- Jakub (2/5): - Place great, views great, unfortunatelly food was teriblle. food was teribble, We would like to talk about a food but, stuff dont want to talk with us to give us some good food for us.
- Igorzem (9/5): An amazing stay in beautiful overwater bungalows, with excellent food, outstanding staff, and breath - Hamueco Dive Resort in Raja Ampat is an outstanding place to stay. The overwater bungalows are beautiful, comfortable, and perfectly integrated with the surrounding nature. The staff are exceptionally friendly, professional, and always helpful, and the food is excellent throughout the stay. Surrounded by pristine reefs, turquoise water, and lush jungle, this resort offers a truly authentic and unforgettable Raja Ampat experience.
- Heath (10/5): Comfortable first stop. - Very comfortable. Friendly staff. Good food. Nice house reef. Was our first stop in Raja Ampat and we enjoyed our stay there. AC was great to have in the room and it gets quite toasty.
- Bo (10/5): 3 great days at Hamueco. - Basic bungalow and yet with A/C and private bathroom. Nice terrace over the sea with beautiful views and sunsets. Kind staff.
We did the early morning jungle trek tour to see the paradisebirds, it was really great, saw 7 - 8 of them, and entry free is refunded if you don’t see the birds.
Rented scooters too at fair prices.
- Jacomina (4/5): -
- Hugo (10/5): Simplicidade e conforto - Simplicidade e conforto. Incríveis pôr do Sol!!!
- Zsolt (7/5): Nice hotel with aircon - Good location, nice house reef, the overeater bungalows are lovely especially the veranda
The manager is also the dive master and he is great (he was very patient with me during refresher dive). The staff was kind. A/C and electricity was on 24 hours. The food is not good. All meats are dry, sometimes no sauce at all and the chicken is chopped up like crazy having bone splinters. The garden could use a lot of work, and there are people just hanging around who could do this in my view.
Wifi should be on longer.
- Thomas (7/5): wäre das Essen gut dann wäre alles fein - Bungalows gut, Bett sehr gut,
Ausflug gut Das Essen war lieblos, einfallslos , geschmacklich langweilig
- Catherine (8/5): Very friendly and accommodating staff. Value was inline with the area and included all meals - Staff friendly, good location. Nice food Foot washing bowls outside villas would be nice and a broom to keep rooms sand free
- Francesca (9/5): Relax fuori dal mondo - Semplice, accogliente e familiare. Pulita.
Ottimo, confortevole e incantevole bungalow sull'acqua.
- Guido (9/5): Perfect place for Diving! Great staff - Very nice place with great staff!
Perfect if you want to dive in Raja Ampat!
- Mark R 78 (8/5): Lovely place in the most amazing location. - The team at HamuEco were amazing, really made us feel welcome and looked after us well. The food was lovely and served in their restaurant with a fabulous sea view. Communication prior to arrival was great and they arranged a car to pick us up from the port which really helped when we arrived. My only criticism would be that the shower was not the best. The one in our room needed a new head and sprayed everywhere except down...but this didn't spoil our stay.
- Damiano (10/5): Staff went above and beyond - Everything is accessible
- Amber (10/5): 10/10 would recommend - Beautiful setting, amazing food. Khoiri and Giri went above and beyond to make my stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Gorgeous sunsets, lovely local reef and great contacts for surrounding dive centres if you are a solo traveller.
- Pedro (10/5): The closest place to the paradise - Food could be the weakest point
- Eszter (9/5): Nice place near Waisai - Nice room, we stayed on the beach not overwater. Close to birdwatching viewpoint. Ok housereef. Nice variety of foods. Excursions, transportation and programs are super expensive.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Rustic camp feel with nice meals and caring staff - It's a 25 minute drive from the ferry terminal and town, so a prefect spot to get away from it all.
Olin Diving can pick you up at the lodge (fantastic guides who speak English pretty well) or you can dive with with the local staff from the resort.
- Clinton (9/5): Superb - The host family and workers were amazing, super helpful and friendly. The location was beautiful and the tours they can organise were perfect. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. I highly recommend staying here for a few nights.
- Miriam (7/5): Good - Early trip to see birds of Paradise and Kalibiru. Walking along beach and road watching birds. Good food, AC in room for a change :-), nice company. The reef in front of resort was very disappointing after staying at other places. There was quite a bit of rubbish laying around the general area and some buildings were crumbling
- Gionniboiz (9/5): Superb - Nice resort with friendly people and jetty on the clear Waters. Villa Is big and cozy.
- Lynn (6/5): Bored to Tears - This is NOT a dive resort!!! Diving costs are extremely expensive Waisai dive resorts are more reasonable. The rooms are basically glorified shacks and the food is mediocre. Also, the picture is not accurate.
