Gibson (8/5): - Good location. Comfortable bed. Powerful shower. Stairs need to be a mountain climber. Breakfast was too twee. Either have an inclusive price and serve up a buffet or don't bother. Certainly not worth the climb up and down the stairs to sit in a sterile room for an a la carte offering, which was okay but not really worth the effort.

Ok pour moi mais plus compliqué pour mon conjoint qui est grand et avec un sac à dos. La porte du bas qui est bruyante mais peu ouverte au final car il n'y a que 5 chambres par adresse

Simone (5/5): Die Lage top, wir würden aber hier nicht wieder buchen. - Eine tolle Lage, mitten in der Altstadt! Sehr bequemes Bett! Mangelnde Sauberkeit. Der Boden, besonders der Teppich war unrein. Das Fenster längere Zeit nicht mehr geputzt. Der Kapselautomat sehr verunreinigt. Im Bad ist die Spiegelleuchte defekt. Auch die Duscharmaturen sind nicht mehr fest verankert. Für ein Boutique Hotel sollte es auch selbstverständlich sein, die eigentlich schönen Holzregale mit etwas Öl zu pflegen. Beim Check out haben wir niemanden angetroffen, die Schlüssel und die City tax auf dem desk hinterlassen und per sms dieses mitgeteilt. Schade, ein tolles altes verwinkeltes Gebäude mit Charme…

Laurien (8/5): Perfect verblijf voor een goede prijs - Eenvoudig inchecken, heerlijk bed en centraal gelegen Op booking.com staat dat het ontbijt 12,50 pp is. Maar het is gewoon van de kaart. Garden view is zicht op een heel klein binnen tuintje. Maar nu zijn wij de ruimte in het oosten van het land gewend 😅.

Nazim (7/5): Good location. - Great location along the canal. Easy access to downtown and bike paths. Death defying stairs to get to your room. Bathroom had a very pungent smell coming up from the shower drain. Had to sleep with the window open to allow for fresh air.
Harvey (2/5): - This is probably the worst hotel I have stayed at in my life and yet also nearly the most expensive. The issue that made us check out 3 days before the end of our prepaid 4 night stay was something highly allergic in the air in our room that made it impossible to sleep more than an hour without coughing and clearing my throat. But the sum total of other issues should give cause to anyone else considering this hotel. When we arrived at the hotel door the staff gave us instructions to a public parking area a half mile from the hotel. The instructions included a route down a narrow one-way street that was totally blocked by stanchions in the ground, and we were forced to back out for 200 feet with MANY pedestrians and bikes trying to get around us. This saga continued until a very helpful pedestrian gave us clear directions to the parking area. When we finally made it back to the hotel, they had fortunately carried our bags up three flights of a narrow, winding, spiral staircase that we would have been completely unable to negotiate with a suitcase with steps half the width of a man's foot. It felt quite scary going up and down to our room with no luggage at all. When we reached our room, we found a bedroom with absolutely no space around the bed for a table or movement. One of us had to climb over the other to get in or out of bed. I suppose the owner thinks this and the ridiculously dangerous staircase are what makes it a "boutique" hotel! In any case, the day after we checked out, I wrote to the hotel and Booking to ask for some sort of refund because of the allergy problem that I had ONLY in that hotel. I never heard anything back from either the hotel nor Booking. Think about all this before you consider making a reservation at the most non-boutique hotel I can imagine. The only pleasant part of our stay was the breakfast that the friendly manager cooked for us before we left.

Jutta Fehr (5/5): - Die Lage. Inmitten der Altstadt in einem für die Niederlande typischen Altstadt - Gebäude. Alles fußläufig erreichbar. Das Zimmer wäre für leicht Gehbehinderte nicht erreichbar, da es nur über eine extrem steile und schmale Treppe zu erreichen ist. Aus dem Bad verbreiteten sich aus dem Abfluss unangenehme Gerüche. Das Frühstück für die angegebenen 12,50€ enthielt nur einen Bagel, einen Joghurt mit Früchten, Tasse Kaffee und Saft aus der Flasche. Außerdem musste es in einem extrem kalten, unbeheizten Raum eingenommen werden. Wir haben ein Frühstück bei einem hervorragenden Bäcker vorgezogen .

