Guest Reviews
- Jonas (10/5): - Super clean, spacious and well organized apartment. It's situated in a very quiet area near a beautiful shrine. Would recommend Villa Relax to anyone visiting Kawaguchiko.
- Jenny (8/5): -
- Winnie (10/5): The stay was very enjoyable and we’re able to relax fully after a long walk to see Fuji. - The property is spacious and clean with distinct living area. The host is very friendly and helpful. The area is close with a few convenience store and located right beside a shrine.
- Jean (9/5): -
- Ebony (10/5): - This accommodation was large and a great place to relax at our halfway point of our Japan trip. There is a beautiful shrine next to the accommodation which was actually relatively quiet.
We hired a car to explore Fuji Five Lakes, having parking at the house made it very easy to explore the whole area.
The living, dining and kitchen were a great size and had everything we needed.
The host was also very lovely and showed us everything at check-in and had a booklet with translated instructions for all appliances (no other place we stayed out had that and it took the guess work out of the stay).
- Helena (10/5): Enjoyed the place very much! - The owner waited for us for a late hour to check in. Very much appreciated 🙏🏻
The house is very big and spacious, all necessary facilities, clean and pleasant. Very beautiful garden, balcony with a great view.
Amazing shrine near by. Nothing.
- Aidan (10/5): great stay, great views, even greater host - mr katsura-san was exceptionally hospitable and a great host. we arrived late due to traffic jams but he was still super accommodating. throughout our stay, he would be readily available to help out with any questions or whatever things we needed. mr katsura-san changed the stay from decent to a "would definitely book again".
the views from the balcony was awesome, weather dependent of course (fuji-san was fully visible 2/3 days of our stay). however, it should be noted that the view might be a little blocked by some trees, but there is a viewing platform nearby to use where views are fully unblocked. the roads around the place were naturally a bit tight so getting in and parking was a bit difficult (do take note if you are driving a larger vehicle especially). you may see some reviews that mention mr katsura-san has a cafe, however he does close during the winter.
- Carina (10/5): Homely, comfortable, clean and quiet location. - Lovely accommodation with everything you need and more. There are heaters all throughout the home. Very cutely decorated and located near the shrine. Owners gave us a nice, quick tour of the home, with payment on arrival via card possible.
Location is relatively good, quiet. Around 10-15minutes walk to the nearest convenience store and main area with a sightseeing bus stop just down the road. We arrived a bit earlier than the check-in time, as such as dined at the cafe around the corner of the accommodation, which happens to be run by the same owners. We didn't get any check-in instructions or messages on booking.com; however, we were able to ask the owners who ran the cafe as we dined and were able to check in with ease.
Pillows for futons and beds are very flat. Consider bringing your own pillow if you like something more supportive.
- Kai Ting (10/5): Great stay! - Great place to stay to explore fujikawaguchiko. The property is spacious and well furnished
- Lee-ann (9/5): -
- Ng (10/5): - I had a wonderful stay here. The host is very friendly, helpful, and explains everything clearly. They really take care of the guests. The breakfast is delicious and freshly cooked by themselves. The whole place is clean and comfortable. I will definitely come back and stay here again!
And the view is awesome !!!

- Verified traveler (10/5): It is a really relax hotel. - The hotel was very comfortable and clean, and the hosts were very friendly and polite. They accommodated our every need. There was a wonderful balcony and small garden, where we could enjoy Mount Fuji and relax while enjoying a cup of coffee. The room also had a separate washing machine with dryer, which saved us the trouble of having to go elsewhere for laundry. We stayed for three days, and my family, especially the children, thoroughly enjoyed our time at the hotel. While the hotel is a bit far from the city center, we had a car, so it didn't bother us. Overall, we loved it and would definitely return if we had the chance!
- Tristan (9/5): A nice peaceful stay! - A nice quiet stay, it'll make you feel like you live there and not just a tourist staying in the hotel. Hosts are very friendly and the location is pretty good considering you're in a house. The rooms are very spacious and the balcony is great! We also got to rent bikes from the host which was very fun and honestly almost necessary considering the buses stop running from Kawaguchiko around 7pm. Overall a great experience! I don't really have anything negative to say, but just a couple things to keep in mind:
Although the villa is very close to the bus stop, the buses stop running around 7pm (at least in June). so you'll have to walk, bike or Uber (around 2500 yen from the station)
The view of Mt Fuji is great! But it's only visible from the shared terrace, not from any of the private balconies.
Laundry detergent isn't included and there's no convenience store nearby so make sure to buy before you arrive.
Again, these aren't bad things, just things to keep in mind. We were very satisfied with our stay!
- Geneva (10/5): Exceptional - The host was super friendly and explained everything and we got an amazing breakfast that was so cute and brought right to our door. The location was amazing, right at the foot of a hill with a beautiful temple at the bottom.
- Robert (10/5): Amazing place to stay! - Very great view from the balcony and especially the cafe less than a minute away I believe the owners also own. You can see Mt Fuji behind the shrine next to the house.
Food can be reserved for breakfast and dinner which is really nice as konbinis are about a 4-7 min drive away.
It was overall a very great experience all around. Some other pluses being; great ventilation, air conditioning, heated mat upstairs. They do not have a smart TV but do have Wii games and a DVD player with some movies to watch (the ones I remember we watched were Ice Age and Harry Potter) but I doubt you would be on the TV being around the Mt Fuji area.
- Brock (9/5): Superb - Very nice host, lovely place right next to the Kawaguchi Shrine. You’ll love it here! Have to climb up to the bed on second level loft but was also fun!
