day just to find out the kitchen was only untill 9 and was closed by the time we arrived. The person at the desk said to go to the town centre and buy ourselves food if we were hungry.
The hotel is very secluded over 2km away from the town centre and the beach, furthermore the journey to the town centre after sunset can be dangerous as there is very little street lamps and no one around making me and my daughter very uncomfortable on our first night.
There is air conditioning in the rooms however you have to pay 8€ daily which I was not informed about. The temperature during the day is over 30 degrees in the shade and in the night over 23 degrees everyday making it almost impossible to relax or sleep especially without Ac.
For people trying to relax there is little chance of getting good sleep as right outside the balcony of our room there was goats and other animal noises will wake you up at 4am everyday, not forgotting the dogs that bark all night long.
The hotel staff are very unwelcoming they are always watching you no matter what you are doing or where you are from the front desk to eating in the 'restaurant' making you feel as if they are judging every portion of food you put on your plate.
Food at the hotel is no better. Its disgusting and you have the same thing almost everyday. For example stinky scrambled eggs frim breakfast end up at lunch mixed with some cucumber and tomatoes. 'ham' from breakfast land in tomato sauce of lunch and dinner.
You can only drink coffee at breakfast (8-10) or buy the pool baf between 3 and and 5. Soft and fizzy drinks are cheap and from a machine local beer, wine and some soft drinks are the only options with the all inclusive anyother drinks such as cocktails or vodka you have to pay for same goes for any crisps.
The hotel is old and in need of renovation for example the shower is tiny and its impossible to not splash the whole of the bathroom when showering.
We had asked to move rooms and in the first room we were in the bathroom door only locked from the outside and in the other room it didnt close at all.
There is a small fridge in the room which is very loud especially at night and inside its all broken. Closet doors also didnt close.
After paying 8€ a day for ac we had a 'private pool' on our balcony as water from the ac kept leaking and dripping onto it.
- LUVMALIA2233 (4/5): Triton Garden Malia - The food was below average at best, you would probably get better meals at HMP. The night time manager, Phil, was extremely helpful and looked out for me and my 8 other mates, unlike the day time manager who was a nightmare to deal with and blamed a lot of the hotels issues on us, including slamming doors, broken door frames as well as other things. The hotel rooms were below par, with some not even having a shower head holder, and others not even having a 3rd bed which was advertised. Overall if you’re going for a piss up with your mates it’ll do for the week, with it being a 10/15 minute walk from the strip, if you aren’t on a piss up. STAY AWAY FROM TRITON GARDEN!!!
- 303warrenp (6/5): It was ok for the price we paid :) - Myself and two friends visited the hotel for a week all inclusive. The all inclusive drinks package was very basic the drinks you could have was beer wine uzo and raki. The food did change often but it was abit strange at times but the pasta was usually good. The manager Nikos is amazing he is a great guy he would know you from the start of the holiday to the end. The night shift manager Emmanuel is also nice as long as you dont make loads of noise in the night leaving the hotel for nights out and arriving home. The hotel is situated about a ten minute walk from the malia strip which is great. The strip is so cheap for drinks and has great clubs the only downside is the reps who all stand at the front of each bar basically dragging you in but when you get past that after the first night it is all good. The only really negative part for us was that we were coming home at around 5-6 am the cleaners came to clean the room everyday but they come between 10am and 6am but it doesnt matter if you are sleeping they come into the room even if you are in there and tell you to get up as they clean the room everyday which is abit much. Even if you didnt want it cleaning everyday they dont care.
Overall for the price we paid for a week in Malia can't complain that much to be honest.
- V3927WVkennethc (10/5): All inclusive triton garden - Our summer holiday 2019 was at the triton garden hotel malia. We arrived at Heraklion airport, got our transfer bus which dropped us at the wrong hotel. Had to get a taxi to our hotel but thankfully only €7. We got 14 days at hotel. In the morning we met nicos the hotel manager. What a really nice man. Can’t do enough for you. The food is tasty and always well presented. All the staff at this hotel, from cleaners to managers are friendly polite and genuinely nice people. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.
- Beyondbedlam (2/5): Avoid avoid avoid! - The only positive I can provide is the manager Nickos, a truly helpful and lovely man who would do anything to make your stay more comfortable.
Just returned after a week of allegedly all inclusive holiday. What they dont tell you is that's only for your meals, which are dire (no toast making facilities) and local brewed alcohol and soft drinks, these taste awful!
You have to pay an extra 10 euros a day to be able to drink the better stuff, why?
You also have to pay for daily use of the wifi for each device, again why?
The bedside pools only lay flat which is extremely uncomfortable, the shower has no hook to hold it up and is so small you can barely get in it as well as always flooding the floor.
The rooms at the front are bigger but are too close to a very busy road that doesn't quieten down.
Neighbours dogs bark all night without concern.
Night porter is rude and means at you for getting in after 10.
Apparently you get a star for having 24 hour reception, where the other two come from I have no idea.
A very unpleasant experience only made better after meeting a lovely Scottish couple otherwise I would avoid this place until someone puts serious investment into it.
