Guest Reviews
- Sharon (2/5): - The lodge is permanently closed. Noone has let us know despite payment being made in full. We are stuck in the middle of nowhere in very cold weather with nowhere to sleep tonight.
- GERSON (2/5): - The hotel was totally closed and the parking lot was deserted without any cars. The hotel lights were off!
- Brian (8/5): - Room was clean and tidy, booking into the property was nice and easy in the food store. staff and parking very good good.
However there were leaks everywhere in the corridors and full buckets of water from plumbing leaks which for whatever reason are not being fixed.
- Verified traveler (6/5): OK - On arrival,. we walked to the hotel, only to find that you had to sign in at the Asda Express in the Petrol Services, which was unexpected.
Later, an issue developed in the room and the friendly staff promptly moved us to another room to solve the issue, for the rest of our stay. The rooms are spacious and the decor is nice. If not for the issue, I would give an 8/10
- Geoffrey (6/5): - We stayed at this hotel last year . And there was a water leak from the ceiling 12 months on there’s the same leak it would appear to be a lack of maintenance . It’s small things that let this hotel down for instance there was no mirror in the bathroom there was no plug for the sink both of which I reported to a member of staff . The staff are great and go out of their way to help you . On the plus side it good value the room was ok . It’s lack of maintenance let let’s it but this not the staffs fault
- Lisa (2/5): - Dirty room with cobwebs and hairs everywhere.
No toilet seat lid, no sink drainer, dirty walls in shower.
Marks on bed sheets, bed untidy when entering room.
Buckets along the corridor to catch the water, boarded up door at entrance with maddi r stain on carpet. Have never stayed anywhere so disgusting.
- Joseph (4/5): - No ac or fridge or microwave, very dirty and poor but you get what you pay for
- Louise (6/5): - Upon arrival there was a sign informing us we needed to check in at the Asda express across the petrol forecourt. One of the main door windows was smashed and a bucket collecting rain water.
Our room was next to the doors and right outside was the smoking area so the window stayed closed even though it was 28 degrees and humid. Bed was comfy though. You get what you pay for i guess
- Raga (10/5): - This property surprised me. Because of the economical price I was a little worried that it could be 'not good' and possibly noisy. I was pleasantly surprised. The room was quiet and clean and I slept really well.
- Gareth (10/5): - A real surprise. As good as many a top hotel for a quarter the price. Spotless, comfortable, generous tea and coffee and biscuits in the room. Large flat screen tv. Excellent mattress. Plenty of toiletries.plenty of luxurious towels. Was quiet although close to the road. Slept like a top. What’s not to like?
- Verified traveler (4/5): Poor - Check in perfect, member of staff friendly. Got into property to find lots of flys, moths and midgies in our room. My other half spent about 15 mins killing them onto walls, please note there were also evidence of this been done previously. Few spiderwebs in room, showing how room had not been cleaned to a high standard.
- timothy (8/5): - very clean room , the pillows could of been better, but overall good place to stay and would go back
- James (4/5): - Raglan lodge has roof issues as in it leaks. Corridors littered with buckets and washing up bowls collecting water. Ceiling tiles missing in various places. Carpets look vile and the whole place stinks probably due to all the water. The 24 hour so called reception is in a petrol station opposite. Had to wait whilst the staff served 10 customers even after they said I would be next. This place is a serious safety hazard.
- Candice (2/5): - Arrived and couldn’t believe that we had to check in across the road in the service station. Little did I know that this would be the least of our worries. The strench in the lobby would knock you sick, then you opened the door to the room and were met with a corridor full of missing ceiling tiles, overflowing buckets of water and the worst smell of stagnant water ! The room was filthy, badly patched up walls which have probably been punched cos it was easier to punch the wall than the person who booked it. There was dried up sick by one of the beds and spiders which had been splattered on the walls. The linen was ok which the moths seemed to love as each time the covers were turned over there was another one! The toilet would regularly have siestas and flushed when it wanted it to. I made the mistake of booking this “hotel” without reading the reviews cos I think most people who write reviews are moaners I wish I had and you have to do a 14 mile diversion if you want to enter the hotel via the correct way!!! Save your £50 and buy a tent there will be less creepy crawlies than room 38!!