- Hannah (9/5): we would’ve liked to stay even longer! - Amazing stay! We really loved it. Food was good, we are vegetarian and they always made some tofu/tempeh for us. Easy to plan Diving or other Tours. And they really do their best to give you a great time. The plan we made via Email for our Diving-Scheudel seemed to be fixed but when we arrived we needed to plan everything again because the staff at the resort didn’t know anything about the plan. Annoying.
- Tjaž (9/5): Superb - The location and the staff. Super nice coral reef infront of the jetty. And the best of the best was the food. The owner should put some maintenance into the resort. I think he earns enough money to spend it on the resort. Change the shower, fix the sewer etc. which are basic expanses.
- Kristian (7/5): Good -
- Westley (9/5): Lovely team delivering an amazing experience. - Rooms were really comfortable, over the water all that was needed. AC a real bonus.
Food was good quality and quantity.
The team provided 3 dives a day, well guided and safe.
On our days off diving, they arranged tours to see other amazing locations.
- Randie E (10/5): - We only stayed for one night. We chose this hotel because it was close to the ferry and we needed to make sure we were on the morning ferry. They made sure that we had a driver pick us up, ferry tickets bought for us, and porters to help with luggage. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. It even had AC! Quite a luxury.
- Siebrich (10/5): Perfect stay in Raja Ampat, real value for money! - We had the best stay at Hamueco.
Everyday we had an abundance of fresh and delicious Indonesian food. The staff was super helpful, Ezra did a great job in answering all our questions (his English is really good). The rooms are amazingly comfortable: AC all day, electricity all day and perfecte service with Tellkomsell. The reef outside of the resort is stunning, we saw a scorpion fish just a few meters away as well as a lot of other fish. The resort is super romantic with the long pier and outlook on the sunset.
We would consider this as one of the best places we’ve ever visited! /
- Nathan (9/5): Superb -
- Rebeka (9/5): Overall okay - The place is wonderfull and i enjoy it very much Air conditioning not cold enough
- Ruben (9/5): Nice stay in a higher standard, local homestay - Lovely stay, very nice hosts, great food, nice vegetarian option. Overwater bungalows were very nice, cozy bed, reliable AC, nice bathroom and great view from the terrace. Resort does offer own dive tours with a guide, but you can also dive at the housereef (which is overall not fantastic but okay for a few dives in between), equipment was okay The vegetarian alternative to Chicken/ Fish was Egg - it's quite nice for a few days, but after 3rd day you have ate enough eggs.
- Koncz (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly staff, great food, and beautiful location. They made sure to have lunch ready when we were arriving, and even let us remain in the room after check out time until leaving for the 2 pm ferry, and provided lunch on the last day as well. It’s a home stay and little wood houses in the water, so don’t expect hot water, but it provides everything that was promised.
- Anton (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lorena (8/5): Ezera was a wonderful and very helpful staff member. He was very attentive and always has a good attitude and happy ener - Good location, room/ bathroom was clean, staff are very friendly and attentive. Diving was easy to coordinate with Hamueco Needs to clean up trash around the property and needs to add sunbeds for beach or deck lounge. I had no subbed to sunbathe on.
- Casey (5/5): Lovely location but needs updates. - The jetty and coral reef out front were outstanding. The beach coastline was sandy and nice for a walk. Snorkeling on site was full of fish. The over the water bungalow view was special with a unique patio and hammock to chill. Ezra was helpful, friendly and spoke good English. Value for money did not match. The facilities and amenities were not matching the price point for a rustic bungalow. The food was lacking variety. There was a lack of atmosphere if you want to socialize as well. No hot water shower after a dive or wifi. The owner is not on site. Diving prices and activities were more expensive than other resorts nearby.
- James (8/5): Nice place to chill - The view of sunset from the jetty was gorgeous . Snorkelling of the jetty was great - saw blacktop shark , bamboo shark, rays etc . Hammocks and balcony’s lovely for relaxing . Owner very helpful sorting tours Food was very basic. Plenty of it available but worth having a few snacks in the room
No shops or anything nearby the hotel
expensive / less Good value compared with elsewhere in Indonesia but that’s true for all of raja ampat I think
- Erik (3/5): Poor -
- Dorothea (4/5): Disappointing - Food was good. The translator Danny very helpful. ATTENTION: I got quite a bit of money stolen. Reading reviews at other platforms not an isolated case. There is no manager at the resort. Huts over the water need to be refurbished.
Diving quite pricy, see attachment.
All in all disappointing and I cannot recommend this place.
