Guest Reviews
- salvador (10/5): - Miy Agradable Experiencia
- Verified traveler (10/5): Bonito hotel!
- Irene (10/5): Recomendable - Excelente lugar
- pwiser (10/5): Convenient location, clean, great value - We weren’t necessarily looking for a budget hotel, but rather one close to the center. We settled on Posada Antiqua, a few blocks walk to the Zocolo and Brady Museum, and were very pleased with the location, friendly owners and general cleanliness of the place. Rooms are simple but clean and adequate with good Wi fi and plentiful hot water. The reasonable rates don;t include breakfast, but we ate at the excellent Cafe Taxco down the street. Highly recommended. Very nice and convenient stay.
NO REGRESARIA AUNQUE FUERA GRATUITO.
- Robert (8/5): - We found the staff to be more than available to our needs.
My wife asked for a hair dryer, iron and hangers for the closet and she was quickly answered with a smile and all were delivered in short order.
The lady at the reception desk answered all of our inquiries with needed directness and honesty.
- Patty (2/5): - The parking lot is not at the hotel, you have to walk a block and the street is not safe. The bathroom door in was broken. The bed was too old. Very disappointed.
The staff very nice
Excelente servicio 😸
- Monica (10/5): - Todo muy bien
- Verified traveler (10/5): Colonial y acogedor.
- Rebecca (10/5): - NA
- Adriana Elena (10/5): - Agradable, limpio y buen servicio.
- iván (8/5): - I liked the place, the room was cleaned and comfortable, the pool wasn't so good though, it was in front of my room but it is small and the water was really cold, I think its location is the problem since it gets no much sunlight, as for the hotel location this is perfect, it's a few blocks away from Downtown, plenty of activities to do nearby. Nice place to stay at😄
- georgiam14 (10/5): Just fabulous - This is a lovely simple hotel, just a few minutes walk from the centre of town. Best of all, the staff are FANTASTIC. We left a phone in an Uber at 10pm and they could not have been more helpful as we tracked down the driver, and they waited up for hours until he returned it. It was extremely stressful but they were calm and confident that it would be returned, and it was!
A tiny issue, not their fault, is when he typed the name of their car park into google maps it sent us 500m away, but it is actually only 50m.
- carlos chavez (10/5): - Me encantó
The personal there are really kind and helpful. The place is really nice and quiet everything nearby is walkable.
- Claire (8/5): - Nice, relaxing place to stay in a good location close to the center.
- Jose (10/5): - I like this place It’s very clean very kind people .👍👍👍
- Ilse’s (10/5): - Armando and Sandra took good care of us during our stay. Great service, friendly, very clean, and good area.
- Mary (10/5): - I loved the location of this charming little hotel! I could walk right outside and enjoy a pleasant, non-touristy neighborhood. This was my first trip back to Mexico in many years, and I feared the traditional "feel" of Mexican culture might be gone, but that was not the case here. Despite the pandemic, the area was full of small businesses, shops, and restaurants, all happy to serve visitors. The area was quiet at night, and the bed and pillows were comfy. The hot water in the shower took awhile but was adequate.
The best part about the hotel were the staff members, who were friendly and helpful. On my first evening, I had visitors (friends from Cuernavaca), and the night clerk set up the room next to the reception area so we could sit together and share a carry-out meal. A staff member bought coffee each morning, so I could sit outside my room and enjoy the mild weather. On the morning of my departure, the desk clerk arranged a taxi to the Mexico City airport, which was something I wouldn't have wanted to do myself.
I would definitely stay here again and would urge other folks to do the same.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Buen hotel y servicio, sólo no tenían agua caliente.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Antigua Posada was friendly and the room was charming, and felt very safe. The street it is on was rather dismal in the dark, but no harm was done. There was a mistake with my bill which was solved quickly. The continental breakfast was disappointing, with no milk other than powdered for the coffee. Otherwise, no complaints.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - All the stuff so friendly,, nice place to stay todo los trabajadores del hotel fueron o son muy amables, la limpieza excelente, recepción excelente, todo en general muy bueno!! Además en el centro de Cuernavaca!!
- Steven (8/5): Would stay there again - Just a 5 min walk to historical center of town.
Appreciated having Netflix in room.
No coffee or breakfast (Mexican bread) available until 8:30 am.
- Steven (8/5): We added another night! - Not much to look at from the street, but once inside you’ll see how inviting it truly is.
A 5 minute walk To the Zocalo, even less to the bus station (if you are arriving by public transportation).
Staff was friendly and property is well maintained. A personal note, our bed was very uncomfortable — felt like I was laying directly on hard springs (my husband didn’t mind, though). We requested Housekeeping to place a comforter under the bottom sheet and all was fine — we even booked an additional night!