- Rebecca (6/5): - Unfortunately the property was falling apart in the corridors and the carpet smelt of damp with leakages of the ceilings, with a lot of buckets in the corridors collecting water. Rooms itself was standard, didn’t get mugs for our room, we had to get them ourselves front the services as that’s where the check in was.
- Mritoon (8/5): - Lodge entrance was dirty and smelling bad. Corridors were smelling mouldy due to water leaks from the roof. Room and bathroom was tidy. Ample parking.
- Allyson (8/5): - It was fine for a short stay, unfortunately they had leaking pipes which made the place smell musty. Otherwise it was very good.
- Ian (6/5): - The outside of the lodge suggests it should be a well maintained property. But your first entry through the front door spoke volumes as to what was to come. As we entered we saw overflowing bins of rubbish and filthy carpets well overdue for a vacuum and shampoo. Now on to the room and the corridors. Many buckets catching but mostly missing dripping water from pipes in the ceilings. The corridors were an obstacle course of buckets, ceiling tiles and wet carpets and the overwhelming smell of damp damage. The room at first glance looked Ok. The bed had been changed and was comfortable. Nothing was missing from the room. But later we did find the toilet had a loose base and was a little bit discerting. The shower although hot was way too powerful and overwhelmed the shower curtain. Inturn because the shower base was not deep enough and the curtain took short. The carpet in our room was stained and dirty. With some time and money spent in the right places this place could be very good.
- Christine L (8/5): - Convenient for our needs to the local area.
- Nicola (2/5): - Dirty, waiting over an hour for bedding. No plug for the bath. Buckets all down the hall way for leaking roof water, stagnant water smell
- John (2/5): - The place was dirty leaking roof my first room the toilet was constantly running shower curtain and pole where abandoned in the corner behind the door the second room they gave us had apparently just been cleaned but it was dirty the bath had a few inches of dirty water in with floating dirty toilet roll in it
- Verified traveler (6/5): Did the job - For the price it is ok considering it was the cheapest in the area.
However the doors slam quite loudly, also I found the room smelt a lot of smoke which for a non smoker wasn't great.
Finally there was a very bright light outside the room and the blind didn't block it.
Apart from that the room did the job.
- Teresa (10/5): - First impressions were very good . Bathroom door handle was not secure (just pushed on ) the bedding seemed clean and fresh but i stripped the beds in the morning and the duvets were badly stained
- Steve (4/5): - Then Location was convenient for our purposes. The room was ok. The bathroom floor was dirty in the corners/edges, and the sofa bed was dirty underneath. The pillows and sheets on the sofa bed were not clean. There were many obvious leaks throughout the property.
The external services were fine, I.e. Greggs, Starbucks etc. although the communal seating areas were not clean.
- Mindaugas (8/5): - Easy to check in, quite and good location. The only downside was tidiness, room looked not been cleaned at all. Only one toilet paper roll and tiny amount of toiletries for a five night stay was a downside. As well no soap.
- Ed (10/5): - Property was nice i didnt like the check in what was at the service station waiting in line for people to pay for shopping and fuel it took ages the room could of done with a fan in them as it was hot and if you opened the window you could hear the cars/lorries drive past and finding the hotel using the postcode supplied i got lost maybe tgats my own fault but the room was lovely new style and clean i wouldnt say it was a bad experience at all just a little hot
- lee (2/5): - Leaks all down the corridor, smells of damp, blind was broken in the room. Asked for the sofa bed to be made up for when we arrived. It wasn’t made up, went to the garage which is where you check in and was asked if I’d not brought my own covers!! Avoid avoid
- Gee (10/5): - I would have given higher marks had the communal areas (entrance) been hoovered a little more. Despite some of the negative reviews I stayed in Rm 24 and had absolutely no complaints about it. Staff were really helpful
- Richard (4/5): - Property is in a terrible condition, smells damp, leaks in the roof. Salem as it used to be a great place to stay and I hear that the new owners are going to address all the property’s issues. Every time I’ve stayed here though there has always been a problem with the housekeeping not cleaning the room, or no sheets etc, and the standard of the cleaning is poor. Really hope it improves, staff at the garage on reception are always helpful.
