- Shaw (9/5): - Isolated Island resort. However the staff were so attentive and helpful. They would do over and above to make us happy and comfortable.
You must expect that not everything can be perfect due to location. Isolated Island away from Mainland.
Food was lovley and authentic Malay. More maintenance around the resort. In saying that they had just reopened after a heavy wet season.
- Thomas (9/5): - Paradies!!!
- Sabri (10/5): A lovely beach getaway. - We loved the personal touches of the staff. The food was amazing and the location was perfect. We loved that we can swim out the front of our room. If we asked for something Emma did the best to make it happen. Nothing to mention.

- Yinghao (10/5): -
- Rainer (10/5): Welcome to Paradise!

Rien
- claudio (7/5): -

- Sha (4/5): Nice location and staff but stay at your own risk - The two redeeming factors were the service of the staff (especially f&b) which was always friendly and kind and the food which was very good. One of our family group is a vegetarian and the chef prepared dishes not in the menu (tofu curry, fried tempeh) to accommodate his needs, this was much appreciated. The location is secluded and quiet, with lots of trees for privacy. Unfortunately, the chalet floor was dirty at check-in, the bathroom not nice and the bunk bed for our children had joints that were not properly attached so bed was very shaky. We were worried the entire stay (4 nights) that the top bed would fall onto the lower bed and hence, child. We informed the manager abt the bunk bed safety and cleanliness issue on the second day, and were told it would be resolved however the issue persisted during our stay. We also realized that chalets even in same/lower price categories had very different standards - our bathroom was horrible but the unit right next to ours had a newly done bathroom. Our bunkbed was wobbly, but other units had stable beds. Our AC didnt work well, but units occupied by other members of our group were fine. There was hardly any surface space to put things in our room for 4 pax, but not the case in other units (we saw 4 other units in the complex due to the group we were travelling with). 2 pax in our group were looking forward to the spa options, but were told on arrival that there is actually no spa but it is at another resort 30 min walk away, something not mentioned on the website at time of booking. Sadly, the house reef is also in poor condition.
At CHF 200 per night, one does have some expectations and our chalet certainly did not fit this - the chalet standards and safety concerns failed to justify the price. When we asked to move to another chalet in same category, we were told to pay an additional amount. There were so many issues that we finally requested a cancellation of the remainder of our booking (originally planned for 9 nights) from booking.com and thankfully moved to another accommodation which saved our holiday.
- BRAHIM (10/5): - Personnel très accueillant chalet non isolé. Proximité avec d'autres clients