- Hui (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tok (8/5): Very good -
- Yee (10/5): Exceptional - The whole experience was out of my expectation in a positive way. The place is immaculate, exactly the same as described. I can see that the host put a lot of effort in making the place a comfortable one for the guests. It has everything you need for a good rest. The host is responsive and flexible. I was late for my estimated check-in time and the host was completely cool about that. Communication was smooth, communicating in English was not a problem. I would recommend everyone who drives around the area choose the Villa Relax. nothing
- Tzer (9/5): Nice host. Great place to relax with family. Wii and bathtub were a hit for the kids -
- Hmicelli (10/5): Lovely home with wonderful hosts in a beautiful, quiet neighborhood. - The host picked us up at the train station and took us to this lovely home, showed us around, and gave us the keys. We were so happy to have some space and western furniture! We enjoyed having a kitchen and making our own food for a couple of days. The location is amazing with views of Mt. Fuji from the nice outdoor common area. It's a beautiful area, nice and quiet, and walkable to shrines, the maple corridor, nature walks, etc.
- Rungsilp (10/5): I love this place very much and also I will recommend my friends. - Good atmosphere
Good service
Lovely owner
Good Cost effectiveness
- Dwiyana (9/5): Superb -
- Nisa (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (8/5): Really enjoyable - Great villa, great location.
- Monnik (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mariah (10/5): Exceptional - The cottage was so cute, the views were incredible and the owners were so lovely.
- Sue (10/5): Definitely a value of money stay. You get ample of space, amenities, charm and zen! 😃 - It’s really spacious! We had the entire villa to ourselves and it was the biggest space we had over our course of our Japan trip :) there was also an outdoor deck where you get to chill and admire the city. The couple also owns a small cafe beside where you get to enjoy meals! It was really calming for us. And their place is close to Asama Shrine and you can hike about 30mins to the famous photo spot Tenku No Torii gate! The owner also offered to pick us up to and from the main train station:) Nothing!
- Jian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anggita (9/5): Superb - Had an amazing stay in the villa. The view was really nice, and the room and space were very comfortable. It is located in a nice area of Kawaguchi, where there aren't any crowded tourists, so we had a peaceful time. We also had a chance to view Mt. Fuji from the balcony. The owner is very kind, offering us pick up and send us back to the station too. He’s very fast to respond to any queries that we had.
- Zachary (9/5): Comforting villa with friendly hosts nearby Mt. Fuji - high value for the price! - Host offers breakfast delivered to villa, and owns a small cafe nextdoor where he and his wife make nice comfort japanese food and coffee! The AC on the top floor was broken, but the host was prompt to try to fix it. Hopefully this will be fixed for future stays.
- Yoav (8/5): Very good - A spacious villa right next to a shrine The bed upstairs was really not usable as it was super uncomfortable
- Jenna (10/5): Wonderful stay - Beautiful villa / private apartment and terrace (though it was raining and unfortunately we didn’t get to enjoy it!) nice location, a bit tucked away and beside the large shrine. We only stayed one night but I wish it was longer!
- Emarie (10/5): Great hosts and location. -
- Egbert (10/5): Great place to stay - Beautiful villa, spacious. Near quite an impressive shrine accompanied by huge trees. Staff was very helpful and friendly Among all devices there was no coffee machine, but that seems pretty standard in Japan.
- King Sum (10/5): -
- Jayce (10/5): Above and beyond customer service. - Mr. Katsura Hiroyasu Was the nicest, the most polite and kind person I’ve ever met throughout our journey in Japan.
He exceeded our expectations and went beyond and above. He picked us up from the nearest station with his Van and dropped us off onto another location, which he did not charge us for it and did it with his own good will. On top of that I forgot an SSD card in the room and he was kind to deliver it to where we were at the time, THIS WOULD HAVE NEVER happened with someone else. His politeness and kindness are immeasurable.
The Villa was really nice and big, clean in every corner.
The check in went very smoothly, he showed us every room, told us how things worked and gave us maps to where the see the cherry blossoms on the lake for this year.
The villa was really close to the Tori gate over looking the mt. Fuji and the Lake Kawaguchiko which was stunning during the sunset.
The cherry blossoms were an extra, for the price he charges and the service he offers this is a MUST and it should never be empty. NOTHING
- Supanna (10/5): Exceptional - I love everything at here, owner are nice and help everthing. Nice scnery with fuji san. I will be back next time. Eveything are perfect but If it possible. Please chang the Pan and Pot in the kitchen because teflon is peeling off the pan. Thank you.
- Yy (9/5): Lovely stay with a friendly and warm host! Great experience. - The owner picked us up at the station. He gave us the instructions and handed us the key after. I believe he stayed in the house next door so even if you didn't get picked up by him, it should be easy. Overall, not bad.
- Clare (10/5): Fantastic little holiday home - The location was fantastic.
The owner very polite and helpful.
The home was well equipped.
Collection from the Station is very useful
- Chang (9/5): Easily the best accommodation we had for our whole trip after the tiny hotels in the big cities. - Excellent value with a lot of space for the kids to play. It has everything you need for a great time at Fujikawaguchiko. The host was very accommodating and friendly, and offered to drive us from the train station if we did not have a car. Not a criticism per se, but it’s very conveniently located if you have a car, not so much if you take the bus.
- Hoang (10/5): Exceptional - Host responsiveness and willingness to take us to the fujikawaguchiko station on both to the place and on our departure.
- Sara (10/5): Lovely place to get some rest on your trip. - It felt like home. Our favourite out of the 7 we stayed in on our trip. Very comfortable and clean and lovely hosts. Great cafe next door! Nothing