- Andrew (2/5): - Pretty grim place to stay. Ripped towels, many stains on the carpet in the room, tired decor, broken towel rail, skid marks in the loo pan, moth casts & cobwebs in the corners, rock hard pillows and bed. WiFi was a hotspot off the TV which kept disconnecting very two minutes - I gave up and used my phone hotspot instead.
No staff in the hotel building, the only place to get food was from the services, either a Greggs, burger king or Asda so not much choice and you'll be paying over the odds.
- Shaida (10/5): - 24hr check in, friendly staff but had to drive to the next junction and turn around to go in the other direction
- Karen (2/5): - DIRTY!! The room had clearly been quickly hoovered not edges or behind doors as thick dust, with mud &cobwebs clearly visible, twigs in the cupboard with only 1 hanger. Hair in the bath&toilets with brown splashes. Black mold clearly visible in grouting and corner of bedroom ceiling. Under the headboard was dirty tissues & under the bed & sofa, a multitude of rubbish. Booked a twin room, only 1 bed made up and no spare bedding. No Hand towel for the bathroom & the toiletries dish still soapy from a previous use. The glasses had drips and marks all over them. Bin had splashes all over the side, long crayon marks on the wall by entrance door & next to bedroom mirror. The bedding bottom sheet didnt fit. A message saying a sign for cleaners to leave room or clean-was not present so no top ups, or cleaning. Every walkthrough hallway had a hole in the ceiling with a bucket underneath, 1 clearly overflowing.
Message saying to check in at the Spar by petrol station-there ISNT one, its an Asda express with one member of staff, not being anything to do with their business.
On driving into the petrol station there is no way back into the carpark, as its on a bypass a 3mile drive to get back. The map suggests its further from the road & satnavs suggest you can access the hotel from the small country road on the side, this is not the case or even a drive into the petrol station.
- richard (4/5): Dirty - Dirty carpets, rusty shower head and blocked sink. It’s a dump.
- Sophie (2/5): - Was pretty bad! Hallway stunk and messy, roof leaks throughout! Room had previous persons rubbish still in it, in bathroom too. Couch was broken. No TV remote. Rubbish and fitlh on bathroom floor. And to top it off, cleaner burst into my room without knocking 30mins before check out, while i was only in my towel! Avoid!!
- Craig (6/5): - It was quiet and useful being so close to monmouth
- Peter (2/5): - We have tried to raise our issues with the hotel directly, but have not received a response.
There were leaking pipes in the ceiling throughout the hotel with panels missing and plastic buckets collecting water strewn across corridors with no markings or warning signs.
There were numerous other issues with the hotel and, sadly, even for bargain hunters, this hotel was simply not worth the 'budget' level pricing.
- Mandy (4/5): - Wouldn’t really recommend people to stay here! Not tje
- Verified traveler (4/5): Raglan lodge - So when we turned up there is no one to speak to. There was a notice to say you have to collect your key card from the Asda express service station. When we then got back to the hotel there was water stain as you go in the main door then three buckets collecting water from the pipes in ceiling along our corridor. Ok the room and bathroom were of ok standard and clean. However the bathroom mirror was covered in water marks and needed a clean. The double bed had a poor standard of mattress which felt like you are laying on a wooden board. There is no onsite cafe only the Starbucks, Burger King, Greggs and subway. In all the stay was the same price as our other night at a travel lodge who provided better comfort and staff for onsite.
To make it a better stay I would prefer staff onsite for any problems and security.
- Anna (6/5): - The whole
Corridor stank of weed and this smell permeated into our room. Overall the facilities and room were very good value for money, however, the stench did spoil the stay.
- Lucy (2/5): Awful stay - Checked in and left 5 minutes later due to carpet being sodden and an awful smell of damp. The whole building was in a very poor state of repair. This building is hazardous to human health. All requests for refunds have been ignored.
The man on the check in desk at the garage however was very pleasant and efficient and this review in no way reflects on him.