- Pappan (8/5): Secluded home away from home - definitely a unique place with an amazing staff - This resort is secluded and has its own charm. It becomes a cozy comfortable home away from everything else. It is mainly connected from the sea - guests check in and out from the sea! The common area is wonderful and gives a community feeling all through the day where you get to see all other guests in close proximity. Most common facilities are there - restaurant, bar, free coffee and tea facilities (24 hrs.), toilets, deck, access to the beach, sea sports desk and the reception. Everything's there. Besides the common area are only rooms not more than 50 meters away. So, overall the close world charm of this resort cut off from the rest of the world gave us a unique experience.
Then the Tioman sea water - turquoise green and clear, beach calm and the water inviting. Sun beds and a swing on the beach which is covered by this huge tree which gives it ample shade. A volley ball court.
The staff are very friendly and courteous. They add to the charm of the resort. They are always around, always smiling and always ready to serve. When you arrive at the hotel in the resort's boat (they pick you up from the nearest jetty which is Genting), the staff is there to welcome you at the beach. When you check out, they are waving you goodbye till you can no longer see them! This enables you to have a special bonding with the staff there even if you stay for just 2 nights.
They offer sea sports activities like kayaking, island hopping, snorkeling, etc. which we did not avail.
We drove down from KL. Takes 5 hours to reach Tanjung Gemok jetty. Then we wait for 1 hour at the jetty to take the ferry takes 2 hours to reach Tioman. At Tioman there are various stops and you have to get down at Genting jetty, where you board yet another boat provided by the resort to finally reach the resort. Total time - approximately 8.5 hours! Same thing while going back. But, Tioman Island is worth it because of the quality of the beaches and the lovely sea water. It is quite heavenly. We were in room named Macaque. It had a queen bed and 2 bunk beds, good enough for our family of 4. But this room doesn't face the sea! We noticed there are other rooms which face the sea and can have a lovely view. So, please ensure that you check with the hotel if you want a sea facing room. The bathroom heater was not very efficient, so hot water wasn't adequate. No handwash provided at the basin. There were no chairs provided on the balcony.
The housekeeping was very basic. They just clean the bathroom and mop the room. We saw soiled glasses were not cleared. Towels were left as it is. Beds were not cleaned - we were hoping that the little bit of sand which comes along on the bed would be brushed off by them.
Food available at the restaurant is very average. Right from the breakfast, the choice is so limited. Breakfast looks the same everyday. Looking at the menu you just wonder what to have for the next meal. Since the price of food is costly and limited choice, one would have hoped that it would be tasty. So, the weak point of this resort = food.
WiFi only available at common area. In the room, cellular signal and the WiFi signal is weak. So, very scratchy internet available in the room.
For one of the lunches, we walked through the back lane (through the hills and forests) to Genting village and had a meal at a place called Mamma's Food House - a must try. Very nice food. It is a 25 minutes walk from the resort to this lovely small restaurant.
- Yves Marie (8/5): -
- Hans (9/5): Comfortable lovely and quiet resort, hidden in nature. - Very nice, quiet, peaceful resort, with a lovely helpful staff. Nice private beach with some big trees given a lot of shadow.
During our 6 nights we went to Genting for dinner once. The menu in the resort is divers enough and the resort offers good quality of food, so there was no real desire to go somewhere else.
They also arranged a private boot trip for us (8 persons), which was a combination of the trip around the island and a snorkel tour. It was a great experience!
Compared to accommodations in the cities it is rather expensive, but keep in mind it is on a remote location on an island. Based on what we have seen in Genting and Paya, this was absolutely the best spot and worth the money.
Do note this is not a 5-star resort, so not everything will be like you have it at home. There is only filter coffee, don’t expect fancy cappuccinos or espresso’s. The showers function fine, but will not give the amount of water you might get at home.
Overall it is not a luxury resort, but absolutely a comfortable resort with a staff which does everything to make you feel at home.
Communication with the resort was excellent, they gave clear instructions about which jetty to get off, and when we arrived in Genting their boat was already waiting for us. At the resort the rooms were not ready yet (we arrived at 10am, so that was already expected based on earlier communication), but within an hour our rooms were ready. They do everything possible to make it comfortable for the guests.
Also the atmosphere in the team working there is great, having a laugh with the guests but also having fun together. The beds were pretty hard, especially the bunk beds were not comfortable.
Also some of these spoiled European guests can bring a negative atmosphere when they start complaining… like Hendrick who gave a 1,0 because he couldn’t get a cappuccino…
It also looks like some people come to the resort straight after a long journey coming directly from Europe and being exhausted and grumpy by the time they arrive at the resort. Just one recommendation: don’t do that. Although it was very entertaining for us to watch and observe, nobody really enjoys it, you don’t, other guests don’t and the staff doesn’t… so travel in a relaxed way, with more stops in between and everybody will enjoy it much more.
- Chris (9/5): - The location of Melina Beach is wonderful. The resort staff is very friendly and the organize various daily snorkeling trips.
The breakfast buffet is decent with varying fresh fruit.
The apartments and cottages differ in in size and location. The internet connection is unreliable. They should install Starlink.
- Yi Ci (7/5): - The staff were all really friendly and attentive! I missed out the message on having a ferry service for Genting to the resort but they called and checked in with me. Location is secluded and good for anyone wanting to disconnect. The food was overpriced, and you are getting store bought quality pizza. You could get better pizza for lesser price in paya. Air con was working sporadically until we were able to figure out how to get it to work, and I was woken up by another group when they were stomping on the wooden planks. Wifi was spotty at best and wasn't working half the time.