Simone (8/5): - De kamer was erg mooi. Geen standaard hotelkamer, maar een kamer met karakter. Nette douche met toilet. Goed bed. Niet gebruikt, maar wel sfeervol was de haard. De locatie was top, midden in het centrum. De locatie is zo centraal dat het vlakbij een cafe ligt. Toen het cafe sloot hoorde je wel even wat mensen op straat. Mijn zus heeft er doorheen geslapen, ik heb het toevallig wel gehoord maar het was binnen 30 min voorbij.

Mireille (8/5): Heerlijke plek en voor herhaling vatbaar - Sfeervol hotel op een uitstekende locatie in de stad. Mooi ingericht hotel en dat geldt ook voor de kamers. Lekker schoon. Fijn bed met goed dekbed en kussen. Ontbijt is à la carte met veel verschillende opties in een gezellige ruimte. Weer eens wat anders dan de standaard buffetten. Voor de puntjes op de i: zet het bureaublad, het hout in de badkamer en dat van de schou een keer in de lak of olie. Dan oogt het weer fris en schoon.

Julie (7/5): Een fijn verblijf in het centrum van de stad - De locatie is fantastisch, pal in het historische centrum van Leiden. De kamer is erg comfortabel, met veel ruimte en goeie bedden. Op de tweede nacht hadden we bovenburen, waarvan we elke stap en elk woord konden horen. Ook de stijle trap tussen de verdiepen is niet zo toegankelijk - zowel voor mensen die minder te been zijn, als mensen met hoogtevrees.

Lida (10/5): Top locatie, supercomfortabel, ruime kamer: fantastische value4money! - Geweldige locatie en fijne ruime stijlvolle kamer. Ook in de winter super comfortabel met een heerlijke gaskachel in de kamer. Heerlijk bed, goede kussens. Perfect gelegen voor een weekend of mid-week in deze prachtige stad Leiden! Alles was geweldig, we komen weer terug!

Judith (8/5): Very nice and would recommend! - Good breakfast, very nice room and bathroom, and good facilities. Also a great location. Airconditioning/heating system was difficult to regulate and made a lot of noise.

Iwan (6/5): Netjes , maar voor mij een no go ivm koffers - Had het hotel nodig voor overnachting voor ik ging vliegen. Er zijn twee hele steile trappen waar je bijna niet af of op kan met twee koffers. Er zou een speciale lift moeten zijn voor koffers of een berging voor koffers. William Schoofs (8/5): Great boutique hotel in central Leiden with self-check-in. - breakfast à la cart with few but original options. Not very copious, but quality is very good. Very narrow staircase.
Michiel (9/5): Oud-Leidens thuisgevoel hotelkamer - Regen- en handdouche, badk-vloerverwarming, als houtkachel vermomde elektrische kachel, minikoelkastje, espressomachientje incl. capsules, heerlijk één groot bed, stille achterzijde v/h hotel, kastruimte, (ietwat gladde) luie stoelen, als je nog een glaasje neemt, kussens klein en groot. Kamerschoon, bedopmaak, opgeruimd, TOP Je mist een klein tafeltje tussen de stoelen om een glas of kopje op te zetten. De wenteltrap neem je voorzichtig, smal en nauw. De enkelglas-schuiframen kieren, daar mag toch wel es wat geïsoleerd worden.

Dirk (5/5): Goed maar we hebben al in beter gelogeerd. - Het ontbijt was erg goed maar niet in de kamerprijs inbegrepen. Het verblijf is erg centraal gelegen dat was zeker een pluspunt. Het verblijf is te duur voor wat je krijgt: er was geen douchemat, de verlichting boven de badkamerspiegel werkte niet. Er is bovendien nogal wat nachtlawaai.
Peter (8/5): Very bijou and comfortable hotel, but the street was a little noisy. - The room was well laid out and very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was small but the shower was good and the water toasting hot. The location is central and convenient for the university and town centre. The stairs are extremely steep and extremely narrow. They are not for the faint hearted or anybody with mobility issues. Carrying a large suitcase up would be extremely challenging, and there was little help available. The road is busy and was very noisy with a lot of vocal passersby (I was there on Friday and Saturday night so maybe it is quieter midweek). Consider bringing earplugs...

Lida (10/5): What a gem: the location, spacious room and the no-nonsense very positive hospitality, we loved it! - I can confirm all positive comments of others. We had a lovely stay, the location is fantastic, we loved the spacious room and even while it was getting cold outside, the heating in the room was more than adequate: super comfy. It's the perfect location from where to stroll around the wonderful center of Leiden, and if you're done walking around, there are some fantastic restaurant options just across from Ex-Libris, so easy and enjoyable.