- Franklin Jr (10/5): ASDA Express and Petrol Station near by - You've got all what you need if your planning to visit Raglan Castle as we did. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and it was nice and comfortable. Easy check in. Give your car's license plate so you won't pay for parking. Highly recommended. A+++
- Chris (6/5): - room was ok but basic, sheets clean etc so room not bad at all, hall way to room had three buckets in full of water from leaking roof down the corridor
myroom was ok apart from the carpet around the bathroom was wet and stained, looked like a vandal had left the taps intentially running, hotel cant be blamed for this. overall as a single man needing a 1 night stay for business it was no frills and ok
- Colin (6/5): Decent room for the price - The bathroom mirror looked like it'd been cleaned with a dirty rag, cobwebs in the ceiling, and the mattresses were quite hard. The room was a good size however, and the shower was hot and excellent. Great location for easy access to Newport. Service station right next door.
- Dawn (10/5): A good Budget stay - Very convenient location. Rooms are a bit dated but for an overnight stay was alright.
- Jeffrey (6/5): - Beds and mattresses need to be replaced immediately and the pillows
- SIMON (8/5): - Absolutely fine for an overnight stay. Room was clean and tidy, the shower was decent. Would stay there again.
- Peter (4/5): - Basically a motorway service station. Staff were rude on arrival. Your keys needs collecting from the petrol station . Whole building smelled damp and musty. The room was cold on opening up , the cleaner however had left the heater on full so on our return from the afternoon out the room was unbearable. I wouldn't book again.
- Leigh (2/5): - Bad stuff in order: Got key from understandably stressed petrol station operator. You'll be fined in you dont register your reg number accurately. Walked across petrol forecourt to get to accommodation. Inside, buckets in multiple locations to catch drips from leaky roof. Strong damp smell from all carpets in shared areas. Once in room, grubby, old carpets, small 4'6" double bed. Heater off, cold for 30 minutes at least. Multiple issues in shower room - toilet roll holder broken/gone, toilet and its backboard moved alarmingly when you sat on it. No shelf for soap etc. Residue on shower tray. TV remote didnt work - went back over to Asda/petrol station and they replaced batteries - still didnt work. TV had literally one button to control all its functions, I kid you not. We were next to main door which banged loudly every few minutes until about midnight. OK, so it was cheapish (we paid £43) but frankly if you buy a site like that (which was surprisingly busy) for millions, you'd need to put some of your loadsa money into making it to modern, western standards. I've stayed in better places in Egypt.
- Andrew (6/5): - Cost was outstanding- £40.
Room was massive and clean
Mattress was terrible- like a camping mattress.
Toilet and bath didn’t function properly.
Was very clean.
Overall- you get what you pay for and the value for money here was pretty good.
It’s good basic
- M (8/5): Basic but good value - Basic but good value
- Verified traveler (2/5): Not satisfied - Went into room, was cold, cobwebs all over the place, rubbish still in bins, pillows dirty, the room smelt damp and rotten.
Wasn’t expecting this, the photos on website are not what the room was.
We didn’t even stay, very disappointed.
The hallways were all marked and dirty, the carpets were stained and just had a horrible damp smell.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good stay - The room was just as shown on the photos. I had seen some negative reviews so had some apprehension, but there were no problems on our visit. Comfortable beds, hot water, good heating, reasonable carpet; 24/7 Asda shop and other facilities at the service station. No fridge or cooking facilities, but I took a microwave and had no problems.
Overall the property seems to have some maintenance issues with various buckets strategically placed to catch drips in the foyer and one corridor: but these didn't detract from our stay. The in-room booklet was out of date and tatty, but we managed fine.
Be aware there's no access from A40 westbound. Use the minor road from Monmouth to Raglan, or go beyond (towards Abergavenny) to Raglan and do a U-turn.
- Mark (6/5): - Convenient and cheap stay, but place could be cleaner and a lot of repairs required, the buckets for leaks isn't a great selling point.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Good value but could do with a good clean
- Sarah (6/5): - Room was fine- bed not very comfortable and small!
- Kate (6/5): - Sofa bed was not made up yet again had to ring again for bedding for sofa bed to be bought to us
- Kate (6/5): - Stay was ok apart from the last few times we have stayed the sofa bed has not been made up. Also have had to ring for bedding as well.