One of the reasons we booked this hotel was because it listed “laundry facilities” at the property. There were none — perhaps they were referring to the now closed laundry directly across the street? Nonetheless, we located a service very close to the zócalo that did a great, speedy job for very little cost.
Our only criticism is that there is no coffee available before 8:30 AM. There is a cafe that opens at 7:00 a block down the street.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Close to old center of tje city. Easy walk. Hotel in older area but close to many sights. Took very few taxis.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great hotel, location is far from the center or Cuernavaca, close to shopping malls, which we were not caring for but most visitors do. We could net get the staff to recycle our towels or give us the correct amount...besides that all PERFECT
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The Hotel Antigua Posada is by far better looking inside than it is on the outside. The staff are welcoming and very accommodating, the rooms are cozy and clean and comes with a tour book of places to see in Cuernavaca including downtown's Palacio Cortes and Robert Brady's museum at only a few blocks away. The room we stayed has a lovely ground front terrace to sit at with a view of the open patio with trees, potted colorful plants and a few more tables with chairs leading to other guests rooms and the cornered pool, didn't find the small pool very inviting but other guests did. Free coffee and sweet breads for breakfast are brought to your terrace table upon request. Room has plenty of space to move around except in the restroom where it's a little tight with the toilet's being so close to the door. The queen size bed was comfy enough to immediately fall asleep but not for my mate. Unfortunately she found it to be uncomfortable all night.
- Stella (10/5): - Close to square and very nice staff.
- Mark (10/5): Family and tourist visit downtown - It was a perfect for a combined tourist/family trip. There were convenient sitting areas to visit with family and enjoy the tranquil hillside view while being two blocks from the busy Centro. Convenient walk to museums and Jardín Borda. Very friendly and accommodating staff at the front entrance at all hours made me feel secure.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We enjoyed sitting outside in the porch.
I didn’t like the step from the vanity place to a bedroom cuz I got hurt when my foot got cut by slipping off the step.
The free continental breakfast wasn’t satisfied because the only pastries were served and I couldn’t eat them cuz I’m gluten free.
- Veronica (10/5): Excellent! - Hotel is very clean. It is like a big house. Very pretty inside very quiet. Walking distance to Cathedral, Borda Gardens, Restaurants and shopping. People working at hotel are very friendly, kind and helpful. It is a segue place. Entrance does not look like a hotel, you will be nicely surprised😊
- timothysloan (10/5): Simple and comfortable - We just stayed just one night in this 2 star hotel that has 5 star service. This hotel is not fancy by any means but it is clean and comfortable and has a great staff. Ivan treated us well and made us feel right at home. We liked our room as it even had a nice patio and was steps from the pool. For foreigners coming here you should know this hotel does not have air conditioning though they are going to install it soon. 10 months of the year having no AC is not a problem because the nights are cool and the fan is perfect, but from mid April to mid June is the “summer” in this area and days are hot. The night staff brought us extra fans and we ultimately slept great. We are two adults with two bigger kids so this is not a problem at all but if we have babies, it might have been too hot for us.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful property. Very kind and attentive staff.
- beebleberry (10/5): What a comfortable oasis! - We planned to spend two days at this hotel, but we ended up staying four because we were sick. It was a perfect place to relax and recover. Ivan, the host, was so gracious and kind. It also helped us that he speaks English. Our room was lovely and clean, Our bed was huge and comfortable. The staff was friendly and unobtrusive. Others have mentioned that the hotel doesn't look like much from the loud and busy street, but once you get inside the doors, it's beautiful and surprisingly quiet. The plants and grounds are well cared for. The breakfast is delicious orange juice, sweet rolls, and coffee -- not a full meal -- but served on the patio under an umbrella. We are grateful we were there when we didn't feel so great. A couple of extra days of R&R and we were ready to travel again. Much appreciation to Ivan and his staff.
- stevehJ2527FW (10/5): A lovely place to stay! - Our original plans had been to spend 2 days in Cuernavaca, but due to a minor health issue, we wound up staying for 4 days, and the hotel was a perfect place to rest and recuperate. Although the street out front is busy, once you enter the hotel grounds, you find yourself in a wonderfully peaceful sanctuary of terraced patios and immaculate grounds. Our room was very clean and comfortable, with updated plumbing (great shower!), and a covered sitting area out front that looked out on the gardens.
All the staff were very friendly and professional, and our host, Ivan, was very gracious and accommodating, giving us a discount on our second two nights, and offering to connect us with a doctor if we felt the need. He is justifiably proud of his establishment, and does all he can to make his guests enjoy their stay with him. A lovely man.