- Giuliana (9/5): Superb - The service. Acho was so helpful and friendly, always trying to help and caring so much about the guests. Excellent!
- Leonie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicolaas (9/5): Hamueco was an amazing stay in Raja Ampat, come here if you want to enjoy a beautiful house reef! - Hamueco Dive Lodge was an amazing experience.
During our stay at Hamueco we fully enjoyed the pier and the house reef what was so pristine.
Also their breakfast, lunch and dinner was very good. There wasn’t much variety but the taste and quality was really good.
the people working for Hamueco are very nice and helpful. Their English isn't really good though.
The hotel arranged transportation from the ferry to the hotel (for a fee).
Also they where so kind to prepare transportation to our new hotel (for a fee).
We did some diving with a dive school they collaborated with and it was all good and I would recommend staying here. We enjoyed things being basic as this fits Raja Ampat, but you have to be prepared for it;
Showering with cold water from a bucket of water.
Air-conditioning but in a room with many open areas and so not really cold.
The rooms on the water are so cute but in case you have neighbors be prepared that the rooms aren't sound proof or movement proof at all.
- Bertrand (10/5): Exceptional - Great people, great food, great bungalow, great dives.
- Leila (5/5): Great manager, beautiful views, horrible food, no internet - The manager Ali was incredibly helpful and really great! He was the best thing about this hotel.
The water stilt rooms have beautiful views of the water and sunset.
You really feel the nature here! The main problem with this place is the food. They need to either fire the chef or invest in some serious training. Every day it was the same food, white rice, chicken in oil, smoked fish and some fruit. I was only there for a couple of nights, so I thought it was passable, thinking that maybe there are just not a lot of resources in Waisai, but then I went on a 11 day live aboard boat trip and it was an amazing culinary experience! And they were cooking in a 2x3 meter kitchen, so there is really no excuse for how bad the food was at Hameuco. I mean the chicken was just in pure oil, not even any sauce to put on the rice. The other issue with the food is that dinner is served at 8pm, which is just way too late. Dinner should be served at 6pm, especially considering that most people are up very early to attend excursions. Nobody wants to eat dinner that late.
Another main issue is the internet. There is no internet available. The manager, Ali, will offer to go pickup a sim card for you to have data, but it only works if your phone is registered with the tax office (which only make sense to do if you are staying longer than 90 days, as it is a large fee). Ali offers to create a hot spot for you, but nobody wants to bother the staff every time they need to use the internet. A hot spot device should be purchased and left in the dining area, for guests to use as they wish.
A third major issue is that there are no credit card facilities on site. So paying for the excursions requires a lot of cash on hand or trips to town to exchange money. I have recommended that they set up Wise, PayPal or another electronic transfer method.
If you are a light sleeper or need serious rest/recuperation be sure to book the land villas, as you feel neighbor's movement a lot in the water stilt rooms. There is no hot water here, which is fine most of the time.
- Chris (10/5): Excellent resort and very friendly staff - the manager Ali was very friendly and made me feel very welcome .
lovely place to stay I recommend water bungalow nothing
- Lisa (9/5): idyllically place to relax - the view, snorkeling, the awesome Indonesian food (also great vegetarian or vegan choices), the hammock, the atmosphere, the afternoon snack, the friendly staff Raja Ampat in general is very expensive compared to other parts of Indonesia. So you have a basic accommodation, even if the price is high.
- Renata (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely fantastic place surrounded by beautiful nature and sea. Helpful and lovely staf, great food!
- Jade (6/5): Not worth the money - not good for tours of the island - The villas are lovely and was really nice to have a few more comforts than other homestays, like aircon and own bathroom. The sea view was amazing and I watched luminous plankton off the end of the pier. The food was also nice.
Nice if you only want to stay in your villa and do nothing else. There's not much in the way of facillities and the tours are not worth it here!
The beach is very small and unfortunately there is litter everywhere, it has not been looked after. Not what I expected from an 'eco' resort. The house reef and coral is mostly dying so snorkling in the area isn't great.
If your interested in tours of the island do not book through this homestay/stay somehwere else. The prices were super high when compared with other accommodation options, and despite the high price the guide was really just a driver so there's no information given or chances to really discover the nature and beauty of the island.
- Megan (8/5): - Lovely rooms. Larger than expected. The single rooms over the water could easily take 2 people and beach cabins had 2 double beds. Clean, friendly courteous service. Can what’s app the resort to organise transport. Provided English speaking manager to organise activities. Bird watching for Red and Wilson’s Birds of paradise particularly excellent. The guide has build rail on walking track and bird hides at both spots. Good snorkling just off the pier.