- Paul (10/5): Very happy - Pleasant lodge clean and comfortable great value for money
- stuart (8/5): - Easy access
- Eustacia (6/5): - I cant complain in regards to the price, customer service was good, key collection is from the garage (strange but at least 24hrs, its 24hrs, so strange, but at least its open, we arrived around 1am, due to a road closure, garage seemed empty, friendly helpful gentleman sorted it all wen i arrived, also got discount at burger king, cant lie you could smell the mustyness in the air, and the duvet didnt have a cover, but we were just using it as a quick stop over, as we had to be somewhere early, shower was good, toiletries and towels provided, also provides tea coffee and also hot chocolate with biscuits which the kids enjoyed, overall was ok, done the job and was cheap, staff helpful and next to the motor way, few more automatic air fresheners might make all the difference, and better bedding,
- Kate (2/5): - Room was dump and smelt off dump not good got woke up early hours as people where slamming doors
- Josh (2/5): - Unfortunately this time was not a good experience.
Wet/damp bedding, unclean room, understaffed to resolve any issues, 1/2 a toilet roll, dirty cups.
Totally unacceptable that my partner had to use the towels provided to clean the room & have photos to show this.
& then after making the room to a standard that was acceptable to stay in we realised the bedding was damp - no answer on reception to report this so had to walk to the garage which in fairness to the manager he did give us a new room but this meant more hassle of packing all our belongings & moving to a new room which still was not of good standards in relation to cleanliness.
We have stayed here several times in the last 2 weeks but the standards have deteriorated fast.
Check in times have also been an issue as it clearly states 2pm but have been made to wait with no remorse/apology or sympathy as they were understaffed so the rooms were not ready & would have to wait until the staff contacted the cleaner and confirmed the rooms had been cleaned and ready. Was even told by a member of staff to give her 10 minutes at 2pm to confirm with the cleaning staff the rooms were ready.
It clearly states when you pay for your room that checking in was at 2pm. But when it comes to 10am checking out the cleaning staff open the door and question if you’re due to check out that morning.
When you book a hotel for an occasion checking time is vital!
Will not be recommending to anyone, completely & unprofessional standards!
- Elliot (4/5): - No remote for tv
- Rob (4/5): - Needs some maintenance, Blinds were broken, window didn't shut properly so it was very noisy with traffic.
- Russell (8/5): Very comfortable and met all our needs. - Our second stay here for our annual trip to the Wye. Excellent value and great service. Very comfortable and met all our needs.
- johanna (2/5): - The place is in need of repair and maintenance also the pillows were as flat as a pancake
- Paul (10/5): - Good value for the money and the property was good and clean
- chris (10/5): - Great Value for money. Only negativd squashed mosquitos on wall. Other than that room, bathroom and general cleanliness very god. Impressed with the tea and coffee and shower gel etc i the bathroom. Would definitely used it again
- Malik (2/5): - The entrance to the property with filthy stinking carpets set the scene. It could have been due to water damage? We continued towards the room in the hope that it might be different inside, but on reaching the room we could not bear to stand in it. There were bugs covering the ceiling due to the windows having been left open for the smell. We immediately gave the keys back and luckily booked into another hotel. The price was cheap but turned out more expensive as we had to book somewhere else at the last minute and and had already paid for this lodge. This should have a rating of less than 2 out of 10. When I checked the reviews later it was clear that most people had the same experience, but there were some that gave excellent reviews with 10 that was obviously fake and distorted the overall rating for the place. It was a big mistake not to check all the reviews in advance as the general rating for the place was not realistic.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Shame. - Stayed only 2 of the booked 15 nights. This place has little or no maintenance, we had 3 rooms in 2 days, from a blocked sink to a large unlockable window that would not close, water leaking into buckets all through the corridors, mouldy smelly carpets, causing my husband to have an asthma attack. Bathroom floor was filthy.
On a more positive note, great position, has massive potential, needs some love.
We were given a full refund.
- victoria (8/5): - Room was basic but was just a base for 1 night. Cant expect too much for £50. It was perfect for what we needed.
- Laura (2/5): - Loads of insects/ bugs in the room, not cleaned properly at all, stains/dirty carpet, toilet not cleaned, radiator falling off walls in the corridor and roof leaking, not child friendly at all. We left immediately.