- lisarose (8/5): Very Good Value - This hotel is a short walk from the center of town, with very obliging staff. We had to change our reservation at the last minute and Ivan was extremely accommodating. My favorite thing about the hotel was being served bread and coffee at our very own patio every morning. The hotel was also very quiet even though it is on a somewhat busy street. Wifi worked perfectly. My only complaint is that the beds were very hard and I could feel the springs a bit, but overall this hotel is great for the price.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice, quiet atmosphere in a busy town. Comfortable, clean room. Pool was good for a quick dip (chilly! in February). Breakfast could have been better - good coffee and juice, but just a plain roll.
- sheep64 (10/5): Charming, quiet and friendly - Behind the modest facade is a tranquil, flower-filled refuge with attractive rooms, each with a small patio, and modern facilities including excellent showers. There is a small clean swimming pool and beach towels miraculously arrive when you use it. Ivan, the owner speaks good English but is happy to encourage attempts at Spanish. He is knowledgeable, thoughtful and helpful.
This is an amazing find.
- Michael (10/5): Great oasis in Cuarnevaca - Very quiet, nicely set up oasis in busy, hectic Cuarnevaca. It's about a 10 minute walk from the Zocalo and there are some convenient shops nearby. Rooms have little outdoor terraces and there is a pool. Ivan the owner-manager is very friendly and helpful with good English. This is an excellent place to shipwreck for a few days and get a break from the city pace while enjoying Cuarnevaca's attractions.
- 98225 (10/5): Very kind hosts - We had made advance reservations but then had car trouble and the owner kindly accommodated our request to change our reservation without charging a cancellation fee. Don’t let the exterior fool you. The courtyard is lovely and the rooms are clean and comfy with a terrace where you can enjoy your continental breakfast.
- Bryan (10/5): What a surprise! - Good locación! The hotel was so beautiful when you stand outside.... you have no idea what is on the inside and it's so amazing when you step in.beautiful colors beautiful architecture
- Anna (6/5): - Good location, parking in different area not to close to hotel
- Keith (10/5): - Hotel owners very nice. Husband speaks English well. Friendly and helpful on suggestions to eat and sightsee. Easy walk to downtown
- jpcollierville (10/5): Beautiful hotel, friendly staff with true Mexican feel - This is a beautiful hotel located in quaint Cuernavaca, Mexico, just south of Mexico City. (I Ubered from the Mexico City airport, and it was very easy.) The hotel was recently renovated. It has a nice homey feel, accentuated by the owner's personal care in the stay of his guests. There's a beautiful view from the back of the property, just beyond the fountain shown in the photo. This is a great location for a relaxing getaway. There are plenty of great restaurants in the area, too. :-)
- Verified traveler (2/5): BAD EXPERIENCE - THIS HOTEL HAS A POTENTIAL BUT THE MAINTENANCE IS SO BAD THAT MEANWHILE IT IS BETTER TO AVOID.
THE ROOMS SMELL BAD.THE WALLS ARE PEALING BECAUSE OF WET .THERE WAS A HOLE IN THE WALL BY THE ELECTRICITY .THERE WERE ANTS IN THE SHOWER AND ONE OF THE WATER TAB WAS BROKEN. THE WATER OF THE SWIMMING POOL WAS GREEN AND VERY DIRTY.
THE WOMAN AT THE RECEPTION WAS VERY NICE AND HELPFUL AND AGREED WITH ALL THE DEFECTS OF THE HOTEL.
- Robert (8/5): Taxco - Taxco is beautiful.
- Santiago (6/5): Noisy location on a busy street - Located three blocks south of the central plaza, on a busy street, the hotel was a bit dilapidated. The windows rattled and the plumbing dripped. There is a decent economical restaurant at the corner.
- david (6/5): disappointing - Pretty small “suites”. Deceptive pic. Dangerous neighborhood. Tiny pool that is freezing. Nice staff. Lots of ants crawling on wall near door. Not sraying there again.
- 849freds (6/5): Great location - A nice enough accommodation three blocks from the cathedral and Zocalo. The unassuming façade opens into an enclosed stepped patio with a lot of tropical plants and flowers. The rooms by the tiny pool at the bottom have glass doors- not great for privacy. The rooms are clean and comfortable enough. The complementary breakfast is very basic just juice coffee and a sweet roll of some sort.
- saramQ5474ZP (8/5): Friendly, cozy and accessible - This hotel is just right - the right place, the right size, the right price! The staff is friendly and responsive. The rooms are comfortable if somewhat bare bones. I stayed in one of the smaller rooms with its own little patio. I like being able to walk to historic downtown and close to a good, economical restaurant. I also had a massage there which was terrific. all in all - ¡Excelente!
- kellykelly_231 (6/5): Adorable - The place is simple but pretty, security is probably not the best but it does give you an old school feeling. The pool is small but fun the glass doors with curtains are cute. Has no AC, they give you a fan. Very close to fun attractions and places to eat.