Uitgebreide menukaart. Met ook voldoende vegetarische opties. Eten was heerlijk, alles vers en veel groenten!
- Lund (10/5): Beautiful location, peaceful, friendly. -
- Marina (10/5): Magnific Melina - Personal molt amable i atent
Sopar i berenar bons
Bany millorable
Hi havia obres durant l'estada
- RONZANO (7/5): Overall, good stay with family and friends, the beach was ideal - Location, common areas, the beaches and the secluded environment but still easily accessible. The staff was very friendly and very helpful, the kids did really enjoy the moments Wifi was very difficult and the Aircon stopping in regular basis made our nights not so comfortable due to the heat
- Didier (10/5): - L'isolement L'isolement
- Kai Yang (9/5): - Staffs are polite, friendly and helpful. It is a secluded resort and it is peaceful and surrounded by nature. The resort has a nice small beach for themselves. You can see squirrels, monkeys, baby sharks if you are lucky. Facilities are basic but they are clean and complete. Because it is a secluded resort, it is quite far (25 mins walk) to the nearest village. Food prices are on the high side but the portions are generous. Although the resort has a nice small beach, I do not feel like there are lots of corals near the beach. Might have to swim quite far to the open ocean to see nice corals.

- Urban (5/5): Location Good, bungalow nice and remote, Food Options lacking. - The beach was nice, easy to snorkel right out the front. The staff was friendly and helpful, but we had to manage our own Scuba booking. This resort had a higher price point and I would have expected an easy way to directly contact and interact with Dive Operators at Genting. We ended up talking to a grocery store owner to find a Scuba operator. The Beach Bungalow was nice, bathroom was good, bed was comfortable and AC worked well. I have no problems with the remote aspect of the location, bungalow and no issues with wildlife and insect life. I grew up spending my summers in a cabin in the woods with lots of ants, bats, wasps and other bugs, but the food options were poor. I understand it was the end of the season but if you aren't going to restock goods for the kitchen then close up shop earlier in the season, lower your pricing or ensure you have enough goods to supply meals that are on the menu. The nearest restaurants are a hike so it makes it difficult to food shop. I would also have liked to know ahead of time that the water taxi landing was a wet one. I could have properly ensured I had water shoes (not leather) sandals on arrival.
- Lara (9/5): Fantastic paradise - Staff was very nice, friendly and helpful
Food was excellent (Beef Rendang was my favourite)
Rooms were clean and beautiful Malaysian Gouvernement is planning to build an airport into the sea and destroy this paradise

- Drew (10/5): - Best location, best staff, best food, complete relaxation and seclusion! Nothing
- Raymond (7/5): Sure a nice spot to laze around and enjoy some quality time with family. Beach was fun place. - Small and cozy place nestled away in nature. Limited food options

- kok kiong (8/5): - Private Beach . Away from the crowds The room which there are a lots of ants 🐜 and no bath tub.
- Giacomo (1/5): - The position Unfortunately, a very unpleasant and unexpected situation occurred at this location. In spite of the fact that we had postponed our booking to the following week via booking.com, within the terms of the policy, the resort on our arrival denied having received any notification from booking.com of the cancellation of the first booking. For this reason, even before evidence provided immediately, the resort refused to cooperate, unjustifiably charging us the cost of both the previous booking and the new booking. What was most surprising was the absence of any cooperation on the part of the resort towards its customers. In addition, the accommodation appeared unclean. While we were having dinner, a cat came out of the kitchen with a mouse in its mouth. The room had many insects and spiders in it. The property is poorly connected and in the evenings it is virtually impossible to move around, so guests are obliged to stay for dinner at the hotel, where prices are completely unreasonable compared to the rest of Malaysia. About 30 metres from the hotel, on the beach and among the trees on the beach there is basically an open-air dump, where the resort throws away its waste. I have seldom left negative reviews about a resort, but in this case I hope it will help prevent other customers from paying certain prices for a service that is not up to standard.