- Lauryn (8/5): - Very handy being at the services, our room key also got us 50% off at burger king. The shower set off the fire alarm however as the extraction was rubbish so the hotel had to evacuate and there were weird dried fluid marks all over the walls and blinds.
- Joaquim (8/5): - Very friendly staff and great service 👍
- Eryl (6/5): - The so-called Spar check in desk no longer exists. IT IS AN ALDI EXPRESS. Our booking was nowhere on the system. We had to wait half an hour for Will to clean and prepare our room. NOT IMPRESSED. No working plug or fan in bathroom
- Verified traveler (4/5): Dirty! - Room was very dirty and there was stuff on the toilet that had not been clean. There was no shower door or curtain with a rainfall shower. Bed was comfy and slept reasonably well considering but was glad to leave due to the uncleanliness of the room
- Kate (4/5): - The stay was fine just a few bits that was not 1 no bath plug again happend last time we stayed 2 could do with more pillows in room only had one each
- Simon (2/5): Dirty, room not made up etc - The entrance and halls are dirty and unkept, with buckets catching drips from leaking pipes. Rubbish on the floors at check in was still there 2 days later for check out.
No sheets on the second bed, not enough large towels for everyone.
No chair.
No shower curtain or screen (it’s not a wet room).
No handle on the bath tap, had to wedge something on to turn it on & off.
Toilet had not been cleaned, just some blue stuff squirted in.
Fire doors in corridor missing beading.
- Sarah (2/5): Bug Infestations and no staff attendance!!!! - Wasn't bothered by the total lack of staff attendance, or the messy entry way, or the damp smell down the halls, with buckets collecting water, or the fact you need to check in at the Asda petrol station, what really bothered us was the bugs and flies that were nesting in the room on the roof. The hair on the pillows and loose wiring hanging out the of wall for the TV
It was about £50 for the night so good Value, but we didn't dare use the towels.
We were staying for one night, and even that was a push.
White bedding and room was prepped with tea and coffee, but just had to stand on bed to clear away all these bug nests stuck to ceiling, some had fallen on pillows and beds.
It's cheap and convenient but dam I've slept in beach huts in Fiji without infestations!!!
- David (10/5): - Great place to stay. I was nervous about staying here after reading some bad reviews but clearly people have nothing better to do than moan. Convenient location next to the services with easy access to the main road and a good base to stay at. Couple of areas could have been cleaner but aoart from that it was perfect.
- Anthony (2/5): - It is the worst place I've ever stayed at!
- Stephanie (6/5): - Wasn't as bad as I expected after reading previous reviews. Room basic but clean.
Entrance and passageways really need a lot of attention as some areas are quite dirty and some ceilings leak. Needs a good refurb and it would be good.
- David (6/5): - The assitant that checked me in was very brusque and rude
- Robert (10/5): - All very good. Could have done with a teaspoon though, obviously an oversight.
- Deewakur (2/5): - The room I had was disgusting.
Cob webs all around the ceiling and the corners of the room by the beds.
Opens the sofa bed and found used tissue and full of dirt and dust.
Bugs and insect all around.
Mould in the bathroom.
One pillow was brownish and the duvet had vomit on it. No bed sheet for the sofa bed.No kettle when asked for one got one with a brown tar like at the bottom.Manager apologised and gave refund.
The pictures online is when the lodge was new.
- Leslie (6/5): - No cups, spoons and toilet paper in room
- Ruth (10/5): - Cheap and cheerful. Quiet over night but traffic noise started about 6am.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - There was no reception at the hotel so had to check in at a petrol station across the road. Room was covered in bugs and flies and wasn’t particularly clean. It did a job
- MAGDALENA (4/5): - The only good thing about this property was checking in, everything else was bad .
Sheets dirty , cover with stains and food , mess and tap broken in the toilet !
- Emma (2/5): Don't stay here - The entrance to the accomodation was full of rubbish with water stains everywhere. The corridors smelt musty, there were water stains all over the carpet and mould on the walls (I can only assume there had been a leak of some sort very recently). The fire doors had been propped open. I did shut the one by our room for security reasons but someone opened it again (probably to try and get rid of the musty smell). The room was also smelly and was full of moths as the window had been left open (again, probably to try and get rid of the smell). There were a couple of small blood stains on one of the pillows. The previous occupant had put their rubbish in the bin with no bin bag, and then whoever cleaned the room just put a bin bag on top of it. The bathroom was quite grotty with mouldy grout and cobwebs. I found the previous occupants bracelet behind the bathroom door which makes me wonder how well the bathrooms are cleaned.