- tiadora (8/5): A nice surprise - This hotel doesn’t look like much from the outside, and is on a very busy street, but once inside you’re in beautiful stepped courtyards descending from the street. We were all the way in the back (room #6) and never heard the street noise. Each room has a private patio, with the option of having breakfast delivered there in the morning (rolls and coffee or tea). Our room was very pretty and well-decorated. Nancy, who was at the front desk and might be the manager, was wonderful and incredibly helpful.
- 244allenw (8/5): great location - Hotel is small and simple, but beautiful, clean, and located perfectly. It is a 5-8 minute, two long blocks walk from the cathedral or zocalo. Doesn't look like much from outside, but inside it is very pretty.
- VallartaFan649 (10/5): Excellent Oasis! - Don't let the street entrance dissuade you: once inside this hotel is tranquil and very well put together. Each room has it's own terrace with table and chairs; there is a pool and gardens and the hotel is within easy walking distance of the Cortes Museum, Zocalo and Catedral.
- DorothyL92 (8/5): Beautiful, clean and comfortable - After finding our original accommodations unacceptable, we found our way to the door of Hotel Posada Antigua, just a few blocks from the zocalo. (If you approach by foot from the South, you won’t see the sign.) Hidden inside is a lovely quiet space. The staff was great. The continental breakfast included freshly squeezed orange juice and coffee that was better than most restaurants. They let us keep a couple of things in the fridge. The only problem was that the wifi is only really good near the office. While we were there the weather was great, and we were happy to sit outside in the lovely gardens while using the internet.
- EllieB686 (10/5): What a special place in Cuernavaca! - We stayed a week here and it was delightful. The location is great - easy walk to all the sites. Wear comfortable shoes though - the sidewalks are in bad shape and narrow - but walking is the best way to see things.
By all means, if you can get the Suite, do it! It was about $90 a night and well worth it. It's twice as big as the other rooms and has a lovely terrace of its own although all rooms have outside seating in front of their rooms. Ours was just the best. We spent lots of time relaxing on the terrace with lovely views. The hotel provides a nice continental breakfast served on your patio. The staff does not speak a lot of English but they try hard. Our only complaint (and it's not really a complaint - just an observation) - is that it is a little noisy at night - dogs barking a lot, lots of Siamese cat howling, sirens, etc. but that is Cuernavaca at night and not the fault of the hotel. Perhaps the price you pay for a hotel close to everything. Booked it on Booking.com and it worked out great. Can't recommend this place enough!
- blueflame7 (10/5): Friendly and Helpful - As has already been said, despite being located on a relatively nondescript street, once you enter inside you are now in a lovely florific oasis of tranquility. I arrived in Cuernavaca by a bus which arrived before 7 AM, on other words way before check-in time, but nonetheless someone was there to greet me and show me to my room, a very clean and comfortable space. Later on, when I wanted to do some traveling to the various local sites such as Taxco, Tepoztlan and Xochicalco, the young woman at the front desk spent at least twenty minutes helping my friend and I find the right buses and their time schedules. I found that everyone who worked there went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. So, all in all, my experience there was excellent and I would certainly recommend this hotel highly.
- DiniG (6/5): Beautiful hotel with nice staff ... but some deceptions - We stayed two night at this hotel. The greeting was warmful, the staff was really friendly. The front wall of the hotel hide a beautiful courtyard. This hotel is near of some bus station. We went at Puebla after Cuernavaca and we could reach the bus station by walk event with our lugages. This is the same bus station if you want to go to Tepoztlan(5 min walk). The Zocalo is at a 15 minutes walk. The sector seem secure, but when the night fall, the sector miss some light. It have many services near around, stores and bakerys.
The room had a large bed. But the washroom was really small. The shower look really old but work well. The principal problem was the temperature. It was really warm at Cuernavaca last April. It doesn't had climatisation in the room but a noisy ceiling fan. We needed to sleep with it all the night.
The breackfast was a reel "desayuno mexicano", only toast and coffee. I hoped more. But anyway, it have a good little bakery in front the hotel.
- esputnik (8/5): Interesting, functional and almost charming - This hotel looked much more stylish or perhaps "typical" than many of the hotels available which looked like out dated five star hotels that had strayed away from a beach that never existed in Cuernavaca. The hotel is mounted around a towering steep staircase which ends at a nice pool. Different levels have different rooms and every room has an outdoor terrace, which can be a good place to read or have breakfast. The rooms vary a lot, they can be very big as is the suite, or quite small, the prices adjust to the size of the rooms. Breakfast included is continental, and for mexican terms, quite scarce since breakfasts are large and hearty. But, you can ask for additional breakfast dishes such as huevos mexicanos for a small extra charge. Service is good, specially during the day. Only complicated thing is that by night the street becomes very lonely and dark, while the hotel is well located and close to boulevard juarez and main squares, a few blocks at night at the wrong moment can be complicated and can lead you to a scare. If you are going to go out by night, call a taxi de sitio, even if you are close.