- Debra (2/5): - Very disappointed!!! We searched for nearly 2 hours up and down the A40 for a garage that had a Spar only to find it was indeed an Asda. There is nothing on the website to suggest it was a service station either. We actually went into the town of nearby Raglan to look for Raglan Lodge. We eventually found it and told the lady at Asda of our displeasure. We got our key and found a bag containing beer cans and cigarette butts left in our room. We were told by a total stranger that the lady from Asda had forgotten to take our registration number and I had to go back to the store and give it to her. Surely this could be completed on the website?? We have no proof that she has registered our car, only this email. I would value a response from yourselves.

My family booked a nights stay at this lodge on Saturday we chose your lodge as it was convenient to our planned Birthday treat for our son that we where attending on the Saturday upon arrival we noticed the lodge seemed to be in sumwhat disrepair at the entrance and we were greeted with dead flowers in the entrance hall, however we carried on and hoped the room wouldn't be reflected in this.. going along the corridor there were several buckets collecting water leaks and several ceiling tiles missing exposing wires, again we ignored, going into our room (room10) we were absolutely disgusted.. the room was dirty, looked like it hadn't been cleaned for months, bed sheets were stained rubbish on floor bin lid in bathroom was thick with dirt and hadnt been emptied, bathroom floor had dirt gathering in corners, carpet in room was badly stained and not hoovered, worktop was dirty with stains and dust, kettle was dirty, cup stand was dirty with spillage mess , mirror was filthy, bedside tables were thick with dust, sofa bed cushions were covered in dirty hand prints with a piece of skirting propped up against it, there was rubbish on the floor all along the window and on the floor under the bedside tables only decent thing was that there had been clean towels and some toiletries put in place looked like the cleaner had literally walked into the room put towels and toiletries in and walked straight back out.. we had no option but to stay the night after a long drive
- Benjamin (8/5): It’s ok - A comfortable(ish) stay. Not as great as it used to be. Just needs a bit of TLC.
- Simon (6/5): Ok for money, but a bit untidy and tired - Room itself is OK, tired in places, electric towel rail hanging off the wall.
Entrance way is not welcoming, a couple of discarded mop buckets, sheet of plasterboard, entrance matting had huge stain and dirty. Ceiling tiles missing in halls, lots of random waste bins left in the hall.
Room had packets of food in the bin left by previous guests not emptied by cleaners.
- Russell (8/5): Adequate for the price - I didn’t read any reviews before booking or I might have looked somewhere else as the Lodge has a lot of 1 star ratings.
My stay was purely for business and all I needed was a hotel room. The room was clean and adequate for my stay, I didn’t run my finger on the top of the tele or pictures so wasn’t interested in a bit of dust.
The corridors were looking a bit tired and could do with a lick of paint but that is cosmetic. My room had a double bed and a double sofa bed and for £50 a night I think it was good value.

- Ryan (2/5): Minging - Dirty place to stay won’t be staying again. Found hairs in my bed and the corridors are like a war zone.
- Nick (4/5): - The general state of common areas is pretty grim with all areas in need of a clean and evidence of damp/water leaks everywhere. My room was generally very nice but a horrible large stain on the carpet was really off putting. It seems that the room should have its carpet changed before being used for paying customers. Check in was difficult as you had to make a trip over to a nearby garage to do this. Made asking for a different room not worth the return trip. Overall a very unloved place. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone in current state.
- Jacqui (8/5): Great stay - Bed was very comfy, room very clean and had everything you needed.
However there has been a major water leak or flood and all the communal spaces smell of damp with damage flooring and ceilings.
Hotel was perfect for us though as just used it for a stop over
- Rawdon (4/5): - Mould on walls and ceiling, not vacuumed, multiple buckets in the hallways to collect leaks from ceiling, bad smell upon entry. Some linen in room was missing and some not cleaned after previous occupant.
